So what does the upcoming season have in store to keep the actors giddy? There will be some new characters — demons, angels, ghosts, werewolves — and of course, “a side of Dean we’ve never seen,” Carver teased.
“We’ll be staying with Demon Dean for more than one episode,” the EP revealed. And it’ll be a “different type of Demon Dean then you might expect.
Elsewhere, “while Sam is on the hunt for his brother, there is another mysterious character who is on the same hunt” and causes complications for brothers, continued Carver. On the heavenly front, “Castiel is very much in the picture at the beginning of Season 10,” although he’s “in danger of dying” due to his fading grace.

I'm really excited for season ten based on what the boys said here. Sounds like it's going to be fun!
ReplyDeleteAnd who the hell asked them about fic? Because they were talking about it for some reason and I'd like to know why.
"And who the hell asked them about fic?" That was my thought exactly. We can't get through ONE event without SOMEONE bringing up their fanfiction lol.
ReplyDeleteI just read the article and fanfiction was never brought up, so I'm a little confused by your comments.
ReplyDeleteAlthough I'm curious about the premiere, I am wondering what Sam will be up to in episode 2 since we know Dean is screwing a bartender in that episode.
TV Guide's critics were livetweeting the panel and J2 were talking about fic.
ReplyDeleteIt really is impressive that after 9 years they can still get me excited to for the next season!
ReplyDeleteI wonder if the mysterious character who is on the same hunt for Dean is going to be the new recurring character "Dar." They've only mentioned her and Rowena so far and Rowena sounds like she'll be related to Crowley's storyline to me. Very intriguing! Can't wait for the new season to start.
ReplyDeleteRight? It's bad enough when people do it at the conventions, now the press is getting in on it as well? I wonder if it has anything to do with the Advocate picking up the story about what happened in the #AskSupernatural hashtag the other day. Maybe they're trying to get out in front of that so that it doesn't continue to be a distraction during their 10th season. It could be their way of saying "It's fine to ship but it has nothing to do with what's happening on the show." because maybe they feel as if they need to reiterate that message before the season gets underway.
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like Castiel's storyline is separate from Sam and Dean. I was hoping he and Sam would be joining forces in the hunt for Dean.
ReplyDeleteI did see some comments earlier today about Sam and Castiel joining forces to try and save Dean. It said something to the effect of "Demon Dean will be running amok while Sam and Castiel desperately search for a way to cure him." And Jared mentioned at JIBCon that he thinks Sam will definitely be calling Cas to try and get his help. They might start out the season separately but eventually team up somewhere down the road.
ReplyDeleteWhat story? What happened in a hashtag?
ReplyDeleteYeah, my best guess is "Dar", too, assuming the show hasn't changed the character's name from "Rowena" to "Dar". I still think "Rowena" will have a connection to Crowley.
ReplyDeleteIt was apparently "shut down " (along with a few others, I think #AskTVD was one, too) because instead of asking legitimate storyline related questions - which WERE asked, I retweeted about a dozen of them myself - the hashtag was inundated with "D/C" fans asking variations of why their non-canon "ship" wasn't canon yet.
ReplyDeleteThanks for letting me know! Man, I wish shippers would just keep their crap to themselves. It's not who those characters are. It's not going to happen. It's fine if it exists in the shippers heads, but they should quit forcing it on everybody. Stop spoiling everything for everyone else :/
ReplyDeleteThe golden one was the people comparing a quick joke about Dean being attracted to a poodle to him being in a relationship with Cas. Because they are the same things.
ReplyDelete" And it’ll be a “different type of Demon Dean then you might expect."
ReplyDeleteHe's a friendly demon. He saves old ladies and kittens.
Sadly, this is what I expect. Sam won't save Dean, because Dean will be the best demon in the entire world just with extra strength so he can fight monsters better than before. Any attempt to de-demonize him will be wrong and bad. Sam getting powers from drinking demon blood was the most evil thing in the world. Dean becoming a demon will be a gift to mankind.
ReplyDeleteso true Dean is good and can not wrong. I that's the one thing I hate about this show.
ReplyDeleteThat's I fear, too, that the show won't dare go too far to "ruin" Dean (as was done with Sam and Cas) by having "DD" do unsupportable, more 'evil' deeds than either of them did.
ReplyDeleteThat's just mean - one can be 'anti-Destiel' without resorting to nastiness.
ReplyDeleteThat was actually the pro-Destielers. They saw Dean showing attraction to the poodle (attraction that spurred on by his psychic link to the Colonel) as appearing more acceptable than making Dean bi-sexual and in a relationship with Cas. Which is just a massive bit of false equivalency, because the poodle thing was a joke, nothing more.
ReplyDeleteI think they are well aware of what I call the ' Dean perception' it does factor heavily into how he is approached . Besides Demon Dean is not going to be vilified for existing by the show as Sam has been.
ReplyDeleteDean is already an expert in torture because of Alistair, I wonder what side of him will show
ReplyDeleteWe've seen hero!Dean and murderous!Dean. What side of him haven't we seen? Maybe vulnerable!Dean? That would be a very different Demon!Dean from what I was expecting.
ReplyDeleteJust the thought that Dean is being hunted seems so wrong, but I'm intrigued with this mysterious character.
While having Dean as a 'good' demon is a huge copout (nothing new when it comes to Dean), unfortunately it makes sense. It will allow him to keep the POV, something he's had since season 4 and something he couldn't keep if he were like every other demon on the show. Add to that, Sam can then retain the position of being antagonist to the the shows 'hero', because if he's trying to cure Demon Dean and DD is the good guy, then Sam will be perceived as the bad guy, once again.
ReplyDeleteThe sad thing is I'm really expecting this is how it will play out. If it does, I'm out of the show. Dean is good, Sam is bad has happened too often for me to stick with the show if it continues even when Dean is a demon.
ReplyDeleteI think we've seen vulnerable Dean. He's shed his one perfect tear. He's gone to visit Lisa and Ben before he turns into a vampire. He's felt guilty about John making the deal for his life. Dean has been vulnerable for a long, long time. Jensen's ability to do one perfect tear has been used to great advantage.
ReplyDeleteNo, he's really not being nasty. You have not experienced the...intensity that is the fringes of Destiel. So yes, Dean making a passing remark about the poodle was shown as a sign that Dean has flexible sexuality and will end up with Castiel. Heck I hit one very long post about how because Cas brought flowers to the date that turned into babysitting AND, in a later episode without Cas, the fact that the motel room Dean and Sam stayed in had roses on the wallpaper was actually the writers signally that Dean was thinking about Cas because of their true love. The poster then went on to reference what I assumed to be the working theory, that when Carver said he had a three year arc he was talking about a three year arc to make Destiel canon. At that point I decided to leave the poster's blog and never return. The people on the extreme side of Destiel can find support for it in places that I don't get it.
ReplyDeleteWith all due respect, percysowner, that's the way it has been on the show since season 4. Sam does something, he's torn apart for it. Dean does identical and it's either whitewashed over or he's lauded for it. The same will happen here because that's the way the show has been written, especially under Carver who, as yet, hasn't managed to write fairly and equally for both brothers.
ReplyDeleteI agree with those who think DD won't be doing anything truly demonic. If we remember Cain, he didn't seem like a demon either. I'll wait and see what happens but it sounds like this story will be a waste of time.
ReplyDeleteI do not know if it will be a waste of time ? . What grates on me is the hypocrisy around DD and what he represents .
ReplyDeleteYeah . . . I'm not sure how this will play out. It could be interesting or it could be bad. I guess we'll see.
ReplyDelete" Maybe they're trying to get out in front of that so that it doesn't continue to be a distraction during their 10th season."
ReplyDeleteOoh, I didn't think of that... Jensen and Jared certainly did their best to "squash" (Jensen's word) Canon!Destiel at the Jus In Bello convention two months ago.
Thing is, those who've convinced themselves that Dean breathing in Castiel's general direction is proof that Destiel is (or is on its way to be)"canon", won't listen to reason. Some of them still think it's going to happen.
I don't think a sworn statement from Carver, the CW AND Warner Bros would help at this point. Extreme shippers simply choose to ignore anything that goes against the fantasy they created in their minds.
