Harry Hamlin and Rachel Nichols will recur on the hourlong series starring British actor Tom Ellis, The Hollywood Reporter has learned. Victoria Smurfit (Dracula) and Jesse Luken (Justified) also will guest-star.
Rush, the latest scripted offering in USA's move to edgier fare, centers on Dr. William Rush (Ellis), a hard-partying “medical fixer” who privately caters to L.A.’s elite and oftentimes less-than-squeaky clients. But his services come with a hefty price tag.
Hamlin, who recurred on Mad Men, has been cast as Rush's estranged father, Warren, a retired doctor who has been a controlling, domineering and judgmental presence in his son's life. Warren has since remarried and started a new family, but the old dynamics that drove him and Rush apart remain intact.
Nichols will play Warren's much younger "trophy wife," Corrine Rush -- pretty, attentive and supportive, she is everything you want in a spouse. Though she appears to have it all together, she's hiding her own demons beneath the facade: She thinks the life she has is what she wants, but in truth, she's yearning for something more.
