Better Call Saul - Timeline Revealed

Thanks to Jason for the heads up.

Better Call Saul is to be set before, during and after Breaking Bad

Flexible time line allows for the return of character played by Bryan Cranston, though executive producer Peter Gould seeks a story that 'stands on its own'

Maybe they should just call it the walking dead.

The producers of “Better Call Saul” — the eagerly anticipated “Breaking Bad” spinoff — tell The News they’ve figured out a way to bring back meth-master Walter White, the schoolteacher-turned-druglord played by Bryan Cranston.

Executive producer Peter Gould says that the show will feature scenes that move back and forth over several decades, including the era where Walter White cooked and sold crystal meth.

Initially, fans believed that the show would take place only in the 1980s and focus just on Saul, the wacky lawyer (played by Bob Odenkirk) who first appeared on “Breaking Bad.”

“One of the great things about having a time line which is flexible is that perhaps some of it takes place before ‘Breaking Bad,’ during ‘Breaking Bad,’ and after ‘Breaking Bad'. That gives us the ability to bring back characters that were killed on ‘Breaking Bad,’ ” he says.

Gould admits he and his team feel “enormous pressure” to produce the same kind of quality and and boffo ratings achieved by “Breaking Bad.”

  3. I'm scared. I'm afraid they're gonna ruin the legacy of the best show ever done.

  4. it should be interesting seeing what happened to Saul after he "disappeared" in the finale of Breaking Bad. And also would be great to see what happened with Jesse and Skyler years later.

    CAN'T WAIT FOR THIS!!!

  10. Ya it's one of those things where I didn't have cable at the start of the series and then just never got around to catching up and decided to wait till the series was over. I am currently watching @ 25 shows a year at this point (along with rewatches of certain shows into the next season) and so I've been a little busy...

  11. It would be great to see Gus right after his partner was killed. Basically how he started up his crystal meth empire... but Saul didn't know him back then so it would have to be a separate storyline. Now that Revolution is cancelled Giancarlo should agree to come back.

  12. Shannon remember Jonathan Banks is coming back to play Mike so yes Saul may have not met Gus but we know Mike will be on the show in a staring role so I believe we will see Gus through Mike's POV. I think it would be a 1-2 show cameo thing.

  13. Of course... but I'm interested to find out how the writers might accomplish this without bringing Saul into the fray. I would be kind of disappointed to only see Gus in a guest-starring role, as his character was like lightning in a bottle. I read the actor was only willing to accept a starring role in Breaking Bad, and since Better Call Saul is already renewed for season 2, I'm hoping Vince and Peter are already looking at bringing Gus back into the fold.
