True Blood - Jesus Gonna Be Here - Preview
9 Jun 2014
Reviews True BloodTrue Blood is back for it's seventh and final season and they're taking no prisoners. Last time we left our friends in Bon Temps, a deadly group of Hepatits V infected vampires were descending upon a mixer at Bellefleur's Bar, formerly Merlotte's. The opening scenes will leave viewers speechless as one of Bon Temp's long-time residents is taken down in the fight. The past couple seasons have mostly taken the action out of the town of Bon Temps. Well this season is here to bring it back to the beginning, having most of the action based in Sookie's hometown and focusing on the core characters.
The premiere episode is full of fast paced action and jaw dropping moments, in typical True Blood style. Also during the melee at the mixer, several of characters are swiftly kidnapped by the infected creatures. We're also introduced to several members of a vigilante group who is entirely against vampires, infected or not, as well as any humans who associate with them. Much of the premiere is focused on Sookie and Alcide, Bill and Andy, Jason and Violet and Jessica trying to find or protect their friends and loved ones. Another character who is looking for something she's lost is Pam. She is trying by any and all means necessary to find where her maker has disappeared to, and nothing will stop or distract her from finding him.
The first episode of the season sets up the final season as dark and deadly. Everyone is at risk of losing their lives and the entire town points their fingers at Sookie. Who will survive and who won't? Only time will tell!
"Jesus Gonna Be Here" premieres on Sunday June 22nd at 9 PM ET on HBO.
Feel free to sound off in the comments! Let us know what you're hoping for or most excited about from the final season!
Please tell me we at least see a little of Eric? Pretty please.
ReplyDeleteit's probably gonna be one of the deputies or Rosie- big deal. this show should have ended after season 4, when Ball screwed up the shower scene from the books.
ReplyDeleteWhat scene? What did they do to screw it up?
ReplyDeletePretty sure rez talking about the Sookie/Amnesia-Eric stuff.
ReplyDeleteMaxine or Jane Bodehouse.
ReplyDeleteyeah, it's gonna be an expendable character. just like the big build up to the death last season being Terry...another expendable character.
ReplyDeleteI think it has more to do with Anna Paquin's contract ending among others and her not renewing it then HBO deciding to end the series.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for the review!
ReplyDeleteI got to ask. Are there any hints at all of Jessica and Jason possibly getting back together? I've always loved them. And this being the last season of the show, I was hoping to see them reuniting. I don't want to see Jason end the show with that other new woman. I love Jason and Jessica together too much.
Thanks!
I think it's kinda obvious it's going to be Tara who will die. Among the really important characters, she's the only who barely appears on the promo.
ReplyDeleteSorry to disappoint you pbt, no Eric in the premiere :(
ReplyDeleteJason and Jessica don't share any scenes in the premiere episode, but I'm hoping they'll get back together too ;)
ReplyDeleteyeah, after more thought and watching the trailers, makes sense if it is a regular.
ReplyDeleteIt might also be because her and Stephen Moyer (along with another couple I can't remember) are bringing their production company to HBO and they have several projects in the works...
ReplyDeleteI don't think so, because I was under the impression that they were going to explore her character a little more including some flashbacks...so I would think that there would be a few episodes to build to that, especially since she's been so uniquely written in contrast Sookie...
ReplyDeleteProbably an expendable character, but it would be a real tear jerker if it was Arlene, Tara, or Lafayette.
ReplyDeleteRewatching the previous seasons currently! looking forward to season 7 and it's seemingly dark tone! Thanks for the preview Kelly! Just a couple more weeks to go! :)
My predictions for this new season so far are that Tara is going to die, and that Lafayette is going to be turned. Anything else I have no idea, but going by the trailors I also think that Alcide might also die.
ReplyDeleteHa! I'm half way through season 3 myself! XD
ReplyDeleteThey're taking prisoners? I thought they were meant to be rabid...
ReplyDeleteI don't think Arlene will die so soon after Terry. I do think it will be somebody human though
ReplyDeleteHer name's Violet. I didn't like her either. I don't like the way she treated him in the finale.
ReplyDeleteIn truth it is because Skarsgard's contract ended last season and they had to twist his arm to get him to re-sign for S7.
ReplyDeleteNo Eric means you can kiss goodbye to a large part of your audience.
Word on the street is that HBO, well aware of the Viking's popularity, pulled the plug due to Buckner's insistence on some idiotic triangle with Alcide/Sookie/Bill.
That AP/SM production deal with HBO is 'first look'. No guarantees given but good luck to them as post TB they will need it.
That's what I was thinking too. It won't be one of the main characters but it will be someone we have seen throughout the entire series.
ReplyDeleteOh, but sometimes the worst characters turn out to be really neat characters before they go! I mean obviously this is a theme for Jason to be raped and dominated by others because of his previous own egotistical and often thoughtless ways, but also it creates an interesting juxtaposition with Tara and Franklin from the third season also. I would like to give Violet the benefit of the doubt before I just label her a dominatrix, since I feel like I don't really know anything much about her...
ReplyDeleteGood point!! Kind of an interesting development that they're not necessarily as mindless as we might of thought! It will be harder then to justify just killing them...
ReplyDelete"Word on the street". LMAO!
ReplyDeleteThe problem is that Violet already treats Jason like her "property." I hate that. She acts like she "owns" him. I want Jason back with Jessica.
ReplyDeleteI don't deny that, but it doesn't mean that she doesn't have a reason or is irredeemable (even though most likely she won't be).
ReplyDeleteI want Jason and Jessica to be generally happy, either with or without each other. I actually wish Tara and Jason would come to terms, even though it appears that ship has sailed.
I too would like to see where this goes.... even though it seems a one-sided relationship, she also is completely devoted. "He will Never be alone." She's been around for "over 600 years" - is it possible she's found her mate?
ReplyDeleteYeah its like 100% her, she is barely in it, and the outlines for episode 2 has Tara's mother channeling her family past, and no Tara mentioned. Plus why give flashbacks to Young Tara and Sookie in the first episode. They really didn't hide it too well lol
ReplyDeleteI'm not too pleased, because they gave Tara no material in season 6, they think her and her mother making up means her story is complete.
Any chance Lafayette will be visited by her ghost?
It actually is a major death since Tara is the only character apart from Sookie, Bill, Sam, Jason and Lafayette to appear in every episode to date. So I guess thats what they mean by major major death.
I didn't know if it was a major death or not or "when" the flashbacks are (what episode(s)). I have been reading synopsis/press releases and spoilers earlier in the year, but have been trying to say away from more recant major spoilers.
ReplyDeleteYou make a good point though about Tara's mom trying to channel potentially Tara, but I'm still hoping that maybe she's channeling/trying to connect to someone else (I think it's evident that their family has a history of power-magic-witches-demons) or that maybe they think Tara is dead, but she really isn't and no spirit appears and/or maybe they have the capacity to resurrect here?
I just wanted her to have a meaningful death, if she has to die, and/or play a bigger role in relation to Sookie's and Jason's story line(s)...but I guess time will tell.
Same here, I hope it isn't Tara at all but other family members. Infact I do recall hearing that we will learn about Tara's father, but how strange to promote Lette Mae to regular and to then kill off Tara. I hope so aswell that if they do her ghost doesn't show up or they resurrect her wishful thinking, anything would be awesome, since I really feel Tara dying would really be the worst, out of all the main characters, killing her really is so tragic after her entire series story and all she went through.
ReplyDeleteHow odd will it be to watch episode 2 and not see Tara, since we never went a single episode without seeing her. To me the true main characters are Sookie, Bill, Sam, Jason and then Tara. The billing order in the credits has it in this order, and then everyone else is listed alphabetically. So those five are the central players, I guess Eric is sixth aswell but not until season 2.
You bring up a good point about the synopsis for episode 3 onwards not mentioning characters. But I'm prepared for the worst. We shall see.
I agree with you on that, with the build-up, and there was no build-up, unless they think it was with where we ended last season with Tara and Lette Mae. But Tara has barely interacted with Sookie, Jason or Lafayette for 2 seasons, and we barely got any closure with them dealing with her as a vampire and more scenes. So if they kill Tara, then I'm certain her ghost will appear. I hope her death has meaning as well.
