Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., The Blacklist and The Mentalist from the list, and Other: Bones and Criminal Minds. OUAT too predictable and boring and I didn't like that they just had to throw in a cheap twist to Castle.
The list is for network TV so I'm going with Hannibal, Supernatural and Sleepy Hollow. None of the rest, that I watch, felt like a finale. I think when The 100 airs it's finale, it will top my list.
Chicago Fire had a big cliffhanger so that is my pick. Also Parks and Recreation finale was one of my favorite episodes ever it almost could have passed as a series finale.

I haven't seen all of these shows' season finales but, based on the ones I have seen, I would say Hannibal with its bloody momentary resolution to the Will-Hannibal relationship, Person of Interest with its gripping, nearly apocalyptic cliffhanger, and The Mentalist with its heartwarming Jane-Lisbon payoff.
Star Crossed should have been renewed that would have been my choice along with Arrow and Agents of Shield. Im disappointed that the CW haven't renewed a second series as it was one of my favourite shows
Had to vote for Agentas of SHIELD and Person of Interest. POI had the most dramatic WTF finale but Agents was sure as hell the most fun. If I had to chose Agents would win for actoin, drama a kick ass guest and laugh out loud moments.
Revenge, in my opinion. It gave some closure to a story that had been dragged a little too long and managed to completely change the game. I also really enjoyed The Originals and Sleepy Hollow.
I was a bit let down by Once Upon a Time. To be completely honest I haven't really been enjoying it since they defeated Pan. They have been taking the easy way out too many times lately, in my opinion.
And how come The Following is not on the list? Far from being my favourite finale, but many people seemed to like it back when it aired.
1. Person of Interest: That was one hell of a game-changing season finale, where the show made a full transition from procedural to a serialized format. Plus it is now officially one of the best TV shows around! 2. Arrow: An epic climax to what has been an already great season. Also in Oliver vs Slade (both past & present fights delivered in one free flowing sequence) they delivered the best action scene of the season. 3. Sleepy Hollow/OUAT/Agents of SHIELD: Tied together as all of them delivered equally high quality finales. P.S. OUAT: Hello...Elsa from Frozen is in Storybrooke!!! (screams of joy as I absolutely adore Elsa & the rest in Frozen)

I loved seeing rebekah on the originals and the converstaion that klaus and her had. Loved how they named the baby hope.
Even though it was a very heartbreaking ending on tvd, the acting was fantastic, especially paul wesley, nina dobrev and ian somerhalder. I loved seeing lexi and Alaric returning. I also loved bonnie and damon holding hands and getting ready to face the unknown together as friends after the fact they have a rough history together, but they put it behind them in tht scene.
Captain Swan! I loved all the scenes they had from him following her up to the kiss! The writers and all the actors did an excellent job!
Can't wait to see what happens in the new seasons!
Bones was good. While they have done versions of them being gone from the Jeffersonian in the past, this is new.
Castle was actually good until the last minute. Which was surprising because I thought it was going to be terrible. I don't know anyone who thought they could make the already married angle work. If someone said they watched the preview without thinking it was stupid, they are lying. However they made it funny, charming, and Castle was actually strong instead of petty or jealous.
The Blacklist was ok. I wish they would give us more answers. This is a show, that is probably going to suck in the long haul. Spader is the most entertaining person on tv, with breaking bad over. However he won't be able to prop up a show that's going drag out the main story-line too long. I can already see the headlines comparing this show to the mentalist. I really wish it was a serialized cable show, that lasted 50 episodes, probably would be great tv.
For me it is Revenge first and foremost. Then Arrow, Sleepy Hollow and Scandal. I'm sure Hannibal would have made my list, but I still need to catch up
It was not what a finale was suppose to be, there was no season build up and conclusion, the time travel was rushed and sloppy. They introduced a new storyline that had nothing to do with season 3. No climax as most finales should have.
Once Upon a Time was definitely the best for me on network TV. Wonderland's finale was perfect too.
Sleepy Hollow finale was good, I wasn't as blown away by it as most people.
Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. finale was very meh, I expected a lot more from it.
The finale's for Arrow, Supernatural & The Vampire Diaries were really disappointing imo, I won't be watching these shows next season.
I had stopped watching Reign but I caught up when I had nothing else to do, it was actually quite good, I'll see what kind of direction they go in season 2.
I still haven't caught up on The Originals but I doubt I'll be watching that next season either :/
Teen Wolf was by far my favourite finale of all shows I watch though. It was brilliant!
I have high hopes for The 100 finale given how unpredictable this season has been too.
I know the writer basically told us they were continuing to explore Lindsay/Severide next season, he obsessed with the idea. Just hope is is shown more on CF, if not FF button
Hannibal's finale was so damn good that I actually got chills. It's been many years since any tv show or movie has done that to me and I've seen a lot. Yeah it was THAT good!
I can't believe Bones isn't an option! It was voted best finale by TV Guide and TV Fanatic! I know this site isn't a Bones fan but this is a major fail :(
Well, It wasn't that bad either though the cliffanger wasn't great. Emma's journey was still good and I don't care about "captainSwan" whatsoever. The Mariane storyling is just bringing sloppy, uggly and unnecessary drama. It feels like everything is a big excuse to have evil Regina back on stage. It's just annoying.
Picked (not in order) The Originals, Arrow, Scandal, Once Upon a Time, and SHIELD...I would have picked Grimm but the tone of the finale was so different from the previous two seasons that it's coloring my perception.
Sadly, this season, I have not yet watched the finales of at least 2 of my favorite shows. They just haven't built my excitement this year.

I really enjoyed Sleepy Hollow and OUAT season finales, lot of twists, surprises and fun. And yeees, Captain Swan! :) Then The Mentalist was great. Actually I just can't believe it happened, I'm still shocked but so happy to be! Then Revenge, I really enjoyed all the scenes between Victoria and Emily especially that last twist when Emily left Victoria into the mental institution: "Good bye Victoria, get better soon"!
LoL! Don't get me wrong,fans are fans and god knows i've been watching Bones since day one and love it. But there are times when some people who only come here to vote can get a little taken away... I can't say it any nicer,lol..... :)
For this poll I'd love to pretend that Castle only had 22 episodes this season, Veritas was beyond awesome. Alas it had 23, so I went with The Originals.
I know. Man, I thought the three month summer break between seasons sucked, now we've got shows taking nearly a year, or at least a year, before they return! Agh. Hopefully season 3 will make the wait worthwhile, especially with all the stuff they can carry over from this season into that one.
I love Norma, too. Vera plays that role to perfection. Great description-you're right. I'm not used to short seasons, so many of the shows I watch tend to go up to the typical 20 some episodes, so watching a show that chops that number down significantly throws me a bit!
Thanks :) that's so true, Vera is awesome, you're spot on about her performance. Im excited for next season, but yeah, it does through you off, the shorter seasons and the lack of breaks compared to 20+ episode seasons and the longer breaks.
I've still yet to see "Hannibal"-it's on my "to check out" list, and I'm even more interested in seeing it because I'm so freaking curious about this past season's finale, what with everyone raving about it! I'm trying my damndest to remain unspoiled until I do see it.
I agree , their is a good finale and there is that finale. It is probably one of the best finales i have ever seen it was a pure masterpiece from start to finish.
Even if the show doesn't have big numbers, it has a rabid fanbase which votes furiously in every poll to get more recognition. This poll has been promoted on tumblr and twitter by the fandom: fans are voting as the results show it, we're slowly heading to the first place.
My opinion, Agents Of SHIELD hands down. I'm a DC fan through and through but that finale got me hooked on this show. It is everything a season finale should be.
If Supernatural fans didn't have a mindless mob mentality, it wouldn't even be on this list. Boring, over played "aww one of the brothers died never see that before, aww look one of the bad guys wasn't so bad, sorry we didn't get that until minutes before his death" story arc they've been pushing season after season with plot holes big enough to fit the Chrysler building. I loved the series up until season 3, and liked the series until 5, so seeing it fail so badly does hurt. However it has become a soap opera of bad writing and queer baiting that can only be matched by Glee. The term 'jumping the shark' comes to mind. I just wish the best for Jensen, Jared and Misha, as they deserve better than this.
SPN is already signed for it's 10th season (thank god). Praying that Hannibal and a few other awesome shows on this list are set for runs just as long!
Agents of SHIELD was the most satisfying for me, because it was fun, moved plot, had good guest stars, kickass action, great lines, well-rounded in featuring each of the main cast, and was just generally very entertaining.
The Blacklist and Person Of Interest were both extremely well done, although not as uplifting as SHIELD's season finale.
Of course Hannibal! But the most shocking and thrilling for the next season is definitely Supernatural. Besides that, I also want to mention Revolution - even though the show was closed, its finale was sooo promising! Such a pity.

ReplyDeleteFor this poll I'd love to pretend that Castle only had 22 episodes this season, Veritas was beyond awesome. Alas it had 23, so I went with The Originals.

ReplyDeleteI know. Man, I thought the three month summer break between seasons sucked, now we've got shows taking nearly a year, or at least a year, before they return! Agh. Hopefully season 3 will make the wait worthwhile, especially with all the stuff they can carry over from this season into that one.
ReplyDeleteYeah, it sucks, I hope so, can't wait to see more Norma also, she's so funny and crazy. 10 episodes finishes so fast, it's like a long movie.

ReplyDeleteGreat description-you're right. I'm not used to short seasons, so many of the shows I watch tend to go up to the typical 20 some episodes, so watching a show that chops that number down significantly throws me a bit!
Thanks :) that's so true, Vera is awesome, you're spot on about her performance. Im excited for next season, but yeah, it does through you off, the shorter seasons and the lack of breaks compared to 20+ episode seasons and the longer breaks.

I've still yet to see "Hannibal"-it's on my "to check out" list, and I'm even more interested in seeing it because I'm so freaking curious about this past season's finale, what with everyone raving about it! I'm trying my damndest to remain unspoiled until I do see it.

ReplyDeleteYeah it really was pretty boring and destroying Regina's happiness was incredibly lame. Not really interested in the Frozen stuff either.

ReplyDeleteI liked the last scene quite a bit but felt that most of the episode was pretty standard fair and so I didn't vote for it.

Bones' finale hasn't been shown in the UK yet so I can't comment on that but for me, much as I love Castle, The Mentalist won hands down. Brilliant.
ReplyDeleteEven if the show doesn't have big numbers, it has a rabid fanbase which votes furiously in every poll to get more recognition.

The whole season was a masterpiece, it deserves some awards.
ReplyDeleteMy opinion, Agents Of SHIELD hands down. I'm a DC fan through and through but that finale got me hooked on this show. It is everything a season finale should be.
ReplyDeleteDear God, I love Supernatural, but oh my goodness, this season AND the last one were the most boring seasons that have ever been through production!
ReplyDeleteIf Supernatural fans didn't have a mindless mob mentality, it wouldn't even be on this list. Boring, over played "aww one of the brothers died never see that before, aww look one of the bad guys wasn't so bad, sorry we didn't get that until minutes before his death" story arc they've been pushing season after season with plot holes big enough to fit the Chrysler building. I loved the series up until season 3, and liked the series until 5, so seeing it fail so badly does hurt. However it has become a soap opera of bad writing and queer baiting that can only be matched by Glee. The term 'jumping the shark' comes to mind. I just wish the best for Jensen, Jared and Misha, as they deserve better than this.

ReplyDeleteAgents of SHIELD was the most satisfying for me, because it was fun, moved plot, had good guest stars, kickass action, great lines, well-rounded in featuring each of the main cast, and was just generally very entertaining.
ReplyDeleteThe Blacklist and Person Of Interest were both extremely well done, although not as uplifting as SHIELD's season finale.
Of course Hannibal! But the most shocking and thrilling for the next season is definitely Supernatural. Besides that, I also want to mention Revolution - even though the show was closed, its finale was sooo promising! Such a pity.

ReplyDeleteThat's exactly how I feel. Supernatural's been 'guilty' of manufacturing unnecessary drama between the Winchester brothers for the last two seasons.
I'm more than a bit shocked that Bones didn't make the list. It was my favorite finale of all my shows and the best one they've had in years, IMO.

I know the season is officially over, but you should have waited for The 100, which had a terrific finale. or at least put in Other as option.
