In 2009, Dustin Diamond wrote Behind the Bell, a scandalous tell-all that revealed what life was reportedly like on the set of Saved by the Bell, NBC’s still beloved series that ran from 1989–1993 and turned its cast of fresh-faced actors into megastars.
Diamond wrote that everyone in the cast, except him, was sleeping together (including threesomes!), and many were dabbling in drugs. Diamond’s memoir tipped off Hollywood to the fact there was a lot more going on behind the scenes.
Now, thanks to hours of brand-new interviews conducted for this film (obtained independently of Diamond and his book), the real story will be brought to life in The Unauthorized Saved by the Bell Story, a new Lifetime television movie that promises to change the way that fans look at the classic kids’ comedy.

ReplyDeleteoh boy if half of what he says is true he's loosing a lot of friends
ReplyDeleteI don't think I want to change the way I look at the show, it was part of my childhood!
ReplyDeleteSo I just read some summaries of the book...if the stuff about Mario Lopez is brought up (and the interviews can back it up) this could turn into a media storm. The rest don't seem to have been too crazy (the cast were doing drugs behind closed doors and sleeping with each other). Considering the ages of the cast at the time it doesn't surprise me.
ReplyDeleteMario Lopez is the one that stands to really lose from this.
I don't really know if I want to see this. I loved the show when I was younger, so I'm afraid this might ruin it a little. :S
ReplyDeleteI have no need to see a reality show version of SBTB, so I'll pass.
ReplyDeletewhat does it say? :O is it really that bad?
ReplyDeleteSupposedly he forced himself on a girl during the shows run and NBC paid her off so it never became public. After the show finished however 2 other girls accused him of forcing himself on them (the first of course hadn't been made public).

They found a contradiction in one of the girls stories but the other...nothing ever came from it because they couldn't find evidence. So if this brings that up it might put it back in the headlines. Especially if other people they interview back up the story.
