Hey All,
As you know each year we try to see how good your prediction skills are in determining which shows will be Renewed and which ones will be Cancelled.
You can see how we did last season here.
Today it's the CW shows. You can find promos, clips and photos for most of the shows via the CW Menu at the top of the site.
There are 2 Polls below. One for Renewals and one for Cancellations.
So vote below and let us know in the comments which shows you hope will be renewed, and which ones you think will be cancelled.
Previous Networks
NBC Renew/Cancel Polls
ABC Renew/Cancel Polls
Arrow obviously renew
ReplyDeleteThe hardest of all networks to predict because the CW lives in its ratings bubble:
ReplyDeleteObvious renewals: Arrow, Supernatural, Vampire Diaries, The Originals
Most likely to be renewed unless something goes majorly bad: The Flash, Reign, The 100
New shows most likely to do well: The Flash, iZombie
New shows most likely doomed: It is so hard to guess because what is doomed on every other network ends up with 3 seasons on the CW.
Shows I really have no idea how they will do: The Messengers, Jane The Virgin
Shows which could go either way: Hart of Dixie - depends on how many eps for S4 and how close it is to syndication. Beauty and the Beast, I guess if the numbers for the summer episodes airing now stay study the CW could turn it into a summer show.
Shows I want to be renewed: iZombie if its good.
New shows I'm interested in based on trailers/news, etc: iZombie
Returning shows
ReplyDeleteArrow, The Vampire Diaries and Supernatural: certain renewals
Reign, The 100 and The Originals: likely renewed
Hart of Dixie: likely canceled/final season
Beauty and the Beast: could be an OK summer show. Renewed
New shows
Scheduled:
Jane the Virgin: The Originals does not seem like a compatible lead-in, and it doesn't have huge numbers anyway (it was outrated multiple times by Supernatural). Canceled
The Flash: renewed
Unscheduled: (no idea where these are gonna go)
iZombie: canceled
The Messengers: renewed
Being Renewed: Arrow, SPN, The 100, The Flash, The Originals, The Vampire Diaries
ReplyDeleteCould go either way: iZombie, The Messengers, Reign
Being Cancelled: BatB, Hart of Dixie, Jane the Virgin
Shows I Think Will Be Renewed: Arrow , The 100 , The Flash , The Originals , TVD and SPN.
ReplyDeleteShows I Think Will be Cancelled: Jane The Virgin , BATB and Hart Of Dixie (Final Season)
Shows That Could Be Renewed Or Cancelled: I Zombie , The Messengers and Reign.
Renew: Arrow, The Flash, VD, iZombie, The Originals, Supernatural
ReplyDeleteCancel: BATB, HoD, The 100, The Messenger, Jane The Virgin, Reign
Not sure why but I have this funny feeling that "Jane the Virgin" will do really really well.
ReplyDeleteBesides the gimmicky way the lead becomes pregnant this show is about family and the love they share despite their family drama.
"Jane the Virgin" is going to be a cross between "Ugly Betty" and "Hart of Dixie" and it will be a hit I predict.
Meh, I just can't say, CW sure surprised me a lot this season. I'm not sure I trust them to make logical decitions.
ReplyDeleteReturning shows:
ReplyDeleteRenewed: Arrow, Reign (it can go BATB 2.0 and be renewed because of CBS), Supernatural, The Originals, The Vampire Diaries.
Canceled: BATB and HOD
Could go either way: The 100, but I'm leaning towards renewal, it showed promise during summer.
New shows:
Renwed: The Flash
Canceled: Jane The Virgin
It depends on the timeslot: The Messengers and iZombie, there is no advantage between them.
Returning Shows:
ReplyDeleteRenewed:Arrow, SPN, The Originals, TVD(For One Final Season)
Could Go Either way: The 100
Shows that I wouldn't be surprised if canceled but may be renewed:
BatB, HoD, Reign. Batb could run from late spring into summer next year, and if it maintains decent numbers, another 13 seems like an option. HoD was renewed for 13(Bumped to 10), nor was it announced as final, or given the Nikita treatment, so could another short order have been/be in the cards to get it to Syndication? or could it sail quietly off?
Reign=Batb 2.0
New Shows:
Renewed:The Flash, Possibly Jane the Virgin.(It's not bad and it could be BatB 3.0/Reign 2.0)
Canceled: the Messengers. (I've watched 5 Min so far) It looks good, but I feel it will go the way of Star-crossed ratings wise. Can't explain it but I just feel it, which sucks.
Could go either way: iZombie, could be a true cult hit, could be a true cult-like flop.
Obvious renewals: Arrow, The Flash, Supernatural, The 100, The Originals, The Vampire Diaries (unless the actors don't agree to do a S7).
ReplyDeleteCould go either way: iZombie and The Messengers. Don't get me wrong I'm interested in both shows but I'm trying to be realistic. Also Reign and BatB. I love Reign and I don't like BatB but if Reign's ratings keep dropping CBS is going to choose BatB over Reign (both CBS shows).
Canceled: Hart of Dixie. I'm sure next season will be the last. Also Jane The Virgin unless it's the surprise of the season.
im confused is the messengers supposed to be a show or movie?
ReplyDeletebecause its listed everywhere as being a tv movie...
IMDB lists TV pilots as TV movies, they still keep that status when approved and some of them are only upgraded close to the premiere.
ReplyDeleteim only watching the messengers for shantel vansanten
ReplyDeletei aint even sorry
I believe Reign and BATB won't be fighting each other.
ReplyDeleteFor me, CW keeps BATB if it does well on summer (0.3-0.4 range), but Reign's got a full season order, CW did not cancel both Nikita and BATB despite their low second season performances. They renew every show with two full seasons.
But there is a scenario where CW gets rid of Reign: both CBS shows (Jane and The Messengers) are successful, considering that mondays at 9 will be the second most viewed hour on teleivision (only behind the hour before), chances of this happening are minimum.
I think
ReplyDeleteRenewed:Arrow,TO,SPN,VD,Reign(CW dosent cancel shows with two two full seasons and CBS is wanting more of its shows on and CW seems to love/support it)
Cancelled:BatB,HoD-I think the short seasons next season are to wrap up and HoD will have 76 episodes ,enough to syndicate
New shows with best chance of renewal/being hits :Flash,IZombie
New shows most Likley to be cancelled:Jane,Messengers
I voted for the same "obvious renewals" as you did.
ReplyDeleteI'm differentiating between"cancelled" and 'final season completed'. To me both B&TB and HoD go in the "FSC/Cancelled".
Like you if B&TB's ratings hold/don't drop too much and Reign (I really like Reign, btw) can't pull itself up by it's breech or bodice straps to be just above the bottom of next season's CW ratings, I'd vote (but didn't) for B&TB to get a another short S4 and Reign to be cancelled. (I voted Reign to be renewed and B&TB 'FSC".
I voted JtV to be cancelled.
iZombie and The Messengers I'm 50/50 on; I'm not entirely impressed with Rose McIver - to me she's ok as Tink on QUAT but was unimpressive as 'Cathy' on the Lifetime adaptation of "Petals on the Wind" - of course I thought the script was pretty bad, too. (I'm guilty of ready the whole 'trashy series' lol ). I've never seen of the female lead of The Messengers work but the concept of TM appeals to more than iZombie. So I did a figurative mental coin toss and voted iZombie to be renewed and TM cancelled. With both shows premiering mid season it's not likely both will be renewed.
With their contracts expiring next season Supernatural is not a shoe-in for renewal
ReplyDeleteBeauty and the Beast and Hart of Dixie are on the fence, they could both end, or be used as Summer Shows.
ReplyDeleteGiven how poorly "Famous in 12" debuted I'd 'vote' for either be renewed for 10-13episode B&TB S4/HoD S5 (assuming Rachel Bilson wants the show to continue once her baby is born) to be aired in the summer. Both shows have established fan bases and I expect fans would be delighted to see new seasons of scripted shows in the summer.
I haven't watched Petals in the Wind but I read the books. I loved the first movie despite the flaws (so much better than the 80s movie) so I hope this one doesn't disappoint me. The book is crazy so I'm not expecting greatness. The first book is the only good book the others are just crazy fun lol.
ReplyDeleteI think either Jane or The Messengers will get renewed. Especially if other CBS shows like BatB get canceled.
ReplyDeleteI call renewal on The 100, Arrow, The Originals, The Flash, The Vampire Diaries and Reign.
ReplyDeleteMost likely to end: Hart of Dixie.
Most likely to be cancelled: Jane The Virgen.
I have no idea: Beauty and The Beast, iZombie, The Messengers
About The 100, as I said CW has a bad luck/bad track record when it comes to midseason shows that get renewed and placed in fall for season two-Life Unexpected,Carrie. Most shows do fall season to season and The 100 won't get as much promotion next season or this summer and it's only solid but not a hit this season so it won't much for it fall to cancellation levels.Plus, I'm hearing a lot of people saying they're tired of the love triangle and won't watch next season.
ReplyDeleteReweals:
ReplyDeleteSupernatural, Arrow and The Vampire Diaries seem like safe bets.
Not too sure:
The Originals new slot is seriously looking bad, hoping for a renewal though even if it gets bad ratings. If a stinker like BatB gets a third season TO should get the benefit of the doubt
The Flash...well I don't dare saying that it's sure renewal simply because good early buzz can't safe a show. It's getting hyped up now but if Flash can't live up to the hype the dissapointment will be epic and this is NOT ABC where AoS can't somehow stabilize. Like Reign last year Flash looks fairly money consuming as well
iZombie, it's such a curious little thing that it might just exceed expectations
Leaning towards cancellation:
Reign, it hasn't been doing too well lately despite the good lead in.
Hart of Dixie, got a short episode order and despite the low budget the ratings are gruesome
Jane the Virgin, the trailer was okay but such shows tend to go under
Cancellation:
BatB, surprised about the 13 episode renewal BUT that was it for sure. Sorta like Nikita
ITA the original movie FITA is inferior to recent version - I liked the recent version, too. But IMO the Lifetime adaptation of PITW was weaker, there's a few more changes from book. You may like it equal to FITA. I also agree that the book FITA was superior to the sequels, nevertheless I inhaled them too - which was odd for me at the time since my preferred reading genre back then - and now - is SciFi - my local drugstore (where I bought most of my 'paperbacks') must have been out of appealing Scifi books that trip. I think at the time I started to read the series the first two books were already 'out'.
ReplyDeleteiZombie should be quite good but the main character's voiceover reminds me of Kristin Bell's VM narration - not a bad thing, but could be if Thomas's intention is to more to recreate 'ZombieVM 2.0' and deviate far from the comic book series that inspired it. I'm not explaining myself well. I do plan to watch both iZombie and TM though.
I can see everyone betting on The Vampire Diaries as a sure renewal, but I think I read that the actors are contracted until Season 6 and some of them don't want to continue. Can anyone confirm or debunk it, please?
ReplyDeleteSame deal with TVD yet neither show has been announced as "The Final Season" yet.
ReplyDeleteSpeaking only for SPN, JA/JP and MC have all spoken of their willingness to continue the show and Pedowitz has said several times that he's a fan (unlike Ostroff) and as far as he was concerned SPN will be renewed as long as the ratings hold relatively well and the cast are willing to sign on for more seasons. The CW in Ostroff's 'day' wanted Smallville to go more than 10 seasons but Tom Welling didn't want to do more.
What love triangles - the show has already broken the existing love triangles.
ReplyDeleteI'm inclined to agree given the 'surprise renewal' of B&TB. If by chance both HoD and B&TB 'end' with 10 eps/13 eps respectively this upcoming season I expect CBS to do the same thing - insist on renewing either JtV or TM even if the ratings are lackluster (also Reign) over iZombie even if iZombie's ratings are similar. I expect The Flash's ratings to be on the high side of average if not in the top 3 CW ratings next season.
ReplyDeleteyes, they will continue till the end of season 6,as for season 7-it can happen if the actors renew their contracts, otherwise not. It's very likely CW will pull for a final 7th season with as many original cast as possible.Julie plec also confirmed that season 7 would most probably be their final season.
ReplyDeleteCW has never cancelled a show with two full seasons before, so if BatB can get renewed pulling 0.3s ,Reign can/will too especially since Pedowitz loves it
ReplyDeleteHoD has 10 episodes for season four
ReplyDeleteCW has never cancelled a show with two full seasons before, even BatB getting 0.3s got renewed so I think should be safe for season three and four
ReplyDeleteJP wants to do a seventh season but it seems Paul, Nina and Ian want to move on. I think they will try to convince them to do at least one short last season but it depends on what the actors want.
ReplyDeleteCW has never cancelled a show with two full seasons before not even BatB getting 0.3s and Pedowitz loves Reign plus CBS is demanding more of its shows are on the schedule so Reign should be safe
ReplyDeleteYou have posted here and tvbynumbers how much you dislike the show so I'm not surprised by your comments. I have been part of the fandom since day one and nobody cares about the non existent love triangle.
ReplyDeleteObviously you have never watched an episode because the only love triangle was dropped like two episodes ago.
Reign will renewed -CW lives the show and CW has never cancelled a show with two full seasons before, not even BatB getting 0.3s and CBS is pushing more of thier own shows on CW
ReplyDeleteI've never said I dislike the show, just that it's ratings aren't amazing.Actually, I read on tvbtn or tvguide people complaining about the love triangle last week.
ReplyDeleteI'm a frequent poster in tvbtn and nobody complained about the love triangle in the past weeks. Everybody was happy with the ratings. And The 100 ratings are better than half of the line up including Reign.
ReplyDeleteAnd in the past you have posted about how much you dislike the show and these types of shows and prefer shows like HoD and Reign. You posted this several times here and tvbtn. You are also a regular poster in these sties so I remember those kind of things.
I didnt know they have never cancelled a show after two full seaosns. I was shocked this season when they renewed BATB with it getting 0.3s.
ReplyDeleteI've never said I dislike the show, I don't care either way. What I HAVE said is that it lost half it's audience and declined faster than TTP( both which are true). If The 100 started in fall like Reign and lead in crash from 1.3 in fall to 0.7 in spring, it wouldnt be doing the same as Reign was.
ReplyDeleteThe only renewed BatB because CBS forced them to do it. Not even Pedowitz could come up with a good lie about that one. The thing is that the CW is owned by WB/CBS and WB has all the hits so CBS get some of their shows renewed even with terrible ratings.
ReplyDeleteStill the CW is very unpredictable when it comes to cancellation/renewals so there's no "sure thing". If Reign keeps dropping and the new CBS shows do better it will get canceled.
That doesn't make any sense. The 100 never got a 0.4 and 0.3 like TTP. And TTP fell faster than anything else especially when Arrow was getting 1s. Also I love Reign but nobody can deny it lost a lot of its audience and the season finale got a 0.4. That's never a good sign.
ReplyDeletePlease explain how The 100 lost half of its audience. The first episode got a 0.9 and now it keeps getting 0.6s. That's not half of the audience. And demo is the thing that matters the most.
And if we are going to play "what ifs" I wonder how Reign would be doing with no lead in and airing in the spring.
And no matter how The 100 does if Reign keeps dropping it will get canceled. You should be more worried about the other CBS shows like Jane, The Messengers and BatB instead of The 100 which is owned by both CBS/WB.
Can you give the sources in which Julie Plec wants to have 7 season and when Ian, Nina and Paul said that they don't want to. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteIf Hart of Dixie is not announced as final season by winter, I think it could be renewed for a final season of 13 episodes. The main reason, the show also didn't get a premiere in the fall is because Rachel is pregnant so she will not be able to shoot all episodes.
ReplyDelete0.9 to 0.5 is half it's audience and The 100 has gone to 0.5s and may today cause of preemptions and going to 0.5 in half hours. What I meant about The 100 falling faster than TTP lok at first episodes ratings of both
ReplyDeleteTTP : 0.9, 0.8, 0.7, 0.6.It took TTP eight or nine episode to get 0.5
The 100 0.9, 0.7,0.6,0.5 The 100 went from 0.9 to 0.5 in four episodes.
Reign got 0.5 both times I think with VD repeats as leadin.
VD got 1.3 in fall, 0.7-0.9 in spring
Arrow got 1.3 in fall and 0.8-0.9 in spring with one 0.7 whereas VD had multiple 0.7s.
Reign didn't do do good this spring but neither did Arrow,VD,TO or almost anything on CW.It still lost less of its audience in a season than Nikita,Secret Circle,BatB did in the same slot.
You mean two 22 episode seasons, right?
ReplyDeleteI wasn't aware that CBS/WB owned the CW , that is kind of stupid though that CBS pushed CW into renewing BATB , when a show such as the tomorrow people had a bigger audience. Even though TTP was a freshman show i still think it would have done better than BATB next season.
ReplyDeleteReign did make it to a 0.4 this season. I wouldn't push the possibility of a 0.3 out of the way for season 2.
ReplyDeleteObvious renewals: Supernatural, The Vampire Diaries, Arrow, The Originals
ReplyDeleteMost likely to be renewed: Reign, The 100, The Flash, iZombie
No idea: The Messengers
Doomed: Beauty and the Beast, Hart of Dixie, Jane the Virgin
I want iZombie to succeed too. This show looks amazing.
ReplyDeleteCool I wasn't sure at its ep count, yeah I can see a shortened final season happening.
ReplyDeleteI can't believe even some people voted for Arrow, Supernatural, The Originals(even if I don't watch it) and The Vampire Diaries(again, even if I don't watch it) as shows that may be cancelled. Those four, plus The Flash and iZombie, I believe, will all be renewed for the next season. I'm sure those two DC-related shows will get their audience, but the other shows…I would bet some or all of the other shows I haven't listed will be given the boot to Cancellation Town. Even if shows like Beauty and the Beast and Hart of Dixie has its audience now, certain situations makes it seem as if those shows may be getting cancelled without really getting appropriate "final seasons", unless otherwise stated before this coming season, and other shows such as The 100, Reign, The Messengers and Jane the Virgin, I feel, won't find their footing either.
ReplyDeleteMaybe but even BatB got 0.3s and a 0.2 and was still renewed.CW has never cancelled a show with two full seasons
ReplyDeleteRelying on a track record isn't the best thing to do though. Just because it never has that doesen't mean it never will.
ReplyDeleteReign has been doing fairly bad as of late.
Taking BatB as a counter example is also not really a good case. The doesen't have to squash out the ammount of budget Reign has to for period sets and period clothing. I'd argue that BatB is one of theCWs cheaper shows
Yes a full season is 22 episodes. The only second season shows cw has cancelled are
ReplyDeleteReaper-33 episodes
Life Unexpected -26 episodes
Carrie Diaries -26 episodes
No it won't as it's closer to syndication.
ReplyDeleteThank you for replying. :)
ReplyDeleteIMO, if the actors aren't willing, they shouldn't continue. It'll hurt the show to continue without the original cast. At last in my opinion.
I was shocked too.The only sophomore more shows they've cancelled are
ReplyDeleteCarrie Diaries 26 episodes
Life Unexpected 26 episodes
Reaper 33 episodes
Thank you for replying. :)
ReplyDeleteI didn't know about the creator. I hope they'll find a balance so the show has a proper ending.
I'm expected next season to be its last whatt with its low ratings and being shortened and having enough episodes to syndicate without a shortened final season.I don't know why CW hasn't announced it as the final season yet ,maybe they will when announce premire dates
ReplyDeleteJust like BatB Reign films in Canada and is a co-production so it's not as exspensive
ReplyDeletePeriod sets and clothes = canada locations and modern wardrobe pretending to be from the 16th century.
ReplyDeleteRemember, it's CW. And after Nikita and BATB, I doubt they'll cancel Reign.
Interesting; a few years back this would have been a nightmare for The CW, but now with other strong hits such as Arrow, Supernatural and The Originals, and solid performer The 100 (which could become a hit next fall) The CW could actually move on from TVD. 7 seasons is a good run for the show, and if the actors really want to move on, I think The CW will let them (not without a little negotation first)
ReplyDeleteEven if filmed in canada and being a co production the production values are STILL higher. It's not like being shot in canada makes up for the required materials.
ReplyDeleteI'm not going to argue with a Reign fan about me thinking that it'll be canned, I'm not 100% sure but from its current standpoint it's standing on a fairly weak leg.
If you want to keep on the pink glasses that is fine with me but a bit realism would be appropriate
It's a coproduction, great. That means that a certain part of the budget is being covered by another firm, I'm not sure how many percent they're covering though. Could be 50% more or merely 20%.
Being a period drama the costumes and sets are going to be a tad more expensive than average costumes and sets are going to be. Welcome to the world of filmmaking, if it pays off it's worth it.
But in the very end neither you or me are 100% informed about the production. All I can tell you from my experience is that putting up a period piece for film or theatre is inevitably going to be a lot more money and time consuming. If it doesen't pay off for the network it's going to be a casualty.
I've given up the show after episode 3 so I can't tell you how much effort they're putting into it. But be assured: if they constantly add more actors, locations, costumes and are throwing giant balls this isn't going to make it to season 3
I'm as worried for the Originals (only that I care about that show as a fan) and the only thing this show has going for itself is a rating advantage (yet a weaker time slot next season) and the limited location scouting process.
I hope for your sake that the show stays on but objectively it's going to be a casualty next season if it doesen't push its game rating wise.
Renewed- Arrow, TVD, TO, and The Flash definitely. Arrow is signed on for 6 seasons, and i think that's a pretty good run. TVD. i wouldn't mind it ended now, having season 6 be the last season, but i can also see it getting a season 7. TO will they have a season 3? Most likely. and The Flash, well that's a no brainer.
ReplyDeleteCancelled- JTV. the title along screams cancelation. BATB, possibly SPN. (i seriously see season 10 being the last). And everything else. lol i could be wrong, but my bet is definitely on those 3.
"The CW" might be forced to cancel Reign if it dips more if the head of Tribune gets a seat at the bargaining table; the affiliates don't make ad money on shows that only get 0.2-0.4 in A18-49 and I doubt they earn a penny on The CW's deal with Netflix. I really like Reign, too, but we'll see how much Pedowitz supports the show in S2 if it gets 0.5's to 0.3's (I hope it doesn't).
ReplyDeleteThe 'new CW syndication thing' seems to be if a 'standard show of 22+ episodes' is renewed for S2 it's practically guaranteed a S3 and 4 even if short subsequent seasons regardless of how much the ratings fall.
where did you get the info that arrow will have 6 season?
ReplyDeletejulie said that in the post finale interviews, check on this website.the trio haven't refused for season 7 anywhere,i never said that!
ReplyDeleteReign had a 0.4 for it's season finale with TVD's season finale as Lead-In (0.8)
ReplyDeleteThe 100 had a 0.6 for a regular episode (in June by the way) with an repeat of Arrow (0.4)
And losing half it's audience is not problem for a show who is still in the network average. And by the way, maybe The 100 fell to 0.5s (only one or two times) but it gets 0.6 as a average, if we count ratings your way then The Originals also lost nearly half it's audience (1.1 - 0.6), your "way of couting" is wrong, if a show dips sometimes into low demos it's not a problem if it bounces back, sometimes they are pre-emptions, a sport-game, award-show etc.
And Euphemia is right, better worry about Jane The Virgin, Beauty and the Beast and The Messengers, if only two of them make enough money to get renewed CW can cancel Reign without fearing CBS (it's not like I want them to cancel it, I watch it too). And if The 100 can hold it's ratings, then CBS AND WB will push for renewal, making it an certain renewal.
The 100 is still in the network average, without an lead-in and it is constant, it has only 13 episodes so it is easier for viewers to catch up (compared to 22 episodes), it MAY get better ratings in the fall (or collapse [unlikely])
PS: The 100 only had one love triangle for like 5min and they ended it within a few episodes, Fans (shipper) want two characters together but even the producer SAID NO (you can read here on spoilerTV), he also said that they only put that love-triangle because of CW and now that is gone they don't plan to make a new one and don't want to "make fan-service" and give the shippers what they want, they want to concentrate on the main-plot so your argument that people will stop watching because of "love triangles" is wrong, since they are no triangles.
There's no point in arguing with you because you are incredible biased and denying the facts. Also The 100 hit a 0.5 ONCE and it got a 0.6 in the finals in June and with no lead in. Half of 0.9 would be a 0.45 which The 100 NEVER got so what you are saying it's completely false.
ReplyDeleteReign only got VD as a repeat ONCE and all the last episodes that aired with originals as a lead in got multiple 0.4s.
Also I don't understand why you hate The 100 so much. Ask TTP fans what happened to their show when they started rooting against The 100 ;)
Nikita got syndicated on Pivot? Or is that something that is still up in the air?
ReplyDeleteThis will be the 10th season of Supernatural though. They need to end it at some point, it can't just keep going on forever and I think they've sort of run out of ideas at this point. It was originally written to last 5 seasons but they decided to keep going.
ReplyDeleteTVD has gone downhill a lot. I know a lot of people thought that getting rid of The Originals would fix the show and were hoping for it to be as good as it was in the first two seasons but Season 5 was all over the place and IMO was worse than Season 4. The Originals also had enormous potential which they managed to squander and the show lost a million viewers over the course of the first season - the second season may lose even more.
They are. Paul just seems to be so over the show at this point that I can't really see him continuing. Nina & Ian also seem to be pretty over it at his point but they're not quite as vocal about it. All three of them seem to sick to death of the never-ending love triangle and lack of character development.
ReplyDeleteThe Flash: Most likely to be renewed. There's so much hype on this show. I think it will reflect on the ratings. Unless the story goes bad, I think it will stick long enough to be a fan-favorite like Arrow.
ReplyDeleteArrow: Most likely to be renewed. It's a given, obviously.
Supernatural: Most likely to be renewed. I'm sure it will stick around for more years, unless the actors decided to let go already of the show.
The Originals: Could go either way. Putting it on Monday schedule puts the show in risks. I'm just hoping that fans are so loyal to watch it on a different schedule. If it does, it could be a hit show on Mondays, despite the massive competitions.
The 100: Most likely to be renewed. It showed promising ratings on summer. I think it will do well on fall, especially with Arrow as the lead-in.
The Vampire Diaries: Most likely to be renewed. Despite the not-so-good writing for the recent seasons, the show remained a hit. Unless the actors decided to call it quits, I don't think the show will bite the dust anytime soon.
Reign: Could go either way. Giving a Vampire Diaries lead-in didn't help the show. The writers should give something "explosive" on the second season for the fans to stick to. And besides, the network loves the show. We can't predict its longevity.
The Messengers: Could go either way. There's not much hype for the show. I hope it will change once the premiere is near. Plot wise, it's a must-watch. If they stick with the show's "mythology" and walk away from the romance, this show could be a hit.
iZombie: Most likely to be renewed. One of the talked-about upcoming show on The CW, the premise promises something like how Veronica Mars lived up to its name. I hope it doesn't stay on the procedural side or it'll end up dead forever.
Beauty and the Beast: Could go either way. If it'll considered as a summer show, I don't think the show will go anytime soon. Maybe 13-episode seasons are on the way, or a final season is on the works. No one knows, The CW is unpredictable.
Jane the Virgin: Most likely to be cancelled. Despite the funny premise and premiere, fans had a bad "first impression" on the show. I don't think it will last any longer once it aired. It'll be a huge surprise if this becomes the next Hart of Dixie.
Hart of Dixie: Most likely to be cancelled. Final season, perhaps?
Good observation about Reign. I hope that's true, can't wait for the new season. But I still hope hey move Reign, my Thursdays are to busy. ;-)
ReplyDeleteAnd with VD it's the same thing like with OTH Paul, Ian and Nina want to move on and do something new, especially Paul and Nina, according to rumors of course. Their contracts are up after this season so there will be some major negotiating if the ratings are solid.
It was originally written to last 5 seasons but they decided to keep going.
ReplyDeleteThe '5 year plan' was a hooey no matter what Kripke kept saying after he existed the show. On the Season 1 DVDs - I think it was the section one had to put in one's computer to access - EK said he had about 6 to 7 seven seasons worth of folklore/urban legends 'to mine'. And in an interview he gave to the Supernatural Magazine that came out after the premiere of S4 - which got almost 4 million "Nielsen Viewers' - he said his plan WAS to end the show after the fourth season because he was tired of SPN sweating out renewals every year. Because of the high rating for the S4 premiere he altered his plans and decided to shoot for 5 seasons in case SPN was renewed for S5.
The 100 0.9, 0.7,0.6,0.5 The 100 went from 0.9 to 0.5 in four episodes.
ReplyDeleteThe previous two new episodes got 0.6 without a new Arrow episode as a lead-in.
It being the tenth season doesn't mean anything. Jeremy Carver has already mentioned how he's tweaking his 3-year arc towards something that can be expanded to future seasons as well as Jensen and Jared mentioning they felt refreshed after the last season and would gladly do more. If the stories continues, I have no doubt Supernatural will continue for as long as they want, and I could see the series last at least until season 12.
ReplyDeleteAlso, SPN was originally intended to last, really, only three seasons, but Kripke added two extra seasons to get into that famous Apocalypse arc. It's not totally out of reason for Carver to add extra seasons as well.
I don't watch The Originals or The Vampire Diaries, but I've still heard a lot from the shows' fans and won't be surprised if they continue as well. With The CW, it's also about the ratings compared to other shows as much as quality, so while I don't watch them, I don't see how those two could be cancelled next season.
Stephen said it in an interview.

ReplyDeleteexcept TTP did not have near the social media and fan base that BATB does since the show has started it has won two people choice awards one for the show and one for lead actress Kristen Kruek all fan voted and she is up again this year the TTP while good did not resonate with as many people and I don't think that CBS forced them to renew BATB Pedowitz was right it has a better upside potential for example fan base is stronger and the ratings in international markets are better than the US plus the live+7 data with streaming and downloading always doubled the live viewing and TTP didn't do that also wasn't the TTP up for a peoples choice and not win I'm not sure on that so don't quote me people wanted TTP to do well but once they took Amell wednesday's away the ratings declined the 100 held onto its numbers and grew off of what the TTP put out plus a few more shortened season or even just summer seasons of BATB and it will be a solid contender for syndication plus TTP was expensive to produce and BATB cut back on costs by not doing table reads and long rehearsal times so it was most likely cost and fan base that BATB was renewed off of
