    Spoiler Alert! The Dome becomes magnetic in the season premiere, so yes, it's a magnetic field.

    Actually, there has been released a promo not posted by SpoilerTV that reveals that the Dome turns magnetic. In addition, I believe TVLine and TV Guide have also revealed that in their Q&A sessions at some point :)
