Are they planning a spin off? This really felt like a backdoor pilot for a new SWAT show. If they are, I'm in, I liked all the characters, especially if they include Cooper.
I liked this episode quite a bit, I was really worried for Julio and Fitz, I was sure one was going to die just not which one. I'm so glad they're both safe.
Yeah there's been spinoff rumors for a couple of months now. Not sure if there's an official word about whether or not it will actually be a series but this episode was meant to be a backdoor pilot. If there's a spinoff it'll feature Frtiz running LAPD's Special Operations Bureau with McGinnis and Cooper working for him.
the spinoff is a rumour which could happen.......but if it doesn't I guess Fitz will stay with the FBI and they can still bring in these character from SOB occassionally
I want to seriously hurt the loud mouth who was, indirectly, responsible for Julio getting shot. I know this was a backdoor pilot so I figure the city lawyer woman is slated for that show. My problem with her was that she was too close to the ADA we met last season.
I thought this was a great episode with great tension. Though with the extreme violence of the son I was expecting the 'family business' to be the mob or something.
This episode was really interesting. It does seem like a back-door pilot, but it gave a refreshing and new take on a Major Crimes-involved case. I liked how the case involved so many different police units. Showing each of those units' POVs, and how they contribute to the case, gave a thrilling and seemingly realistic feel to how this episode's case was handled.
In terms of the characters, I like Commander McGinnis fine enough, but I hope they don't split up Fritz and Brenda just so the possible new show will have some "romantic chemistry" between the two of the likely leads. Also, the rest of the characters in this episode, including the two SWAT guys, and SIS agent Cooper, have potential to be interesting enough characters for the new show.
Only problem with this episode was that attorney, Lims, who is about as annoying as ADA Rios. Is someone on the show trying to model the characters the same, and why?
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
