James Cameron has set Sigourney Weaver to return in the three Avatar sequels that are scheduled to begin production later this year. Weaver joins previously announced cast returnees Sam Worthington, ZoĆ« Saldana and Stephen Lang. She also becomes the second star after Lang to be resurrected for the trilogies after the characters they played died in Hollywood’s highest grossing film ever.

Love Sigourney Weaver , but how are they going to pull this off bringing back two characters from the dead?
ReplyDeleteThat's what I was thinking. I mean, I love her and loved her character in the movie too, but how are they going to bring her back after making such a big deal of her death, is beyond me.
ReplyDeleteShe might be back as a manifestation of the Na'vi god (Eywa) or something.
ReplyDeleteTo be honest she was my favourite character in the first movie, should be interesting to see how they bring her back.
ReplyDeleteThat's because this was suppose to be a standalone film. James Cameron said that when it first came out then it became the highest grossing film of all time and he changes his tune saying I've always planned to make 3 more.
ReplyDeleteApparently, she will be playing a new character, but 3 sequels are insane.
ReplyDeleteFor everyone wondering about how they are bringing them back: did none of you watch the movie? The while story is about the planet & everything living on it being connected. They hear the voices of the dead in their sacred trees because when they die they go back, there was a whole scene showing one of them dead in the hollow of a tree as the vines connected to the body. Its a whole rebirth thing, those two characters died on the planet & will be reborn is what I think they intend. It especially makes sense for Sigourney's character since she died attached to the uber sacred tree.
ReplyDelete3 Sequels, really!?!?!? Glad I never watched the first one. Now I'll be safe from having to watch the next three money makers.
