Katrina and Ichabod
"I'm sure there's a lot of people out there who want me to go away," Winter tells the Ichabbie shippers in the crowd, but you might like Katrina a bit more after some of the new episodes. "You're going to see more in depth why [Ichabod and Katrina] love each other so much, so I hope they appreciate that at least."
Romance is not on the horizon for Abbie and Ichabod. “We did not conceive these characters by what you all have taken away from this relationship,” EP Heather Kadin said. Still, the set-up provides for a great dynamic between the two.
New Additions
Matt Barr (Hellcats) will play an arms dealer, while a new sheriff who shares a history with Abbie’s mother will pose an obstacle for Abbie and Ichabod.
Can't wait for this show to return, I'm excited to learn more about Katrina.
ReplyDeleteI hope Katrina's powers are more impressive than levitating a twig, we spent all S1 with her annoying, vague warnings just to see her levitate a twig? Give me a badass witch who is a major player and not just Ichabod's motivator or a damsel. Not sure how I feel about Stockholm Syndrome with Horseman, but ok, just do something interesting with her.

Just give me more Abbie and Jenny together, being badasses and less angsty Ichabod- he can be the comic relief it all revolves around, while Abbie and Jenny save the day.
Hallelujah! I am incredibly glad that the PTB do not plan on making Ichabod and Abbie's relationship romantic. Best news out of SDCC yet. In fact, much of what I am hearing here makes me even more excited about season 2.
ReplyDeleteI don't want Ichabod to be the comic relief, although I appreciate that aspect of his personality, nor the dude in distress. This show works for me because he and Abbie are equals. Jenny makes for a great powerful third. If they keep creating that balance, there will be something for everyone in the show.

ReplyDeleteI am interested in learning about Katrina also, mostly because she is still the most mysterious character. I find what I know of her back story fascinating and can't wait to hear about her pre-Ichabod.
ReplyDeleteMe too, I'm really intrigued by her. Me too, looks like it's going to be heaps of fun! I'm also happy that Ichabbie stays friends, sometimes that's when it's the most fun :)
ReplyDeleteMy problem with S1 was the amount of angst they gave him, everything already revolves around him, but also the fact that twice he sent Abbie away while he went off to face danger (house with vines and Golem)- I'm sorry, she's a cop, she shouldn't have backed down, she should have gone with him, but they sidelined her in those episodes for Ichabod and that's what I don't like. Yes, I want them to be equals and to do it all together, but in the middle of S1 it was the Ichabod show and that was what I had a problem with. I still wish they would have revealed that Jenny was the second witness and not Ichabod- he's the lead, you know it will all revolve around him somehow, but I was hoping they'd give me some security in Jenny's longevity, LOL. Balance is the name of the game, I want it to be more balanced between the Crane family drama and the Mills sisters.

ReplyDeleteI would love Ichabod and Abbie to get together, but I assume that would be much further down the road. For now I'm interested to see the dynamic play out between them as well as the tension that will result from Ichabod's betrayal. Additionally, really looking forward to knowing more about the Mills Sisters in the future. Should be fun!

ReplyDeleteI get where you are coming from. I disliked Ichabod rushing in and telling Abbie to wait either. Her telling him to wait made more sense to me because she is the cop and she really didn't know him in the beginning. I also think that making Jennie the second witness could have been awesome and makes a lot of sense. However then they would need some reason for Ichabod to rise and since they are spinning off Biblical apocalypse themese, it makes sense for him to be a witness too. I however have the same fears as you do when it comes to Jenny making it to season 3 and beyond. Overall I am okay though with "the Crane family drama:" taking over more focus than the Mills sisters because it ties into the essential mytharc of the whole show. I just hope Jenny gets more screentime because she kicks butt with the best of them.
ReplyDeleteIt would the exception instead of the rule these days. In fact, them staying partners instead of lovers could qualify as one of those plot twists Sleepy Hollow does so well.
ReplyDeleteI think there was a bit too much Crane family drama in S2- 2 out of the 4 Horsemen are connected to them and have a grudge against Ichabod (and Katrina), people were jokingly wondering last season if Ichabod's father is another Horseman. I think Ichabod will always be at the center of it all or important and I think he would have stayed important even if they would have made Jenny the second witness, but alas, it is what it is and I'm worried that they'll at some point kill Jenny off for angst. I just want some balance between Ichabod's man-pain and "Ichabod is connected to everything going on" and Abbie's side of it. And yes, I love Jenny so I want her to have more screentime and to have more Abbie-Jenny scenes/storylines.
