Colin Salmon (Die Another Day, Resident Evil) and Antonia Thomas (Misfits, The Deep) have been confirmed to guest star in the second series of The Musketeers on BBC One.
Colin will play Tariq, a mysterious interloper on the run from Spain, and Antonia will play his daughter Samara, a gutsy and resilient young woman whose life is put in danger when her father is exiled.
Executive producers, Adrian Hodges and Jessica Pope, said: “We're excited to welcome an actor of Colin's reputation to The Musketeers. He will bring wonderful charisma and sense of mystery to the role.
"We've also been aware for some time of Antonia's wonderful work in films and TV series such as Sunshine On Leith and Misfits, among numerous others. She brings such intelligence and vibrancy to every role she plays and we are thrilled to have her as Samara.”
This episode is written by Lucy Catherine and Adrian Hodges and directed by Mark Jobst.
Marc Warren has already been announced as joining the cast of the second series, which is currently filming in Prague.
The Musketeers was commissioned by Charlotte Moore, Controller of BBC One, and Ben Stephenson, Controller of BBC Drama Commissioning.

Dammit!
ReplyDeleteThese were two actors I was hoping would get cast in Game of Thrones! Salmon for Areo Hotah and Thomas for one of the Sand Snakes... Maybe Nymeria.
That mini-rant aside...
I like both actors and think they both should add a lot to the series!
I don't watch that show but I will surely watch the ep with him in it
ReplyDeleteAlso, Adrian promised a follow-up to his very interesting pre-season 1 podcast interview for Geek Syndicate and, true to his word:http://geeksyndicate.co.uk/tv-2/tv-news/the-musketeers-series-2-a-deeper-and-darker-vibe-promises-adrian-hodges/
ReplyDeleteTheir filming was finished a while ago, we've been talking about it in the filming thread post we have here for the last few weeks since Colin announced his casting last month, so both are still free to take up any projects ;) This is just some photos and some more details on the characters they play from the BBC that has come out today.
ReplyDeleteOh nice one, cheers deeannjay!
ReplyDeleteWell, he did promise didn't he? Good lad!
ReplyDeleteYeah, glad to see he's true to his word. I'll download this on Sunday when I have some free time and have a listen. Then I'll wait for the pre-S2 one to come out in the new year ;) lol
ReplyDeleteAhh ok.
ReplyDeleteNot that either were sure ins to be cast or even audition for Thrones, but hope survives I guess! XD
Looks like the Digital Spy interviewer is looking for questions to put to Adrian, if you have any.
ReplyDeleteI know how you feel, I would love to see both on it too. I'm also totally split on Luke Newberry from In the Flesh, on one hand he would be absolutely perfect for young Griff, but on the other there has to be a season 3.... Decisions huh! XD
ReplyDeleteAhh, so not an audio interview this time round, sorry I misunderstood, I was a bit rushed when I was last online, lol.
ReplyDeleteI like the idea of a running arc throughout the season, with Rochefort being introduced I did wonder if he might impact the show in that way somehow. The darker tone sounds perfect too, and will hopefully keep a post watershed audience more interested than than they were in season 1. I've left a couple of questions about Louis on the link, hopefully one will get asked, thanks again for the heads up :)
My pleasure, Sandi! I think it's great that Adrian is so willing to let the show's fans in on some of his ideas for Season 2 (without giving too much away of course!). I loved the Season 1 interview, which I will forever think of as the "Knackered Feather" podcast.
ReplyDeleteNow very much looking forward to Aramis', Porthos and D'Artagnan's World Cup videos!
Yes, he and Jessica Pope have been fantastic with the information and photos that have been released so far, I can't think of any other show that gives away so much to the fans willingly each and every week during filming. We are very, very lucky indeed :) Yes, the 'Knackered Feather' podcast is a fav, it's still on my desktop. Just haven't had the heart to move/delete the link as I know I shall want to listen to it again before S2 starts, lol.
ReplyDeleteI've just put the Athos WC video in the filming thread, genius idea from the set! - http://www.spoilertv.com/2014/04/the-musketeers-season-2-filming-updates.html
Yeah Luke's eyes are so interesting - even without the zombie contacts!
ReplyDeleteHe would be an intriguing Young Griff....
I had been thinking of Matthew Beard, but I like the idea of Newberry even more I think!
Tom Payne is another actor with super cool eyes that many hoped would be Viserys back in the day. He still looks young enough to be YG I think...
Also that young blonde prince on Vikings.
I forget the character's name but the actor's name is Edvin Endre. When I watched VIkings I kept thinking he could be fun as well.
So much fun to mentally cast actors in roles on GoT :) Never saw Pedro Pascal coming though, he was totally out of left field for me but owned that role! They do know what they are doing, that's for sure.
ReplyDeleteYes it is!
ReplyDeleteI never expected another "American" actor to be cast on Thrones honestly, so Pedro was a huge surprise!
Soon as they cast him though I thought he would do well since I had been enjoying him on Graceland and his role on the Sam Axe Burn Notice movie. Even so, I never imagine he would be as awesome as he was! He went beyond any of my wildest expectations for the role.
Barry from GS emailed me today an let me know that the interview with Adrian has been done this afternoon. It should hopefully be up by the end of the week, once it is I will do a post here too with a link to it so we can discuss it too. He's a lovely chap, seemed a bit taken back that we all enjoyed the first interview so much. Personally I can't wait to see what little gems come up in this second one!
ReplyDeleteThey are all certainly pushing it on twitter, I'm hoping that it does well over there. I think Luke and Tamla are in Edinburgh atm for the festival soon, not sure where any of the others are at present though.
ReplyDeleteCheers for that link, going to take it over to the filming thread, I think some of the others will be interested in reading that too :D
