  1. I guess when the men took courage from their vows to kill the giant is what gets my vote but I am really saddened that the actual fight took place offscreen. I liked the ep, don't get me wrong, but I didn't feel any scene pop out majorly more then the rest like I tend to get from the other ones. But I did like it!

  2. I don't even remember right now half the things I saw. Gotta watch it again. For now, Jon stepping off the cage to join the battle and everything that followed. Also, I couldn't not mention one of my favorite bad****. Tormund battling through the men of the watch and schooling Thorne, was great.

  3. The recital of the oath scene for me too. It was done well.

  4. Jon killing the big cannibal dude, whatever his name is, out of nowhere. I let out a "oh, sh**!" when he rammed that tool in his head.

  5. Loved Sam finding the loop hole and his kissing Gilley. It's too bad the fight happened off screen but I also vote for the aftermath when Jon and Sam acknowledge that they held the gate.

  6. a lot of good bits during the battle, but the toppers for me are: Grenn and his men reciting their oath to draw courage, and Jon taking command

  7. I actually love all the scenes from this episode :)

  8. The fights scenes with Jon, so well done and Grenn and the others taking courage by their vowes, I even cried during that scene it was very powerful!

  9. My favorite part was the long battle sequence, its a crane shot that goes all the way around Castle Black (without cuts), following part of the battle and linking all the characters together. The "choreography" must be perfectly executed by everyone.

Long one shot camera sequence are very hard to make and director Neil Marshall did it masterfully!

  10. Is it sad that I just love the giant mammoth?

No, but in all seriousness, I guess It would be Jon coming down and joining the fight! I also really enjoyed seeing Aemon sharing a moment with Sam and the "Love is the Death of Duty" mantra!
Also liked how Jon and Ygritte's final moments and clash was filmed (even if it was Titanic cheesy). It touched me.

  12. As much as I disliked her and didn't care about her death, the shot was beautifully directed and acted. Very high quality episode, as usual!

  13. The moment when one of the giants lost his temper as a result of his, eem, ' friend's ' death :D

  15. Jon taking command is surely a key scene for the entire series. I remembered about Tywin and Tommen talking about what a good king is...

Jon doesn't just serve the people selfless. He also can give hope.

  16. Marshall "connecting the dots" with the Giant flinging the arrow, the arrow impaling the guy on the wall, the guy falling to the ground amidst the battle there.

  17. That would be my original choice, cause it sure is a key scene like you said. A certain awesome quote though was missing. It signifies the importance of Jon as a Stark in the upcoming events. I did like Aemon's and Sam's conversation and I see the point. But the Maester should have had a chat with Jon. Instead we got Alliser thorne handing the command over to Janos Slynt (what a joke) and him leaving his post, thus Jon assuming command. Those 2 were nowhere near when the battle happened. The wall only stood when they arrived after all the **** went down because of Donal Noye and Jon snow. They even throw him in jail and accused of oathbreaking and treason despite his efforts and leadership skills were what held Mance's forces back.

  18. Favorite line this week goes to an unlikely character for me. Alliser told John about what it's like to be a leader. He told him you get every decision yo make second guessed by every "tw... with a mouth". A moment of levity in an otherwise grim situation.

The big anchor that they swung across the face of the wall was pretty impressive.

  19. The men Holding the gate.

  20. I loved that too! So glad you added it here - was really the next scene on my list...

  24. That was sooo close to making the list!

  25. Tough call. It was a good episode, but no one scene really leapt out at me. Maybe if I was going to pick one not here, it'd be "Mammoth ass catches fire"!

  26. I commented on that shot while watching the episode. Masterful!

  27. Ghost (for a very brief second), Jon taking charge, Jon/Ygritte and Sam saying that he is not nothing anymore.
