Sunny Wednesday morning caught Sam and Andy having coffee together. As predicted, Andy’s still upset about what happened with the trial and Oliver. She’s being all bratty about it and instead of telling Andy to get it together and act like an adult and do her job and respect her boss, Sam decided the best thing to do is to wait for Andy to come around. Which she did, of course, because character development, duh. But that only happened at the end of the episode.
This is what I look like too when I'm torn between which snacks to choose.
Poor, poor Oliver. He’s not having a good time at work, at all. Kudos to Matt Gordon for portraying Oliver Shaw so well. Sergeant Shaw looked so torn during these last two episodes, having to juggle between work and family. He’s struggling to please the inspector and his officers at the same time. He wants to be a granola bar guy but in reality he’s really a candy bar guy. You can’t always have it both ways, but you can be what you want to be. Inspector Jarvis ordered Oliver to pull the plug on the raid led by Steve but he gave Steve the go ahead anyways. Which did not turn out as well as it was supposed to be. Why? Traci warned Dex about the raid because apparently that’s how he’s trying to pay for his legal fees, by gambling. Dex tipped the rest of his fellow gamblers off and Steve was not impressed when he found out about it from Traci. As predicted, Steve’s been following Dex to get some dirt on him to help Traci win the custody battle. A Peck’s gotta do what he’s gotta do to help his lady no matter what, right?
I’m still waiting to find out what Inspector Jarvis’s deal is with the division. Why is he still around? His presence is making me feel really worried for everyone.
Mcpeck FTW
Gail and Andy partnered up for this week and they made me realized just how much I miss Mcpeck before all the Nick drama last season. Nice Andy decided to take a break and be all mean and cynical throughout the episode. You know you got to do something about your attitude when Gail Peck the queen of snark and sass tells you to get over it and grow up. I need to point something out here. Gail mentioned that Oliver loves all of them and I think it’s a really big character growth for Gail. She knows she’s loved and she’s telling Andy to cut the bullshit. Gail Peck the peace advocate. She’s really come a long way from Gail “who cares as long as I’m happy” Peck. I could get used to that. Also, the more I see Gail’s new haircut the more I love it.
Dov being a supportive friend, brought Chris to a meeting which obviously did not work because this is a TV drama and we can’t have drug addict Chris try to be clean without relapsing at least once. Chris was being an insensitive jerk saying how he’s not like Dov’s junkie brother. Yes Chris, I’m sure you’re not, at all. Dov decided it was time to tell Oliver about Chris’s drug problem, but Chris managed to stop him and volunteered to go himself, making Oliver’s day even worse. I’m disappointed they didn’t show how the scene would unfold, since it’s a really significant part of Chris’s character this season and how damaging it would be to his career. You don’t just show the viewers of Chris walking up to Oliver’s office and that’s it. I don’t think this is the end of his drug storyline. It’s far too important to dismiss it like that and I hope we get to know more next week.
I'm sure it's the drugs talking.
Being too wrapped up with Chris's problems, Dov stood up the sergeant from the intelligence unit and his relationship with Chloe is not doing very well too. Dov is sacrificing his career and love life for his dear friend but Chris doesn't seem to be grateful at all. Drug addict Chris is not my favourite person at the moment.
Case of the week involved a home invasion that happened to be an inside job. This is the third Degrassi kid we’ve seen this season. Not that I’m complaining since I used to be a Degrassi fan. The kid shot himself in the head and despite of a gas leak which had me on the edge of my seat, he managed to survive thanks to Dov and Chris.
We did not get to see Duncan this week, which I'm grateful for because I just cannot deal with him right now.
I’m also waiting for Nick’s big storyline. The first half of the season is ending and we barely saw him, I hope this will change soon because he’s such a great character and it would be a waste if we don’t get to see much of his character arc in the final three episodes.
Next week, Wes is baaaack! This is going to be interesting. Also, be sure to watch the stakeout webisodes if you haven't already. Share with me what you think about Exit Strategy below!
Great review as usual Zhaobin
ReplyDeleteFor Nick, I still don't believe that he is a great character or something else. I know I am a huge McSwarek shipper but this is not related with my ship. For my point of view Marlo was an amazing contribution to story, even she was a block on McSwarek, she was bipolar and lots of drama came to show with her in only one season. Plus I never behave like a Chloe fan (still I am not sure whether I like her) but I should accept that she is an amazing contribution. She has connections with not only Dov, she is still married, she has also connections with Gail, Andy, Chris and even with Sam. However, still I cannot decide where should I put Nick. He has only two edges for me, 1st being Gail's boyfriend, 2nd being Andy's boyfriend. After Andy dumped him, they could not stay as friends. He is still far distant from the other rookies, no connection with either Dov or Chris, I hope we will learn at least his past! Up to here he is just existing in the show as someone's boyfriend! and he is in his 3rd season.
ReplyDeleteJarvis is so fucking confusing me. Why would a peaceful neighberhood be important to an inspector. I get the feeling, that he isn't interested in solving any crimes. Why is this swansea a "delicate situation".
ReplyDeleteAnd why is he always around? Maybe he wants the police doing random stupid stuff, so they don't see what's really going on? You know, when the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing?
I can't shake the feeling, that there is something wrong with this dude.
I bet they didn't show Chris with Oliver, because Chris wasn't telling him the truth. He probably did make up more BS.
I'm kind of heartbroken with this episode, because I can't figure out who is more stupid. Andy for not thinking for a second that Oliver will always have her back.
Steve for wanting to be a knight for Traci, which is sometimes not needed. For Dexter to be an obvious idiot or for Traci, going to a suspect and warning him. I get it Traci, he is the father of your child, but you aren't his mother! For Dov to always give into Chris. If he had a junky brother, he should know that they have to a. go to therapy because they want to and b. let them fall hard.
But I'm super excited for the next episode, the Promo looks great.
I was a bit surprised at how bratty Andy still was about the whole thing too. I gave her a pass and was actually impressed that she was self-aware enough to admit she was being juvenile (but needed it) during the basketball game last week. It was all fresh then and she was still emotional. But it just seemed to take her FOREVER to get enough perspective to start to see why Oliver did what he did. And even by the end of the day when there was that touching scene between the two, Andy still didn't admit her part in triggering the shitty situation or catch on that Oliver had made a major sacrifice for her. I hope we see that by the next episode because this is just going to give fuel to the fire of the small group of vocal fans who can't stand Andy and usually drive me nuts.
ReplyDeleteDov and Oliver were my heroes this episode. I just wanted to give them both a hug on their very bad Wednesdays!
There's something fishy about Jarvis... And there's definitely enough stupidity to spread around in this episode.
ReplyDeleteI believe if the writers put in more time and dedication into Nick, we can get to see how great of a character he can be, instead of the limited screen time in almost all the episodes so far or as someone's love interest. I hope Nick will have an interesting storyline soon!
ReplyDeleteThanks for reading! :)
