That was one heartbreaking finale. From Audrey's demise to Heller's devastating reaction to the news to Jack turning himself over to the Russians. Easing some of that heartbreak is Cheng's long-awaited death and Chloe not suffering the same fate as Audrey's. I wanted to cry when Jack told Chloe that she was his best friend.
I'm sure I'm just like most of you who are true fans of 24 would love to see Jack Bauer catch a break one time. What happen in this episode is truly more than one man can handle. This was a very sad episode. And Mark has to know he was partly responsible for Audreys death if the Russians hadn't attacked Jack and Kate there's a good chance they could've gotten the override device and Audrey would've never been put in that position. My God what am I going to do with my Monday night
soooooo darn awesome that was!!!!! and the silent clock returned... twice! Once for Audrey and one at the end for.... Jack(?) really not sure what to think about that one but it seems that they're signalling the end for JB, but of course that could be left open for the future..... so glad to see things get relatively tied up, and really great scenes: when Jack found out about Audrey and the scene between Heller and the Prime Minister, and of course the Jack/Chloe moment at the end.... really well done. glad that Mark is getting his reward for being such a tool. I'm guessing they hinted that Kate was leaving the CIA completely since she left her credentials and weapon... of course there was some disbelief suspension as you'd think that if the Russians were following things so closely that they were able to isolate and take Chloe as Jack bait, that they could've gone in and taken Jack on the ship..... but regardless this was a very enjoyable ep and a consistently rocking season that gave us some much needed JB badassery in the summer! Hopefully we'll hear something soon about another season... even with Kate carrying the banner, she definitely earned her stripes...
I am pretty sure Jack will be ok in Moscow........I think Jack has something that could implicate Russia in this plot......I believe the exchange between chole and Jack, he give her something
Awesome, but wtf why they keep doing this to Jack... Its like US TV doesn't want to give main characters a happy ending, if they have killing people... same with Dex...
It really was a fantastic season, but now I just want more...
It could of been a Legendary series, but it will have to settle for Epic!
my condolences to all 24 fans, and i'm guessing kate's leaving the CIA when she put the gun and badge on her table and seriously who would blame her? surprised that they didn't give you 24 fans closure and satifaction
The 24 writers are sadists. First his wife is killed, then Renee and now Audrey. The obvious explanation is that someone put a curse on Jack Bauer's penis. The only reason Chloe has survived this long is because she has never slept with Jack. I'm trying to think of someone who has slept with Jack and is not dead. Nina Myers and the Mexican girl from season 3 are both dead also. I think maybe the blonde from season 2 could be the only exception, but who knows maybe something awful happened to her off screen.
Chief of staff position is cursed.......I think this third or fourth time the COS has been arrested of a serious crime.......Olivia Taylor, Rob Weiss, and now Mark
Awesome finale and season! Hope they make more! With GOT, 24 & true blood I am loving the summer TV:) stayed true to the old series so big well done writers cast & crew!
Unfortunately there are very few happy endings, in the world of 24. As for Monday nights, there is definitely a big hole there. I still got Falling Skies, and The Lottery starts next week. But it's not the same. I really hope, they go through with the rumored spinoff with Kate.
I agree LGS3 but of the heroes that have been on TV this guy definitely deserve A better ending than what they gave him. Remember in season six when Heller told Jack he was cursed boy was he right
What could be worse than having your daughter killed? Having your daughter killed and knowing you won't even remember she ever existed. Just devastating, really. Of course Jack suffered her loss (and a bunch of other stuff), but I don't think anyone could be in a worse position than Heller.
Let's wait and see, but I don't really know if there is a reason to bring the show back. Audrey is dead, Heller is dying, Chloe is going home, Kate is moving on with her life. There really is no one left he can fight for and he knows that when he gets involved there is an even higher chance that person will be in danger. I'd be happy if this was the end of 24, although it was completely heartbreaking.
I smell a sequel with Jack getting himself out of Russia. I thought Heller was going down with a heart attack after told of Audrey. Great acting. I would have preferred to lose Chloe and her cat eyeliner as opposed to JB, though. Thanks for filling us in!
Amazing season finale, full of heartbreaking moments, I was really sad when Audrey died, I was sad with the monologue speech of the president Heller at the end, I was sad when Jack find out about Audrey, I was sad when Jack tell Chloe she always was his friend, man, 24 makes one of his powerful season finales ever.
Cheng is dead and wow with an sword, how cool is that.
Jack mode after he knows about the death of his lover, wow intense action scenes.
A perfect season! Sure there are good new shows but nothing like 24. The friendship between Jack and Chloe is genuin - always was, Jack's despair over Audrey's death, Kiefer really was brilliant.. Kate's character was also a great addition, she was a perfect fit for Jack as a partner. I keep my hopes up that there will be a season 10, I am all in!
I'm getting some mixed emotions about how this day ended. If they are going to have a Day 10, I could except Jack giving himself to the Russians knowing he will get out for Day 10. If they decide this is the end, it really is an insult to the fans to have Jack's final end be in a Russian Prison or even worse. For all Jack has done for the world over the past 14 years, he deserves much more.
My dream would be that Kate will form a rouge team and break Jack out of the Russian prison leading to Day 10's events.
That was fantastic. Heartbreaking, crual, sadistic even, but above all very satisfying, emotional and powerful. That was a great comeback, I hope we'll get Day 10, but if we don't, that's a great series finale (I don't mind Jack accepting his fate and surrending himself to the Russians, he had it coming). That's a very dark finale, but then 24 has always been a tragedy, so as sad as it is, it's fitting Jack isn't riding free in the sunset, as much as we would want him to be truly happy for once.
I never worry about Jack. Guy's unstoppable. I expect he'll make it out of there alive. And I really quite adore Chloe. She started off as a huge irritant but she managed to win me over by the end of her first season on the show. I'd be devastated if she died. She really has been Jack's best friend for quite some time. Love them together. "Dammit, Chloe!" hehehe

Actually, you're right. Chloe was impressive as she maneuvered Jack through the hull of the ship at the end and helped him target the bad guys. She's always been there for him, and I do feel bad about Morris and her son being killed. She's had a tough go of it. They are one tough pair. I think it was the eyeliner that drove my husband and me crazy. I just wanted to wash her face!! I hope they return, because as much as I hated to see Audrey go (I think she and Jack still loved each other) Chloe and Jack are safe for now. As long as Heller can stave off his Alzheimer's disease, he can come back too! :-)
Only just had the chance to catch up on the last two episodes as I've been away, oh my god this was 24 at its best and I don't think I've cried so much at the show in its history, and that includes the devastating deaths of characters like David Palmer and Michelle.
Not sure what was more soul destroying; Heller admitting to the PM he won't even remember having a daughter, Jack's reaction to the news or the moment when Jack confesses to Chloe she was his best friend. So many tears. I really hope we get another season at some point and Chloe, Belcheck, Kate and maybe even Mark (who could do with some redemption) help save Jack.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
I can't believe it. I'm so crushed by that.
ReplyDeletepoor Heller! that final monologue...and Jack telling Chloe she was his best friend! such feels....
ReplyDeletethose trolls who voted poor and awful must not watch this show

ReplyDeleteOur cable went out just as Jack was telling Chloe she was his best friend. Can anyone fill in the rest?
ReplyDeleteoh man! It sucks especially for Jack. Great episode though. I really hope 24 returns next season.

ReplyDeleteTheory. Jack's going to Russia to get President Subarov.

ReplyDeletehow would he do that? we are assuming he still president and got away with serious criminal charges
ReplyDeleteIts Jack Bauer. He'll find a way :)
ReplyDeleteIn that case, as an armature writer I will kill the blonde lady from season 2 off.
ReplyDeleteShe died in a car accident one morning while going to her yoga sessions.
Not much. Jack trades places with her and gets on the helicopter. Last shot is of him looking sullen and accepting of his fate.
ReplyDeleteChief of staff position is cursed.......I think this third or fourth time the COS has been arrested of a serious crime.......Olivia Taylor, Rob Weiss, and now Mark

ReplyDeleteYou know Jack will not be found in Moscow. The Helo is going to be dropping like a stone into the river!
ReplyDeleteI watched the first 4 seasons, in the month prior to Live Another Day. This was the best episode, i've seen so far. A true 10/10.

ReplyDeleteWell, that was the most depressing finale ever. To quote my sister: "I'm going to go slit my wrists now and go to bed."
ReplyDeleteI hope so too with Kate!
ReplyDeleteI agree LGS3 but of the heroes that have been on TV this guy definitely deserve A better ending than what they gave him. Remember in season six when Heller told Jack he was cursed boy was he right

самая охренительная серия из всех 9ти сезонов!!!
ReplyDeleteit was fucking awesome!!!
I see possible scenario as Chloe and Kate go to Russia and save Jack :) why not?
