no surprise i was hoping he wouldn't because the relationship with him and octavia makes me throw up why couldn't he be 19
ReplyDeleteI actually like his and octavia's relationship,he can stay definitely!!
ReplyDeletepls linctavia 4 lyf
ReplyDeleteIKR!!
ReplyDeleteGreat news! I'm also quite enjoying him on Mistresses... Wink wink*
ReplyDeleteno
ReplyDeleteGreat, but I hope they give him more storyline than just with O .... I like to see more of him with Bellamy and Finn. He could be so much more than just a love interest.
ReplyDeleteAmen to that !
ReplyDeletewhat's the no for?
ReplyDeleteHe's this show's version of Lost's Juliet...
ReplyDeleteYes so happy i love him.
ReplyDeleteLol that tweet! Also, this is excellent news.
ReplyDeleteI wonder what that means for his character on Mistresses.
ReplyDeleteYessssssss Lincoln & Octavia all the way!
ReplyDeleteI love his relationship with Octavia, but I do hope they give him more to do besides being her love interest. I kinda want to see a friendship develop with him and Finn.
ReplyDeletelincoln is the Bonnie Bennet of this show.
ReplyDeleteEverytime they need someone conveniently saved he pops in and saves the day.
But he is hot and while i don't care much about him and Octavia, i don't mind them either so whatever. They can stay.
Nothing if he stays a recurring character (I believe). If he becomes a regular on, say the 100, he might have to drop Mistresses and vice versa depending on the terms of his contract,
ReplyDeleteYAY :D:D:D
ReplyDeleteWell I can't do gymnastics like that, inside I feel the same way. He's our very best chance to get to know more about thedifferent kinds of grounders and that is the most interesting part of the story for me right now.
ReplyDeleteI just want to know more about the grounders so I don't care which of the 100 he interacts with. Quite frankly, I hope he interacts with other types of grounders instead of either Bellamy or Finn.
ReplyDeleteI hope he stays recurring on both shows.
ReplyDeleteHe is nothing like Bonnie Bennet. People need to stop comparing TVD to everything. The show couldn't be more different.
ReplyDeleteI was so happy! I think he's one of the characters Jason was talking about when he said he wanted to "slow things" down a bit and explore character development. Now I wonder about Dichen Lachman. Will Anya be a regular guest?
ReplyDeleteNo he is not. There is not one comparison between TVD and The 100 characters that works, and there shouldn't be.
ReplyDeleteI agree. I want to see both him and Octavia outside of that relationship. Which is why I'm not happy that the season ended with them being alone together.
ReplyDeleteWell that was obvious since he didn't die and had Octavia with him.
ReplyDeleteShe's another character I would like to see explored more. Obviously she's not a Grounder Queen like I've been calling her. More like a Captain from what we've seen of the story structure. I'd love to know more about how they are set-up socially and politically, what contacts they have with the other types of grounders (including more about reapers and mountain men), etc. There story about surviving after nuclear holocaust fascinates me.
ReplyDeleteI don't watch TVD but he has been used largely as a plot device, I agree. Still he is the single best source of grounder information we have right now so hopefully he will be used to fill in teh holes of their story more next season. And luckily the show runner decides who stays and who doesn't. I'd hate for TV to be driven by popularity contest. :-)
ReplyDeleteI agree. If the Mountain Men are decendants of the rich and political that survived the war, who are the Grounders ancestors? Who are the Reapers? Who is the Commander of the Grounders? So many questions. Were the Grounders ancestors military that didn't make it to Mount Weather but survived still? The FEMA bunker was virtually left to rot so how did no one know of it's supplies? Why did the Reapers turn cannabilistic when others did not. There is an entire world to explore here and I can't wait to get started.
ReplyDeleteThat sounds interesting, but I am not sure if there is enough room for that on the show. There are already two story arcs, the kids and the adults, show runners might not give the grounders their own. My guess is we only learn through Lincoln and Octavia about the other Grounders, after all the main story will be fighting and exploring the Mountain Men in Season 2.
ReplyDeleteI thought this was a given.
ReplyDeleteI guess it depends on how quickly the 100 and adults are reunited. I definitely agree that a main part of the story will revolve around the mountain men because they are the best armed, which makes them the biggest threat.

ReplyDeleteAnyway, I think JR wants to explore some of these next season but also save a few answers for other seasons. He mentioned Lost and how they found part if the plane in S3. Lost didn't execute very well after that season and it didn't end well. I hope he doesn't make it so convoluted, the average viewer walks away. The first season was so well done and opened up so many possibilities, they can only go wrong if they don't execute, plan and develop. I haven't been so excited about a show since SPN started and I watch a lot of TV and science fiction.
Oh and your avatar brings back my love of Dean. The nostalgia of when SPN was amazing. I still love it but it's not the same show. The writers spend too much time trying to be cute and funny. They've forgotten how wickedly dark and awesome this show was.
ReplyDeleteAgred about LOST which lost me at the end of season 2. Too many times sci fi shows crumble under the weight of their own mytharc. So far The 100 has been pretty straightforward and that has served them well. I am good with us getting answers as we go provided that it doesn't become all questions and no answers. They have a lot of different ways to go so no worries about them running out of ideas either.
ReplyDeleteI actually stopped watching Supernatural after the disastrous season 8 in which Jeremy Carver took everything great about the show and gave it the middle finger. I have season 9 ready to watch but I can't bring myself to watch it yet. Still Dean Winchester, especially seasons 1-3) is my favorite TV character of all time and everything I do on the internet uses this avatar. I can't bring myself to change it. No one would recognize me.
ReplyDeleteGod, I agree. Then they do it with a smile and think we're supposed to like it. I think it started with a little of Sera's run for me. They started systematically taking away little things about the brothers that meant so much to me as a fan from day one. The amulet, the Impala was parked, Bobby's was burned down, Bobby, Ellen and Jo died. Their bond. The level of trust. It's ok to strip down to the bare essentials if you're rebuilding. They weren't, and didn't.
ReplyDeleteYay.
ReplyDeleteSupernatural before the writers' strike is always going to be my favorite. After that I had major issues, especially with seasons 4, 5, and definitely 8. I still can't believe that Kripke did not rescue the amulet. That was heartbreaking. Just a 2 second clip of Sam picking it back out was all I needed. He could have given Dean the amulet before jumping into the pit in Swan Song. Argh! Benching Baby for more than a couple of episodes was sacrilege as well. She's the only character I never wanted to smack. I was shocked that Kripke killed off both Ellen and Jo, especially when he had the brothers lose anyway in the rest of the episode. A truly heartbreaking scene, one of the best, but pointless. That was when Kripke decided the brothers could never win and it was incredibly frustrating to me.
ReplyDeleteAs for Bobby, for me the big problem was that they killed him off in one of the best episodes they've had, but then they mitigated all the heart of the episode by bringing him back as a ghost a few episodes later. Either keep them or kill them. Don't get me wrong. By that point, Bobby and Crowley were my favorite characters but don't try to emotionally manipulate me if you're just going to bring the character back. Then Carver blew canon all to hell by saying Sam didn't look for Dean and forced us into yet another contrived brother rift that lasted almost the whole season. Taxi Driver is when I knew I couldn't take any more of his canon-obliterating nonsense. The show that I spent the vast majority of my time/money promoting, supporting, and discussing was gone so I went too.
It's like you are in my head. All of those things and more are painful to watch now. There is no way S1-3 Sam would have left Dean to rot in Purgatory. They ruined so much about their relationship, I don't know if they can come back from it. Every episode after Dean threw the amulet away, I looked for moments Sam could have given it back but they couldn't be bothered to rectify that colossal mistake. They knew by fan reaction how wrong that was. Dean, to me, is still Dean. It's the people and situations around him that have changed and his reactions to them. Like you, he will always be my favorite character. I just hope S10 gives me something to love. I like Cas ok but I honestly think introducing him along with the Angel story was their downfall. They had changed show runners and there was no continuity. Now there is an online petition of some sort from fans who want Bobby back. No. I was trashed by fans who didn't understand your above concept. Either be there or stay dead. I quoted Dean "What's dead should stay dead" and it seemed they had never heard it. I just SMH at the waste. God love Jensen and Jared for continuing on and persevering. As for S9, it had highlights but I've never hated Sam more. That hurt my brother loving heart.
ReplyDeleteThere are 2 quotes from Dean that are my guiding forces with TV. The first is, "No chick flick moments." The second is "What's dead should stay dead." I have never understood the idea of killing off a character just to bring them back. Not even when Kripke was doing it. It screams of running out of ideas or worse trying to backpedal out of a writers' corner you got yourself stuck in. If you can't plan any better than that, you shouldn't be writing for TV. Stick with movies. For me, the writers' stirke is to blame for bringing angels on to Supernatural to begin with. Early on Kirpke vowed that he was not going there but in the aftermath of the writers' strike he didn't have enough time to build up Sam saving Dean. What a shame! Angels ruined SPN in my opnion by giving them a get out of jail free card. Whenever they didn't know how the brothers could extricate themselves from a situation they jsut sent in Cas, the Happy Plot Device Angel. It was frustrating. Then Sera brought them back in season 6 when their plot line was over. For me that was the biggest mistake Sera made. Not Bobby, not misusing Eve, not benching the Impala. She kept the angels. That was her SPN sin.
ReplyDeleteDon't worry about SPN Family flack. No one trashes their own better than the SPN fandom. I was crucified in season 8 but it sucked out loud and i wasn't going to sugarcoat that. I'm glad that Dean is still Dean but I am horrified to hearthat they threw Sam under the bus again. It was bad enough in season 4. The brothers are the core, foundation, and centerpiece of Supernatural. It's a shame that Carver never grasped that, especially since he wrote such a marvelous brother story in A Very SPN Christmas. You can't have the story without Dean AND Sam and you can't always keep them in a perpetual fight for no reason. Contrived conflict between the brothers that just didn't work is actually a problem that all three showrunners had. For once it would be nice if someone had the emotional drama come from an outside source and have the brothers united against it. They were able to do that in a large part of seasons 2-3. Why not try it again now? The only time contrived brother drama really worked for them was in season 1 when the characters were just getting to know each other again and trying to figure out how to work together.
That's what surprised me about Carver. He knows these brothers. He knows the fans. How could he just turn it all upside down and then try to rationalize it? How could he or any of the writers be surprised by backlash? I don't agree with harassing the writers, but when they ask opinion, I don't hold back. As for the fans trashing my comment, I could not care less. I hate to say it but half the fandom is now Stepford, another quarter or so, slash shippers. They take anything the writers give them and love it. I don't. I know BS when I see it, lack of continuity and creativity. I see a bond being irrevocably broken. I see a bipolar Sam. An increasingly depressed Dean with no hope. Crowley, who I do love, seemed to have more feeling and compassion for Dean in the S9 finale than Sam did. As for the angel storyline, that should have been a SPN spinoff. Not our entire show basis. I think I needed to vent this, thank you!
ReplyDeleteWe all need to vent when our favorite shows stall into huge messes. Thanks for letting me do the same. Thanks also for the warning about season 9. I may have to digest it in little chunks so I don't get furious.
