Sunday 5/04/14 Metered Markets
Clean Sweep for CBS; Respectable “Resurrection” Season-Ender on ABC
Household
Rating/Share
CBS 6.5/11
ABC 4.2/ 7
NBC 2.8/ 5
Fox 2.4/ 4
-Percent Change from the Year-Ago Evening – Sunday 4/28/13:
ABC: + 8, CBS: + 2, NBC: no change, Fox: -33
—–
-Winners:
“60 Minutes” (CBS), “The Good Wife” (CBS)
-Honorable Mention:
“Resurrection” (ABC)
-Losers (excluding repeats):
“American Dream Builders” (NBC), “Bob’s Burgers” (Fox), “American Dad!” (Fox), “Believe” (NBC), “Crisis” (NBC)
—–
-Ratings Breakdown:
It was a clean household overnight sweep for CBS with its line-up of granddaddy “60 Minutes” (#1 for the night: 8.0 rating/14 share), “The Amazing Race” (5.6/ 9 – go “Brenchel!”), “The Good Wife” (6.6/10) and “The Mentalist” (5.7/10), which is in search of a new home for next season. Comparably, CBS bested No. 2 ABC overall by a hefty 55 percent. But the race among adults 18-49 (and other key demos) is likely to fall in ABC’s favor.
In season finale news, ABC freshman midseason drama “Resurrection” closed with a 5.1/ 8 in the overnights at 9 p.m., which is strong enough to warrant a second season renewal. Comparably, “Resurrection” built from lead-in “Once Upon a Time” (#2: 4.4/ 7 at 8 p.m.) by 16 percent. As for that cliffhanger episode, it should be interesting to say the least in season two for this ambitious and worthy drama.
Next on ABC was three year-old “Revenge” at a diluted (and second place) 3.6/ 6 at 10 p.m. Earlier in the evening on the alphabet net was veteran “America’s Funniest Home Videos” at a second-place 3.8/ 7 at 7 p.m.
Elsewhere, NBC finished in the distant No. 3 spot with its combination of “American Dream Builders” (#3: 1.7/ 3), “Dateline” (#3: 4.1/ 7), “Believe” (#3: 2.9/ 4) and “Crisis” (#3: 2.4/ 4), which does not bode well for renewal for the two recent drama entries (no to mention “American Dream Builders”). And Fox increased by 14 percent week-to-week with its combination of animated “Bob’s Burgers:” (#4: 1.6/ 3), “American Dad!” (#3t, 1.7/ 3), “The Simpsons” (#3: 2.8/ 5) and “Family Guy” (#4: 3.0/ 5) from 7-9 p.m. and recent entry “Cosmos: A Spacetime Odyssey” (#4: 2.6/ 4 at 9 p.m.).

I hope Revenge increased on the demos, I mean the episode was so amazingly good it deserves it
ReplyDeletein HH it seems that ONCE and Resurrrection are up and Revenge is steady... lets wait to see how it reflects on the demo
ReplyDeleteResurrection is "ambitious"?
ReplyDeleteI thought it was very boring and dull.
If you want ambitious, watch the massively similar and greatly superior Les Revanants.
Resurrection has lost half of its 18-48 demo rating since premiering just a few months ago.
It hit new series lows 7 weeks in a row, and only got a rise for the finale. Doesnt bode well for its future at all.
2 short seasons and done.

ReplyDeleteRevenge was so amazing yesterday
ReplyDeleteLast week the preliminary for OUAT was 4.3 and the demo resulted in a 2.1 (then adjusted up in the finals to a 2.2). So, guessing, also this weeks the numbers will be similar (if not a little better).
ReplyDeletethey really have to renew the mentalist. its an awsome show
ReplyDeleteyup I guess no matter how good the show gets, those ratings will never go back up again.
ReplyDeleteI, I.... haven't watched the episode:o nononononono
ReplyDeletedamn! Sorry about the spoiler :S. I can tell you that the way it is done will leave you amazed, even if you know what happens. Sorry about the spoiler again >.<
ReplyDeleteA 1.2 demo with 9 mil viewers is really reminding me of Harry's Law.
ReplyDeleteDon't worry, it's completely my fault, I shouldn't have watched the comment section, but I'm sure it will be my favorite episode since Conrad dies :D
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to seeing how he dies!
I'm pretty sure after this episode ratings will.definitely go back up.
ReplyDelete1.3 for Revenge. Steady! When most of the shows are falling and it stays steady. That's OK. Lol. ;)
ReplyDeleteOh! I thought he was gonna die! I just finished it and when I saw Emily in the prison, I was like "Oh wait, she's the one who going to kill him?" and then nothing and I understood what you meant lol.
ReplyDeleteI was debating myself if I should have told you he didn't die or not, but in the end I thought it was for the best that you'd see it yourself xD. Anyway, great take down, wasn't it?
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you didn't me, thanks for that, really!
ReplyDeleteYep, Charlotte framing Conrad without knowing it... I was so happy when Emily finally smiled and understood that her father's name was cleared!
