Update: Replaced with official press release.
Marvel and Netflix are proud to announce that acclaimed actress Rosario Dawson has joined "Marvel’s Daredevil," an all-new 13-episode series premiering on Netflix in 2015.
Known for her powerful work in “Cesar Chavez,” “Kids” and the upcoming “Sin City: A Dame To Kill For,” Rosario Dawson will play a dedicated young woman whose quest to heal the wounds of Hell’s Kitchen brings Matt Murdock unexpectedly crashing into her life, while her own journey forever alters the course of his battle against the injustices of this broken city.
Dawson joins Charlie Cox (previously announced as Matt Murdock) and Vincent D’Onofrio (previously announced as Wilson Fisk) in the critically-lauded cast of "Marvel’s Daredevil."
“Rosario Dawson is one the most charismatic, talented and powerful actresses in Hollywood, so she was always at the top of our list for 'Marvel’s Daredevil,'” said Jeph Loeb, Marvel’s Head of Television. “Her role in the series is absolutely critical to Matt Murdock’s journey to become the hero we know as Daredevil.”
"Marvel’s Daredevil" follows the journey of Matt Murdock, who was blinded as a young boy but imbued with extraordinary senses, now fighting against injustice by day as a lawyer, and by night as the super hero Daredevil in modern day Hell's Kitchen, New York City.
Marvel’s first original series on Netflix is Executive Produced by series Showrunner Steven S. DeKnight (“Spartacus”, “Buffy: The Vampire Slayer”, “Angel”) and Drew Goddard ("Cabin in the Woods," "Lost," "Buffy The Vampire Slayer", in addition to writing the first two episodes of "Marvel's Daredevil"), along with Marvel TV’s Jeph Loeb (“Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.,” “Smallville,” “Heroes”).
"Marvel’s Daredevil" is produced by Marvel Television in association with ABC Studios for Netflix.

that's a pretty big get right?
ReplyDeleteOh nice bit of casting there, this show is really shaping up nicely.
ReplyDeleteShe rarely does non-movie roles so yeah, I'd say its a big get. She has multiple awards too.
ReplyDeleteI think shes only a guest star though.
Gotta agree. I was initially planning on ignoring this show but the cast definitely makes it worth a look.
ReplyDeleteI could see her as a regular for the first season, it would most likely only be a 6 month commitment.
ReplyDeleteJust thinking about it, she might be playing Echo.
ReplyDeleteMaya's deaf and was initially an enemy of Daredevil. She dated Matt Murdock but was manipulated by Wilson Fisk who told her that Daredevil killed her father. She took up the identity of Echo to kill Daredevil but they managed to work out their differences. She was then important in the downfall of the Kingpin.
Eventually she joined the Avengers and took up a new identity, Ronin.
Introducing her here could set up her involvement in Phase 3. Perhaps as a future Black Widow replacement?
OMG, I love her! The casting for this has made me pretty excited for the show.
ReplyDeleteAnyone knows who will she play?
ReplyDeleteElektra? *-*
ReplyDeleteI wonder if Elektra will be in this series? I certainly hope so, but it's a no to her being played by Rosario Dawson for me.
ReplyDeleteno one can replace black widow
ReplyDeleteHmm, description definitely does not sound like Elektra. Possibly Kirsten McDuffie from the more recent runs. Her role can't exactly be considered 'critical to Matt Murdock’s journey to become the hero we know as Daredevil' though. Maybe Karen Page? I guess you could see her involvement with the law firm as wanting to help the community.
