Bones will likely end, B99 should if have good rating, SH should be renew, Gotham if rating is strong but it batman and Jim Gordon.....people will tune in
ReplyDeleteIf Bones does end then I highly doubt it will be classed as cancelled. More likely given as "last season" ala ER House and HIMYM.
ReplyDeleteRenewals: Sleepy Hollow, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, New Girl, The Mindy Project (final season), Gracepoint (the trailer looked great but it's facing off against The Blacklist and Scandal, so maybe not).
ReplyDeleteRed Band Society could be renewed or cancelled as could Heirolgyph (but it could become another Sleepy Hollow type hit).
Cancellations: Mulaney and Last Man on Earth. Backstrom (another Rake?),
Unsure: Empire, Wayward Pines and Weird Loners.
Most likely to be renewed: Sleepy Hollow, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Gotham, Family Guy, Gracepoint, The Simpsons, Red Band Society, New Girl
ReplyDeleteCould go either way: The Following, Wayward Pines, Empire, Border Town, Backstrom
Most likely to be cancelled: The Mindy Project (final season), Bones (final season), Mulaney, Last Man on Earth, Hieroglyph, Weird Loners
Fox shows are really hard to predict what will be renewed / cancelled , but here it goes.
ReplyDeleteShows To Get Renewed: The Following, Brooklyn Nine Nine , Sleepy Hollow , Bones (Final Season) , New Girl , Glee(already renewed) , Family Guy , Simpsons and Bobs Burgers. (American Dad Now on TBS).
Also despite the big competition from TBBT and the football i believe Gotham will get a renewal , also Heirolgyph and Red Band Society, Wayward Pines could also be renewed , but i believe its a limited series. Im also going to say that they will renew Gracepoint and Last Man on earth.
Shows To Get Cancelled:The Mindy Project (Final Season) , Empire , Mulaney , Weird Loners , Bordertown.
Shows I want to be renewed are: The Following , Gotham , Last Man on Earth and Wayward Pines.
Renewals: Sleepy Hollow, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, New Girl, The Mindy Project, Family Guy, The Simpsons, Gotham
ReplyDeleteCancellations: Backstrom, Weird Loners, Last Man on Earth, Gracepoint (it was meant only for 10 episodes), Hieroglyph, Empire, The Following
Final seasons: Glee, Bones
Unsure: Mulaney, Red Band Society
People are saying that The Mindy Project will be cancelled after this season, but it actually finished the season tying or beating New Girl. Not only that, but it needs another season to reach syndication, so I say is a likely renewal.
ReplyDeleteCANCEL FOX.
ReplyDeleteIt's FOX. Everything gets cancelled.
ReplyDeleteReturning shows:
ReplyDeleteRenewed: Sleepy Hollow, New Girl, The Mindy Project, Family Guy, The Simpsons
Could go either way: Brooklyn Nine-Nine (lead-in is good, but it delivered low ratings during year one).
Canceled: The Following
Bones will get a final season.
New shows:
Renewed: Gotham.
Canceled: everything else
I'm only focusing on fall shows. No midseason.
ReplyDeleteFor the returning, Sleepy Hollow, New Girl, Family Guy, Mindy Project Simpsons, and Bones will all be renewed for syndication or utility player purposes. For the rest, B99 has a compatible lead-in, as well as football to help, but the show didn't do so hot post-SB, and it was probably renewed for critical success a la The Good Wife. The Following slumped hard, and I don't see Season 3 doing so well either. It's probably canceled. Bob's Burgers is 50/50. It's clear Fox has little interest in the show, but Cleavland and King of the Hill lasted in that timeslot for 2 seasons, the latter even more. So maybe Bob's Burgers will get renewed, but maybe not.
As for the newbies, Gotham is a definite. The promotion it got from 24 before it was even announced on the fall schedule shows its the one Fox wants to succeed. Red Band Society is stuck with a relatively decent lead-in, but is stuck with facing Modern Family, Criminal Minds, and The 100 targets the same teen audience RBS is trying to get. And with AI, don't expect this to be a long-term player. Gracepoint is an unsure cause. The show will face Scandal and 2.5 Men's final season, but it is very brief so it won't hit any slump when Blacklist comes in. And I'm surprised how people don't see Mulaney have a chance. It's behind Fox's #1 show, and Fox's comedy situation is dire. It has a huge chance for renewal.
Renewals: Sleepy Hollow. Also Family Guy & The Simpsons - both have been on for years and will probably continue to get renewals.
ReplyDeleteIt looks like Gotham may be really popular so that should probably take off and will likely get another season, but it's hard to say since it hasn't started yet.
Bones I think should end at 10 seasons.
Renew: Simpsons, Family Guy, Brooklyn 99 and Mindy Project, and probably Gotham unless it does horribly.
ReplyDeleteWayward Pines and Broadchurch could go either way. Broadchurch Fox were desperate to acquire and desperate to have turn into a long-running series (though it's difficult to imagine how it will progress as the UK original was written as a 3-season trilogy and Gracepoint reportedly has a different ending), this might work for it, or might just increase pressure and expectations too much.
Hieroglyph for a very fast cancel.
Everything but The Simpson, that show will last forever!
ReplyDeleteI wasn't sure on quite a few of these, but here's my best guess.
ReplyDeleteRenewed: Backstrom, Bones, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Empire, Family Guy, Gotham, Gracepoint, Mulaney, New Girl, Red Band Society, The Simpsons, Sleepy Hollow
Cancelled: Bordertown, The Following, Hieroglyph, Last Man on Earth, The Mindy Project, Weird Loners
I hope Red Band Society does well. It's the only show on FOX I'm looking forward to.
ReplyDeleteI found this really hard, Fox have a bunch of itneresting new shows but I'm not sure if they will do well or not
ReplyDeleteObvious renewals first: The animated shows, Bones (if they want to do more), New Girl
Most likely to be renewed unless something goes majorly bad: Sleepy Hollow - I'm still a little doubtful because the huge gap between seasons may damage ratings but I hope not. Mindy Project (hey it has lasted this long) and B99
New shows most likely to do well: Red Band Society, Gracepoint
New shows most likely doomed: Mulaney - I like his stand-up but the show seems bad, Hieroglyph
Shows I really have no idea how they will do: Weird Loners, Bordertown, Empire and Backstrom
Shows I want to be renewed: B99, Sleepy Hollow
New shows I'm interested in based on trailers/news, etc: Gotham, Gracepoint, Last Man On Earth
FOX is really hard because it feels like they are going in every direction at the same time so I really don't know.
ReplyDeleteReturning Shows:
- Bones: Renewal unless the cast really demands too high prices, but even then I am not sure an announced final season won't be ordered since how much FOX still needs it
- Brooklyn Nine-Nine: I think it will do better on relative terms on Sundays than it did on Tuesdays, so if FOX was willing last year, they should be willing next year as well. I say renewal
- Sleepy Hollow: Renewal
- The Following: I am not certain on the cancellation as some people are. I think the Olympics could have hurt it more than it appears since as it was a serial without breaks, so if you've missed three weeks of it, you likely won't get back to it before the end of the season. I dunno, maybe it's just my wishful thinking. Also, the fact that it was early renewed shows that it wasn't even on the bubble this year, so that's probably telling. I will say renewal for a final season for now.
- The Mindy Project: Renewal
- The New Girl: Renewal
New Shows Whose Slot We Know:
- Gotham: Renewal
- Gracepoint: I think it's one and done anyway
- Mulaney: Cancellation
- Red Band Society: I have no clue at all how this one will do. I will say cancellation because when it comes to new shows, that's the safest best when you don't know how to go
New Shows whose Slot we Don't Know Yet:
- Backstorm: Cancellation
- Empire: Cancellation
- Hieroglyph: Renewal (I see this going for summer and looking decent enough for summer)
- Last Man on Earth: Cancellation
- Weird Loners: Renewal
Gracepoint will not face off The Blacklist since it's a 10 episode season (series ?), which means it will only run in the fall, whereas The Blacklist will only move to Thursday in February. Its competition will be Scandal, Bad Judge/A to Z, Thursday Night Football and later Two and a Half Men/The McHarthys, and Reign.
ReplyDeleteI agree
ReplyDeleteB99 suffered from compatibility issues with New Girl imo.Its ratings at 8h30 were actually pretty decent but I think it was too much incompatible with New Girl and got lost in the shuffle there. That, and the overall spring ratings decline from FOX are what caused its low ratings in my opinion. Bob's Burguers never went below 1.5 this year after The Simpsons and that's hardly a hit. I think B99 can do decent there.
ReplyDeleteYou may very well be right and we may be under-estimating Mulaney. My reasoning was that FOX will need one of those slots to launch Bordertown at some point (if not, to launch a new animated comedy next year or so) and I think B99 is likelier to get saved than Mulaney. However, FOX has shown to be very much open to shuffle things around so maybe this is the wrong way to think about this network.
ReplyDeleteCan Wayward Pines and Gracepoint even be renewed though?
ReplyDeleteI think the problem is that FOX is going in a lot of different directions at the same time and its schedule is basically a bunch of unknowns, with a lot of moves and no real stability, so it is very hard for us to guess. I also felt it was the most difficult one (excluding midseason entries from the likes of NBC and such) and that's saying something.
ReplyDeleteI would like to share your confidence for Gracepoint and Red Band Society since I am rooting for both shows and want to watch both shows, but I don't honestly feel that confident about either, especially Red Band Society. By the way, you've forgotten The Following and Gotham in there.
I don't know, why wouldn't they be? I mean, I don't know about Wayward Pines, but Gracepoint everyone involved (cast, crew and Fox execs) has been talking about wanting it to become a long-running show and about putting plans in place for season two. Like the returning cast aren't taking new acting roles past the end of the year right now because they're waiting on renewal news, all the sets and props have been stored etc. The UK original is only going to have two more seasons but that doesn't mean Gracepoint is limited to 3 seasons.
ReplyDeleteOh thanks I knew I had missed some, would add The Following to renewed if though I hate it and Gotham I'm unsure about I want it to succeed but its hard to know.
ReplyDeleteRed Band Society seems pretty different, I mean it could work but I really have no idea with any show now and what works for one season could end up flat-lining by the time S2 comes around.
Fyi Gracepoint was set up to be a long-running series, but that the first season would work as a self-contained story in the event it didn't get renewed. Somehow this and the short episode number as led to the misconception that it was only ever intended for one season. This isn't the case, the sets are in storage and the actors are currently waiting to see whether Gracepoint will be picked up for a second season (the cast and crew seem to be pretty positive about it's chances of renewal) The UK show it's a remake of is actually a trilogy so they have 3 seasons before they need to start diverting from the original.
ReplyDeleteI'm going to give my opinion on shows I watch/plan to watch:
ReplyDelete- I think this will be New Girl and The Following's last season. After this season is over New Girl will have enough episodes for syndication and the ratings were less than stellar in S3. Kevin Bacon had a contract for three seasons and I doubt he will do one more.
- The Simpsons is a lock. I don't watch Family Guy but it's also a sure thing.
- Sleepy Hollow will get renewed.
- About Gotham I don't know.....I'm incredible excited about this show and it looks really good but with FOX you never know. I hope they don't air the episodes out of order.
Well Mulaney is only 16 episodes. So they could just run through the whole order, then place Bordertown in the slot.
ReplyDeleteActually, we know Backstrom's time slot. It will go Thursdays 9 pm (post-Bones) when Gracepoint is done.
ReplyDeleteSadly I'm too late to vote, but here are my predictions anyway. Fox is very difficult to predict, as others have said, because you never know which way they are going. It also is the network I am least invested/interested in so I don't remember what all the new shows are about.
ReplyDeleteReturning shows
Sleepy Hollow: certain renewal
Bones, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, New Girl, The Following, The Mindy Project: likely renewed
New shows
Scheduled:
Backstrom: canceled
Gotham: renewed
Gracepoint: the high praise of the cast makes me think this has a shot. Renewed
Mulaney: canceled
Red Band Society: canceled
Unscheduled: (no idea where these are gonna go)
Empire: canceled
Hieroglyph: renewed
Last Man On Earth: canceled
Weird Loners: canceled
I think that is probable but far from given. Has that been officially confirmed? Although the pairing would make sense, I've also seen that FOX wants to air Empire after AI which would imply that AI would air twice a week (Wednesdays and Thursdays). Also, I am not clear on what will pair with The Following on Mondays once Gotham and Sleepy Hollow ends. Also not clear on what they will do with Utopia's timeslots if it fails. There is also Fridays to tackle. Bottom line: Bones could easily be moved. In addition, I am not certain FOX wants to launch a new drama against the blacklist and scandal at the same time.
ReplyDeleteI didn't know Mulaney was only 16 episodes, I missed that!
ReplyDeleteI can't seem to find any confirmation but I'm pretty sure I must have read it somewhere. But yeah, Fox certinaly has a lot of time slots left. And Bones could always be moved, it has been moved around a lot!
