Amanda Setton is joining the cast of Hawaii Five-0 for its fifth season, TVGuide.com has learned exclusively.
The Crazy Ones alum has landed the recurring role of medical examiner Dr. Mindy Shaw, who will be Max's (Masi Oka) new trainee. Described as a smart young woman who takes initiative and turns in impressive work, Dr. Shaw will be introduced in the Season 5 premiere.
TVGuide.com teased the role earlier this month, when series boss Peter Lenkov revealed that the new character "will be there at crime scenes and be a voice in the ME's office."
In other casting news, TVGuide.com has also confirmed that Carol Burnett will reprise her role as McGarrett's (Alex O'Loughlin) aunt in Season 5.

Should be fun to see her on an already established show!
ReplyDeleteWell the character sounds interesting, lets see if she lasts for more than a season or two.
ReplyDeletehopefully the core 4 fans don't attack her even though her role is different being a ME
ReplyDeletePenelope!
ReplyDeleteShe's a woman AND she's getting screen time. That's all the excuse they need to hate her.
ReplyDeleteYay Amanda Setton! She's had my undying love since her "One Life To Live" days as scheming stripper Kimberly Andrews!
ReplyDeleteI think some fans will presume she McGarett love interest and will attack her on social media......I think having a bigger cast with some new character is always nice....can't have the same cast forever
ReplyDeleteThat's exciting (though I hope will still have fun Max moments at crime scenes). The news about Aunt Deb coming back has me worried, though, considering where we left that storyline off.
