The third episode of Reckless airs tonight at 10:00pm on CBS. Please take note that this is a time change from the previous two weeks.
The title, “Stand Your Ground”, comes from the case of the week which involves a homicide resulting from an intruder breaking into the defendant’s home while he was sleeping. There are some twists in the case which keeps it interesting and the ending wasn’t as predictable as I had thought at the beginning of the episode.
A major focus of this episode is the relationship between Preston and Jamie. Jamie is still reeling from Roy’s revelation that Preston was on the video tape. The uncertainty about what to believe affects Jamie’s personal and professional relationship with Preston. Tension mounts when she becomes the attorney for the defendant in the homicide case while Preston is the lead detective.
A settlement in the lawsuit is another focus of this episode. Jamie and Roy go back and forth a bit on numbers. The city council, and it seems like everyone, finds a lawsuit to be a nuisance that they just want to go away and don’t want to go to court.

-Jamie thinks she has found a witness who can help Lee Anne’s case.
-Terry confronts Lee Ann about his encounter with her husband in the last episode.
-We meet Jamie’s assistant’s daughter who is in college on a scholarship when she gets herself into a bit of trouble.
-Laptops left open are just an invitation for snooping.
-The episode ends on a huge cliffhanger.

I don't think they could have gotten away with this episode a year ago, but now I guess it's been long enough since George Zimmerman that people remember but it's not quite such a hot topic. However, so far I don't think the legal proceedings are the strength of the show - it's really all about the characters and their relationships, which is good because there are so many courtroom dramas that never develop characters very well.

Great Northern's "Home" was the perfect backdrop for when Jamie and Preston are getting dinner, and I especially liked when they used "So Very Long" by Charlie Calleja when Lee Anne and Arliss wake up in bed. That guy has kind of a bizarre sounding singing accent that sounds so great with his soft voice
