Looks like season 5 won't be just split, they're gonna air it as season 6, according to Global TV.
@sutherland_j The 22 episodes that were announced will air in an 11 episode S.5 (currently airing) & an 11 episode S.6, to air in 2015!

That's weird. Why didn't they announce them as separate seasons in the first place?
ReplyDeleteUh oh....that doesn't sound very good... how are the ratings? and also..... NOOOOO, I hope we don't have to wait till summer 2015!!
ReplyDeleteat least we are getting a sixth season and hopefully we will get a seventh season seeing as global and abc felt confident enough in the series to do 22 eps and since Missy just got married maybe they want a break the actors and crew work hard from writers to grips it sucks though I was hoping we would get the rest of the episodes mid season but we now know we get a sixth season
ReplyDeleteOne way to sell more box sets
ReplyDeleteI really hope that means ABC is going to do that, too.
ReplyDeleteI know, right?
ReplyDeleteIt's probably for financial reasons - all episodes billed at S5 rates. I imagine cast, crew, etc. would've received pay bumps or needed to renegotiate for S6. That seems to be an issue for shows that produce smaller batches - the later episodes get far more expensive than if standard 22-episode order. RB will have after S5.1 (63 episodes), which is similar to end of three seasons of standard shows.
ReplyDeleteNot a good sign. What do they do with cast and crew since they aren't filming a sixth season....
ReplyDeleteUgh that totally means there going to end on a cliff hanger this season after only a few episodes. Then we have to wait all the way till next summer for the conclusion and follow up.
ReplyDeleteI believe the series finale will be this season 6. First of all, why would they shoot 22 episodes? I think the season 6 is the last season of rookie blue. Canadian shows almost all the times have only 5 or 6 seasons.
ReplyDeleteLame. We just went from a super-sized (albeit a split-up) season 5 to a season 5 that's two episodes shorter than last season.
ReplyDeleteThis is exactly how Syfy will announce Haven. Which means the second half of 11 episodes will be considered final season. No Drama show has made it past Season 6 on Syfy lol
ReplyDeleteFlashpoint lasted 5 seasons.
ReplyDeleteThey broke it up, Bc clearly ppl forgot that when summer ends. Fall shows return and where the hell ABC and Global are gonna squeeze in Rookie Blue when they have mapped out the entire Fall Schedule lol
ReplyDeleteIt means perfect sense bc no way does ABC and Global have space for Rookie Blue to air during the fall schedule when they have mapped it out entirely.
ReplyDeleteI figured that's why they are breaking it up. I was actually commenting on the second part of her statement. :) Btw, does Global air Grey's as well? I'm wondering because ABC and them could have aired the second half of season 5 while Grey's is on hiatus, instead of waiting next summer.
ReplyDeleteI'm hoping ABC airs it during Grey's Hiatus and not follow Global. For 4 season ABC aired RB first then Global. This season we aired after Global lol
ReplyDeleteGlobal intends to follow our Schedule bc we air first. 4 yrs RB aired first on ABC. Global was just lucky this yr to air before ABC lol
ReplyDeleteGrey's Anatomy is aired on CTV in Canada.
ReplyDeleteOh, okay. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteWHAT? why? Of course it was to good to be tru to begin with :( pff
ReplyDeleteawww man, I was really hoping that they would air the latter 11 episodes during the hiatus, now have to wait so long for them. Disappointed!
ReplyDeleteSo just when I'm totally into this series thinking it's going to run 22 episodes they decide to pull it & air the measly remaining 11 eps next year!!! I HATE it when they do that!!!
ReplyDeleteSo all this Hype about the 22 episode season 5 when in the end they actually punish us w/ only 11 eps instead of the normal 13 of the past seasons!!! We Got The SHAFT!!!
Good Bye Crookie Blues!!! I'm not coming back!!!
