I like both characters individually, but together it's not "clicking" for me yet. I'm not worried about it yet since all we've seen are these little clips, but if they want this relationship to progress please get her in on the secret soon or at least this season.
There was just something about the scene where she asks him to pee in a cup that I found hilarious. I don't ship them yet since I haven't seen there scenes but I enjoyed that one scene more than anything I've seen of iris and Barry.
I wouldn't say anyone actually ships them, the show hasn't even started yet! but I do have a preference for them, and I just can't seem to get into Iris, she just seems your typical firl next door/mary sue. Truth is, I would so go for Felicty/Barry if there was even a remote chance of that happening, but we all know it never will, so if I had to choose I'd go for Caitlin. We'll see what happens once the show premieres, maybe I'll be pleasently surprised by Iris, and I'll be completely into her and Barry. Or maybe, just like in Arrow, I won't ship anybody, romantically at least.
Unfortunately, I don't think Iris will be part of the secret any time soon (too many people know already) and I don't think it'll do any good for her character.
I side-eye people who do already ship them, but I can understand why people would go for that dynamic-
1) Caitlin is in on the secret, which already means she'll be part of a more interesting storyline than Iris (and they're doing the latter no favors by her almost not being in the promo at all and here being promoted as a love interest, instead of promoting her as a character).
2) Some people hate being told by a show who to ship, so they go for the non-OTP ship.
3) Some people like the geeky girl/Superhero, see Clark/Chloe, Oliver/Felicity.
4) Love interests tend to not get developed well as characters. All Laurel did in S1 was basically eat dinner and be in a love triangle. It was only in S2 when she stopped being a love interest that they started to develop her. It's a bit funny that Felicity is so popular with fandom considering she's got zero development as a character in 2 seasons, besides a throwaway line about her family.
I'm hoping they do better by Iris, but unlike Laurel, she doesn't have a Superhero future of her own, so I'm not sure how interesting her storyline is, considering Caitlin's potential one if she's anything like her comic counterpart.
Personally, I'm rarely a shipper, I like dynamics more than romances and since writers seem to have a problem with writing decent romantic storylines, I can sometimes be an anti-shipper and just prefer everyone single and getting a decent storyline.
Yes, I lost a bet and had to read the first book. It's the same thing as Oliver and Felicity: The homely, plain girl wins over the heart of the rich, handsome Adonis with perfect 6 pack abs who spends a lot of time brooding. Then again, that same plot has been used many times before either Arrow or 50 shades.
Well... That is kind the whole premise of the book, so... Still not a great comparison. I don't find Felicity plain, Laurel is plain, totally, Felicity has her own shades, and she doesn't go with everything Oliver wants, and is not afraid to call bullshit on him, so... I still think that you missed the mark a little. But, yeh, we love some 6-pack millionaires... xD
I and everyone I know who watches the show find are to be very average. Some even say she's unattractive. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, I guess.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
Not really digging their chemistry. Maybe it grows as the show progresses.
ReplyDeleteI am liking him more with the other friend. Caitlin snow
ReplyDeleteyeah definitely want him with caitlin

ReplyDeleteSorry Iris, I'll be pulling for Caitlin, or even better Felicity, not that that's ever going to happen...
ReplyDeleteWeird that I hate olicity, don't care about Felicity and am a HUGE Laurel fan, yet I'm digging Caitlin more than iris and barry
ReplyDeleteHow are people already shipping Caitlin and Barry, we haven't even seen them really interact. Shippers.

ReplyDeleteSee that I get, but this while shipping them thing. I don't, particularly seen Caitlin's fiancee died in the STAR labs explosion
ReplyDeleteCan we please eradicate the term 'friend-zoned'? It's an atrocious concept. Also, why is the lighting so horrible in that scene?

Sorry for the long-ass reply.
i think i prefer his chemistry with caitlin ..
ReplyDeleteI don't care about the ships in this show or Arrow. I just hope this fandom behaves better than the Arrow fandom when it comes to romance.
ReplyDeleteYeah those Arrow fans have obviously been reading too much 50 shades of Gray given their love of the Oliver/Felicity pairing.
ReplyDeleteThanks for helping me to understand shipping more.
ReplyDeleteLOL, I don't even know if I understand it, but happy if I did. Love your Avatar ;)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Avatar state ftw.
ReplyDeleteOo
ReplyDeleteAre you sure you read 50 shades of gray and watched Arrow?
Cause taht's the worst comparison I've EVER seen o.o'''
