GAME OF THRONES ASCENDS 32% vs. LAST YEAR, WRAPPING UP IMPRESSIVE SECOND QUARTER FOR HBO

SILICON VALLEY, VEEP, LAST WEEK TONIGHT WITH JOHN OLIVER and THE NORMAL HEART Highlight Strong Sunday Nights

The season finale of GAME OF THRONES delivered 7.1 million viewersat 9:00PM last night, up 32% from the Season 3 finale. With an additional two plays this Sunday, the night’s gross audience was 9.3 million viewers. The 9:00PM airings this season averaged 6.8 million viewers, up 37% from last season. This season of GAME OF THRONES has also recorded the largest audience ever for an HBO series with an average gross audience of 18.6 million viewers, up 29% from last season.

Additional highlights for HBO’s second quarter include;

The new comedy SILICON VALLEY emerged as HBO’s most viewed current half-hour with an average gross audience of 5.7 million viewers.
VEEP was elected to its largest season yet with an average gross audience of 4.6 million viewers.
The new entry LAST WEEK TONIGHT WITH JOHN OLIVER developed a strong, consistent audience with an average gross audience of 4 million viewers.
The critically acclaimed HBO Film THE NORMAL HEART has grown in excess of over 355% since its premiere with an average gross audience of 4.3 million viewers.

  1. Oh I'm glad the audience for Normal Heart went up, very moving film.. And as for GOT well nothing is going to stop it for a few seasons yet.

  4. I was wondering how the NBA finals would affect the ratings and it really did not lower the ratings too much. Maybe a few tenths or half a point at most. Pretty impressive!
