Who will be this Nautilus' Nemo?
ReplyDeleteNautilus good reference to Nemo, maybe is another villain emerging or maybe other thing.
ReplyDeleteI doubt it. Nautilus can also refer to the golden spiral.
ReplyDeleteSo either another shared Fringe reference with shells and The Golden Ratio/Fibonacci Sequence and/or metaphor with the Pelaganic Zone and/or a reference to a submurine and by extension to Jules Verne (Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea and it's sequel, a shared LOST reference, with The Mysterious Island)....I'm thinking Decima centric episode or new villain?
ReplyDeleteA fringe reference is really a long shot..
ReplyDeleteFringe was actually referenced in the Pilot episode, as the names of Fringe characters appeared on emails and the actress that played Reese's love Interest (Jessica) also played a former love interest of Peter Bishop's (she had a one shot episode) and there is the episode where Kirk Acevedo guest stared also referenced Fringe and Alias. So it does happen on occasion, but in fact if you reread my post, I did not say that this was a reference TO Fringe, but rather if this is a reference to The Golden Ratio, then it is a subject that the shows both share, which the Golden Ratio was highly thematic to Fringe in particular and thus The Golden Ratio would be a reference they share.
ReplyDeletePersonally I think it's more likely a Jules Vern reference, which then would be a shared LOST reference.
Nice find! Very well could be!!! Thanks for sharing! :D
ReplyDeleteVery interesting analogy..
ReplyDeleteOf course, I forget about that, good man.
ReplyDeleteBad Robot (and sometimes by extension former Bad Robot writers) often reference, allude, and sometimes riff things pertaining to other Bad Robot works.
ReplyDeleteThe previous POI episode title for 4.01 references Jeremy Bentham, which is an ALIAS of John Locke's from LOST and is a reference (also like Locke) to a philosopher of the same name (J. B. also wrote some works with a pseudonym name such as, "Not Paul, But Jesus", and was a philosopher that contributed to the Utilitarian Code of Law).
Pre- Bad Robot work, Felicity, is also a Jeremy Bentham reference, as Jeremy Bentham believed in what he called "The Calculus of Felicity" (about measuring pleasure and pain) and where the TV show lightly touches on philosophy primarily from Noel (he was philosophy TA and a guidance councilor) and/or philosophy explored in literary works in some of Felicity's school subjects.
The 4.01 POI episode title also references Fringe with the idea of "Observers", as the architectural design is credited to Jeremy Bentham and has a unique "8" sided (8 = LOST number) vantage point...
And what was the name of that guy who KILLED Jeremy Bentham? ;)
ReplyDeleteXD Dean Mority, Harold Ren, Harold Finch, errr I mean Benjamin Linus :P
ReplyDelete"Yes John... I know her."
ReplyDeleteReese or Greer better watch it.
Oh yes, sorry! cell phone typo!
ReplyDeleteI have to point this out, but including actors from a show isn't necessarily a reference to Lost.
ReplyDeleteIt is when Bad Robot does it every single TV series that has ever aired.
ReplyDeleteHere's a Person of Interest page that has some of the LOST references I think from the episode Super:
http://seriable.com/person-of-interest-lost-easter-eggs-references-in-1-11-super/
But again, what I was saying is that also Bad Robot works don't just reference each other, but they tend to share pop cultural/historic references/subject matter.
