Sara. There's already a Black Canary on this show. No need to replace her and there's lots to do with her character.
ReplyDeleteI also voted for other, Waller. I don't really like her but she is going to be involved both in the past and present storyline next season and I bet we'll see a lot of her.
I really like Sin and hope she recurs again next season but I don't think there's enough storyline for them to upgrade her to a regular.
Wasn't Barrowman already promoted to regular?
ReplyDeleteYup but maybe this poll was submitted before.
ReplyDeleteArrow would be perfect if it killed Sara off!
ReplyDeleteLyla Michaels - Audrey Marie Anderson
ReplyDeletei feel like she could be such a awesome character if she stuck around more
I'm not sure I see the need to promote any of them to regulars, but the ones I'd like to see more of are Walter (!), Sin and Deadshot.
ReplyDeleteI like Sara but I definitely don't want her in the regular cast. She's very cool in small doses but became stale when they overused her in the 2nd half of last season. Make her pop up a few times a season and that's it, even if she remains the only BC which is unlikely. Same with Nyssa who I'd also like to see more of.
I agree with you about Sara. She's great on the action stuff but her dramatic plots involving Laurel and Oliver just make me cringe.
ReplyDeleteWalter, Dinah and other. The other should be: someone who has not appeared in the show yet, but should now be a part of the series, Doctor Light. Have it be played by Matt Smith. I keep suggesting Matt Smith for this show, sort of like Chris went to do heroes for a season.
ReplyDeleteLike the other poster said, that poll was probably submitted a few weeks ago. I myself have submitted poll questions that were posted more than a month after I submitted them. They get a lot of submissions, so there's a long queue. It would also explain why some of the characters on the list are now (presumably) dead.
ReplyDeleteKelly Hu would actually be great! I still miss her on The 100. Other than that, Sara and Walter are welcome to join the cast.
ReplyDeleteEasy: Sara, Merlyn (done) and Deadshot. Walter is pointless without Moira, which is another reason why it may have been a mistake to kill her off. I hope we find out that Merlyn snatched Moira's bod and is having her regenerated.... Anything is possible in Arrow universe.
ReplyDeleteThey should stick a fork in Oliver's romantic relationships with BOTH Lance sisters, and I say that as someone who doesn't ship Oliver with Felicity in the least. Having a guy play ping-pong between two sisters is incredibly gross. He slept with both in the space of less than a year for crying out loud. I also don't know how they expect us to buy that any self-respecting woman would take back a boyfriend who cheated on her with her own sister. It's one thing for Laurel to forgive him for that, but to go there again, with all of that baggage? It's simply icky.
ReplyDeleteAmanda Waller and Lyla. Both great characters.
ReplyDeleteAlso it would be nice if they keep China White (I love Kelly Hu) and The Huntress around. Especially because I want The Huntress to become one of the good guys and it would be nice to have her around if The Question ever shows up.
Brother Blood & Isabel are dead. I agree with denverdan, that Walter is a flat character without Moira. Merlyn is already promoted to series regular, and will most likely have a major part to play. I like Sara, but can only take small doses of her. I'd prefer her for big battles. So what does that leave? I hope that the Huntress joins Deadshot and Bronze Tiger. Make The Suicide Squad regulars.
ReplyDeleteIf Sara and Oliver were only a pre-island thing i could at least understand Laurel having feelings for Oliver. But then she came back, they hooked up and Laurel was considered a bitch for not being suportive. That i can't get past.
ReplyDeleteBut i bet the writters are going to come up with a way to have Laurel and Oliver sleeping together again.
Caity Lotz (Sara Lance), easily. For me.she was the best part of Arrow this season. Hopefully, since Caity Lotz is mentioned in the official description for Arrow 3rd Season, she will at least have a recurring role if not a regular one.
ReplyDeleteSara needs to become the real Black Canary, but I want Nyssa there too! Team Arrow can be working with Sara to be good, while Nyssa can be keeping it real at the same time. I loved seeing that push/pull in the finale. Also seeing a real Sara/Nyssa relationship grow would be awesome. Actually just give the two of them there own show!! ;)
ReplyDeleteI actually like Sara, but that is only because I pretend the whole Oliver and her relationship didn't happen. That was the worst idea ever! She was supposed to be this tormented anti-hero trying to redeem her past actions, but in 1 episode she went right back to her first mistake. What and why?! Then Laurel was all good with there relationship. It just made the two "heroes" of the show look like bad people and Laurel look weak. Maybe that was the point though...
ReplyDeleteQuite a few characters on this poll are dead and one's already been promoted to Series Regular (John Barrowman). So I voted for Sara and Sin and a write in vote for Nyssa
ReplyDeleteThe Huntress
ReplyDeleteDo you even have to ask...SARA!!
ReplyDeleteI like her too, a lot actually. Loved her on City of Blood and Unthinkable. Hope she recur very often but i think they kind of ruined her a little with this hook up.
ReplyDeleteI don't get why they did it either. At first i thought that it was just so Slade could kill Sara making her the one he loved and avenging Shado.
I'm pretty sure we had this USDP already.
ReplyDeleteNo thanks.
ReplyDeleteThis poll was submitted weeks before.
ReplyDeleteThe other poll wasn't about one specific show: http://www.spoilertv.com/2014/03/usd-poll-which-recurring-guest-should.html
ReplyDeletehttp://www.spoilertv.com/2014/01/usd-poll-which-recurring-character-on.html
ReplyDeleteHa, I guess I should have looked back a little further.
ReplyDeleteSin. I think she'd be a great addition.
ReplyDeleteBex Taylor-Klaus(Sin) should be promoted to series regular as Sin should continue to play an important role even with Sara out of the picture and she could even become Arrow's version of Cheshire.
ReplyDeleteAlso, with looking at how the flashbacks are going to be for next season, I think Cynthia Addai-Robinson(Amanda Waller) should be promoted as well. I also think it would be a good move because I think that A.R.G.U.S. and H.I.V.E. could end up playing very important roles for S3.
While Caity Lotz is an okay choice, she's gone and will probably only show up in a recurring status from now, plus we have Laurel Lance who will continue in this arc of becoming Black Canary. I also think Sara could end up being Arrow's version of White Canary.
Layla, walter and Sin?
ReplyDeleteWTF type of list is this?
ReplyDelete3 of them were killed off, and 1 was already promoted.
I agree with you, I prefer Laurel when she is not involved with Oliver's girlfriend or romantic way. As a friend, or best friend, the dynamic between both works better, especially now that she knows his secret. Laurel in my opinion has grown as a character after her addiction. However when they put her jealous to see Oliver and Sarah together it turned out to be a little boring , at least it was quickly. And not to mention that it would be strange to see Laurel and Oliver together after all. I hope to see Oliver and Felicity together, the chemistry between the two is better, but no need to be rushing into that, they should take a while to work better on their feeling for each other. Anyway, I'd rather see Sarah as recurring character, so they can focus on the flashbacks between the time of Oliver on the island and Sara in the league of assassins. Maybe even some plot in there also in the present.
ReplyDeleteLol. People still have hope that Sara could -or is going to- be the Canary! She LITERALLY passed it to Laurel people! You will have to accept it... or maybe you'll should just keep hoping until the show ends.
ReplyDeleteHave you been watching the show, or did you miss the entire season where Sara was The Canary?
ReplyDeleteShe has to leave the League and come back Starling City to do that. Seems she changes her mind a lot though.
ReplyDeleteBarrowman is going to be a regular in season 3
ReplyDeleteIs that even a question? Sara of course!!! Caity is amazing and she did a great job in the show! If she won't stay in Arrow, then i would love to see a Spin Off with her and Nyssa in the LOA. That would be awesome!
ReplyDeleteSara was easily the BEST part about Arrow in Season 2! So no, this will not gonna happen!
ReplyDeleteHuh, I didn't realize that heroes were defined by their outerwear.
ReplyDeleteBut please, continue mocking people for enjoying certain aspects of a television show that you don't enjoy as much. You're definitely making a positive contribution to this discussion by doing so.
I actually feel like Sara and Oliver's time on the island rather justified their subsequent relationship in the present. They were presented, rather too effectively in my opinion (given how things turned out), as having been shaped by their trauma to the extent that they were the only ones who could understand each other.
ReplyDeleteThe issue of Laurel was certainly there, but the fact that both Sara and Oliver have a history of being assholes (see:Oliver using Felicity as bait) is one of my favourite things about the show. I'm also not certain -- from a strictly in-universe point of view -- whether the moral problems of the Oliver/Sara hookup would outweigh the solace the two found in it. A lot of real life relationships are frequently just as uncomfortable, but ultimately not without their own merits.
Since the writers have been pushing Laurel down our throuths, and send Sara on a 'boat trip', I'm pretty sure they're plan is to make Laurel the Canary. Not just because of the jacket, but everything they have been doing is leading on her being the BC.
ReplyDeleteBtw, super heroes are kinda defined by their outwear; if people see The Arrow without his costume, they won't know is him.
Um, no. I'm OK with Sara and all, and think she's the one true black canary, but that's a big no on your claims about season 2. Just, no. Slow your roll there. The whole 10-12 episode alternating Lance arch had fans fleeing Arrow faster than the Flash. Season two had some great action but it was iffy for a long stretch there. The last two episode which turned its focus back on Team Arrow, worked great.
ReplyDeleteTHIS! They took a character that I was fond of and made her unbearable because they over used her for a LONG stretch at the back end of season 2. It was incredibly annoying. Add in that sister swapping thing and it's a wrap.
ReplyDeleteUm...you do know what the word "literally" means, right? Because the jacket passing, if it was meant to be symbolic of BC, was meant figuratively. And 1derer--"I didn't realize that heroes were defined by their outerwear" has got to be one of the best responses to that plot line I've read anywhere...it ties with "That jacket must have read 'No Training Required.'"
ReplyDelete"I didn't realize that heroes were defined by their outerwear" has got to be one of the best responses to that plot line I've read anywhere...it ties with "That jacket must have read 'No Training Required.'"--Posted this above, but it should really be the reply to this.
ReplyDeleteWhat "alternating 10-12 episode alternating Lance arc" are you talking about? Other than the eps where Laurel was angry at her, Sara's personal life was most prominent in League of Assassins and Heir to the Demon, two of the best episodes of the season. She was equally non-problematic in flashbacks that focused on her (see: making people into unwitting suicide bombers).
ReplyDeletePersonally, I'd say that Amell continues to fill his role as Arrow's best asset, but the problematic parts of Sara's story were those which involved Laurel, rather than her own independent stuff.
I sincerely don't want any of them to be promoted to regular status. Show should actually concentrate more on the current regulars. I still have not forgiven them for doing a Helena (BoP) episode and giving Sin a back story while completely ignoring Roy after he joined Team Arrow. They botched Roy's transformation into a hero big time. They should have shown us Roy training more atleast hitting one target before giving him a mask in the finale. They actually gave Sin and Deadshot more growth in few episodes than Diggle and Felicity all through this season.
ReplyDeleteI would like to see Sin, Walter, Deadshot and Nyssa more next season. Sara should come and go and should not be a regular imo.
I wish they would stick a fork in Oliver's romantic relationships period. Oliver and Lance sisters Vagina ping pong is disgusting. With the way they ended the finale by Sara going back to LoA smiling and giggling I don't care who becomes BC.
ReplyDeleteFelicity even though a strong character needs to get out of this Oliver shadow and get herself a man. Because right now this relationship is terribly unequal. After that fake "I love you" she gave him a chance to say something about whether his words held any truth, and all he did was smile at her kindly, sorrowfully and almost pityingly. Oliver has been giving her mixed signals (not by words but by his body language) if we go by what we see on screen and he knows her feelings towards him. I am a Felicity fan more than Oliver even though I love him too. But if Felicity does not move on with some one who puts her first I will be disappointed in her. They can break that relationship later on saying it didn't work out because of the secrets but please let her have a life till Oliver is ready for a relationship with her (if he is never ready it will be a shame but I will be fine with it too).
Personally I think if Laurel was not around or was having a normal life their relationship would not have been an issue. The problem here is first they show us in season 1 Oliver was waiting all these 5 years to be with Laurel. Then in season 2 they introduce Sara and in episode 05 LoA Sara even shares her concern whether Laurel would forgive her and states that as one of the reasons for not revealing herself to her family. Sara is aware of Laurel's depression and addiction issue even before she is revealed in HttD.
ReplyDeleteI get that Oliver and Sara has a history of being assholes. But this show is also about their growth from said assholes to heroes. How much ever solace they got from each other or the understanding they share, they should have put Laurel in front of their needs. And Sara who badly wanted Laurel's forgiveness should have worked for that and not take her mistake for family dinner to rub it in her face. Instead they made Laurel apologize to Sara and made everything her fault.
In the fashbacks I was totally okay with them being close (even though Oliver had spent the last year ONLY talking about Laurel and not even caring Sara was dead). But after 5 years apart, Sara being in a relationship with Nyssa and Oliver having sex and wanting to be with Laurel again a couple months previous...their relationship in the current timeline made no sense!
ReplyDeleteLike I said I love Sara's character and would love her have her own BC/LoA show, but I just like to pretend the Oliver thing wasn't revisited. It wasn't needed for either character and was only used to make Laurel a point of the story again.
Yes, Yes, Yes! Oliver needs to keep it in his pants for one season (at least in the current timeline). Looking at his track record with ladies should tell him that he's not ready for any type of female relationship.
ReplyDeleteAnd little sweet Felicity needs to meet someone in a coffee shop. Like I don't want her to be going out clubbing, but I want her to be sitting in a coffee shop and a guy actually spills his coffee on his labtop and falls in love with her adorable ramblings while she is fixxing it for him. And I'm totally okay with the idea of them breaking up at the end of the season because she decides Arrow work is the most impotant to her. And I don't mean Oliver, but the actual work they do!
What are Laurel's needs compared to Oliver and Sara's in your opinion?
ReplyDeleteObviously, Laurel was having an incredibly difficult time, and the dinner was a bonehead move, but Sara (leaving Oliver's trauma aside here) was similarly psychologically vulnerable was she not? She literally tried to commit suicide in order to escape the murder ninja's efforts to get her back in their club, and was portrayed as self-loathing throughout most of the season.
That's why I wonder at what point Sara "healing herself" via Oliver's the solace gained from love and support becomes important enough to override the problem of Laurel's hurt feelings?
How have they given Deadshot more growth than Diggle? All of Deadshot's scenes were with Diggle.
ReplyDeleteSuper heroes are kinda defined by their outwear; if people see The Arrow without his costume, they won't know is him. And if Roy suits up Oli's his costume, people will think he's the Arrow, and Oli will get mad because he kinda used/stole his character/personality (even if it was just a one time thing).
ReplyDeleteDeadshot was a cold heart ed killer in the beginning of Russia episode. By the end of it he sees Digg's honor and gives him the HIVE tid bit. In Suicide Squad he moved on to some one who is ready to sacrifice himself. And by unthinkable he was fighting the good guys fight with Diggle. Every scene you had of Deadshot was meaningful and I loved it. But apart from this three episodes and once when Digg went to investigate Grundy's apartment, he was almost equivalent to background wall paper. He was either looking into a tablet or bringing a file.
ReplyDeleteIts not that I don't like Sin or Deadshot. I love all the recurring characters in this show. But the show has failed to use the regulars to their full potential imo. They dropped Laurel few episodes earlier this season (its not like I love Laurel but still), Roy was MIA after his introduction to team Arrow. Thea didn't have anything meaningful to do until the daddy issues cropped up. At least in previous season all the regulars had a flowing story and meaningful screen time through out the season and not in one off episodes.
Its not about Laurel or her need at all. Its about Sara's characterization for me. Sara at last was able to get out of League's clutches and got her family back. She got her father, mother and her sister whom she wronged terribly last time they were together. IMO her all efforts and attention should have been towards family. So what Laurel threw that glass at her (that was over dramatic and unfair. She didn't even hug Sara) could she not try harder with her? She had her father and mother who blindly supports her and is happy for her return. She should have put her sister first and apologized again and again for the shitty thing she did and tried to repair that relationship first before jumping into bed with Oliver. For me family always comes first even before yourself and that's what I expect from my heroes. Also show making Laurel ask for forgiveness from Sara and painted her in the wrong left a bad taste for me and absolutely dislike Laurel.
ReplyDeleteAS for "I wonder at what point Sara "healing herself" via Oliver's the solace gained from love and support becomes important enough to override the problem of Laurel's hurt feelings". Sara could have found comfort and healed herself with the help of her father who understands her and supports her. Even if she wanted comfort from Oliver (shared experiences and all that) she should have waited till her relationship with Laurel is repaired. They don't need Laurel's blessing. But Sara did need Laurel's forgiveness. Also, is sex the only way to heal yourself and finding comfort from another person. What happened to good old fashioned talking among friends?
I have no problem if Oliver has one night stands like he did with Isabel. This season Oliver had only one meaningful relationship with Sara and a one night stand with Isabel. Even in season 1 he tried with Helena, Mc Kenna and then with Laurel. All three bombed spectacularly. That number is nothing compared to tv standards. Its the way he gets when he is in a relationship. He is too much of a romantic and wants all his relationships to work out badly. Yet he is not in a position to have a meaningful relationship. I just want Sara, Felicity and Laurel to stand tall without the shadow of Oliver. And I don't want Oliver to sleep with Amanda Waller.
ReplyDeleteI think I could have shipped Oliver and Sara if it had been done right. They were such a badass couple with a history that left the door open for them to date again (unlike Laurel/Oliver), but the way the show did it was wrong!! If one or two episodes after Sara is back in town and the two had been working to take down bad guys together and Sara had started to mend her relationship with her sister...I could have totally shipped them dating! Hooking up on her first night back I could have even been okay with...but seriously dating and taking Oliver home with her in the next episode made NO SENSE!! It was just to give Laurel her "island" season and create weird Lance family drama. That's just what this show needed. Instead of giving us great Sara being part of Team Arrow moments...we got more Oliver thinking with his dick moments.
