Get a first look inside Marvel's original graphic novel, Revenge: The Secret Origin of Emily Thorne available digitally and in print on September 3, 2014.
Marvel wanted to make sure the comic's story was closely tied to the show, so the all-new adventure in the comic is canon and the graphic novel will flesh out an early part of the vengeful history of Emily Thorne (or, Amanda Clarke, as she was known back then) that has never been revealed on TV. Just as the recently returned David Clarke will be reconnecting and learning more about his daughter in Season 4, readers will be able to fill in the gaps in Emily's origin as her backstory unfolds in a never-before-told action-adventure set in Geneva, Switzerland.

But why? The first season was great but the rest medicore so who will read it? It could have been a good move after or during the first season though.

ReplyDeleteThe ratings at the end of season 3 were getting close to CW fall numbers so they probably know the show hasn't got long left. This lets them tell a story they probably wont get to tell in show that they probably had planned.

While no hit, 1.3 - 1.4 is not close to CW numbers. It was winning its demo weekly and doing good at a time slot which has failed to produce any hits.
ReplyDeleteThis book has nothing to do with how season 2 and 3. Its about what went on that made emily throne.the way she heck I will read it. I'm pretty sure a lot of other people will cause it will probably make the show seem less confusing
ReplyDeleteGet real, the ratings might of been low but they were no where near cw levels. Not to mention ABC moved it to a very bad timeslot that got every show that came on in this timeslot canceled. So compared to other shows in that timeslot revenge is actually doing pretty good.

Revenge is beginning to hit around their high points. For any non-CW Show, that's not a good thing. It'll be in danger next year (especially if the ratings keep dropping).
Syndication Gods demand season 4 since Revenge passed 65 episodes. It was guaranteed regardless of how low it dipped. A 5th season with these ratings however is questionable at best.
ReplyDeleteEvery season there's at least one show that people will assume will get renewed because it's so close to syndication but it doesn't. I don't think that's the case at all. If it had gotten true CW numbers it would have been canceled. The lowest rated episode of this past season was 4.98 million viewers, the demo was a 1.3... the only show's The CW has that get those types of numbers are Arrow and The Vampire Diaries, and The Vampire Diaries this past year was usually around a .9 or 1.0 so it's safe to assume season 6 will continue the trend. But if Revenge starts pulling a .9 I would highly doubt ABC would renew it beyond next season, syndication or no.
ReplyDeleteEven if Revenge hit a .9 this season, it would've still been renewed for a shortened 4th season. They wont miss pushing the show as close to 88 as possible after the 65 episode mark. They make more money by selling shows into syndication then they do having a show with a high demo running.
ReplyDeleteArrow/TVD/SPN/The Originals all had high points near Revenge's low point. It's unfortunate, but Revenge is dropping to the point where it's getting questionable. TVD's fall numbers were almost always at a 1.1-1.3 too (It only hit a 1.0 or less 3 times in the fall). Revenge's Spring numbers are starting to close in on that. When any show starts teetering around the CW fall numbers (even with Spring numbers) its...a bit of a concern.
I could see Revenge potentially getting a shortened 5th season to tie up any loose ends if it stays above a 1.0, (plus pushing it over 100 episodes wont hurt). But if the numbers don't go back up then I think a full 5th season or a 6th are really questionable.
Revenge got a 1.4 for the finale.

You concentrate so much on the fall why don't you concentrate on the Spring. Revenge ended with an average 1.6 season demo. Not close to CW numbers.

Well your opinion is not my problem either, its worthless to me.
ReplyDeleteBecause when any broadcast show nears CW fall numbers (whether they hit it in the fall or the spring), it's a bad sign. When a broadcast show hits CW spring numbers it shouldn't even be on the air (like Glee, but Fox screwed themselves over with that).
ReplyDeleteRevenge ended it's season just above the CW fall numbers. Not a good sign for future seasons. This season alone it only just made the SpoilerTV Cancellation safe list (Although it was a sure thing for syndication). Next season it'll end up on the chopping block unless it gets an influx of new viewers.
I just hope they get to end it how they want to end it rather then having the plug pulled out midway. I hate seeing/hearing about shows that get cancelled like that.
Don't forget, revenge has a HUGE international fanbase. Just because the ratings are low (in the US atleast) doesn't mean this comic will flop. Some fans of the show might not watch it on TV because of the advertisements and wait until it pops up online or the DVD comes out. I live in Australia and over here it is one of the top shows, it was even the most watched drama on TV over here for a while, out of ALL the other dramas. I think it's still the number one US drama, or very close to it at least. I've heard it also does very well in other countries, though I'm not entirely sure. ABC has built up a whole Revenge empire, they've even made a friggin' clothing line based on the show, and just because it's lost ratings doesn't mean it's lost fans, if anything it's probably gained them.

Though, this is another example of the unseriousity of the creative team behind this show, they don't seem to have anything lined out after the acutal episode they're working on, they seem to forget sand abandon storylines, and they don't even seem sure (still, after three seasons) about how the tone and style of the show is supposed to be, is it a soap opera? Is it a conspiracy thriller? SHould you hate the Graysons? or should you see tham as humans?
ReplyDeleteAnd this series, just look at it, as I said the artwork is beautiful, but it does not at all resembles the look on the show, the characters look completely different than from the show, and I would not be surprised if it does not really att all follow the storyline of the show.
ABC is ruining Revenge.

Sunday at 10 is suicide for a show. They already know it's not that strong anymore, why would they push it further into suicide?
I never see promos for revenge during the week on TV. It's always Marvel agents of shield, greys anatomy, scandal and modern family.
But Revenge was guarenteed a 4th season, due to syndication and due because it's so popular overseas.
But now Sunil is saying he wants more than 4 seasons. Like much more. Which would be a mistake. There's only so much time before the plot gets really old and repeated, and only so much time until one side just straight up kills each other.
