Devious Maids - Long Day's Journey Into Night - Review

Please note: English is not my first language.

I've decided to turn this review around because I'm still not satisfied with my usual style lately. I will write this review based on feelings. There will be no recap for this one. Only my thoughts. I'm trying this because I want to see which style gets the most reactions from you guys. And I know I'm late with this review. I wasn't enthusiastic to write this review and kept postponing it. Now you will know why.

On the overall, I feel that Devious Maids is unoriginal the last time, especially this episode. Almost everything went the predictable way. Marisol's storyline was a little bit original because she uncovered another secret and that's why it went fifteen years before it blew up. Thought that Nicholas could turn Opal to the police if she was a burden. Her being the mother of Nick's child could be a big stake but seeing that they hadn't romantic feelings for each other, Nick could easily turn Opal in and keep Ethan. Or at least shoo her away by threatening to turn her in. Now we all know why, but not the HOW as Nicholas confessed to having killed him. Like Marisol, I was in a shock too. Who's he? Is he a relative unknown? Or a family member or dearest one of the one of our four leading ladies? I hope that it becomes true, because it would set up a great season three in my opinion. Maybe is it even the child of Evelyn and Adrian since this happened a few years back? Marisol is right in her mind to take off her ring. Although it was the easy way out, I feel. If your love is so big, could you give up on someone even though he did something worse? I would take time to think, and react later or depending on his sincerity. But in Marisol's shoes, it was secret after another secret and that gives her the right to react the way she wants.

Grade: B+

I'm so sorry for Valentina. She really can't catch a break. She thinks right but does wrong. Love makes blind here. Hats off to Remy who spills his thoughts but doesn't turn him in for Valentina's sake. I hate Ethan for using Valentina like this. He could go to Opal with this and she wouldn't turn him in. They even can ride off to the sunset or do it like Thelma and Louise and drive off a cliff. I don't care. Remy and Ethan continues to keep civil. At least Ethan can't go away with his wounds. Uh oh at Val getting caught.

Grade: B

Zoila and Genevieve continues to crack me up. I really hate Genevieve's mother and I totally don't blame Gen for the way she is with such a mother. She doesn't see it, huh? Zoila is on a roll lately with her conscience. Zoila continues to push Gen to try to care for her mother. I was happy to see that Gen came back and spills her feelings. She acts as a child again when the mother insults her. Enter heart attack and Gen thinks she's acting. It was funny. The mother is going back home and Gen is going to care for her. I wonder if they can mend their feelings and if she came back, will Gen be a totally new person? A beautiful scene with Zoila and Gen about Zoila being more a mother to Gen than reversed.

Grade: C+

I absolute loathe Reggie. Cant' blame Rosie for being naive but it's been too long. Although it's because of her being a immigrant. Nothing more to comment about this.

Grade: E

Finally a new storyline for Carmen. Tyler is out of the way. At least that looks like. I enjoyed Carmen for this time with her funny antics and partying with Spence. But I could foresee that this is gonna spiral out of control. Lucky Carmen isn't too shallow and quickly ends this before it went too far. But isn't it too late? At least it made up for funny scenes.

Grade: D

Notes:
-Best storyline goes to: Marisol. Worst goes to Rosie. She finally takes it from Carmen.
-Snappy oneliner of the week: Nothing memorable.
- Finally, Tyler is out of the way. At least I think.
- No photo caps except of the first. I didn't feel up for it.
- Do you feel the same as I? That Devious Maids is becoming more boring instead of OMG moments every episode back in season 1?
- The next review is gonna be up on Sunday, right in time before the next episode, so comment if you like this style?
