Wild Wild West, Maverick, Stargate, Buck Rogers.
ReplyDeleteCan I choose Fringe already?
ReplyDeleteStargate! God i miss that show.
ReplyDeleteMagnum was the best!
ReplyDeleteAlien Nation might be a good idea. Star Trek has already been rebooted in a way with the 2009 movie, whilst I would love the cast of that to do a TV series it won't happen but I do want a new Trek show.
ReplyDeleteBonanza. I think a reboot would be interesting. Not much in the way of westerns on TV right now.
ReplyDeleteUse Continuum's time travel technology to bring Diana Rigg of the 1960's (the prototype of all modern-day kick-ass heroines) into the present day and then reboot The Avengers :)
ReplyDeleteThe Prisoner... a reboot that doesn't completely suck.
ReplyDeleteStargate and Kung Fu
ReplyDeleteyeah.. westerns... the more the better....
ReplyDeletebesides horror they are on my list of favs...
I loved Maverick...
I could sit and watch the westerns on Encore all day.....
I used to say Blake's 7, if not because Terry Nation had a great idea for showing us the final days of Kerr Avon then for showing where Orac disappeared to, but modern society seems to have embraced the surveillance dystopia that British television from this era warned us was coming...
ReplyDeleteFrom the list: Buck Rogers, Max Headroom, and Rockford Files
I like to think of Orphan Black as the unofficial/unauthorised remake of The Prisoner that Patrick McGoohan would have enjoyed having a cameo role in.
ReplyDeleteI keep meaning to watch it.
ReplyDeleteBuck Roger and Wild Wild West, and Lost in the Space
ReplyDelete"2. Star Trek: Sequel in the original universe. 27th to 29th century before the Temporal Accords, and regular time travel. The Federation is in trouble, and many planets have left."
ReplyDeleteThere was a rumor a couple of years ago and apparently that exact premise was what was being pitched to the networks as a Star Trek reboot. A time when the Federation is looking for Captain Kirk type heroes.
From this list: Stargate. I miss this show SO MUCH! Star Trek and Rockford Files.
ReplyDeleteNot on the list: Farscape 20 years later and Babylon 5.
Oh,just noticed The Avengers....definitely!
So will the next ST franchise air on CBS or CW? I'm really surprised a new franchise hasn't emerged yet.
ReplyDeleteYeah i read about it. Sounds like a great premise for a Trek Sequel!
ReplyDeleteBonanza has had a sequel, and a prequel. The sequel fell apart, when Lorne Green died. The prequel was ok, but they change a few things. Little Joe was right handed instead of a lefty, and the changed how Eric got his nickname Hoss.
ReplyDeleteThe fugitive sounds like itd be intense or the twilight zone.
ReplyDeleteI tried to get a mix; Babylon 5 is one of my favorite series, so, if done right (Psi-War with Bester), yes!
ReplyDeleteWWW I think would be an excellent show to redo. Even with the cliff-hangers for commercials.
ReplyDeleteYes, The Avengers with Steed and Peel
ReplyDeleteDark Angel
ReplyDeleteThey have already had two sequel series of Maverick, both unsuccessful.
ReplyDeleteThe movie reboot makes it unlikely.
ReplyDeleteThey are currently developing a Rockford Files movie, being rewritten as a Vince Vaughn vehicle, I believe.
ReplyDeleteFrom the list, I would choose Alien Nation, Quantum Leap, MacGyver, and Stargate. Star-Crossed tried to be a little more like Alien Nation and if they had marketed it as such I think it would have done better in the ratings. Quantum Leap feels like it could work now that special effects are better overall and its procedural nature would help sell it even if it's sci fi. Some of my favorite parts of TV shows like Royal Pains is the way they MacGyver things so why not bring back the original. As for Stargate, there's no reason not to bring it back in some incarnation. It was one of the most successful sci fi shows ever and I still miss it. There are a lot of ways to go with a Stargate series.
ReplyDeleteI am excited about the movie but Vince Vaughn is no James Garner. I think a reboot of the show would be even better than the movie but i haven't thought about whom i would like to see play Jim Rockford?
ReplyDeleteBuffy and Firefly!
ReplyDeleteOh My! Thank you so much! I didn't see The Avengers on the list either. It would have been absolutely on my list!
ReplyDeleteSo agree with you about Diana Rigg/Emma Peel and so disagree about WWW that I found really fun & entertaining as a little girl. :D
ReplyDeleteQuantum Leap would get my vote from this list.
ReplyDeleteI didn't see it first but yeeees to The Avengers with Emma Peel!
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed WWW as a kid, too. As an adult, though, the concept of the Show (James Bond and Inspector Gadget meet the Wild West) just doesn't do it for me anymore. I'd prefer a pure western, now.
ReplyDeleteI think an unusual choice but one who could do it is Leonardo DiCaprio. There is a bit of a Maverick in him in Titantic, and that would be a good start.
ReplyDeleteI didn't really care much for SG-1 (don't know why), but I loved Stargate Atlantis and Stargate Universe. Anything along those lines would see me very interested :)
ReplyDeleteI'm wondering whether The Rockford Files and Magnum shouldn't be part of another poll, namely: Which shows would be the hardest to reboot, because the popularity of the original depended so much on the unique qualities of the lead actor or actress?
ReplyDeleteMan, those are awesome choices just reading the list brought back great memories, Quantam leap, American Hero, Wild Wild West, way ahead of its time, Buck Rogers, man I loved those shows, and & Max Headroom those were good times:-)
ReplyDeleteThat's jsut the opposite for me. I never got into SG Universe and I probably would have dropped Atlantis if it hadn't gotten cancelled. But man did I love the character of Sg-1.
ReplyDeleteActually I agree. I think he coud pull off the swagger and the gravity well.
ReplyDeleteNo not Vince Vaughn! I loved Rockford and I would hate to see him ruin the role. In case you can't tell, I can't stand Vince Vaughn. He isn't exactly right, but I'd prefer someone more likable like Misha Collins.
ReplyDeleteI could never see Misha Collins as Rockford, but I agree that Vince Vaughn seems like an odd choice.
ReplyDeleteMe too! I loved every single character in this series. I still watch the show, if not every day at least 4 times a week for i need my fix. Stargate Atlantis wasn't bad but i found and at least they incorporated SG1 throughout the series. Universe i didn't care too much for,it was too slow moving.
ReplyDeleteOh noo,not Misha Collins. He isn't right for that part either.
ReplyDeleteHe might just be able to pull it off!
ReplyDeleteI actually could see Vince Vaughn pulling it off, he's the right hight and he does kinda have Jim Rockford swagger :-)
ReplyDeleteI guess I see Vaughn as too much of a goofball in general.
ReplyDeleteI actually think he would be worse. Misha needs an oddball comedy to headline instead.
ReplyDeleteLol!!
ReplyDeleteHmm,Oddball comedy. That sounds right up Misha and Vince's alley!
ReplyDeleteHA! Of course you too my dear screen sis! :D
ReplyDeleteHa! They could pair together for it. I think that's a splendid idea. Someone pitch that in. Better than the vast amount of utter rubbish that gets picked up these days.
ReplyDeleteI get your point of view and I like pure westerns too, but I still would like to see a good WWW reboot with a lot of fun and a great sense of humor. I remember I also loved The Adventures of Brisco County Jr.
ReplyDeleteI don't see anyone as Jim Rockford except James Garner, that's why I'm not excited by the idea of a reboot. But actually you could be right about DiCaprio, at least he's an interesting choice!
ReplyDeleteMe too! :) I loved every single character in SG-1! I simply grew up watching it. AND I still do, not as often as you do, only occasionally! I remember watching it at home with my brother... so good memories!
ReplyDeleteMacGyver, Star Trek, and Stargate
ReplyDeleteOnly if it's SGU.
ReplyDeleteThough I LOVE MacGyver.. I'm not sure about a remake with someone else.. can't picture anyone other in the role than Richard D. Anderson :'| so I just pick Quantum Leap :)
ReplyDeleteMission: Impossible to me never gets old. I loved the 90's remake
ReplyDeleteStar Trek~
ReplyDeleteA new TV series set in the movie continuity. Expand on the new continuity with a new cast in-between movies.
Stargate
ReplyDeleteFarscape. Firefly. More recently Primeval and at least another season or to of Alphas.
ReplyDeletefrom the list: Quantum Leap and MacGyver
ReplyDeleteoff the list: Early Edition
Watched only MacGyver, Star Treck, Magnum P.I., Star Gate and Quantum Leap but none of them I would like to reboot cause they are so iconic and very unique. Maybe sequels but some shows already have of some sort. I liked short aired show called "Prey" about next evolution of humans. It was more of a scientific one not X-man like one. Also "Pretender" was great and I still can't belive they killed it and I like still waiting for at least conclusion or something... There was another good show called "Veritas" which aired 13 eps and ceased to exist due to some events at that time if i am not mistaken.
