“NCIS” IS THE MOST-WATCHED DRAMA IN THE WORLD
CBS’s Global Hit Series Receives International TV Audience Award at Monte-Carlo Television Festival
MONTE-CARLO, Monaco – June 11, 2014 – NCIS, the #1 drama on U.S. television for five consecutive seasons*, is now the most-watched drama in the world. On June 11, 2014, CBS’s global hit series received the prestigious International Television Audience Award for a Drama TV Series at the 54th Monte-Carlo Television Festival. NCIS is distributed worldwide by CBS Studios International.
The annual International Audience Award is presented jointly by the Monte-Carlo Television Festival and Eurodata TV Worldwide to reward programs who delivered the highest ratings** worldwide in 2013 across five continents in three categories: Drama TV Series, Comedy TV Series and Telenovelas/Soap Operas.
International Audience Award nominees were pre-selected among the 15 top imported fiction programs in 66 countries, representing nearly 3 billion potential viewers. NCIS garnered more than 57.6 million viewers worldwide in 2013.
NCIS star and Executive Producer Mark Harmon and Executive Producer Gary Glasberg commented, “As NCIS enters its 12th season, we couldn’t be happier to learn we’re now the #1 drama in the world. It’s no secret that determination and teamwork have allowed our cast and crew to continue to deliver a show we’re truly proud of. We also know we wouldn’t be here without the support and loyalty of the best fans in television. Thanks to our worldwide audience for helping us start the new season off right.”
Having recently completed its 11th season in the United States, NCIS (Naval Criminal Investigative Service) is more than just an action drama. With liberal doses of humor, it focuses on the sometimes complex and always amusing dynamics of a team forced to work together in high-stress situations to investigate all crimes with Navy or Marine Corps ties. The series stars Mark Harmon, Michael Weatherly, Sean Murray, Pauley Perrette, Rocky Carroll, Brian Dietzen, Emily Wickersham and David McCallum, with Executive Producers Gary Glasberg, Chas. Floyd Johnson, Mark Horowitz, Mark Harmon, Frank Cardea, George Schenck, Steven D. Binder, Scott Williams, Shane Brennan and Donald P. Bellisario. NCIS is produced by Belisarius Productions in association with CBS Television Studios.

Not really surprising. Nice though.
ReplyDeleteI should watch it... but I kinda want Blu-ray releases to catch up. I hate DVD quality on my awesome TV. Is this series destined for DVD-only? :P
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to CBS and NCIS, though!
Woah, this is really cool! Congrats to the cast & crew!
ReplyDeleteI honestly thought it was already
ReplyDeleteGross.
ReplyDeleteI think up until a few years ago it was CSI
ReplyDeleteThe only people I know who watch it are my parents and their friends.
ReplyDeletenot surprising......it may be a while until another show beat NCIS for viewers
ReplyDeleteYay, very nice! Congrats to all the cast and crew!
ReplyDeleteMeh...
ReplyDeleteAll the grandparents be watchin'
ReplyDeleteCongrats! Season 10 of NCIS was the best ever! Credit has to go to Cote de Pablo and Michael Weatherly for giving amazing performances all of that season.
ReplyDeleteOne some level this saddens me as there are many better dramas than this show (imo of course).
ReplyDeleteI don't get the appeal and I never will.
ReplyDeleteNCIS is the best show on TV no other show beats it ever
ReplyDeleteI'd like to know where Game of Thrones fits in.
ReplyDeleteI'd also like to point out that this is getting only than half the numbers that both Lost and Desperate Housewives got worldwide during their runs, both of those had over 100 million worldwide viewers. I take small comfort in that as both of those were miles better than this crap.
ReplyDeleteLol
ReplyDeleteThat's a huge joke. It's good, but come on
ReplyDeleteThe Mentalist won it last year and CSI before that....
ReplyDeleteBut we already knew that!
ReplyDeleteThe Monte Carlo festival honored one of the best seasons of NCIS ever: Season 10 with the A-team including Ziva! Congratulations to cast and crew of season 10 and special thanks to Michael Weatherly and Cote de Pablo who made the year of TIVA truly special and very successful!
ReplyDeleteWell yeah, duh! But it won't be for too long. Don't get too happy about it. The ONLY reason why that happened this year was because most countries were still airing seasons 8/9/10 and not that sh*tty season 11.

ReplyDeleteMust not know many people. I have several friends in the 20s/30s that regularly watch it, and it's my personal favorite drama (and I'm 30).
ReplyDeleteSame here. A lot of people joke about CBS being an "old person's network", but I know tons of young people who watch it. I'm 29 and I watch a couple things on that channel.
ReplyDeletePeople don't lie when they say the world is full of disgrace.
ReplyDeleteThis will last as long as Law & Order, no question
ReplyDeleteWell I can think of about 12-14 people off the top of my head that watch it (myself included) and they are all under 60 maybe with the exception of 1 or 2.
ReplyDeleteThe funny part is this is one of the only shows I don't watch (and have no intention of ever watching).
ReplyDeleteAnd yet I have never watched a single episode.
ReplyDeleteNo wonder. Here in Bulgaria, we have at least 3-4 networks that are showing constantly NCIS and NCIS LA, over and over again. I think i have saw every season (except the newest) at least 5-6 times or even more.
ReplyDeleteyeaa! This is truly amazing show!!Love it
ReplyDeleteI'm with you. I have a few co-workers who watch but I don't personally have any friends who watch. I've seen a few episodes here and there but it doesn't really interest me.
ReplyDeleteidk am i the only one that thnk NCIS doesnt deserve all of THIS credit? yes good show bt cmon, there are lots better shows out there,
ReplyDeleteNo where in the article does it say it's the best show. It's simply the most watched.
ReplyDeleteExactly is the most watched it still means something(best is subjective), i just don't get why people keep tuning in, since to me is basically every episode is the same, and you can guess the guilty part easily. I want to make clear that im just curious of why people KEEP watching it. I think the fact that people watch it doesn't push the writers to write better, it just pushes them to write the same thing over and over...
ReplyDeleteExactly ..
