So Many good shows on the list , but went with Fringe and Falling Skies.
ReplyDeleteRevolution, always and forever :)
ReplyDeleteFringe without even thinking, Revolution was my second pick, but could just as easily gone with TTP, Continuum, Torchwood or Under The Dome.
ReplyDeleteFringe and Doctor Who
ReplyDeleteRed Dwarf was good in its hey day but I haven't liked it since it came back.
Not on the list:
I would argue Black Mirror is sci-fi, completely terrifying and horrifying visions of what the near future could be like.
Alphas, I still miss this show, go damn that cliffhanger.
I was going to add Dollhouse but then realised it ended in Jan 2010, jeez where has the time gone?
Fringe, Doctor Who, Continuulm in that order
ReplyDeleteHonourable mention - Eureka, Falling Skies, Stargate SGU
I really liked Almost Human (even if it was short lived) but otherwise Doctor Who is awesome, and David Tennant and Matt Smith made it so much more enjoyable. It's a fun show, and I personally adored Amy Pond, oh Karen Gillan :)
ReplyDeleteBut Jenna Coleman's awesome too.
No Almost Human or SGU? Doctor Who doesn't really belong, since it's been running for a lot longer than within the past 5 years.
ReplyDeleteFirefly... Duh.
ReplyDeleteThat was not within the last 5 years.
ReplyDeleteFringe was so awesome and promising, in the beginning. Somewhere along the road it got so confusing. From the other shows listed, couple of them started and abandoned quite quickly (defiance, warehouse 13). Revolution I watched to the end, but meh. Under the dome so soon, need to see more. The others I have never watch, since I don't know if they are worth it.
ReplyDeleteSo my vote will go to falling skies, which might not be great, but I fairly enjoyed watching it back to back all together.
FRINGE.
ReplyDeleteFringe and Orphan Black easily are the best sci-fi shows of the past 5 years, and 2 of the best shows that have ever graced TV with their presence.
ReplyDeleteAnother strong contender is Continuum.
Went with Doctor Who and Warehouse 13 love these shows but have to say all the shows on the list is good
ReplyDeleteRevolution forever!
ReplyDeleteDoctor Who and Torchwood. :)
ReplyDeleteDoctor Who and I voted for The 100. Fringe definitely had its moments. And I still miss Torchwood.
ReplyDeleteDoctor Who and Other: The Fades
ReplyDeleteFor me its FRINGE! I other favorite was WH13, Eureka and Haven...
ReplyDeleteI MISS YOU REVOLUTION!!!
ReplyDeleteYou seem to have quite a few missing from your list.
ReplyDelete1. Battlestar Galactica (ended in 2010)
2. Fringe
3. Orphan Black
4. Continuum
5. Doctor Who
Honorable Mention goes to Almost Human.
Fringe and Orphan Black and its not even close.
ReplyDeleteBattlestar Galactica, without question! Then Dollhouse. Then Fringe and Doctor Who.
ReplyDeleteNever heard of Black Mirror was it a UK series? and i cannot believe it was only 3 years ago that Lost ended its run, feels like forever.damn... :(
ReplyDeleteFringe, of course.
ReplyDeleteAnd Orphan Black.
Fringe, Torchwood and the 100.
ReplyDeleteSeriously? Wow, I am getting old fast.
ReplyDeleteBased on the poll question....................Continuum and Orphan Black! Time - Travel and Clone Drama at it's finest. Nobody, 4 NOW!!!
ReplyDeleteorphan black and continuum. though i haven't seen fringe yet
ReplyDeleteFringe hands down was the best followed by Dr. Who and Defiance.
ReplyDeleteahhhhhh SOB, am I the only one that has Heroes on my list?
ReplyDeleteI think i'll go down memory lane and list the shows I miss past 5 years.
The 4400
Jake 2.0
Stargates
Startreks
Andromeda
Jericho
Sliders
The Dead Zone.
Yeah its British, it is an anthology series only been 6 stories so far though they plan to do another season. Its really messed up at times and devastatingly sad in some of the stories but very thought provoking. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_Mirror_(TV_series)
ReplyDeleteI miss Lost a whole lot, as its coming up to ten years since the show started I'm planning a rewatch this summer/fall. I will cry lots.
It'll be the four year anniversary ( Lost going off the air ) in just a few days on May 23rd.
ReplyDeleteLost & Fringe get my vote.
ReplyDeleteOther: Haven (my favorite), LOST, Orphan Black, Almost Human, Arrow, Person of Interest, Eureka and Heroes (the 1st season)
ReplyDeleteOn the list: Continuum Fringe and The Tomorrow People (in that order)
Fringe And Continuum
ReplyDeleteAs a lieflong follower of Doctor Who, my vote has to go to... Orphan Black. With special mention to Revolution, Haven, and Falling Skies.
ReplyDeleteStar-Crossed
ReplyDeleteBeauty and the beast
ReplyDeleteEasily Fringe is the best and then Doctor Who.
ReplyDeleteLOST as well obviously if it counts
ReplyDeleteFrom the list: Doctor Who, Torchwood, and Warehouse 13
ReplyDeleteNot on the list: Eureka
A few others not on the list:
ReplyDeleteAlmost Human
Star Wars: Clone Wars
Orphan Black
Person of Interest
Helix
Intelligence
Warehouse 13
Futurama
Primeval
Primeval: New World
Eureka
Alcatraz
Chuck
Terra Nova
The Event
Stargate Universe
V
Outcasts
Caprica
Persons Unknown
FlashForward
Survivors
Defying Gravity
Hey, yes, Person of Interest is technically science fiction, although given what is happening with the NSA, etc., not so much now....and it is far and away the best in writing quality, acting and just overall brilliance, IMO! Fringe was in the past, definitely.
ReplyDeletePoI is very much sci-fi, not because of government surveillance, but because of the artificial intelligence.
ReplyDeleteNot surprised Fringe is at the top of this ;-)
ReplyDeleteStill bitter about the last season of Warehouse 13 so no vote there. Of these Defiance, Star-Crossed, The 100, Doctor Who (the Tennant years), and Fringe are my favorites. Under the Dome and Revolution had excellent premises but faltered in execution. Still need to watch Falling Skies. Off the list, Orphan Black wins. Then Helix, Primeval: New World, Person of Interest, and Almost Human.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the info,i found it online will be watching tonight or tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteYa! I still keep thinking its 2013! :P
ReplyDeleteWell, originally Science Fiction was more about things that were at the time fantasies, not reality, i.e., Jules Verne types of stories, things that he imagined, but were not real at the time. AI is real, not just in someone's imagination now, so I wouldn't really consider AI as science fiction at this point in time when it is being written. POI is becoming more of a reality every day now. Using AI for universal surveillance used to be more of a fantasy, such as 1984 when it was written or other stories of that ilk. Space travel was once pure science fiction, a la Jules Verne (From the Earth to the Moon), but is now reality. Going beyond the reality to new levels is still science fiction, but often becomes reality later. That's why I qualified my thinking of POI as science fiction, and it was not just the mere idea of government surveillance. It was more the idea of universal surveillance falling under the idea of science fiction then, but less so even now a short time later. Science fiction can more rapidly become science fact now, at a startling rate.
ReplyDeleteHope you enjoy it, though it is very weird hah
ReplyDeleteSure, AI has been around for decades, but the AI in PoI is self aware which is definitely sci-fi.
ReplyDeleteFringe and Haven!
ReplyDeleteTerminator: SCC, such a great show killed by writers strike and of course FOX
ReplyDeleteFringe!
ReplyDeleteFringe, Falling Skies, then TTP and Continuum
ReplyDeleteFrom the list: Fringe
ReplyDeleteNot Listed: Almost Human, Person of Interest
The 100 the best fiction of the last 5 years? ahahahaha AUFKM???
ReplyDeletePerson of Interest, hands down.
ReplyDeleteFRINGE!!! Miss so much. Best show ever. ♥
ReplyDeletecan't choose just 2, for me it's Fringe, Continuum and Defiance
ReplyDeleteStargate SG-1 & Atlantis, Sanctuary, Falling Skies, Revolution, Continuum
ReplyDelete[cosima voice] Orphan Black man
ReplyDeleteVIVA LA REVOLUTION #RELOCATEREVOLUTION
ReplyDeleteUhhhhhhh where the Frak is Battelstar Galactica!? How am I the only person to have mentioned it?!
ReplyDeleteBattlestar Galactica hands down!
ReplyDeleteHey Assbutt, I like your profile pic!
ReplyDeleteFRINGE FOREVER!!! #RewatchFringeInSeptember
ReplyDeleteMy number two is revolution, but I have not yet watched Dr Who. (I really need to) so sad Revolution was canceled!
You have to ask? FRINGE!!!!!!! always and forever, still rewatching, never gets old.
ReplyDeleteDid I mention FRINGE!!!!!
I watched most of those on the list, but Revolution was my absolute favourite! Can't believe it was cancelled - it had a great storyline, awesome characters, and a cast that was way too good-looking for its own good!
ReplyDeleteI agree!
ReplyDeleteMe too!
ReplyDeleteSeriously watch Continuum into season 2 and you will be more than hooked... but likely put it in your all-time top-10 ;). Show just keeps getting better and more cool
ReplyDeleteAmen.
ReplyDeleteFringe & Doctor Who are ahead of the rest by leaps & bounds. Doctor Who in particular is unparalleled across the sc-fi world...and it celebrated it's 50th Anniversary last year (I'm not kidding...50 years!), while Fringe is the most mind-twisting, mind-blowing, crazy-like-hell-plot-generating show since "Lost".
ReplyDelete- BTW why isn't Lost included here. It's finale season aired 4yrs ago in 2010. Boy...what a spectacle it was!
Lost and Fringe of course!!! I'm still so missng these amazing shows.
ReplyDeleteFringe, always.
ReplyDeleteRevolution 1st and only pick
ReplyDelete#StarCrossed the best all around!!!
ReplyDeletewalking dead?
ReplyDeleteStargate Universe
ReplyDeleteI voted for The 100 & Continuuum.
Fringe and sanctuary. I wish the poll would stretch another five years, it'd be much easier to just put Battlestar Galactica lol 😁
ReplyDeleteFringe will always be my # 1
ReplyDeleteBut of all years:
Fringe
BSG
Firefly
Lol - I thought I was the only one who had BSG on their list !
ReplyDeleteHave the entire series - I have a yearly summer binge ....... It's almost time again !
I own it on Blu-ray as well. I rotate seasons with Farscape & Babylon 5 on Friday nights, for my space opera fix. I just started season 1 last Friday, and watched the miniseries on the two previous Fridays.
ReplyDeleteThe Walking Dead is awesome. But it's horror, not science fiction. Game of Thrones & Lost are fantasy, which is why i didn't mention those greats as well.
ReplyDeleteAlphas
ReplyDeleteWhen tv slacks I bring out my binge-worthy shows:
ReplyDeleteBSG
Fringe - I'm on S5 now
Lost
Firefly
Falling Skies - watched previous seasons for premiere t'nite
I can't count the times I have re-watched each one -
They were (and are) my favs !
I would like to add :
Helix
Eureka - silly crazy and pure guilty pleasure : )
Lost is my current Sunday 8pm show. I'm watching season 5, tonight the episode "3:16". I'm watching Fringe & Alias on Saturday nights, if i'm home. It's my first time for both, i'm in season 1. I'm only going to watch one season a year. I watch Firefly and the movie Serenity every few years or so.
ReplyDeleteI haven't got to Eureka yet, i've seen a few back when it was on. But i didn't have the time back then. I'll get around to it, one of these days. I also am going to start Dexter (first time through) after The Bridge finishes season 2. I rotate seasons of Breaking Bad, The Sopranos, and Boardwalk Empire Sundays at 7pm. It's my first time them as well. I'm currently in season 1 of BE, next will be BB season 2.
Add in all of the current "genre" shows, i've started in the last couple of years, I've got plenty to keep me busy over the next 4 or 5 years.
Watched Black Mirror a few weeks ago. Really enjoyed both first episodes of the two Series. Engaging stories and some familiar faces (Agent Carter, Edmure Tully etc.) The others ones were fine, but I won't necessarily rewatch again.
ReplyDeleteHow did you like them?
I've been so busy i haven't had a chance to watch it yet. I'm already behind in the shows that just started its summer run! :P
ReplyDeleteThe Amazing Revolution!
