Zap2it: What can you tease about the Season 3 premiere?
Haynes: I can tease an Olicity date. I think Roy and Diggle are aware of the chemistry. They're finally aware of it in the first episode. They're like, 'Huh?'
What is Roy going to be like in the new season?
The cool part about Roy is his dry sense of humor gets him in a little trouble, but I think you're going to see a lot more of his sense of humor this year. And he's also becoming Arsenal. I mean, that's going to be huge. He's such a bad-a** character.
It's the route that Roy Harper takes. He took three different routes [in the comics]: Red Arrow, Arsenal or Speedy. Arsenal is his true calling, and he's got a lot of bad-a** techniques that he learns along the way.
How is his life, post-mirakuru?
They're going to try to keep giving him the cure. If he doesn't have it, he's gonna kill more people. Possibly people that he loves -- so they've got to watch out.
Thea and Roy officially broke up in the Season 2 finale, before Thea ran away with Merlyn. Is there any chance of a reconciliation with Roy?
I think there's always a chance. They're true loves for each other, but Roy wants her to be happy over anything. And if that means they have to take a break or they don't ever have to get back together, he just wants her to be happy.

ReplyDeleteHold on. So the cure isn't a one time thing? They're going to have a tough time dealing with Slade's Army!! Also, love the "huh?'
Yeah, I'm also surprised at the cure not being a one time thing, not sure how I feel about it or what it means about Slade's army (if they even remember them).
ReplyDeleteThey probably won't waste screen time on them. Maybe we'll find out something in the comics? Presumably A. R. G. U. S. will stay on top of things in their usual creepy way
ReplyDeleteYou're probably right, not sure how I feel about it as a storyline for Roy, maybe they can find a permanent cure at some point this season.
ReplyDeleteAgreed. I'm tired of his Mirakuru woes. Though I guess it kind of parallels his heroin addiction in the comics.
ReplyDeleteI'm tired of the Mirakuru PERIOD, it added nothing to S2 or the flashbacks, was just a plot device and ruined Slade. But yeah, I guess it could parallel his heroin addiction in the comics.
ReplyDeleteYeah, it's sad Slade became bad. He's damn scary though. Was Slade Deathstroke in the comics too? I don't know that much about the comics.
ReplyDeleteI guessing what he saying about mirakuru is he is not actually cure? maybe there is still some side effect
ReplyDeleteI don't mind Slade becoming bad (yes he's Deathstroke in the comics, but there he's a mercenary and occasionally an anti-hero), what I mind is the stupid reason they gave him (Shado never felt the same way about him and it wasn't Oliver's fault, for him to go crazy and hold a grudge for 5 years and get those home videos of her like a stalker) and the Mirakuru messing with his head meant I wasn't even sure if I could take him seriously as a villain or if I should feel sorry for him for being out of his mind (and then of course they removed Oliver's responsibility by saying even if he had cured him, Slade would have hated him/gone after him). Sorry, I have a lot of Slade feelings, he was my favorite character in S1.
ReplyDeleteI agree! They never played up the Shado thing enough to make it such a pivotal point in the story. And the video and tattoo thing was just weird. He's definitely out of his mind, but I don't think I feel sorry for him. Not after his choice game with Oliver in 2x20. That was the most powerful scene ever in Arrow. That and ghost Tommy. I miss Tommy :(
ReplyDeleteI don't remember what Oliver said. I need to go back and rewatch. I guess they did that for our benefit, so we wouldn't feel conflicted. Haha no worries.
They should have gone for Slade/Shado in S1 instead of Oliver/Shado (yes, Oliver can keep it in his pants for one flashback year) and it would have made a bit more sense on Slade's side. And OMG, don't remind me of the tatoo- he memorized that tattoo and decided to give Oliver a matching one? WTF???? There's only so much 'he's crazy' can explain. I felt sorry for what became of his character, not for Slade on the show.
ReplyDeleteAnd yeah, it was done so we wouldn't blame Oliver for all the destruction Slade caused, because God forbid we feel conflicted, at least we don't have even more for Oliver to feel angsty about, LOL.
Haha poor Oliver. I'm glad he felt a little better though. He did go through a lot of rubbish this season.
ReplyDeleteYeah I hope 2.5 wraps it to quickly!
ReplyDeleteI know, that makes no sense to me. So they're keeping all of Slade's soldiers locked up and have to keep injecting them with the cure so they don't Hulk out again? Weird. They should have closed the lid on that storyline, IMO.
ReplyDeleteI was really intrigued when I first read this interview. If the cure is not the cure what is stopping Slade from breaking out of ARGUS Supermax prison in Lian Yu. He could simply tear through the walls using his super strength and healing abilities. Also believing Slade's super soldiers in some prison how will they contain them. Or is the cure ineffective for only Roy and Slade who had it for more time than the others. At least this will give Roy's storyline more relevance.
ReplyDeleteOMG yeah!!! I totally forgot about Slade! This is so weird. Do you think it's possible that the transcriber made a mistake or something?
ReplyDeleteSo I guess Roy will need a shot of the cure every day/week/month like a diabetic needs their insulin daily. or he'll go off.
ReplyDeleteI don't think so. Its Laurel Brown's blog. She usually gets it right. I think they went with this cure addiction so that they can use this as a way to reintroduce Slade by making him break out of prison. Or maybe we will see Amanda Waller controlling Slade and using him by controlling the dosage of the cure.
ReplyDeleteBut my main doubt is didn't Cisco and Caitlin at STAR labs make the batch of cure from the small sample of mirakuru that Oliver retrieved when he rescued Roy? And they used it all making that batch. I thought they said in Season 2 finale there was no way to make another batch. So where do they get more cure? Do they make it with Roy's blood? or Slade's blood for that matter.
I was kind of happy mirakuru had kind of left the show. That was too much power against Oliver's skill set. But its like Malcolm Merlyn. Always comes back in some form:)
Moreover what about Slade? If cure is not the cure how are they going to control him and what is stopping him from breaking out of that underground vault? Now I think it would have been better if Oliver and Co. killed the whole lot of them in S2 finale. Mirakuru just won't go away.
ReplyDeletewait the cure doesnt heal them completely? that's strange, maybe the cure controls his rage?? what about the remain of Slade's army the ones that they couldnt kill? are they giving constants dosis of the cure as well?..
ReplyDeleteAgreed. This sounds like either sloppy writing if they ONLY do this for Roy, or this will cause for an even bigger problem down the line for Ollie and his gang(unless Mirakuru is only seen as a "rise" of superpowered guys and most of Slade's army is locked up in a special facility for superhumans).
ReplyDeleteI imagine Slade would be getting the cure together with his food, somebody has to be feeding him on that island right? The same should be happening with the members of the mirakuru army. They were prisoners before so maybe getting the cure with their food also.
ReplyDeleteso roy is really going to become arsenal soooo awesome and roy and thea better get back together, it sucks that the cure is not that easy
ReplyDeleteYes, it'll be quite odd. Hopefully things will make more sense soon. October is soooooooo far away!
ReplyDeleteMaks sense, though I don't want to see much of Waller. I don't like her. I was hoping Mirakuru was done too. THey have so many cooler things to focus on this season. Like Felicity Flashbacks! Booyah!
ReplyDeleteI doubt they wasted any more time on the mirakuru......it will likely be a subplot and wrapped up in a few episode.....I think the writer have some lose end that they might want to tie up......we know the producer has preplan this season better than last
