FX boss John Ladgraf: #AHS Freak Show not quite as dark as Asylum, but less humor/camp than Coven. #TCA14

I wonder why it's so distinctive than the other seasons.
ReplyDeleteMaybe there is no supernatural?
ReplyDeletePersonally I feel all the seasons so far have been distinctive already but I'm interested to see what they mean.
ReplyDeleteVery nice to hear it's a nice medium between Asylum (best season) and Coven (fun I guess but by far the worst season)
Anyone know anything about Charisma ( Cordelia Chase - Buffy the Vampire Slayer ) Carpenter's upcoming role on "American Horror Story: Freak Show" ?
ReplyDeleteHmmmm! No new spoilers, this was more or less all well known. But I really look forward to this, especially since the teaser revealed last week.
ReplyDeleteLast season had it's solid moments but with everyone being able to get resurrected it wasn't really challenging.
Wait!!!! When was she announced to be part of the cast?
ReplyDeleteShe's going to be in it?! My excitement just freaking tripled!
ReplyDeleteNot that I have seen anywhere ... but ,,, I happened to stumble across it ( looking for something she was in ) over on her Wikipedia page, which I guess really means nothing until it's official been announced. Maybe it was suppose to be a surprise at comic-con.
ReplyDeleteIt's funny because last season they said Coven was going to be more like Murder House and it ended up being more like Glee.
ReplyDeleteI have 0 expectations and I have learned that TPTB lie a lot so this season could easily end up being another awful mess like Coven.
Yup, don't believe anything from Wikipedia until there's official confirmation.
ReplyDeleteOverall Coven was just a mess. It was by far the worst witch drama for TV that I've seen, which is almost all that I can find record of and copies of online. It's not even that I didnt like how they approached witches but Ryan even admitted in several of those EW interviews they totally wrote episode to episode, and their whims were more important than any structure. They thought something would be cool so they did it. And they ended up ruining it completely. Every episode seemed to set up some storyline but they'd drop it by the next. It was entirely too random.
ReplyDeleteAsylum was their best structured season so far and didn't feel like they were just throwing ideas at a wall, whether or not anyone likes the actual story I don't think the fact that it had the most throught through arcs can be debated. I really hope they make Freak Show feel this way, I'm still bitter over Coven.
I mean I would love for it to happen, but Wikipedia without refference isn't a confirmation at all. But who knows maybe they even pull Neil so Charisma wouldn't be a surprise.
ReplyDeleteThat is true, the story was all over the place couldn't connect to the characters, nothing at all. And that first episode seemed so promising, with Kathie B. creaming her face with fresh blood, VINTAGE! But no, they didn't have a constructive plan and even though I loved Sarah's performance Cordelia becoming the new Supreme was to random.
ReplyDeleteIt felt like they've got the Glee fever, just a mess. Hopefully S4 will be better, it seems quite promising.
I wanted it to be darker than Asylum. Damn.
ReplyDeleteI agree. It was obvious that whatever things they had planned they completely drop them and started doing episode to episode. Also Murphy admitted he changed whatever he had planned for Zoe and Kyle to make things "work on set" so that's why
ReplyDeleteSo long as they dial down the campiness, it should become watchable again.
ReplyDeleteI'm afraid I wouldn't be able to sleep at night if it were...Seriously, when I sat down to catch up on Asylum last summer late at night I had to have my dog behind me, because it really scared the shit out of me...I guess it was more due to the setting of the Briarcliff and then the whole Bloody Face plot (man, can Zachary Quinto be intimidating).
ReplyDeleteDon't worry it was like this for me too LOL...
ReplyDeleteI had to watch before the evening and in the living room with at least my mom watching the tv or my brother playing on his video game....
That's what I loved about Asylum, no tv show has scared me this bad ever since.
