The SpoilerTV 2014 Episode Competition - Nominations Now Closed
14 Jun 2014
2014 Episode Competition BAUpdate 2: The nominations are now closed. Check back on Monday for the opening day of the competition!
Update: Just to ensure it's clear, only episodes that aired between 1st June 2013 and 31st May 2014 will be counted. Episodes like Game of Thrones' 'The Mountain and the Viper' that have aired since the nomination period has been open won't be counted. Happy voting :)
Every episode of television is special. Each one contains elements that make it stand out from the crowd. And now, SpoilerTV is giving you the opportunity to select your favourite episodes of TV from the past 12 months, and battle against others to don the crown of Spoiler TV's favourite episode.
After some behind the scenes delegation, I will now be running this competition around this time each year, instead of at the end of the year.
Any episode that aired from 1st June 2013 to 31st May 2014 can be submitted. Episodes that did not air in this period will not be included. Please do not try to submit episodes that did not air in this period - doing so will make my job so much harder!
The top 64 episodes will enter the competition. However, if a particular show has more than two episodes in that top 64, only the two most voted for episodes will make it into the competition - thus giving other shows a better chance.
Only 1 Submission per person. If you try to submit multiple times ALL your submissions will be removed.
You have until Saturday 14th June to enter your submissions.
The competition will begin on Monday 16th June. Check back then for the first round of matches!
Enter your submissions, spread the word and tell us what you voted for in the comments!

I picked
ReplyDeleteHannibal 2x13 Mizumono- I'm still reeling from that finale and I feel that it was the episode that stood out the most in an amazing season of television.
Arrow 2x22 Streets of Fire- I had to choose between this, Broken Dolls, and The Scientist, but this one ended up winning out. I thought it was the best part of the three-part finale.
Community 5x04 Cooperative Polygraphy- I thought this episode hit all the marks as far as both comedy and emotions go. Walter Goggins maybe the best guest star the show had in all five years, and it was a great episode to put Pierce to bed. Runner-up would've been Bondage and Beta Male Sexuality
The Musketeers - Musketeers Don't Die Easily (Best finale this year for me)
ReplyDeleteDoctor Who - The Day of the Doctor (50th Anniversary Special)
Game of Thrones - The Rains of Castamere (Just makes the deadline by 2 days!)
The Mentalist: Blue Bird, My blue Heaven and Red John :)
ReplyDeleteTeen Wolf - Motel California (even though I could easily pick another 3 from this show alone)
ReplyDeleteDoctor Who - The Day of The Doctor
Person Of Interest - The Devil's Share
I would add so many others if I could.
The Americans (Echo), Fargo (Premiere Episode), Hannibal (Mizumono) for me. Bates Motel Finale, and a couple of Person of Interest Episodes came close as did The Walking Dead and Banshee Finales
ReplyDeleteIt was practically impossible to choose only three episodes from a year of brilliant TV but eventually i picked:
ReplyDeleteBreaking Bad - Ozymandias
Person of Interest - The Devil's Share
True Detective - Who Goes There
The Banshee finale was soooo close for me too, but the real Red Wedding just made it instead of the Banshee version, lol
ReplyDeleteCan the episodes be from the same show or do they need to be from 3 different ones?
ReplyDeleteI went with season finales, Person of Interest (Deus ex Machina), Arrow (Unthinkable) and Sleepy Hollow (The Indispensable Man).
ReplyDeleteCan be all from the same show if you like :)
ReplyDeleteI thought so; just double-checking. Thanks. :)
ReplyDeleteHannibal (Mizumono) , Game Of Thrones (The Laws Of Gods And Men) , Person Of Interest (A House Divided).
ReplyDeleteArrow (Streets Of Fire) , The Walking Dead (Too Far Gone) , Person of Interest (The Devil's Share) and Fargo (The Crocodile's Dilemma) could have easily made my top three as well.
The three I chose were Community - Goethermal Escapism (Troy leaves), Sleepy Hollow - Bad Blood (finale), and Teen Wolf - MOtel California (Best episode of a great, great season).
ReplyDeleteHonorable mentions (in no particular order) - Enlisted - Vets, The Musketeers - Sleight of Hand, The Blacklist - Madeline Pratt, Star-Crossed - Our Toil Shall Strive to Mend, The Goldbergs - Goldbergs Never Say DIe and Age of Darkness, SHIELD - Turn, Turn, Turn, The 100 - Twilight's Last Gleaming, Surviving Jack - Parents Just Don't Understand, and Teen Wolf - Anchors.
Very hard indeed! I went with Sleepy Hollow: Bad Blood, Game of Thrones: The Rains of Castamere, and Orphan Black: Endless Forms Most Beautiful. I would of picked Les Revenants: Camile, but even though it broadcast in the States in October last year, it broadcast in Europe in 2012.
ReplyDeleteRunners up would be:
True Dectective: Who Goes There & Form and Void
The Walking Dead: Too Far Gone & A
Person of Interest: Deus ex Machina
Hannibal: Mizumono
Recify: Drip Drip & Jacob's Ladder
The Americans: The Deal & Echo
Penny Dreadful: Seance
Agents of SHIELD: Turn Turn Turn & Beginning of the End
Arrow: Unthinkable
Vikings: The Lord's Prayer
Doctor Who: The Day of the Doctor
Just picking 3 was so hard, I could have picked 30.
ReplyDeletePicked: True Detective: Who Goes There, Breaking Bad: Ozymandias and The Good Wife: Hitting The Fan
Close runner ups: The Americans (Echo), AoS (Turn, Turn, Turn), Enlisted (Vets), Parks and Rec (Moving up), Doctor Who (Day of the Doctor), Sleepy Hollow (Bad Blood), GOT (The Rains of Castamere), Orphan Black (Governed As If By Chance), so many I can't remember right now
I went with
ReplyDeleteSherlock - The Empty Hearse (I just loved how they dealt with the cliffhanger from the previous season)
Hannibal - Mizumono (Don't think I need to say much, one of the best finales in recent history)
Teen Wolf - Anchors (When you can feel the desperation of not being able to tell reallity from dream you know that's a well done episode, love thath season and specially that story arch)
Honorable mention:
American Horror Story: Coven - Burn, Witch, Burn! (Later it might have been a dissapointing season but you can't deny the zombie massacre was awesome)
Agree with Teen Wolf, I went with Anchors cause I LOVED the not being able to tell whether they were awake or asleep, it was amazingly done.
ReplyDeleteI Picked
ReplyDeleteBreaking Bad - Ozymandias ; Orange is the new Black - Pilot ; The Good Wife - Hitting the Fan
I picked
ReplyDeleteThe Returned (season finale the Horde)
Game of Thrones (The Lion and the Rose)
Revenge (season finale Execution)
Some episodes from Orphan Black, Vikings, House of Cards and Avatar Korra came really close.
I went with ;
ReplyDeleteMad Men - Waterloo,
Breaking Bad - Ozymandias,
Sons of Anarchy - A Mothers Work
I'm gonna be fair and not submit any episodes, though I would have chosen:
ReplyDeletePerson of Interest: The Devil's Share
Arrow: Three Ghosts
The Walking Dead: Too Far Gone
My picks:
ReplyDeleteHannibal - Mizumono
True Detective - The Secret Fate of All Life
Teen Wolf - Riddled
Honorable Mentions (in no order):
Orange Is the New Black - Tit Punch
Louie - Model/Elevator Part 4
Orphan Black - Governed As It Were By Chance
Penny Dreadful - Seance
Veep - Alicia
Breaking Bad - Ozymandias
The Walking Dead - Too Far Gone/A
Fargo - The Crocodile's Dilemma/Buridan's Ass
Person of Interest - The Crossing
A Lot of amazing episodes, it was hard to choose.
ReplyDeleteBut i went witho those that probably wont get many votes, but they were great. Originals - Ep 22, Reign - Ep 07, The 100 - Ep 05
Breaking Bad - Ozymandias - Best episode ever made
ReplyDeleteThe Good Wife - Hitting the fan - An episode that changed the whole story of the series
True detective - Who goes there - Just epic
Breaking Bad - Ozymandias
ReplyDeleteMad Men - Waterloo
I picked :
ReplyDeletebreaking Bad : Ozymandias
Person Of Interest : deus ex Machna
Shameless (US) : Emily
I can't vote because i have only one submission!
ReplyDeleteIt's not fair: I rarely watch show live, inf fact i mostly catch up few months sometimes few years after. However i don't see why it should be here a sanction.
Psych "The Break Up". I laughed, I cried, and I laughed again, and cried a little... a perfect ending for a beloved show. I miss them!
ReplyDeleteContinuum "Waning Minute". So smart.
Game of Thrones "The Rains of Castamere". Almost a year ago and I'm still in shock!
You can nominate only one episode if you wish, just put N/A in the other boxes :)
ReplyDeleteAs Sandi said, just put N/A in the box. The idea is to get as many episodes nominated as possible, hence why all three are mandatory.
ReplyDeleteShocked nobody mentioned #Bones finale, absolutely the best Tv episode of the year
ReplyDeleteThe Good Wife - Hitting the Fan
ReplyDeleteHannibal - Mizumono
Mad Men - The Strategy (I know all of the other episodes I'd include will be voted on so I had to include this one myself)
These are insanely difficult for me because I never feel like I'm remembering EVERYTHING I've watched in the last season to not forget something. So I went with the first episodes that came to mind as leaving me reeling and talking about them after watching them.
ReplyDeletePerson of Interest: The Devil's Share...The directing and performances in the opening sequence blew me away.
Teen Wolf: Riddled...In the series bet set of 12 to date (I'm having trouble believing they'll be able to beat it) This episode had me on the edge of my seat the first second.
Person of Interest:...in my head this ep and the one after are merged together but I loved seeing the Wrath of Carter. A worthy exit for the character. I'm a sucker for a woman who can kick ass and take names.
Great list! For a little show that seems astonishingly overlooked, it has a huge percentage of terrific episode compared to most everything on the air.
ReplyDeleteI didn't read the rules before nominating. If I had I would have had a more difficult time selecting an ep of Teen Wolf to nominate. I do seem to be in a minority about Sleepy Hollow. The finale, for me, was too predictable. Several people have suggested strongly that I watch The Blacklist.
ReplyDeleteThat's definitely one of the 3 I picked. :)
ReplyDeleteThe Strategy was without-a-doubt one of the best episodes of the year, I actually voted for that but mistakenly put "Waterloo" as my Mad Men choice in the comments.
ReplyDeleteCastle - Veritas
ReplyDeleteTrue Detective - Form and Void
Game of Thrones - The Lion and the Rose
Gah,decisions, decisions! It really was a difficult trying to decide... I went with
ReplyDeleteGame Of Thrones - The Rains of Castamere!
Person Of Interest - Believe it or not I don't remember if i wrote The Crossing or Deus Ex Machina. :P
Sleepy Hollow - Bad Blood
If we had more choices - Well, either The Crossing or Deus Ex Machina, whichever i didn't pick above :P
The Blacklist - Anslo Garrick part 1 & 2.
The Blacklist - Madeline Pratt
Game Of Thrones - The Lion and The Rose
Fargo - The Crocodile Dilemma. Love, loved, loved this episode don't ya know!
You went for The Crossing.
ReplyDeleteThank you for bringing GoT to my attention! I didn't even stop to think when The Rains of Castamere aired,i only thought of it taking place last season.
ReplyDeleteLoL,thanks Bradley!
ReplyDeleteI had to check myself just to make sure, lol.
ReplyDeleteDamn, I hadn't realised that it was that close to missing the deadline. I just knew it airedd in June sometime last year. Imagine if that had been the top nominated episode and it had aired outside the deadline...
ReplyDeleteHa, yeah, that would have been an issue XD
ReplyDeleteI picked Castle - Veritas and In the belly of the beast;
ReplyDeleteRevenge - Execution (altough I wrote Truth in the submission, don´t know why, lol).
The Mentalist Fire and Brimstone
ReplyDeleteThe Mentalist. Blue Bird. It was perfect.
ReplyDeleteArrow (Streets Of Fire) , The Walking Dead (Too Far Gone) , Person of Interest (The Devil's Share) and Fargo (The Crocodile's Dilemma) could have easily made my top three as well.
ReplyDeleteI think it was supposed to to be one episode per show.
ReplyDeleteNope, you can pick any episodes you like from one, two or three shows :)
ReplyDeleteAlright. :)
ReplyDeleteSo hard to pick just three to nominate - voting is going to be especially hard but I finally decided on:
ReplyDeleteTurn, Turn, Turn (AoS)
Bad Blood (Sleepy Hollow)
Twilight's Last Gleaming (The 100)
I picked Ozymandias from Breaking Bad, Mizumono from Hannibal and Flesh and Blood from Scandal. Hopefully at least the first two will be on the top 64!
ReplyDeleteThank you both!
ReplyDeleteI struggled with the decision between the two, but ultimately nominated Waterloo.
ReplyDeleteIt wasn't easy since there were so many great episodes this season, but my choices were:
ReplyDeleteRevenge- Execution
Game of Thrones- The Mountain and The Viper
The 100- Twilight's Last Gleaming
I almost added American Horror Story - Burn Witch Burn, in my honorable mentions. But i decided to stop at 20 total episodes. I'd nominate all 64, if i could. ; ) There was a lot of good television, in the last year.
ReplyDeletePerson of Interest: Beta and The Devil's Share
ReplyDeletePsych: The Break-Up
(I also really wanted to nominate Person of Interest: Lethe, but I had to go with the Psych finale. My sentimentality got the better of me. :-) )
Unfortunately you cannot have that GoT ep since it aired last night, which is outside the designated time period for the competition.
ReplyDeleteCastle - Veritas
ReplyDeletePerson of Interest - The Crossing, Deus Ex Machina
Totally agree! Picking so few is really difficult. TV shows get better by the season, and so many amazing new ones come along, there's not enough time in the world to fit in everything worth watching.
ReplyDeleteAw man, I forgot about Sherlock! The Empty Hearse was hilarious!
ReplyDeletedamn it! I thought it could be nominated xD
ReplyDeleteWow this was hard. I knew I wanted to nominate Game of Thrones, Arrow, and Person of Interest, but even choosing episodes was difficult. I went with:
ReplyDeleteGame of Thrones - Rains of Castamere (3x9)
Arrow - Deathstroke (2x18)
Person of Interest - Root Path (3x17)
Other choices would have been:
The Good Wife - Hitting the Fan (5x5)
Elementary - The Diabolical Kind (2x12)
Once Upon a Time - Going Home (3x11)
Nikita - Cancelled (4x6)
Trophy Wife - Twas the Night Before Christmas... Or Twas It? (1x10)
Parks and Recreation - Flu Season 2 (6x19)
The Americans - Echo (2x13)
Orange Is the New Black - Lesbian Request Denied (1x3)
Broadchurch - Season One, Episode One (1x1)
It's easy to forget what came out so early in the year, I always read the comments in case they remind me of something but in truth there's no way to fit in three nominations all the amazing things we've been getting.
ReplyDeleteShameless - Emily
ReplyDeleteNikita - Cancelled
The 100 - Twilight's Last Gleaming
Leave a comment here with what you want to change it to, rather than submitting again. I may forget and remove both submissions if not lol
ReplyDeleteBreaking Bad - Ozymandias
ReplyDeletePenny Dreadful - Seance
Modern Family - The Late Show
No...they said you can choose different episodes from one show too :)
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome :)
ReplyDeleteIn that case:
ReplyDeleteIn exchange for GoT's episode I choose Sleepy Hollow's "Bad Blood"
It wasn't easy to decide among Scandal, Parks and Sleepy Hollow's finale, but in the end I think I'll give the edge to Sleepy Hollow.
By the way, thanks for the help! :)
Lol yeah I just heard. :)
ReplyDeleteI picked Chicago Fire - Real Never Waits
ReplyDeleteDallas- Where There's Smoke and Teen Wolf - Lunar Eclipse
Does Sherlock (BBC/PBS) count as a show or a movie?
ReplyDeleteCounts as a show.
ReplyDeleteI will say:
ReplyDeletePerson Of Interest 3x23 Deus ex Machina
Bones 9x24 The Recluse in the recliner
and last but not least
Warehouse 13 5x06 Endless Wonder
THE MENTALIST- 'Blue Bird'
ReplyDeleteTHE BLACKLIST-'Pilot'
THE GOOD WIFE-'The Decision Tree'
Really there were some show that had phenomenal seasons this season, it was so hard to pick. THE GOOD WIFE was fabulous till the episode they killed off Will and the finale was a great game changer. And I see a lot of people picked 'Hitting the Fan' which was fantastic. I would've liked to have picked an episode of PERSON OF INTEREST but as I said there were a lot of good shows this season. It was superb from beginning to end. I actually felt the finale was an interesting game changer but I would've picked a different episode, like 'The Crossing' for instance. Someone also picked 'Anslo Garrick' for THE BLACKLIST which, I'm almost bummed I didn't pick-it was as good as the pilot.
I voted for :
ReplyDeleteArrow - Time of Death
Game of Thrones - The Rains of Castamere
The Originals - From a Cradle to a Grave
I picked The Mentalist, Blue Bird, My Blue Heaven and Red John!
ReplyDeleteI haven't seen a lot of shows this year, but I went with Grimm episodes "The Ungrateful Dead" and "The Law Of Sacrifice" and also threw a NCIS Los Angeles Episode (Reznikov, N.) into the mix.
ReplyDeleteCastle - Veritas has been very gripping, though and I liked a lot of Arrow episodes. Pity that one has to choose.
Wow, yes! Red John was great but we knew what was going to happen we just didn't know how but Fire and Brimstone had some twists and turns and was better written.
ReplyDeleteI voted for:
ReplyDeletePerson of Interest - The Crossing - 3x09 air date: 11/19/13 (intense and amazing beginning to end)
Game of Thrones - The Rains of Castamere - 3x09 air date: 6/2/13 (Red Wedding!)
How I Met Your Mother - Last Forever - 9x23-24 air date: 3/31/14 (yeah, you read that right)
We've only had two other votes for the HIMYM finale.
ReplyDeleteI'm not surprised but I don't mind being a dissenting voice. I only wish I had read through some of these submissions before voting. It seems like everyone is voting for GoT 3.09 so I should have submitted something else.
ReplyDeleteYes, perhaps. Though you did make an interesting choice with your POI selection. Not sure which of The Crossing, Devil's Share or Deus Ex Machina are gonna be the two POIs that make it through (since I think at least two will be in the top 64).
ReplyDeletePicking just one episode in the POI HR trilogy was difficult but The Crossing was my personal favorite. I'm guessing most people are voting for The Devil's Share.
ReplyDeleteEndgame, while one of the best the show has done, wouldn't have even come into consideration for me. Not compared to the two episodes that followed. After that, it's difficult to pick between the two. The only possible thing that I can fathom right now as to why I would pick The Devil's Share over The Crossing is the fact that I had Carter's death spoiled for me. That meant that when I watched it, it felt like I was watching it a second time when reacting to the varying emotions (suddenly the Carter/Reese kiss and the call back to the pilot become far more emotional) and the fact that I knew that the other characters would make it out.
ReplyDeleteBut beyond that, they're almost impossible to pick between. They were both astounding. Best episodes of television I've seen.
Banshee - Bullets and tears
ReplyDeleteMasters of Sex - Pilot
Game of Thrones - Mockingbird (it seemed like the rest of you had the other good episodes covered)
I would have liked to nominate episodes from True Detective, Vikings, Justified and Breaking Bad aswell.
Wow, I didn't even think of Nikita! It's been so long ago that the final season aired but I still miss it. And Canceled was definitely a great episode!
ReplyDeleteUntil I saw it submitted, I had too. To be fair, I could have chosen any of those final 6.
ReplyDeleteI need to rewatch them soon. But yeah, they were all great though I would have probably chosen 4, 5 or 6.
ReplyDeleteI have not submitted already but my six nominees will be
ReplyDeleteBreaking Bad - Ozymandias (tough decision, but it beat Felina)
The Good Wife - The Decision Tree (honorable mentions for Dramedies, Your Honor and Hitting The Fan)
True Detective - Who Goes There
Hannibal - Mizumono
The Americans - ARPANET
Masters of Sex - Brave New World
Mad Men - Waterloo (thanks to the nomination window, this episode got in despite airing just one week ago).
You know you can only have 3 nominees, right?
ReplyDeleteThe Law of Sacrifice. Good choice!
ReplyDeleteit was so hard to pick but mine were
ReplyDeleteRevenge - Execution (best finale of the season)
Scandal - The Price of a Free and Fair Election (another epic finale)
and there were so many more epic finales just couldn't put anymore
my third one had to be
2 Broke Girls - And the Girlfriend Experience ( I die laughing everytime I watch it, best episode ever for 2BG)
Revenge - "Execution" and "Impetus"
ReplyDeleteAgents of SHIELD - "Turn Turn Turn"
Breaking Bad - Ozymandias
ReplyDeletePerson of Interest - Deus Ex Machina and The Crossing
Sherlock - His Last Vow
ReplyDeletePerson of Interest - The Crossing
Arrow - Unthinkable
The Blackist - Anslo Garrick
ReplyDeletePerson of Interest - The Devil's Share
True Detective - Who Goes There
Game of Thrones - Rains of Castamere
ReplyDeleteTrue Detective - Who Goes There
Hannibal - Yakimono
The walking dead - The grove
ReplyDeleteThe good wife - Hitting the fan
Shameless US - There's the rub
Hannibal - Mizumono
ReplyDeleteTeen Wolf - Motel California
Game of Thrones - The Rains of Castamere
My three pics were:
ReplyDeleteBreaking Bad - Ozymandias - Probably the best episode of television ever made.
Hannibal - Mizumono - I could have gone with a number of Hannibal episodes from season 2 but I think those last 20 minutes of the finale made my mind up...
Sherlock - His Last Vow - Series 3 was not as good as series 1 or 2 but Sherlock is still the best thing on British TV and this was the best episode. Made great by the presence of Lars Mikkelsen. (Talented family!)
Great picks.
ReplyDeleteThe Americans - Martial Eagle
ReplyDeleteGame of Thrones - The Lion and The Rose
Doctor Who - The Day of The Doctor
Hannibal - Mizumono
ReplyDeleteGame of Thrones - The Lion and the Rose
Person of Interest - The Most Likely To...
