CBS' monster hit Under the Dome is losing one of its key players.
Writer/executive producer Brian K. Vaughan has exited the summer sci-fi series, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.
Sources tell THR that it was Vaughan's decision to exit the series; he arced out season two with Baer before his departure.

Okay lets be honest here, it's not a monster hit. Almost everyone I've spoken to doesn't even seem to like the show. Reviews from professionals are middling at best, and reviews from the usual viewers are even lower than that.
ReplyDeleteThank God. I hated that this talented guy was associated to this steaming pile of sh$%.
ReplyDeleteI really dislike the show myself but it is definitely a monster hit in terms of ratings especially for a summer show. It may be terrible but it is popular.
ReplyDeleteI hope Brian K. Vaughan can get a Y:The Last Man series/film up and running at last or adapt Saga for the big screen. He is talented but UTD was so disappointing especially as a fan of the book.
ReplyDeleteTerrible but popular...sometimes I hate television.
ReplyDeleteVaughan and Staples have said that they want to avoid any adaptation of Saga. But I'd be down for an epic The Last Man HBO series!
ReplyDeleteI watched the show for him in the first place. I have to admit my deception with UTD. The pilot was great, the rest not so much.
ReplyDeleteIndeed, its how I feel about most CBS shows!
ReplyDeleteI can see why - Saga would be really difficult to get right. HBO Last Man series oh hell yes that would be incredible.
ReplyDeleteThere will always be a group of people hating on something, and they tend to speak the loudest. They aren't everyone, however, and Dome is very popular around the world. I love the show, but I won't even think arguing with people who don't, because I know that "haters will hate".
ReplyDeleteUnder the Dome, a monster hit?
ReplyDeleteCorrect me if I'm wrong, but wasn't Under The Dome one of the highest viewed new shows last year? I seem to remember it being the highest but I could be wrong.
ReplyDeleteI'm confused. When did everyone start to hate this show haha? It's not incredible, but there's plenty of shows out there that are a lot worse.
ReplyDeleteThere's a difference between a hit and monster hit.
ReplyDeleteYou can't get much bigger than the biggest hit of the season and a worldwide number 1. It's practically kraken sized.
ReplyDeleteYeah I know, it's done quite well for a show that you don't consider a monster hit hasn't it?
ReplyDeleteI rest my case because it's pointless trying to explain the difference between hit and monster hit to a fan-tard like you. Carry on.
ReplyDeleteIf you don't class the number one show of the season with incredible summer ratings, and a worldwide highly rated show then what would you class as a monster hit then?
ReplyDeleteHe is not being a fan-tard, you are the one being a hater. Under the Dome was the biggest scriptted hit of last year and it was the biggest summer hit in god know how long, which has a lot of value because viewership in the summer is considerably lower than during regular season. That's not a matter of opinion and it's not something that can be influenced by preferences ,they are facts. The show could fall to a 0.0 rating this year and it wouldn't invalidate the fact that it was a monster hit last year. Feel free to ignore the facts, since you appear to love doing so very much ;)
ReplyDeleteHush, I'm not being a hater. Just so you know, I watched every episode of Under the Dome.
ReplyDeleteGame of Thrones - yes, you can call it "monster hit". Why? Because ratings/share and viewership continue to improve on every episode, whereas, with Under the Dome, it's a see-saw on both ratings and demo.
Oh, just because someone tells another valid fact on your beloved show doesn't necessarily makes him/her a hater.
It doesn't take rocket-science to understand the difference, again, with "hit" and "monster hit". I can settle with "hit" but "monster hit"? NO. But this is CBS' PR Jedis (and fantards) so...
true but that doesn't make this show any less terrible, but i get your point!
ReplyDeleteGoT is not a "monster hit" either since it begin with low ratings and improved as the show went on.
ReplyDeleteWhy do people think it's terrible? I mean I like it, but I don't love it. So I know that it has issues but I'm wondering what makes it terrible?
ReplyDeleteThe biggest complaint is the acting: except for Dean Norris, they're pretty much all terrible, especially the kids. The dialogue is also often ridiculous: my personal favourite was Junior saying that "the Chief was eating mashed potatoes with God now". The story is also complete non-sense and the characters are often way too stupid and gullible.
ReplyDeleteActually the two biggest problems were that the some of the actors did not have a character to play due to the writing and lack of character development. Dean Norris, Britt Robertson and the guy that played Barbie were all pretty good IMO. Some of the other actors would probably be mediocre at best even if they had an actual character to play but it is difficult to play a fully formed character when the writing is not there.
ReplyDeleteSecond problem was only the teenage kids really behaved like they knew they were trapped in the dome. Most of the other characters spent time doing stupid crap like the Fight Club episode. I am not saying that all of the characters had to be involved in figuring out a way out of the dome but most of the characters did not behave in a way that most real life people would probably behave.
The problem here is that you assume that your preferences are the good ones, so if you don't like something, that means that this is shit, and there, is where you guys are wrong.
ReplyDeletelol!!, the funny thing is that these guys think somehow, that we're stupid and that they can come and tell whatever they want and we will blindly believe it.
ReplyDeleteThat's subjective, I mean, we all have different tastes and opinions, what is good for someone, could be a real shit for some other, the point is why some people can't be tolerant and respectful, I like this show, I know it's not the best thing ever but nothing is, not even Disneyland is the best place on earth for everybody, but nobody can say that's a terrible place and that nobody should visit it. Same here, who do these people think they are to come to tell us that this is shit??, why bother?? FOR GOD'S SAKE!!, there are shows on TV that I find hateful, but I just change the channel, I don't come to these sites to convince people that what they like is not good, that's just sick.
ReplyDeletethe storyline is the main problem,it became absolutely non-season towards the end! That's my personal opinion though, can't say about others!
ReplyDeleteI do hope you realize you're making an assumption about what you assume we were thinking at the time. From my point of view, no I wasn't thinking that way. It's called an opinion.
ReplyDeleteI always say this, I don't know if I'm right or not, but everytime you will express a personal opinion you should say something like "for my taste", you know, why??, because otherwise you're affirming that in fact it is, and people will take it in that way, and the truth is that as everything else (except exact sciences) all is subjective.
