Love the beginning when Stiles said what make you think we are alone and show Malia Kira and Scott with their eyes glowing Love Malia and Kira dancing Malia and Stiles are so cute funny seeing Malia trying o be human and being overly honest What! A young Derek oh how I miss this show
I was a little nervous to see how the show will move on without Crystal Reed but they have far exceeded my expectations tonight. Awesome premiere!
I am already loving the new addition of Malia to the pack. She fits perfectly with them and I love that she's very snarky, just like her father.
I absolutely loved Malia and Kira dancing at the rave and I wouldn't mind seeing that again haha.
Nice to see Braeden and her badass motorcycle again. I really hope she has more scenes this season.
Holy shit at a young Derek coming out of the tomb. I was not expecting that at all. Why and how in the hell did Kate manage to do that?! I can't wait to find out.
Brilliantly done. I still love the chemistry between Stiles and Lydia, the entire opening scene was perfect because of them. However I was pleasantly surprised that Malia and Kira had a lot of chemistry too in a different way. Obviously there was the dance but they also seem to be opposites in a way with Malia being blunt and disconnected and Kira being sensitive and emotional. I feel like they can strike up a strong friendship/rivalry thing. I was a bit miffed that there wasn't a lot of Scott/Stiles friendship this ep but I'm sure they'll be plenty in the future. Also upset that Tyler Hoechlin's beautiful face probably won't be on my screen for a little while longer.
Moving on from the characters I really liked how they kinda just threw us into the story this time. In previous seasons nothing really changed in the off season but this has been a full two months later and we really don't know what happened in that time, we just see the result. I'm happy they took care of the Mexico storyline immediately cause I want to get back to the Beacon Hills High centered drama that started this show off.
I feel a little bad to say this but I didn't even really notice the lack of Allison, I feel like Malia and Kira have taken the place of her beautifully. That's not to say i don't miss her a lot, but it's good the show has continued to do well without her
I think Shelley is going be a good addition to the cast, I love her so far. I am curious now what they will do with a de-aged derek (may I add "cutie!"). Interested to see what Kate also might "be" instead of a wolf.
Loved it. From the reveal of Scott, Kira and Malia in the club with their eyes flashing; to Kira and Malia dance (which was pretty damn hot); to Scott showing his Alpha side and breaking the chains despite the electric current; to Stiles and Lydia banter which is just plain hilarious; to Malia's perfectly played bluntness regarding her thoughts on leaving people behind and survival tendencies; to Stiles constant it's an improvement line; to the Stiles and Malia interactions and how they show her vulnerability and care for Stiles; to the adorable Kira and Scott stuff; all the fight scenes; the way they revealed how Kate turned into a Were-jaguar; the Stiles and Scott bromantic moments; the Braedan reveal and of course the Derek is a kid thing. So I pretty much loved all of it. I know a lot of people were worried about Alison and Isaac's (particularly Allison's) absences but I gotta say I think the show is going to go strong without them based on this episode. Same with Malia, I thought she was great here and I think she'll only get better.
Barely had Derek in it and when he finally did get rescued, it wasn't even Hoechlin. Sad. Not looking forward to the weird sad Kira Scott drama. Stiles mentoring Malia is strange. Looks like it'll probably be my last season for TW.
First half of the episode I was disappointed again. - not predicting Wolfsbane from hunters - what happened to taking out whoever comes in tru the door... ( Girls stand right next to door Stiles bait in the middle, girls take out the 2 with the guns, the tazer dude looks back, Scott Knocks him out...) Even if it was part of some test to show what kind of Alpha Scott was or to question him about who took Derek, it fails when he breaks free after intense pain, which as a Alpha he should be able to control the release of his strength when he wants rather then just during realizations or pain triggers. He should spend some time training himself also while training Malia. just sayin... Oh and that Treat by Grandma Hunter, Please, If in this supernatural world, Scott doesn't turn anyone eventually that it self would be odd, it doesn't have to be a forced turn, someone could be willing, or someone could be saved. - Basically the Power balance is still off.
Besides that everyone was great. All the character scenes were awesome. Liked the scene at the start with Kira and Malia, And Lydia and Scott at the start. But their Plan was Bad just like Lydia said. Loved the Car scene I liked how the new pact members Malia and Kira inquired about Kate.
"Sometimes the shape you take reflects the person you are" Scott, What he said makes since in many mythology so that I basically the answer I expected out of a Blue Kate last season.
Lol at the end, Who? Is it Young Derek? if so they changed Actor from the Flashback. Also big shocker was, Kira still isn't Scott's girlfriend. damn.
That was a great season opener. Does anybody have any theories on how/why Derek is younger?? I can't think of anything and i'm kinda curious if somebody has some kind of idea what happened.
I think, based on the promos, Kate is using him and he only remembers her since he's young and not his friends, maybe she'll use him to hurt the others and then gain his trust before destroying him, not entirely sure though.
I loved how this episode kept me a little off balance. I never could quite figure out what Araya was going to do. That whole clan reads like a drug cartel and I never felt like I knew what they were going to do next. What was Araya's conclusion about what kind of alpha Scott is? I figure we're suppose to consider it a positive result since Scott left the place alive. :-D But the way she said that she 'knows what kind of alpha you are' left me unsure of how she really felt about what she'd determined. Love her.
Malia's proving to be quite fun.
Question: Why doesn't Scott have werewolf night vision. Hasn't he in the past? Didn't Peter and Derek? Or am I attributing a quality from another werewolf mythology?
So, what was Kate's plan when she put Derek in the magic room? Any thoughts? I don't think we'll get the full answer until several eps into the season...but theories are always fun...and I'm feeling gloriously clueless.
Awesome ep! I've been looking so forward to this and I am definitely satisfied.
Excellent premiere. Why do I forgive this show for supreme cheesiness though when I can't handle it in other shows? Cuz that opening scene was cheesy as hell. But it was also amazing and totally got me pumped for the episode. (This show reminds me of Buffy in that way.) Loved the Mexican setting, Malia was great, the action was awesome and these beserkers seem pretty awesome and creepy.De-aged Derek is weird, but I found him charming in Visionary so I shall keep an open mind.
Enjoyable episode, but I really hope that, this season, they finally follow through on those hints that they have been dropping about Beacon Hills' past (i.e., backstory of the Hale Family). I'm not a shipper, by nature. In order for me to really enjoy a fantasy show, I need it to have a well-developed mythology. Maybe "teen Derek" is a step in that direction?
Boring until the end !! I have been a huge stiles and Lydia shippers !!! But that was before this episode !! Malia and stiles are just perfect ! I think the interaction between the two of them will be hilarious :) I didn't expect this plot with young dereck ! Well I can say it got all of us by surprise !
Yeah I saw the shot, that is pretty ambiguous. Particularly given how Malia consistently throughout the episode (and about five seconds later) says she would leave other Team Wolf (or whatever their gang is called, Scott's Pack, etc.) members to survive except Stiles. It could just mean she doesn't like that Malia would abandon everyone but Stiles. Could it be jealousy? Possibly, but given Jeff Davis distinct and well-known dislike and often times subversion of love triangles, as well as Lydia's lack of romantic feelings for Stiles so far, I'm inclined to believe otherwise.
I've always loved how this show mixes it up with mythology. Reptile boys, demon ninjas, Fox spirits (Naruto!). I wished we saw some more of that grey hulk looking thing from the promos. Really like Malia and her scenes with Styles.
Honestly?! Too much too soon, in my opinion. It almost felt like a penultimate episode, not a season opener. I needed a slower episode to adjust. I loved it nonetheless, it was a typical fast-packed episode and I really enjoyed it, I was just expecting something radically different.
Thought the same, I was like: " wow, what's going on? did i miss ep zero of the season? they are quite tight team already? what about the end of the previouse season? where is the grief and stuff like that? kind of rushed..." Wasn't expecting young version of D either, good turn though!
This was a great season opener. Stiles is the best with the line "What makes you think we came alone?" I can see this is going to be a great season. I'm excited to see what exactly Kate is, it does seem she is something else. How the heck does she de-age Derek? We will just have to watch the season unfold.
That's what I was saying with my post. Scott has used night vision before, the writers just ignore established mythology to give the characters a challenge.
The weakness of their plan to rescue Derek didn't really bother me that much because they've never been geniuses at this kind of thing.
Regarding Scott getting some training while he was training Malia...Derek (not a great tactical genius either :-) was supposed to help him with that. I didn't see the electrocution sequence as being about controlling the release of his strength but about his being able to access it all. Electricity keeps werewolves from turning at all, right?
We know that this season is starting 2 months after the end of last season but I"m unclear on how long, in calendar time, season 3b was. I usually count the full moons, but it seemed like once things got rolling the end of 3b was a few days and not months. Do you have a feel for that?
It was a pretty standard Teen Wolf episode right until the end... WTF?!?!?! I love Hoechlin as Derek, so seeing the actor that played the younger version of him made me mad. But I'm glad we have more Kira, Braeden and Lydia, loved them. I hate Stiles so I don't care about him and Malia tbh.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
Whoa! De-aged Derek was not something I ever expected. Also, a trope I really love in fic is actually canon which I didn't expect.
ReplyDeleteLove Malia and ship Malia/Kira a little. Oops. But they clearly want us to so I'm here for that.
Great premiere!
So
ReplyDeleteSo many great scenes though,
ReplyDeleteLove the beginning when Stiles said what make you think we are alone and show Malia Kira and Scott with their eyes glowing Love Malia and Kira dancing Malia and Stiles are so cute funny seeing Malia trying o be human and being overly honest What! A young Derek oh how I miss this show
ReplyDeleteI give it a day before a ship name is made for Malia and Kira if they don't have one already.
ReplyDeletehow bout 10 minutes.
ReplyDeleteMira.

8.5/10 for the ep.
Malira!

ReplyDeleteLydia so jealous of Malia and Stiles :)
ReplyDeleteI'm pretty sure she wasn't.
ReplyDeleteThat's a shame.

ReplyDeleteOk I believe I understand now after watching the promo, thank you. I really like your tumblr page too by the way.
ReplyDeleteThanks. That's a really cool development to see Derek mentally regress to his time with Kate and how it will could put him in conflict with Scott.
ReplyDeleteNo problem, thanks :)
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome, yeah I think it's going to be really interesting and fun.
ReplyDeleteBwahahahaha!!! THEY SHRANK DEREK.

ReplyDeleteI kept chuckling over the guys who were drifting over to watch in the background. :-D
ReplyDeleteWe've known since the finale that she's a WereJaguar.

ReplyDeleteIn the jeep when Malia says she'd never leave Stiles, Lydia makes a face :D

ReplyDeleteI know this is gonna be really lame, but I have to say I with there was a line where Kate said," Honey I shrunk the Derek," or some variation thereof.
ReplyDeleteI've always loved how this show mixes it up with mythology. Reptile boys, demon ninjas, Fox spirits (Naruto!). I wished we saw some more of that grey hulk looking thing from the promos. Really like Malia and her scenes with Styles.

ReplyDeleteI loved it, and the rest if the season looks amazing too! :)
ReplyDeleteWeird question from what we've seen in promos and the last episode, do Berserkers look like the villain Doomsday to anyone else?
ReplyDeleteThat's what I was saying with my post.
ReplyDeleteScott has used night vision before, the writers just ignore established mythology to give the characters a challenge.
Thank you for confirming my memory.
ReplyDeleteA smack on the back of the hands of the writers for not taking advantage of that.
