Still not convinced. I really really wanted to like Dominion when Syfy announced its pickup but, so far, nothing about Dominion has caught my attention in a positive way. I'm now hoping that S2 of Defiance is a home run because my expectations of this show have dropped considerably.
I couldn't agree more with you. Although, I dont like Defiance either. But Dominion seems so disappointing to me. Its like (in a way) Supernatural meets Revolution and they combine to a TV show (giving a bad result). This is what you would take!!!
I'm underwhelmed too by the promo but then I never saw the movie, Legion, either because the movie received less than stellar reviews so I didn't bother seeing it.
I would also argue that the concept of an absentee/uncaring 'God' is not unique as Supernatural has been exploring a similar theme for the last 5 seasons now.
To be fair, not everyone has seen Supernatural. I mention Supernatural and most of my friends and family will go "what"? Only my parents know it cause they watched it before I did (and they stopped watching a few years back).
You're the 3rd person to review the episode and say something like this on Spoiler TV, so I really hope people who are turned off by the promos will read this.
I have seen the pilot and can tell you there is more character development in that one episode than all of the film Legion. The movie is basically a jumping off point. If you ever wondered what became of Jeep and the baby from Legion, you will get those answers during the pilot.
Never seen "Supernatural" but I'd say give Dominion a shot, there's some big ideas and the cast is fantastic. Don't prejudge this series, it really is its own thing.
If you liked Legion, you're going to love Dominion! It's well written, fast-paced and a fun ride. You should join us to "live-tweet" with the cast during the premiere! We are: @DominionTTVD
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.

ReplyDeleteExactly! I couldn't have explained it better.
I'm anxious to see this. But I've seen Legion, and that sometimes can make a difference (good or bad).
ReplyDeleteLegion and Supernatural explored the similar subject at around the same time.

Completely agree. The only real similarly is both shows have angels. Dominion has its own mythology, and it's pretty interesting.

ReplyDeleteI don't have Twitter, but I'm definitely looking forward to the show, will watch live, and maybe peek in on the conversation time to time. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad that all the people who have viewed the Pilot have said nothing but good things on Spoiler TV. I hope people pay attention to this!
