  1. When was the last time Nolan wrote an episode?

  2. Interesting! Wikipedia says this:

The Panopticon is a type of institutional building designed by the English philosopher and social theorist Jeremy Bentham in the late 18th century. The concept of the design is to allow a single watchman to observe (-opticon) all (pan-) inmates of an institution without the inmates being able to tell whether or not they are being watched.

  3. Thanks, I like their titles. Even more the episodes behind the titles :)

  4. The wait until September 23 just got a whole lot longer!

  5. Thank you. That's an amazing description. So, in POI terms, the single watchman is Samaritan/Machine and the inmates are the people/world, right?

  6. OMG A "Jeremy Bentham" reference with "Observer" concept!

"The Panopticon is a type of institutional building designed by the English philosopher and social theorist Jeremy Bentham in the late 18th century. The concept of the design is to allow a single watchman to observe (-opticon) all (pan-) inmates of an institution without the inmates being able to tell whether or not they are being watched. Although it is physically impossible for the single watchman to observe all cells at once, the fact that the inmates cannot know when they are being watched means that all inmates must act as though they are watched at all times, effectively controlling their own behaviour constantly. The name is also a reference to Panoptes from Greek mythology; he was a giant with a hundred eyes and thus was known to be a very effective watchman."http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Panopticon

  7. Did what I did too! So more "Locke" and "September" references :D

  8. Sounds like the premiere will be focused on Samaritan.

  9. I think it's going to be more about the behaviour with the knowledge about Samaritan. "Although it is physically impossible for the single watchman to observe all cells at once, the fact that the inmates cannot know when they are being watched means that all inmates must act as though they are watched at all times, effectively controlling their own behaviour constantly." - I think this will be the key factor of the episode (probably of the first few episodes). I assume the Machine will go on sending the irrelevant numbers (curious to see how will this be established now that the library has gone), but they will act in a way not call the attention of the other all-seeing-eye.

  10. The last time was "The Devil's Share".

  11. So "The Devil's Share" then. Cool. I thought he'd at least write the season finale though.

  12. With the exception of Ghosts, six of my top ten all-time Person of Interest episodes. This will be good.

Yeah, it was just such a great list I figured you'd want to see them all.

  14. Sounds good, I think this episode will show more of the new dynamic of this season I hope works, because the end of season 3 was a big and amazing change.

  15. "Although it is physically impossible for the single watchman to observe all cells at once, the fact that the inmates cannot know when they are being watched means that all inmates must act as though they are watched at all times"

This could also be a parallel to how we left our heroes at the end of season 3. They all have cover IDs now, and while they are protected from recognition for now, they need to really live double lives now.

  16. I think this is going to be the last season of POI. The show just is not interesting any more.
The season finale was totally lame. After this disappointing Season 3 they lost me as a viewer.
And if you take a look at the ratings i guess i'm not the only one who turned their back on the sho.
Such a shame it WAS such a brilliant show and now has complete gone downhill.

  17. Great, but Nolan is NOT writing this episode.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Maybe i visited the wrong site her...
So you really think they gained a whole lot more fans? Wake up and check out other sites...viewers are turning their back on this show. POI is dying.

  19. I guess the minority is always louder there.

nah if there are "So called fan" don't like the show don't watch it........there still lot of fans for POI.......haters going hater I guess

  21. Hmmm, very interesting title. Just looked at what it refers to.

  22. Guess you did. That site just seems to be haters of the show--I say if that's how you feel, you can always stop watching...If I felt that way, I sure would. I've done that on other shows that I initially liked, but I don't diss them on discussion boards just to be ornery. And for goodness sakes. Most shows would give thanks to have their ratings. They are still near the top of the pile!

    ReplyDelete
  23. Oh you think i'm a HATER?

Where is the hate in my post? I'm just a mega disappointed former fan who shared her thoughts online. Is that forbidden? That's the thing with those POI Fans they simply can't accept that not everyone kisses Nolans ass (and that my fren could pass as a hater post, right? )

If you had checked out that page correctly you would have noticed that there also were lots of positive views about the show. So no, it's not a Haters Site.

Do me a favor and compare the Season 2 and Season 3 ratings, you cannot hide that there is a mega drop in the ratings and PLEASE STOP IT WITH THE FAIRY TALE OF THE THURSDAY TO TUESDAY MOVE!!!

Nolan is busy with another project now: "Interstellar", starring Matthew McConaughey

Guys have you seen the latest casting news: http://www.deadline.com/2014/07/cara-buono-person-of-interest-cbs-bad-robot/

    Very, very intriguing.

A tiny concern though: Since this character will recur heavily, let's hope this doesn't mean that Reese is relegated even more to the background. I love the show(very much) the the path that the writers have taken it down but even so, by the end of S3, I had started to miss Reese being more involved.

Hope the site admins post a new thread for this.

  26. There is absolutely no indication that Reese'll be relegated. Even if he is, so what? There are tons of interesting characters in the show. Seriously, anytime a person wishes for a character (male or female) for more screentime just for eye candy is just cringeworthy.

That said, I'm not bagging on your opinion or anything :)

  27. Just saw this.

Don't get me wrong. I love this show to the point of craziness. I love each and every character that has been introduced and gone on to become recurring (for ex: Elias) or regular (Shaw and Root). I love the complex mythology, the increase in the overall Machine(s) plot as opposed to standalone csaes and I love it that the creators know what they're doing.

Do I miss Reese like the ones on Facebook and other platforms rant about? Do I want more of how the show was in S1? Do I hate Shaw and/or Root? Is my mind hurting because of the complex mythology? Do I yearn for weekly cases without any character development? Do I grudge characters (apart from Reese and Finch) having more screen time?

The answer to all the above is a resounding NO.

Even so, my personal opinion is that Reese could do with a bit more involvement on a regular basis. If that is not happening/ doesn't happen will I throw a tantrum or rage against the creators of the show? Will I go on Facebook and other problems and whine about it constantly? Again the answer is no. I will be treading whatever path the creators lead us, the viewers down with the same crazy love for the show that I have now.

P.S Did you read the latest TV Line spoiler about Cara Buono? Greg Plageman has said that she's not working for Decima. Is she then, an independent operator? Or Control's new right hand after Hersh's death? Or someone aligned to a new party that may be introduced in S4? I am very much intrigued.

    Thoughts?

  28. Thanks Deb. You're always "A" as far as I'm concerned. :)

With regards to Cara Buono, I think she's a new party too. Whatever it is, its just gonna complicate things more & I couldn't be more excited.
