really enjoyed it... got some a long suspected reveal finally ,and a good bit of forward movement in the other plots.... I am curious to see how things will go from here as the main reason that the team was brought together has been resolved, but obviously there are the other plot bits hanging out there that are still moving forward....
I was a little confused about how quickly Sir Malcolm turned on his daughter, but other than that, the episode was great. I know a few people saw it coming that Ethan is a werewolf. One issue I'm having is the contradiction about exactly who or what possessed Vanessa. I'm not sure if I like where the story is going concerning her gift.
We might not have to wait an entire year. As far as I know, Showtime rotates its shows every few months. It's HBO that makes people wait a year to see another season of shows that only have half the number of episodes that they should.
I'm disappointed, Ethan-werewolf looked really so-so...I thought he would be huge beast, and they gave us a werewolf from a wolfman movie...It seems he can control his transformation to some degree and that he is conscious what he is doing when he is not a human, so why did he killed thad woman in a park and that guy who lit the lamps?
It made sense to me, good sense. Sir Malcolms troubles was trying to rescue his daughter from a monster, not knowing what he would if she had become the monster, for a few episodes now, we got a good feeling that he already had a daughter with him he could save and he chose Vanessa, which was right in that moment in time. In this world right now where a monster is a monster who knows if you could of saved her if she had turned, which we know she did. Why risk your 2nd daughter too.
The rest of the characters stories progressed to in the direction right or expected directions too. Vanessa battled her demons, had a slip up, but thanks to friends she managed to recover, but now she has a choice to make! Victor in the end took responsibility for his actions and I guess based on what we saw we can say he accepted Caliban, his creation now. Dorian Grey - the "Sex Demon" - after all his life of everything he finally found something he can't have. Brona - who up to this point wasn't really living but suffering, can now finally live, maybe she will she her knew painless life in a way as a gift post her suffering, but who knows. Ethan - has been running from something, and we learn the expected that he can't run from it he has to accept it, but S2 will tell if he has accepted it or not, as its is still far from clear if he has control of his wolf form yet. Maybe the Full moon gives him control, but what about the other moons. - also I am not disappointed with his looks I accept all mythology, I have seen my fair share of full wolf transformation, bi ped beast wolf transformation, now it is interesting to get more of the other type Wolfman transformation.
Looking forward to S2. I personally really liked slow paced serial telling of the story.
Caliban, Brona and that final escene with Vanessa... *bow to them* . Tho Brona only pretty much just died but damn that was sad and i never thought Viktor will be the one who "kills" her. Caliban and his speeches stole the episode, and Vanessa "do you really want to be normal?" never more an accurate question has been made. Ethan's wolf form is finally kind of reveal, we only saw the face we havent actually seen the "beast". Mr. Malcolm finally uinderstood that sometimes you just cant save someone you love, it is hard but he got it, he wanted to save her cause he couldnt save his son those years back and he didnt want to fail this time, he didnt want to feel that kind of pain again. Season 2 is so full of questions it's so freacking unfair we have to wait like 8 months for the next season.
Season 1 of "The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen" was great.............wait........that's the movie with Sean Connery (who played James Bond), not Penny Dreadful with Timothy Dalton (who also played James Bond)! Great episode, but it didn't feel like a season finale though (No Spoilers). More episodes for next season. "And now our watch begins for season 2"..............no wait that's the series with Thrones, Dragons, and Games...............my bad! 4 A PENNY FULL OF DREAD, I will remain Nobody!!!
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
I liked very much, but I was expecting more, more action, explanations, and less Caliban.

ReplyDeleteI can't believe we have to wait a whole year for season 2. I loved season 1 and I am going to miss Ms Ives.
