I dont even know. I liked almost every couple at first, but with 6 season they kinda ruined every couple for me. I really liked Dan & Serena, but when i look at what happened of them in the end, they really ruined it
Chuck and Blair was the best but I also liked Carter & Serena, Nate & Serena, Rufus & Lily and Cyrus & Eleanor. LOL at Charles & Lily They did have inappropriate chemistry lol
While we are on the Gossip Girl subject - this is the example of how uninventive and non-critical towards themselves writers could respectably ruin the show with a good premise and casting. For me, the first season showed so much potential - they should have focused more on social issues, psychology and not stupid pairings, who's sleeping with who and, well, CHAIR. Although I really loved them and they ignited such a good chemistry. They still represent to me people who consider themselves to be equals, with deep intellectual (well, chair was made all about sex, but at first it was not like that) and friendly connection, but suddenly realise they could be much more. (Kind of reminds me of Bellamy and Clarke on The 100 these days). Too bad, the writers started to turn them in the comedy couple - all Gossip Girl started to sound like A comedy to me after the first two season (in season two also). TOO BAD, should have been on the best shows on television.
Loved Serena and Carter Baizen together, and would have loved to have seen more of Jack and Georgina getting together! Think it wouldve been an entertaining chase ;)
Chuck and Blair is a given, but I love Lily and Rufus. Will forever ignore the series finale on that regard, for me they stayed together, as they should have, end of story.
i still dont know how Rufus and Lily didnt got together at the end.... Dan and Serena the first seasons then Chuck and Blair.. but at the end that match between Jack and Georgina was really interesting.
I'm going with Cryus/Eleanor and Vanya/Dorota. Two couples that Gossip Girl never hurt by trying to up the drama to crazy proportions. Still super cute, no pimping or murdering or stalking or cheating or crazy sick schemes required.
All the rest I shipped at some point - well, most of them (who is Steven?) - but now they just make me sad.

Worst was Dan and Blair. Boring, cliche, no chemistry and destroyed the most important relationship on the show: Not Chuck and Blair but Serena and Blair. The writers should have spent more time on Serena and Blair's relationship rebuilding Chuck and Blair, Serena and Nate adorableness and less time in their futile effort to make people care about Dan Humphrey. Safran really screwed this show. The only thing that saved it was Ed Westwick and Leighton Meester's incredible chemistry overcoming the terrible writing for Chuck and Blair and the little glimpses we got of Chace Crawford shirtless.
They really were the only saving grace, or rather Ed and Leighton's chemistry was the only saving grace, after the writers hosed over all the other relationships I cared about.
I agree with you. Although I also liked Carter and Serena too and have never cared for any Vanessa pairings. I liked Dan and Blair are friends in S4 although I liked them more as antagonists. But they were an awful cringe worthy dull couple and I hated how Serena and Blair were thrown under the bus for them. Hell I even felt bad for Dan and Serena shippers then and I don't ship them in any way shape or form. But at least Penn and Blake have a little chemistry. But yeah the writing was awful in the end.
Wut? The only thing sucked was writers insisting on forcing that sucky humpty dumpty in our throats. And the ending was especially perfect, Chuck and Blair having everything they always wanted and craved for. I still weep over their perfect ending <3
I really liked Jack and Gerogina. They are my CB 2.0 lol. Wish they would come up with them sooner than other sucky couples who also made us puke and quit watching (aka dairsaster: the worst couple of all times).
I also loved Serena and Nate (my NJBC <4) Serena and Carter, Rufus and Lily at the beginning, Cyrus and Eleanor, Dorota and Vanya always :) BTW Charles and Lily as a couple? LOL. But I loved them so much as a family. Van Der Basses were amazing :D
The writers did squander Ed and Leighton's rare chemistry with terrible writing. Every time Chuck and Blair would look close to getting back together some stupid obstacle would get in the way. God pact anyone. Blair's brain damaged alter ego Clair Carlyle during Dair? But Ed and Leighton still sold the crap writing. Plus the Monte Carlo sex scenes were some of the hottest in the series. The whole show went to crap in S5 and never recovered but I still watched hoping for Serena and Nate and Chuck and Blair and that's mainly due to the actors and their chemistry.
I thought Dan and Blair had a few cute moments. I didn't hate them but they just didn't compare to Chuck and Blair. They were too lukewarm or something. Their friendship had a few cute scenes but the romance just didn't work for me. I voted for Chuck and Blair, Jack and Georgina and Lily and Rufus. I can't pick a Serena ship. I liked her with too many guys. lol
well if I don't like the canon/otp or stp couple I don't ship on shows but in this case the show's otp and my otp was one in the same Dan Humphrey and Serena Van Der Woodsen so of course that was my ship, my only ship. the other couple I liked really didn't get a chance to happen and that was Jenny/Nate
Chuck and Blair is number 1 hands down. They are everything. Cyrus and Eleanor and Jack and Georgina are in my top 3. Serena and Dan in season 1 were cute but later I didn't like them. I think Dan and Vanessa, and Serena and Nate, also Serena and Carter made better couples. Other endgames besides Chair would have been Rufly, Danessa and Serenate imo. Like in season 3. That was the best :)

Yes i know. What i mean is that the made so many stupid things and acted so bad to each other that i was not even happy that they ended up together.

ReplyDeleteStarted out really digging Dan/Serena and Lily/Rufus.
ReplyDeleteHalfway through S1 I turned my focus on Chuck/Blair.
However as the show progressed the one that only made sense was Dan/Blair and I hate how that was handled.
So by the end of it all the only couples worth rooting for ended up being Vanya/Dorota and Cyrus/Eleanor.
I still miss Chuck and Blair. I don't think I'll ever find another TV couple I love as much as them.
