MOVIES: Snow White and the Huntsman 2 - Kristen Stewart Dropped

Jun 28, 2014

Thanks to @DylanJames18 for the heads up.

Chris Hemsworth is returning as the film's titular character, as is Charlize Theron, who played the villain. But Kristen Stewart is not coming back for an encore, as The Hollywood Reporter first reported. The actress found herself at the center of a tabloid maelstrom when compromising photos surfaced of her and Snow White and the Huntsman director Rupert Sanders (she was dating her Twilight co-star Robert Pattinson at the time). The studio emphatically denied at the time that Stewart was exiting the franchise.

  2. Maybe now they can cast someone that can actually act.

    ReplyDelete
  3. YES cant stand her acting

    ReplyDelete
  4. Then it shouldn't be called Snow White and The Huntsman 2 if your going to make this movie without Snow White then it should be called The Huntsman then

    ReplyDelete
  5. I believe that is the case. I could've sworn several sources said that when it was announced yesterday that Frank Darabont was in the cards as a potential director. Though, that doesn't mean Snow White can't be recast.

It's not officially called Snow White and the Huntsman 2. But that's just what it's being referred to until an official name is released. It was originally meant to be a sequel, but with the Kristen Stewart scandal it's now being rewritten as more of a spin-off apparently.

  7. Stupid. She's average but not as bad as everyone says. Or I liked her into that one movie about the guy in the wilderness. And some of her earlier stuff. And I'd want her back for a sequel too so I'm disappointed, but Charlize stole the show the first time around anyway, so it will be worth seeing if she has a significant role.

Now I want to watch the movie again.

  8. Most people make fun of Kristen Stewart because everyone else makes fun of her, which is kinda sad. People make jokes that she only has one expression, but she's plenty expressive. Watch any interview, she does NOT have one expression.

Also, I find it annoying that Bella is widely acknowledged to be one of the worst written female characters in literature, but people still give Kristen crap for not acting that character well. Are you freaking serious? Do you remember some of the lines she had to contend with? People who can make a really bad role into a good one are exceedingly rare, but Kristen is given shit because she's not someone who can do that?

And her biggest roles have been an abysmally written teenage girl and a princess who spent most of her young life locked in a tower while being groped by a creepy sociopath. I mean, who WOULDN'T have a small range of emotions after that?

Unfortunately, Twilight hurt her career more than it helped, because she's being typecasted into roles that keep reinforcing the idea that she can't act. She did a pretty good job in On The Road, but no one ever talks about that.

I don't mind if people just genuinely don't like her acting, but I do mind when people insult her merely because everyone else is insulting her. People like to hate, and once they realize they get to be a part of a crowd of people who hate what they do, they'll keep hating even after it has reached a point of ridiculousness.

  9. Or maybe a significant majority of people watch her grimace and bite her lip and call it acting and disagree. Just because a lot of people agree doesn't mean they aren't thinking for themselves. Sometimes, there is one obvious opinion.

Twilight is the only career Kristen is ever going to have. Her movies are terrible and she is unwatchably bad in them.

    ReplyDelete
  10. Oh? Even without this movie she has five films (so far) coming out between now and and the end of 2015. Seven if you count the ones that don't have a release date yet.

So I'm curious...where is your proof that Twilight is the only career she'll ever have? Because so far it looks like her career is doing just fine to me.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Yes couldn't say it better myself

    ReplyDelete
  12. Oh 5 really? Well that is impressive, hopefully they'll make as big of marks as The Runaways and On the Road 'cause those were blockbusters right there. Lots of people make bad indie flicks, when I said career I meant A list, not "hey what ever happened to."

    ReplyDelete
  13. Oh so now she has to be an A-list celebrity to have a worthwhile career? Are you serious? Do you even know difficult it is to become get on that list and STAY there?

I'm sorry, but you're taking this to an absolutely ridiculous level. By your logic, she has to be an amazing actress for her career to mean anything. I...just can't comprehend how ridiculous that sounds.

    ReplyDelete
  14. She is commanding an A-list salary because of the success of Twilight. She has the buzz and press of an a-lister, and she's was supposed to be the box office draw for this franchise. If she isn't going to be taken seriously for her acting and she isn't going to make box office money, she isn't exactly having a successful career. Katherine Heigl went from America's sweetheart to Nyquil ads. She's making money, so maybe you can argue that she has a "career" but most people would say her "career" is bust. I'm saying the same applies to Stewart.

    ReplyDelete
  15. It's not the same. Their careers are on a completely different path. Also, despite the absolutely irrational level of hatred leveled at her, Kristen has a very large and dedicated fanbase who will watch anything she's in. That fanbase didn't become any smaller after that scandal, and I've only seen it grow over the years. That's a very valuable thing for movies.

And as I mentioned above, she's being typecasted into roles that don't allow her to show much emotional range even if she could. The one role that she's had that she wasn't typecasted into was one of her better performances. That says a lot. She started twilight when she was 18 and had to do that for years. She hasn't been given the roles or the time to show she's a good actress.

Personally, I don't think she's a great actress, but I also don't think she's as bad as everyone claims.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Even though Kristen isn't coming back, I hope the character does and they recast her. I actually kind of want to see what happened after the first movie.

However, since Charlize is coming back I'm thinking this could maybe be a prequel?

    ReplyDelete
  17. Actually the aforementioned fanbase is going to grow up very soon and realize how horrible Twilight is and how little she did to make it any better. She may not deserve all the crap she is getting, but the public has never been known for its fairness towards celebrities. If she wanted anything better she would've taken acting lessons or disappeared entirely with her paycheck from Twilight.

ps: She has played a character that was supposedly the most stunning / beautiful creature ever to walk those forests against Theron. Good one, casting director, good one!

    ReplyDelete
  18. That's a weird assumption to make. Her fanbase does think the Twilight movies are terrible. I'm not sure how you jumped to the conclusion that her fans are mostly twihards. Most of them left when she cheated on her boyfriend and ruined those fan's dreams of them remaining together for all eternity.

    ReplyDelete
  19. So what fans are you counting on to make these movies worthwhile financially? I mean we are not talking about making a couple hundred thousand dollars here, these things gotta make millions in order to keep her "successful" career alive. Either way, chances are any movie that has had her in the past is better off not having her anymore. I'd rather have an equally bad newcomer at least give it her best than watch her do absolutely nothing (yet again).

    ReplyDelete
  20. And that's the most insulting thing you Kristen haters keep coming up with. That she's doing nothing. Five movies (probably seven) between now and the end of next year. That girl is WORKING. And her list of upcoming movies seems to expand a couple more every few months.

I'd believe that nonsense that her career is over if there was any actual proof of that. But there isn't! She's still in movies, she still has a lot of fans, and her career slowed down for maybe six months after the cheating scandal and then picked right back up again. She's been nominated for and won quite a lot of awards over the years. Granted, most of them were for Twilight, but she also won awards for her more recent roles like Snow White.

Pretty much everything she's been in since her career took off has done well.

  21. Oh for crying out loud! Why does this stupid internet logic persist? Having an opinion that doesn't match yours does not automatically mean I think your opinion doesn't have value! I never said that! I said that I don't share your opinion! It's not the same thing as not valuing your right to have one!

I swear, in all of my years of being on the internet, that is one of the dumbest leaps in logic I've ever seen people do, and people do it A LOT. I don't share your opinion and I've given reasons for not sharing it, that's all I've done! Not agreeing with you does not mean I believe I'm absolutely right and you're absolutely wrong! This situation has no right or wrong because it's based almost entirely on opinion!

I go into every conversation knowing that, but it seems like if I don't make it VERY CLEAR that i respect your opinion even if I don't agree with it, people jump to the idiotic logic that I'm insulting their right to disagree with me, which is just so so stupid.

You're allowed to have a different opinion than me! I've never said otherwise! Not once! I used words like most, some, and a lot for the reason that people wouldn't think I was generalizing everyone. Somehow that flies over heads as well.

  22. If its still being classed as a sequel then I hope they recast the character of Snow White instead of dropping her all together, I was looking forward to seeing more between her and the Huntsman

    ReplyDelete
  23. Just maybe we can get someone that is NOT made of cardboard.

    ReplyDelete
  24. I have not read anyone but YOU use the HATE word. Just because I don't think someone can act their way out of a paper bag does NOT mean I hate them. So please show where hate is involved.

    ReplyDelete
  25. i agree, its an obvious image move that i dont like at all...

  26. Christopher DeBonoJune 28, 2014 at 1:43 PM

I believe it's now being classed as a spinoff rather then a sequel.

    ReplyDelete
  27. That's weird, did I say you were hating on her?

    ReplyDelete
  28. Your comments sound like anyone that does not think she is perfect and a great actor is a hater.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Kristen is not a good actress IMO, so they can make the Sequel better without her :D

    ReplyDelete
  30. I pretty sure most of them just moved on to BATB.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Good riddance.
Never saw the 1st one because of KStew. Maybe I'll see the 2nd one.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Also male actors usually don't get this much crap unless they do something really awful and stupid (like Shia LaBeouf ) and even then people still claim they are good actors and they should get another chance.

    ReplyDelete
  33. I said above that I do not in fact believe she is a great actress.

    ReplyDelete
  34. I think I'm starting to believe in miracles. She is a horrible, talentless actress with zero emotion on her face. Anyone they pick has got to be better than this slut.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Who should they recast as Snow White ?

If it is a prequel I say fifteen year old ( in Oct ) Bailee ( you Snow White - Once Upon a Time ) should be cast a Snow White this time on the big screen.

Bailee was amazing in "Bridge to Terabithia" as May Belle Aarons and "Don't be Afraid of the Dark" as Sally Hurst.

    If it's a sequel I say:
Mila ( Theodoa - "Oz the Great and Powerful" ) Kunis,
Emma ( Hermione - the "Harry Potter" series ) Watson,
Jennifer ( Katniss - "The Hunger Games" ) Lawrence,
    or
    Nina ( Elena/Katherine - "The Vampire Diaries" ) Dobrev
    ....... maybe even Selena Gomez

    ReplyDelete
  36. Recasting someone else for a role is just terrible in my eyes, so if this is so they better get rid of the whole snow white caracter.

    ReplyDelete
  37. WHAT acting?

    ReplyDelete
  38. i'm alright with this as long as snow white isn't recast and the character just isn't in the movie.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Maybe title it "Rose Red and The Huntsman"? :shrug

    ReplyDelete
  40. I have no opinion on Kristen's acting career or the film one way or another, but I will say that I do find it funny if she's being let go because of the tabloid scandal. Other celebrities have affairs all the time and it doesn't hurt their careers. And yet the director, who was also part of the scandal, gets off scot free, of course. Takes two to tango, does it not?

    ReplyDelete
  41. I hate knowing too much about actors.

    ReplyDelete
  42. I gotta say I think one of the biggest problems in internet conversations is a lack of reading comprehension or just a leap to assumptions. I didn't say you can't have an opinion. As a matter of fact I said you could. What I did say is you aren't going to change my mind or influence me whatsoever, because you aren't stating your opinion you are stating generalizations about other people's opinions. What got all this started was the assumption of that people who don't like Kristen Stewart and think she is an obnoxiously bad actor are just blindly jumping in with everyone else, instead of recognizing that many many people of their own accord may have come to a unanimous decision.

Have your opinion. Post the crap out of your opinion. But personally, I think you're going to find people get into it with you when you speak for other people's opinions that you can't possibly know.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Like 2 comments up..."And that's the most insulting thing you Kristen haters keep coming up with."

Working and working successfully as stated are different things. Yes, she has acting jobs. No they aren't good jobs and she isn't good in them. She was supposed to be the next big thing, but she isn't.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Love or hate for Kristen Stewart aside does "Snow White and the Huntsman" need or deserve a follow - up (prequel/sequel)? The first film certainly wasn't on the level of Ron Howard's "Willow" or even Ridley Scott's "Legend" (yes the one with Tom Cruise). Not trying to P!$$ - 0FF either side (love/hate) but something to think about................just saying people! Nobody, 4 NOW!!!

    ReplyDelete
  45. imo opinion not a loss. She wasn't that awful but her chemistry with Chris did not work for me in the first movie. Looking forward to what they are going to do, regarding the tital probably recasting snow white....

    ReplyDelete
  46. going around with open mouth? that's her acting

    ReplyDelete
  47. Let's not forget the scoff!
