DemonDean - I am guessing that the way to cure a demon won't work. I am glad that Sammy was willing to do whatever to bring Dean back. But what are they going to say about the last two seasons?
OH GOD, THEY REALLY DID IT. THEY ACTUALLY WENT THERE AND OH GOD.
At least one of the brothers didn't kill the other, though. Died at "I'm proud of us" and "I lied", but what do I have to do to get an "I love you", especially in these types of situations? Do I have to wait until the series finale when they probably both die for real (which I don't want)?
And oh God at Sam wanting to make a deal to bring Dean back. And that was a great finale, and I can't wait for season ten!
I thought the episode was awesome. Yes I might have known how it was going to end, but I loved every moment of the episode. Of Metatron finally getting caught out by the angels, of his fight with Dean. How Dean was willing to die and that moment with Sam. How in the end Sam was willing to summon Crowley to bring back Dean. I knew Sam wouldn't let Dean stay dead. I do wonder if Castiel will get his Grace back.
Bit disappointed that it was so predictable but it was still good. Needed a lot less angel chat and more Sam and Dean but here we are, cautiously interested in seeing where this goes in S10.
Best episode in a long while. The ending was predictable with all the discussion here on Spoiler TV, but I don't mind. This time last year I would have said "Noooo! Not Dean, not a demon!" but I'm actually kinda looking forward to it, if not for a change/new interesting story, for Sam and Cas working together to do whatever they can to get Dean back in some way.
"I'm proud of us." Yup, and that's when I started to break down and cry uncontrollably. Holy shit, that hurt a lot.
And it was obvious Dean was going to become a demon but that final shot of him opening his eyes and seeing they were pitch black still made my jaw drop.
I'm glad Dean knew before he died that when push came to shove, Sam would do anything for his big brother. A lot of people called this one, Dean is a demon. That is just so sick. That is his reward for giving most of life in fighting evil and saving people? At least we know there is a cure for a demon. If Sam performs the ritual, it will cure Dean but could kill him since it could be the competion of the third trial and close the Gates of Hell. Is the third trial even still in play since the angels fell last season finale? Maybe Castiel can perform the ritual and save both Dean and Sam in the process. When it comes time for this show to end, I want a happy ending with both brothers alive. Like I said, Sam and Dean deserve to live a happy normal life after fighting evil practically their entire lives.
Super finale, wonder if I will like Demon Dean as much as I did Feral Dean. Loved the crack about People's Choice Award..lol at that. Will watch tomorrow with CC on to make sure I did not miss anything.
Carver please just stay a writer and stop trying to be a show runner.
I'm just glad I left the comment sections a while ago , loosing interest in the Season, cause I didn't see it coming 'til when Crowley started talking....dammit , so many feelings
Sh*t! Sh*t! Yes I knew Dean Demon Woooohoooo, amazing episode, dude I screamed so loud when Dean opened his eyes that woke my brother kkkkkkkkkkkkk ... http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-xnHOo29ELoc/UkmX99PhWEI/AAAAAAAABFY/3X87OgcpUhE/s1600/tumblr_m6t87kR7Wd1ryqe5xo2_250.gif
1. Sam gets knocked out way too easily…he should have seen that coming. How long have you known your bother?? Sigh.
2. Not your typical Supernatural finale…normally they kill the bad guy so this was different. I actually like the fact they didn't get the bad guy. Show the Winchesters are infallible.
3. Which brings me to: I think it also shows that the Winchesters are stronger together than apart. Working together, they would have killed Metatron but, separately, they're kind of useless…running theme throughout this season. Work together boys!
4. Demon Dean makes for a very very very interesting season 10! I really really hope he stays a demon (don't flame me!). Half the cast on Vampire Diaries are vampires, why not make a Winchester a demon! After 9 years, and multiple times dying and bringing back to life, let's really change things up. Having him a demon makes for far more interesting story lines. Think of what he could do! Who's with me?
5. This finale was really slow and tedious at times; I'm expecting the premier will tie up all these loose ends. Hopefully, Metatron is over because he's been there, done that. My hope is Cas will take his grace and Metatron dies. Though, what that means for Cas I do not know. Again, great potential there as well.
6. All said, it was too slow for a Supernatural finale but has far-reaching consequences and great potential for season 10.
Good point…hopefully they'll touch on that in Season 10. Sam was wrong when he said he wouldn't do everything he could to bring his bother back. I see what you did there, writers!
Couldn't he, somehow, be a good demon? Weren't there demons who despised Crowley and tried to get away from him? Yes, they still had quotas to fill but they tried to do good. Maybe Dean can somehow be a goodish demon.
If the show can have decent quality (and I do think it still does sometimes) I don't mind going past season 10. I don't think it will happen (they will have tough competition in SHIELD next season, and the ratings for the CW are dropping so that includes SPN), but if next season is OK I wouldn't mind a season 11. I just want more respect in the writing for all the characters, and more diversity.
was it just me or was crowley tearing up, no that's crazy maybe i was, holy crap what a season finale and NOOOOO dean you're supposed to be human not a demon, i was surprised castiel let metatron live and sorry castiel it's too late for you to just be an angel and wow i guess gadreel redeemed himself, i still hate him for kevin but at least he saved castiel and i still love pop-culture savvy castiel LOL
Actually, they came closer with Meg then Ruby. Ruby was always evil, Meg showed some true redeeming qualities. For a demon at least.
My theory on why the demon cure won't work? Dean isn't merely a demon now, he's a presumably quite powerful one, like Cain was. Ie knights of hell? The cure didn't work on abbadon, if I remember right, but I'm not sure they actually got the chance to finish.
And.. /really/ loved Crowley's speech at the end, and the brothers bro moment, and the fact that despite all his high and mighty talk about not going to extraordinary efforts to save eachother, the first thing Sam does is try to get Crowley to bring Dean back.
Yeah . . . . they never really resolved that, did they? But it was concerning Sam's feelings so that's to be expected! I'm not sure what that was about.
Heck, the fact that the possession was reduced to "sharing a house" and Sam called Gadreel a "real friend" invalidates, in my mind, the entire first half of the season!
I think they are setting up Dean with Crowley and Castiel with Sam. With that, maybe we get Dean interacting with some other demons or doing not so good things with them. The big question is what they are going to do with Sam? He needs more characters to interact too.
Yeah I couldn't believe my ears that Sam included Gadreel in the friend line. I was like WTF? He may have been an Allie to them at that point, but it didn't make him a friend of any kind.
I actually thought Dean was somehow going to go to Heaven being that he has already spent time in both hell and purgatory - a well travelled soul - so him turning into a demon was not expected at all for me. Twas an awesome cliffhanger, hopefully the angels are kept at a minimum 'cause they bore me especially Metatron - who really made this finale slow and plodding. Forget demon Dean, that is compelling, but it also looks like there will be more Crowley in Season 10, possibly as the central villian, which I am so down for.
A few things: The worst big bad character SPN has ever had, and we have him back for S10...and he killed Dean Winchester. Too little too late, Sam. Nothing resolved between the brothers. They kill off Gadreel and Abbadon, the good characters once again, and keep the crummy ones. I do not like demon Dean. It's a disservice to the character. I still see no purpose for Cas. He did nothing and accomplished nothing this season. Crowley is a slimeball and he always beats the Winchesters. Maybe I am rooting for the wrong characters on this show. I am undecided if I will be back next year. I haven't seen anything I've liked for four years now. Maybe it's time the show and I broke up.
I can't see it too because the writers know that separating them for too long is not a good thing, especially when there is Agents of Shield at the same time.
Except curing a demon would mean Sam possibly dies. He can't undo having done the first two trials. And as much as I'd love to see Sam doe to save Dean I don't think it's going to happen.
AOS is moving to 9? I guess I'll be recording this show then. I've hated each Carver season more than the previous one so that does not bode well for next year.
Gadreel was a real friend because he was helping them at risk to himself. I don't think Sam had forgotten what he'd done though. During that conversation he described to Dean in great detail (moreso than usual) just how violated he felt by that deal.
I wasn't shocked. Sam tends to forgive or move on to get the job done. Cas just about killed him and he was praying to him only an episode or two later.
True, but it was just odd to hear from Sam's mouth. I don't think the word "friend" would apply to Gadreel no matter how much he's currently helping them.
I think this is the chance to finally give Sam more of that lead hero role. Dean is going to either be an enemy or someone who needs help. Cas is dying. Sam's the strongest.
It was odd, but I think he was just trying to get to Dean and get them all to work together. For the most part I thought they got Sam right in the episode.
True, but he knew Cas a lot longer than Gadreel, and he and Cas had worked together as allies before Cas betrayed him. Cas and Gadreel can't be compared IMO.
That was an average finale. It doesn't entirely have the emotional grandeur of one of the most previous season finales. The twist about Demon Dean was surprising but leaves me a bit frustrated knowing this will lead to more brotherly tension like there hasn't been enough this season.
Jeremy Carver, CW, and Jared and Jensen have all said they're fine with going on. I still think season 10 will be it, just based on the new competition from SHIELD and the CW having new shows coming along, but the door has been left open.
That's true. I was just comparing Sam's ability to move on when he has to (whether it's healthy or not). If anything Cas being closer to him should have angered him even more, but he didn't let that happen.
By the way can someone give me a summary of what Crowley said to Dean at the end please? There was some kind of noise around here that made difficult to get the scene.
Sam does seem to forgive a bit easily. I guess I just can't move past how angry they had Sam about the possession and the psycho angel, and then with a snap of the fingers, Gadreel is their misunderstood friend and ally?!?!? Really?!?!
Metatron isn't a big bad. He never was. He's a headcase but he's not good enough to be a villain. I feel like we saw that again in this episode. I am hoping if he's back it's just briefly to tie up loose ends.
I still feel like we're heading to Crowley's final downfall.
I wish they'd kept Abaddon, but I think this was a decent ending for Gadreel.
I guess to me he was still angry (he seemed angrier here than he's been in a while), but not interested in facing it while their backs were against the wall. If Gadreel had lived then I think things would have been very strained.
I can't remember it word for word, but he said something about being sorry, that he didn't intend for Dean to die, that Sam was going to be angry with him, that Cain killed himself because he couldn't live with the MOC, that Cain didn't die, and then he called for Dean to wake up and see through his eyes.
And I don't think anything will ever be resolved between the brothers as long as Dean thinks he has the right to dictate Sam's free will. We saw it again in this episode. Sam is a person, not a role. Maybe if Sam cures Dean, or dies to save Dean or hunts perfectly well without him (and we saw him do that last season), Dean might accept him as an equal and things will be okay between them.
Gotta admit, I was exalted while watching, still it was very obvious what was gonna happen at the end. Really liked this episode and suddenly I remembered Bobby's comment to Dean... ''How is it... that half the time you clean a mess, you end up dirty?'' :p
This is the only series I know that can recycle its own storyline three times. If they really want to keep things going, don't cure Dean. Heck, if he needs to be tamed it would make for a better story.
Well i dont know what to say i was s shocked when dean got stabbed yet funny enough i have saw him die over and over but i was expecting him to win the fight i guess....Also the end hhdedhdehehfehofeufueffoh NO WAY !!!!!!!!!
Wish people would stop moaning you wanted dean to have a story , now he does a Dean vs Sam i think , i thought it was sick the ending and tragic and aslong as Dean doesnt get out of being a Demon then this will be one of my fav finals since s5
And I still think regardless of what they've said, the door will be closed by season 10. I could care less about sheild or w/e other CW shows, SPN in itself is over. It's reached it's peak after season 10. Well it's reached its peak long before that, that's jmho. But season 10 is it. I highly doubt it'll get a season 11.
Saw it coming. Hated that Metatron's still alive and that Dean didn't get to FB him. But, overall, I thought it was a great episode and that acting was superb.
WELL THATS A GAME CHANGER YOU KNOW WHAT YOU GUYS HAVE BEEN WANTING A FRESH STORY ...WELL HERE IT IS I DONT UNDERSTAND ...
Anyways i loved this episode was it THE BEST no swan song and all hell breaks loss part 2 are still winning the race , but jared was right that its a game changer and WOW and chilling .The way dean was killed was so chilling and tragic and i just hope he stays a villian otherwise i wont like the story as there is no point to it . I CANT STAND MAETARTON AT ALL HES NOT EVEN A GOOD ACTOR TO ME BUT i think i didn't care so as the acting from jensen and jared and crowely wer FU####KING AWESOME !...Much better than the angels falling and this season was not what i expected it to be FYI thats bad i fought it would be more story than fillers but it picked by the episode 11 and king of the dammed brought the demon feeling back into the show that i so long missed, demons are cooler than angels to me haha. Anyways i was lying last year when i gave supernatural a 10/10 i was just being loyal lol but i plan to tel the truth this year i give it a solid 9/10 i honestly tought the build up to the end of the episode was class and i was so like WTF when Dean died and Sam crying like in s3 no rest for the wicked.
My hopes for s10:
*Dean stays! a demon for at least the first half of the seaso *Sam tries to save Dean for a change *MORE ACTION LESS FILLERS *More darkness *Maetrona or whatever dies
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Dean
I'm done. This season has been a trainwreck and the season finale was completely unfulfilling. Castiel should have killed Metatron and taken his grace back. Dean dying ... imagine that. A Winchester dying in a season finale ... how original. The whole him turning into a demon was not the hype that people are making it out to be.
Yeah there won't be a good demon scenario on this series. Cain isn't good he was just contained by the love he felt for a human female. He still had the urge to be evil in him ... and who could blame him.
I enjoyed this episode. I thought it was one of the better episodes this season, and had some wonderful acting across the board. I thought some of the stories, like Gadreel's, were tied up well enough. And there are a lot of possibilities for next season.
I don't care that Dean being a demon was predictable, as I'm mostly just happy that they set it up so well. I hope they will use this to truly rebuild Dean.
His saying "I'm proud of us," (one of the few times he has acknowledged himself) made me so sad.
I hope we're going to get more Sam POV next season, beyond just saving Dean. I hope this episode might be the start of that. He's in an awful place mentally, as we saw with that deal he tried to make. Let's see him climb out of it.
I hope the angel stuff is winding down, although I like Hannah, and I like most of the angels who are with Cas. I hope they run Heaven and he stays on Earth. I also hope we don't see Metatron again - rotting away is the perfect end for him. If we do see him again I hope it's just Cas getting his grace back and then killing him.
I have to say Mark Sheppard nailed that last speech.
Tbh, I thought that Sam was purposefully downplaying the possession to discourage Dean from going after Gadreel, whom they NEEDED. Imo he didn't mean what he said, it was the case of saying what's necessary to get Dean to step back.
Worst season finale ever. x Predictable and boring, saved only by the few brother scenes. Metatron is so unpleasant it's a burden to watch him, and I'm fed up with angels who treat humans as if they are scum. Humans didn't ask to be created so these crappy writers should have alittle more respect for them. Too bad it wasn't Castiel who died instead of Gadreel, GadreeL was much more interesting.Castiel with his pitiful trenchcoat looked like an idiot beside him. It's funny how all the wannabee gods first begin with being so sweet to humanity then turning against them just like Castiel did. x Then we should hold a yearly contest for all angels. Whoever gets to beat up and mash Dean's face the most, gets the 'Angel People's Award ' for best composition of blood splatter on Dean's face! x The only great scenes were those between the brothers as it has always been and will always continue to be. Those are what has kept Supernatural on the air,Carver, and only those; which you continue to push to the side! X All in all a meh episode, not deserving to be classed a supernatural finale. X Dean is now Crowley's minion. Poor Dean. He deserved better. X So in season ten we can look forward to more boring angels, and now Carver doesn't even need the excuse of 'maturity' to tear apart the brothers ' bond. All that was needed was to make Dean into a demon! Carver's gets my vote as worst showrunner ever!
So this means that Angels are STILL going to be in it next season? Damn. I thought that we'd finally be rid of them. I'm intrigued how the demon Dean story will play out. I'm guessing the days of saving people hunting things are well and truly gone, I can't imagine demon Dean going driving in the imapla with Sam going on hunts. But hey, it could be good. I'm looking forward to seeing where it goes.
With the cure, It might not work if hes a knight but it was working on Crowley and hes not your run of mill demon so you never know but it also opened up the fact that demons can be cured, they might just have to find away way to do it.
I think he would be more of a conflicted demon, he still had the urge to kill, he just did not want to. Its like Benny with human blood, he didn't want to drink but the urge was there.
Lousy finale. Can Dean cure Crowley? A little demon on demon curing going on while Cas and Sam work on sealing heaven, costing all of them their lives.
And then Lisa is at home with a three year old and fade to black.
what does that mean exactly? Dean's soul gone permanently or we will see him getting back into himself within next 2 episodes next season.I'm guessing the latter!!
I am one fan who disagrees with that. I have loved this season and all the other seasons for that matter. I hope it continues for a long while. From what I understand Carver has plans for going beyond season 10 and the President of the CW seems to lean toward going beyond season 10. It is just up to the boys signing on and the ratings.
Its not they dont get other work but they dont have time for other work. Not many main characters on shows do other stuff as the.show takes up a lot if the year. If they stopped supernatural they would get other work.
It shows that what sam thought he wanted he didnt. He realised why dean did what he did to save him as even though sam thought he could cope with dean dead he actually couldnt.
I loved that PCA line, it is just one more useless award, yes I love it when my guys win, but really it just means the "fans" have nothing better to do than vote over and over and over.
Loved it. Yes it was a bit slow during the homeless scene, but I'll forgive that. Loved that Sam realised why Dean did what he did to make Sam live and he realised that event though he thought he would be OK with not bringing Dean back, when it actually came down to it he needed his brother back. Can't wait for season 10 and I hope that Dean stays a demon for a bit, but not for too long or he does not do anything evil. He is one of the heroes of the series and that is what he needs to be.
Oh wow, I freaking loved this episode. Loved all the Dean/Crowley scenes I really am entertained by that buddy cop pairing. I also loved the Gadreel/Castiel partnership. Im really sad that Gadreel died and I'm pissed that Dean didn't get to kill Metatron but I'm ok with how everything went down.
I yelled at my TV twice tonight, once when Sam came running in during the Dean/ Metatron fight because I worried Sam was going to gank Metratron and the second time when Dean came back as a Demon.
I wish I could say the Demon thing was a surprise but I figured it out early on, I just was so excited to be right. I'm really upset that Dean is going to be a Demon because he's going to hate himself but at the same time it's kind of an exciting new story.
maybe i'm one of the odd ones out, but I loved the finale. I was on the edge of my seat the whole time and that ending still got me psyched for next season even though I had a slight feeling what was going to happen to Dean. THEY HAVE TO SAVE HIM!
Don't think your one of the odd ones out. Think lots of people loved it but it always seems to be the ones who don't like things that actually bother commenting on the episodes. The ones who like it don't appear to feel the need to let everyone else know that they loved it.
Even though this is an interesting way to see it, I wouldn't agree. I don't think they ever thought about making him a demon (in S9). At this time, Dean was about to get dragged to hell where he would eventually have become a demon. I think his hallucination back then was a manifestation of his fears during Season 3, unconnected to Season 9. I would not rule it out, though.
I had mixed feelings. There were some good scenes ("I'm proud of us" was the best brothers moment we got for a looooong time), but there were some things i did not like. So, first of all, I found it oddly predictable. Dean's death had me wondering for a second, but I knew they had to bring him back and becoming a demon was high on my list. So, another death and comeback. Let's hope they don't screw up that demon thing, because I think this could make a very interesting plot in Season 10.
Otherwise, it was ok. We've seen much better finales, but after all, there were worse (I hated S7, S8 was also not a favorite of mine).
I feel like Season 10 should really be the final season.
Okay I know people are going to be whinning about this finale but I thought it was great. I am happy they are taking a new direction & trying something new. I love that Sam & Dean kinda resolved their issues. I am glad Cas choose not to kill Metatron since he'll be looking for his grace I'm sure (and it shows how he's evolving into a better person). Demonic Dean is going to be interesting. I'm sure it'll cause new tension btw the brothers in some way or another. Dean has to be a demon in order to live with the Mark of Cain (according to Crowley). Jared did such an amazing job in that crying scene. They all did such an amazing job this season. I'm glad that Gadreel when out a hero and that he got his redemption. The actor playing Gadreel was awesome. HIs facial expressions alone were hilarious. For next season I'm hoping that went get at least 1 mth time jump so that we see that the brothers are already dealing with Demonic Dean, to a point. I just don't want to spend the first several eps showing them gettnig used to the fact of Demonic Dean. Was Dean always supposed to become a demon (if you think back to his original dying)? I think it is cool how the show connects dots from seasons ago to currently (which is one of the reasons I LOVE this show). S5 2014 Dean = S9 2014 Dean. This was amazing finale & cool that they ending on such a huge clifthanger. Can't wait for next season!!!!!
Carver said he was changing the landscape, and he certainly has to the point that if I pick up the show next season, it will be the premiere and the finale and maybe read blogs in-between to see if anything out of the predictable happens. What the episode did for me was to have it finally sink into my thick head that the long-time viewers are no longer of importance. The strategic business move has been to bring on the 15 and 16-year olds to ensure that the Supernatural remains a 'brand' for years to come. Good business move, but sad for those of us who are older than that and who have watched the show since the Pilot. I find I am no longer emotionally invested in either Winchester. I lost that feeling for Sam years ago, but now that the new budding 'bromance' is Crowley/Dean with Crowley and Sam vying for Dean's attention, I just don't care. It took two years to deconstruct the mythical 'brotherhood,' and I expect that to go on for some time now. Nothing was accomplished the entire season. The Winchesters lost. Crowley won by playing Dean like a fiddle. Cas' story moved absolutely nowhere. Sam...well he is still on-screen. No resolution to the coming-of-age Winchester story. Crowley is more human than demon. Dean is more demon than human. Cas is more human than angel. A half-attempt at resolving Sam's hateful words to Dean or the big spat about possession that played out all season. We have four **cough** heroes now, which should give the J2s all the time off they want. Metatron lives to yap on for another season. Gadreel, the only interesting angel that could have been developed more is dead. Hannah, who changes sides every time the wind blows, will be around next season, while good characters like Abbadon and Gadreel are dead and gone. Dean being a demon doesn't give me any anticipation. Sam can fix that with a few Enochian words, if the writers remember that he an do that, but I am sure the writers will string that out for half a season. There wasn't any set-up for S10. No big bads were introduced, no big arc for a story. Just more of the same lame monologuing angels and Crowley spouting witty little comments, Cas giving sad sack looks to the camera, and the Winchesters....well...I guess Dean will be Crowley's bitch and Sam will be Cas' new sidekick and they will all run around trying to help Dean, while Dean angsts over his fate.
Im a loyal supernatural fan. I enjoy it and will always enjoy watching it (even the stale boring episodes.) To me this wasn't a fitting season finale but I personally and all I can hope is they make a better kick ass season next season with this new dean.
What did I think well WHY came to mind . Sam has about has much use as a bucket with a hole in it and no iinvestment in the character, Demon Dean is just the mytharc alot of his fans wanted for him right from the start and Sam's violation has been treated like nothing more than a way to poke Dean into the right direction so we ended up with The Dark Knight of Supernatural or Sam part 2 what ever he can be called.
The brother scene at the end was good and Jared can cry like nobody's business but Demon Dean really ?.
That's b/c they're too busy with this show they're committed to this show. They've done more than this, they can always get back to it. It's not easy but that's part of the bizz. There's so much they want to do, or have done, but it's never gonna happen if they move forward. They look bored with this show. They might be fooling everyone else at SDCC or any other con out there, but that doesn't mean as grown men whom have surpassed their WB stages, that they don't wanna go beyond this show.
It's great that as actors they wanna keep with the network that started them off. Woopty f*ucking doo. But every actor/actress moves on from it. And this is their time. Not saying they can't come back, b/c everyone does eventually, but this chapter is closed.
What exactly did they set up for next season? Dean is a demon? That will be a B-plot. They didn't even let Dean do any carnage with the Blade, and they aren't going to turn him into a bad guy. Dean would look ridiculous out hunting monsters when he is one himself -- even if they make him a good, sympathetic monsters (as they did Garth and others whom I don't remember now -- because they were so unmemorable). Will it be the budding bromance between Crowley and Dean, while Sam vies for Dean's attention, while we have a B-plot of Cas trying to get his grace and his budding soon-to-be-love interest with the flip-flopping Hannah? Riveting. I did not see any set-up for a season's arc, and I venture to say that is because there has been no thought to next season's story. What we got was an "Oh, wow!" moment, just as we have had several of this season and they all went nowhere (i.e., the MoC).
Dean IS the demon in this case. Cain warned him that there was a cost for wielding the Mark and the Blade...all this time we thought it was making him like killing more, but that was something that was always inside Dean and has been apparent for quite a long time now. Like Cain, Dean is now immortal and possessed with the urge to kill much like Cain. I think the demon aspect is so his humanity can no longer get in the way. But Dean as a demon will never just be "run of the mill".
Nice for you to decide for them when to move on from Supernatural. Just because you want it to finish next season doesn't mean it will or that everyone feels that way.
It's not b/c i want anything. it's b/c it's necessary. And you'd be surprised how many people actually feel the same say. And if/when it is time for them to end the series. i will be saying good for them, they had a good run. But good for them, now they can move on with their careers. Duh that's the whole purpose of it all.
I agree there were several very good eps in S8, but I just could not get past what they did to Sam, that left a very bad taste and I can not get over it, so that whole season is one I don't want to watch again.
Other than the fact that Jared, Jensen, Misha and Mark all broke my heart and made me cry for hours.... I loved it. I know they introduced the demon cure thing.. but I was crying because Sam had been trying to help Dean and was helpless all along, and when Dean became a vampire that was his worst nightmare........ Him being a demon was his greatest fear, he's now part of the species that got him into this whole hunting business in the first place, his mum and dad got killed by demon and now he's part of them and that's what hurts me the most... ya feel me? I'm still crying! JERMEY'S PAYING FOR MY THERAPY.
Well, Well, lol....what a funny Q is this and I think its ans is also funny.....Supernatural is natural because it is made by or gifted by Jesus or God whereas Miracles are beyond my knowledge and my thinking boundaries. I always puzzled while reading this article http://bit.ly/newsprob and couldn't understand yet.
What we got was an "Oh, wow!" moment, just as we have had several of this season and they all went nowhere (i.e., the MoC).
The MoC led to Dean losing his self-control and dying and becoming a demon.
What exactly did they set up for next season?
Dean realizing he's a demon. How this changes him. His relationship with Crowley. How Cas and Sam now see him. Sam trying to cure him. Cas' grace. Metatron will probably be back too, although I hope he isn't.
This has to change things for at least a while as they can't really do MOTW episodes with Dean as a demon. So at least 3-4-5 episodes in a row have to be different. Or I think so anyway. We'll see.
Idk, that's how I'm rationalising this to myself, which isn't all that difficult tbh as I WOULD have said that. If I was desperately trying to get my crazed brother's attention back to the task we've set for ourselves, I'd have classified anyone helping us as a 'friend'. :D
How do you get those italics on here? I'll just have to answer point-by-point.
Dean did not lose control. What he did was chose to die to keep from becoming a demon. He stalled Metatron long enough for Cas to destory the angel tablet and de-power Metatron so that Metatron could be killed. Dean expected to die, and he did. He did not expect to come back to life as the very thing that had destroyed his life and that he hunted. Cas chose not to kill Metatron; therefore, Metatron won and is left to yap, yap, yap another eason.
Changing Dean into a demon actually destroyed the past nine-years of him as the protagonist of the show. He is now the “big bad” so to speak. Changed landscape. Next season will mean that all of Dean’s relationships change, starting with his budding bromance with Crowley and Sam’s budding bromance with Cas. Sam cannot cure Dean, because Dean is not ossessed. He just is.
I don’t know if there is a plan. There was not one this year, based on what I watched. However, I can see the change being permanent with a change in Sam made in S10, so both characters will be different and Carver can take the show beyond S11 in whatever manner he wants.
When I say the landscape has changed, what I mean is that TPTB have made a strategic business decision to to after those 15-16 year olds that Misha talked about in his EW (I think it was) interview.
Going after that target audience, which only requires teen angst, hand-wringing, lots of tears, endless exposition to tell the viewers what is going on, and big "Oh, wow!" moments means that they are making Supernatural "a brand," with years and years of money to be made.
It's a good business move, and it is easier for the writers. They don't have to make a season's plan, structure a story, or plot and pace that story out. They don't have to pay attention to things like canon and characterization. All that is required for these young viewers is melodrama with lots of “feelings.” We had the destruction of the brothers’ relationship in S8, the coming-of-age story in S9, and Dean’s demon story will be a wider ‘relationship’ problem for all parties concerned in S10. We have seen this shift over the last two years. The stories have been dumbed down, the characters have been dumped down, prior canon trashed, and there has been a dumbing down of the dialogue with misplaced cultural references straight out of Hollywood, and references to current events and movies…movies the younger viewers would be aware of.
As a viewer, I feel discarded. We older viewers who have stuck with the show — actually kept in on for all these years — are no longer valued and it becomes our choice whether to drop it or keep watching. I have corresponded for years with six other people who, like me, started with the show and have never missed an episode. One quit last year, but reads reviews. One catches a few episodes, based on our conversation. Two have said they won’t be back for S10. Two of us are still considering. I think I will probably catch the premiere, the mid-season finale, and the finale and read reviews in between. That will tell me the Winchester story in full.
Its still strong for the CW, I think only TVD gets higher numbers but Supernatural brings in more green. they sell boot loads of Supernatural gear at shows.
I think that it was a great episode, the only thing that's bothering me is that Dean was and is always the good brother to me, and becoming a demon is hindering that. I mean we all know that Sam and Cas has flaws and sometimes evil, but Dean was the one who saved them. Now he needs to be saved, only he he wants to be. I don't know, maybe I'm overthinking it, but I'm not sure that I'm gonna like where next season is going. Don't get me wrong, I'm happy that something is finally happening to Dean and that he finally has a full whole story wrapped around him, but a Demon? I mean come on, I know that the hallucination said that he wouldn't escape is future, and a Demon is what he was gonna become. But that means that Dean wasn't supposed to be an Angel Vessel. Both Sam and Dean are supposed to be Demons. Sam as lucifer, and Dean as a knight of hell. There's supposed to be a good brother and an evil one, at least how Kripke made season 1-5 seem. Just my opinion, I don't mean to offend anyone.
How do you get those italics on here? I'll just have to answer point-by-point.
You put the < bracket, then i, then the > bracket, then your text, then < and / and i and > .
Dean did not lose control.
He was no longer able to stop himself from bloodlust and wanting to kill, which he told Crowley.
Changing Dean into a demon actually destroyed the past nine-years of him as the protagonist of the show. He is now the “big bad” so to speak
I don't think he will be a big bad any more than, say, Willow was a big bad on Buffy. I don't think they'll have him go that far. He will probably be cured, or learn to control his abilities and adapt to the changes. We'll probably get a reverse of the moments where friends and family nearly killed him but stopped themselves.
That's a fair point. I guess to me, the show has kind of been this way for many years now. I feel like the show made a choice to move into the "oh my feels" melodramatic area around the end of season 2, and has often sort of cashed out on these emotional moments in lieu of plot or consistency ever since. The show has also been overindulging in dated pop culture references for quite a while now. I actually feel like that was much stronger several seasons ago (remember when they put so much focus on letting us know that they were making fun of Twilight?) than now, as their current pop culture references, like Game of Thrones, are more adult.
I'm not so sure it's about 15-16 year olds, as the show has no teenage characters (they killed off their only teenage character), but I don't know.
I can see why a lot of longtime viewers feel like the show doesn't speak to them anymore. Speaking as a longtime viewer, I do wish they had more respect for the early days. When they bring back female characters of the past just to kill them off, I feel betrayed. And I think they've done a terrible job with the Dean and Sam relationship and Sam's character in general. I guess for me, these are longstanding problems, going back to about season 4 (canon issues and dumbed down writing starting not long after that), so I don't feel the sense of betrayal that others do. But if people feel betrayed I totally understand why they want to move on.
Dean's not possessed, because of the anti-possession tattoo. His soul is still in him and he didn't spend centuries in Hell for it to be corrupted. He also can't be cured, because the one being cured has to express remorse, regret, guilt to become fully human again. Dean's has felt all of those things since he was four years old. Nobody knows what is going on with Dean, because the writers have not explained how the Mark works or it's relationship to the First Blade. This all means the writers can come up with anything, depending on what story they decide to tell.
<[i] He was no longer able to stop himself from bloodlust and wanting to kill, which he told Crowley But Dean did not do anything to satisfy the bloodlust. He attached Gadreel and, fortunately, was stopped by Sam and Cas. When he went to meet Metatron, he didn't go nuts. In fact, from the look on Dean's face when Metatron told him about Cas and Sam trying to stop things (sorry, can't remember the wording per se at the moment), Dean went into a stalling mode to give them time to de-power Metatron. That was my reading of the scene anyway.
Good episode but I hope we don't get more of the same storyline next year. I'd like more creatures not just angels and demons. It's all the same. I can see Dean being a demon for half of the season and then he's trying to kill Metatron AGAIN for the other half. I want more standalone episodes
I hate how toothless the dialog is whenever a character is arguing with Metatron. Because 90% of what Metatron says is absolute bullshit and it would be so easy to frame a near perfect argument against him - a child could argue with him better than these characters do, from so many angles and so many POVs because Metatron is so wrong. It frustrates me that every time Metatron opens his stupid mouth and spouts the same old bullshit, my favorite characters just sit there and take it or have weak comebacks. It's almost unrealistic..
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
saw that coming didn't need 55mins of nothingness to get there.........
ReplyDeleteDemonDean - I am guessing that the way to cure a demon won't work. I am glad that Sammy was willing to do whatever to bring Dean back. But what are they going to say about the last two seasons?
ReplyDeleteSo Demon!Dean is now official... I can't deal with so many feelings right now! Great finale!!!
ReplyDeleteOH GOD, THEY REALLY DID IT. THEY ACTUALLY WENT THERE AND OH GOD.
ReplyDeleteAt least one of the brothers didn't kill the other, though.
ReplyDeleteBit disappointed that it was so predictable but it was still good. Needed a lot less angel chat and more Sam and Dean but here we are, cautiously interested in seeing where this goes in S10.
ReplyDeleteBest episode in a long while.
ReplyDeleteAwesome finale!
ReplyDelete"I'm proud of us." Yup, and that's when I started to break down and cry uncontrollably. Holy shit, that hurt a lot.
And it was obvious Dean was going to become a demon but that final shot of him opening his eyes and seeing they were pitch black still made my jaw drop.
Season 10 is going to be very interesting.
ReplyDeleteSuper finale, wonder if I will like Demon Dean as much as I did Feral Dean. Loved the crack about People's Choice Award..lol at that.
ReplyDeleteWill watch tomorrow with CC on to make sure I did not miss anything.
Carver please just stay a writer and stop trying to be a show runner.
I'm just glad I left the comment sections a while ago , loosing interest in the Season, cause I didn't see it coming 'til when Crowley started talking....dammit , so many feelings
ReplyDeleteSh*t! Sh*t! Yes I knew Dean Demon Woooohoooo, amazing episode, dude I screamed so loud when Dean opened his eyes that woke my brother kkkkkkkkkkkkk
ReplyDelete... http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-xnHOo29ELoc/UkmX99PhWEI/AAAAAAAABFY/3X87OgcpUhE/s1600/tumblr_m6t87kR7Wd1ryqe5xo2_250.gif
A few things:
ReplyDelete1.
Sandra
Another point is that I thought Sam was over the "do wherever needs to do to bring my brother back".It didn't make sense to me.
ReplyDeleteGood point…hopefully they'll touch on that in Season 10. Sam was wrong when he said he wouldn't do everything he could to bring his bother back. I see what you did there, writers!
ReplyDeleteCouldn't he, somehow, be a good demon? Weren't there demons who despised Crowley and tried to get away from him? Yes, they still had quotas to fill but they tried to do good. Maybe Dean can somehow be a goodish demon.
ReplyDeleteIf the show can have decent quality (and I do think it still does sometimes) I don't mind going past season 10. I don't think it will happen (they will have tough competition in SHIELD next season, and the ratings for the CW are dropping so that includes SPN), but if next season is OK I wouldn't mind a season 11. I just want more respect in the writing for all the characters, and more diversity.
ReplyDeleteI just think Sam doing that made the his whole first half season 8 storyline pointless.
ReplyDeleteTake Metatron's….two birds, one stone. Just saying.
ReplyDeleteI thought they tried the "good" demon route with Ruby and it turned out you really can't have a good demon.
ReplyDeleteWell there was Cain.
ReplyDeleteWe don't know yet.
ReplyDeleteWho was so desperate that he couldnt kill himself. I see awful things for Dean when he gets his humanity back.
ReplyDeleteBut was he "good"? I thought he removed himself from society so he wouldn't be temped to kill and do demon-y things.
ReplyDeletewas it just me or was crowley tearing up, no that's crazy maybe i was, holy crap what a season finale and NOOOOO dean you're supposed to be human not a demon, i was surprised castiel let metatron live and sorry castiel it's too late for you to just be an angel and wow i guess gadreel redeemed himself, i still hate him for kevin but at least he saved castiel and i still love pop-culture savvy castiel LOL
ReplyDeleteThat's what I thought too.
ReplyDeleteHaha! That would be awesome!
ReplyDeleteIf he is going to be a regular next season, I don't think he will be getting it back anytime soon. Maybe at the end of season 10?
ReplyDeleteActually, they came closer with Meg then Ruby. Ruby was always evil, Meg showed some true redeeming qualities. For a demon at least.
ReplyDeleteMy theory on why the demon cure won't work?
ReplyDeleteMe too. I feel the same in the end. It all depends on how they write next season.
ReplyDeleteHeck, the fact that the possession was reduced to "sharing a house" and Sam called Gadreel a "real friend" invalidates, in my mind, the entire first half of the season!
ReplyDeleteI think they are setting up Dean with Crowley and Castiel with Sam. With that, maybe we get Dean interacting with some other demons or doing not so good things with them. The big question is what they are going to do with Sam? He needs more characters to interact too.
ReplyDeleteYeah I couldn't believe my ears that Sam included Gadreel in the friend line. I was like WTF? He may have been an Allie to them at that point, but it didn't make him a friend of any kind.
ReplyDeleteThe "real friend" comment wasa little too much.
ReplyDeleteAs was the storyline about the trials; pointless. It's a word that has, unfortunately, synonymous with Sam.
ReplyDeleteThe big question is what they are going to do with Sam?
ReplyDeleteNot much I fear. Not much at all.
I believe so. IT hasn't been officially confirmed. But i'm 90% sure it definitely will be the last. Like for real this time.
ReplyDeleteI see a pattern here: the whole angelic possession thing was to get Dean to a point to accept the MoC, then becoming a demon.
ReplyDeleteThe trials only importance was for Sam to learn how to cure a demon, so he could do it with his brother.
I know, right? !?!?! My jaw literally dropped at that line! I couldn't believe Carver wrote that!
ReplyDeleteSad, but true!
ReplyDeleteI actually thought Dean was somehow going to go to Heaven being that he has already spent time in both hell and purgatory - a well travelled soul - so him turning into a demon was not expected at all for me.
ReplyDeleteThat's what I think will happen too if this Demon! Dean plot is carried out over the entirety of next season though I can't see it lasting that long.
ReplyDeleteDean becoming demon was predictable. Metatron killing him was a little shocking. Sam calling Gadreel a "real friend" was the great shocker.
ReplyDeleteLOL! I completely agree. That Gadreel line was the true shocker of the evening for me!
ReplyDeleteA few things:
ReplyDeleteThe worst big bad character SPN has ever had, and we have him back for S10...and he killed Dean Winchester.
ReplyDeleteExcept curing a demon would mean Sam possibly dies. He can't undo having done the first two trials. And as much as I'd love to see Sam doe to save Dean I don't think it's going to happen.
ReplyDeleteAOS is moving to 9? I guess I'll be recording this show then. I've hated each Carver season more than the previous one so that does not bode well for next year.
ReplyDeleteHe only dies if he says those words after completing a trial.
ReplyDeleteHe may IF the DD plot lasts all year AND it's the final season, which it could be.
ReplyDeletecould someone tell me dean said to sam before dying? I didn't understand...
ReplyDeleteGadreel was a real friend because he was helping them at risk to himself. I don't think Sam had forgotten what he'd done though. During that conversation he described to Dean in great detail (moreso than usual) just how violated he felt by that deal.
ReplyDeleteHe said, "I'm proud of us." It was really very sweet!
ReplyDeleteI wasn't shocked. Sam tends to forgive or move on to get the job done. Cas just about killed him and he was praying to him only an episode or two later.
ReplyDeleteThe CW's overall ratings were actually up 14 or 15% this season.
ReplyDeleteGood point. I was mostly thinking of the back half.
ReplyDeleteOkay, this is really creepy. Why in the hell is your comment the same as mine? Uhhhh....
ReplyDeleteTrue, but it was just odd to hear from Sam's mouth. I don't think the word "friend" would apply to Gadreel no matter how much he's currently helping them.
ReplyDeleteI think this is the chance to finally give Sam more of that lead hero role. Dean is going to either be an enemy or someone who needs help. Cas is dying. Sam's the strongest.
ReplyDeleteIt was odd, but I think he was just trying to get to Dean and get them all to work together. For the most part I thought they got Sam right in the episode.
ReplyDeleteTrue, but he knew Cas a lot longer than Gadreel, and he and Cas had worked together as allies before Cas betrayed him. Cas and Gadreel can't be compared IMO.
ReplyDeleteI hope so Peter but somehow I don't see this happening at all.
ReplyDeleteThat was an average finale. It doesn't entirely have the emotional grandeur of one of the most previous season finales. The twist about Demon Dean was surprising but leaves me a bit frustrated knowing this will lead to more brotherly tension like there hasn't been enough this season.
ReplyDeletehttp://spoilers.tv.br/wp-content/uploads/2014/01/tumblr_inline_muv6tklPsc1rs1hom.gif
ReplyDeleteJeremy Carver, CW, and Jared and Jensen have all said they're fine with going on. I still think season 10 will be it, just based on the new competition from SHIELD and the CW having new shows coming along, but the door has been left open.
ReplyDeleteThat's true. I was just comparing Sam's ability to move on when he has to (whether it's healthy or not). If anything Cas being closer to him should have angered him even more, but he didn't let that happen.
ReplyDeleteWeren't saying the words part of curing the demon, not the trials themselves? Sam didn't say the words over Crowley so he wasn't cured.
ReplyDeleteCain wasn't "good," but he learned to control himself and was capable of altruism and relative kindness in the episode he was in.
ReplyDeleteBy the way can someone give me a summary of what Crowley said to Dean at the end please? There was some kind of noise around here that made difficult to get the scene.
ReplyDeleteSam does seem to forgive a bit easily. I guess I just can't move past how angry they had Sam about the possession and the psycho angel, and then with a snap of the fingers, Gadreel is their misunderstood friend and ally?!?!? Really?!?!
ReplyDeleteMetatron isn't a big bad. He never was. He's a headcase but he's not good enough to be a villain. I feel like we saw that again in this episode. I am hoping if he's back it's just briefly to tie up loose ends.
ReplyDeleteI still feel like we're heading to Crowley's final downfall.
I wish they'd kept Abaddon, but I think this was a decent ending for Gadreel.
I guess to me he was still angry (he seemed angrier here than he's been in a while), but not interested in facing it while their backs were against the wall. If Gadreel had lived then I think things would have been very strained.
ReplyDeleteI can't remember it word for word, but he said something about being sorry, that he didn't intend for Dean to die, that Sam was going to be angry with him, that Cain killed himself because he couldn't live with the MOC, that Cain didn't die, and then he called for Dean to wake up and see through his eyes.
ReplyDeleteHopefully, someone will post the transcript.
He also said something about how patterns were repeating themselves (the deal Sam was trying to make).
ReplyDeleteThank you so much lala.
ReplyDeleteNo problem :-)
ReplyDeleteHopefully, my memory didn’t fail me. Haha!
Thank you too Peter.
ReplyDeleteAhhh . . . . . yes. And he referenced something he said at the restaurant.
ReplyDeleteAnd I don't think anything will ever be resolved between the brothers as long as Dean thinks he has the right to dictate Sam's free will. We saw it again in this episode. Sam is a person, not a role. Maybe if Sam cures Dean, or dies to save Dean or hunts perfectly well without him (and we saw him do that last season), Dean might accept him as an equal and things will be okay between them.
ReplyDeleteOh and he said, "Let's go howl at the moon," which I thought was a really cool line.
ReplyDeleteWhich confirms that will be a Dean and a Crowley partnership next season.
ReplyDeleteGotta admit, I was exalted while watching, still it was very obvious what was gonna happen at the end. Really liked this episode and suddenly I remembered Bobby's comment to Dean... ''How is it... that half the time you clean a mess, you end up dirty?'' :p
ReplyDeleteThis is the only series I know that can recycle its own storyline three times.
ReplyDeleteIf they really want to keep things going, don't cure Dean. Heck, if he needs to be tamed it would make for a better story.
I am getting Madoka magica vibes from this.
WELL A NEW GAME CHANGER YEHHHHH AND NOOOO LOL
ReplyDeleteWell i dont know what to say i was s shocked when dean got stabbed yet funny enough i have saw him die over and over but i was expecting him to win the fight i guess....Also the end hhdedhdehehfehofeufueffoh NO WAY !!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI saw that coming but HOLY SHIT, that was AWESOME!!
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed the little brotherly moment.
Season 10 come to me now!!
I couldn't care less about them either, but they're one of the big factors in whether the show continues on. So that's why I mentioned them.
ReplyDeleteI don't think we'll get a season 11 either, but for now, they're saying it could happen.
WTF!!!
ReplyDeleteSaw it coming. Hated that Metatron's still alive and that Dean didn't get to FB him. But, overall, I thought it was a great episode and that acting was superb.
ReplyDeleteWELL THATS A GAME CHANGER YOU KNOW WHAT YOU GUYS HAVE BEEN WANTING A FRESH STORY ...WELL HERE IT IS I DONT UNDERSTAND ...
ReplyDeleteAnyways i loved this episode was it THE BEST no swan song and all hell breaks loss part 2 are still winning the race , but jared was right that its a game changer and WOW and chilling .The way dean was killed was so chilling and tragic and i just hope he stays a villian otherwise i wont like the story as there is no point to it .
*Dean stays! a demon for at least the first half of the seaso
*Sam tries to save Dean for a change
*MORE ACTION LESS FILLERS
*More darkness
*Maetrona or whatever dies
season 10 needs to b the final season. bring back God and the Devil and end everything right
ReplyDeleteNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
ReplyDeleteDean
I'm done. This season has been a trainwreck and the season finale was completely unfulfilling. Castiel should have killed Metatron and taken his grace back. Dean dying ... imagine that. A Winchester dying in a season finale ... how original. The whole him turning into a demon was not the hype that people are making it out to be.
ReplyDeleteYeah there won't be a good demon scenario on this series. Cain isn't good he was just contained by the love he felt for a human female. He still had the urge to be evil in him ... and who could blame him.
ReplyDeleteI think this is the first time a brother has died since season 5.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad Metatron didn't die, just because I don't think he deserves even that moment in the sun - I just hope they keep him locked away.
Is Dean still dead by the time the episode ends? I haven't watched it and I'm debating whether I should :/
ReplyDeleteHe's a demon at the end.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed this episode. I thought it was one of the better episodes this season, and had some wonderful acting across the board. I thought some of the stories, like Gadreel's, were tied up well enough. And there are a lot of possibilities for next season.
ReplyDeleteI don't care that Dean being a demon was predictable, as I'm mostly just happy that they set it up so well.
CALLED IT, I am so freaking happy and excited, good job, Season 9.
ReplyDeleteTbh, I thought that Sam was purposefully downplaying the possession to discourage Dean from going after Gadreel, whom they NEEDED. Imo he didn't mean what he said, it was the case of saying what's necessary to get Dean to step back.
ReplyDeleteWorst season finale ever.
ReplyDeletex
Predictable and boring, saved only by the few brother scenes.
It's funny how all the wannabee gods first begin with being so sweet to humanity then turning against them just like Castiel did.
x
Then we should hold a yearly contest for all angels.
Whoever gets to beat up and mash Dean's face the most, gets the 'Angel People's Award ' for best composition of blood splatter on Dean's face!
x
The only great scenes were those between the brothers as it has always been and will always continue to be.
Those are what has kept Supernatural on the air,Carver, and only those; which you continue to push to the side!
X
All in all a meh episode, not deserving to be classed a supernatural finale.
X
Dean is now Crowley's minion. Poor Dean. He deserved better.
X
So in season ten we can look forward to more boring angels, and now Carver doesn't even need the excuse of 'maturity' to tear apart the brothers ' bond.
ReplyDeletewell they introduced the cure last season and its what had me think deam was going to become a demon a few weeks back.
ReplyDeleteWith the cure, It might not work if hes a knight but it was working on Crowley and hes not your run of mill demon so you never know but it also opened up the fact that demons can be cured, they might just have to find away way to do it.
ReplyDeleteI think he would be more of a conflicted demon, he still had the urge to kill, he just did not want to. Its like Benny with human blood, he didn't want to drink but the urge was there.
ReplyDeleteHe mentioned Dean not being hungry.
ReplyDeleteI believe the "Let's go howl at the moon." line was a commentary on the current nature of the two characters.
- A king of Hell that has a bit of humanity.
- A knight of Hell that was Michael's vessel.
Both are "howling the moon" crazy.
That dialogue was extremely painful for me. Wasn't the Angel Tablet what gave Marv his power? Shouldn't have he been cut off when it broke?
ReplyDeleteDoesn't Sam still have a small bit of Gadreel inside hm?
ReplyDeleteThey don't get much other work. This may be the bread and butter for as long as it can be.
ReplyDeleteIt was finally good to see Sam in somewhat of a leader's role.
ReplyDeleteLousy finale. Can Dean cure Crowley? A little demon on demon curing going on while Cas and Sam work on sealing heaven, costing all of them their lives.
ReplyDeleteAnd then Lisa is at home with a three year old and fade to black.
Anti-possession tattoos no longer working?
ReplyDeleteDean wasn't possessed. He became a demon.
ReplyDeleteVery predictable finale with a ending that can make or break next season!!
ReplyDeletewhat does that mean exactly? Dean's soul gone permanently or we will see him getting back into himself within next 2 episodes next season.I'm guessing the latter!!
ReplyDeleteI am one fan who disagrees with that. I have loved this season and all the other seasons for that matter. I hope it continues for a long while. From what I understand Carver has plans for going beyond season 10 and the President of the CW seems to lean toward going beyond season 10. It is just up to the boys signing on and the ratings.
ReplyDeleteI do want the guys to be able to pick on Tom Welling a little. ;)
ReplyDeleteI think the word "friend" was to keep Dean from killing him.
ReplyDeleteI did not like season 8 at all, but this one has been much better..not great, but not totally awful.
ReplyDeleteSwan Song is my favorite also.
ReplyDeleteIts not they dont get other work but they dont have time for other work. Not many main characters on shows do other stuff as the.show takes up a lot if the year. If they stopped supernatural they would get other work.
ReplyDeleteI thought the episode was awesome.
ReplyDeleteIt shows that what sam thought he wanted he didnt. He realised why dean did what he did to save him as even though sam thought he could cope with dean dead he actually couldnt.
ReplyDeleteI loved that PCA line, it is just one more useless award, yes I love it when my guys win, but really it just means the "fans" have nothing better to do than vote over and over and over.
ReplyDeleteThe demon IS Dean... Just like Cain killed himself and became a demon. Maybe Dean will live forever like Cain...
ReplyDeleteLoved it! Everyone brought their A game and it was another amazing finale!! Well done, SPN!!
ReplyDeleteLoved it.
ReplyDeleteHe was stabbed in the chest by that angel blade. His body is definitely dead. Who knows what's going on w/his soul?
ReplyDeleteOh wow, I freaking loved this episode. Loved all the Dean/Crowley scenes I really am entertained by that buddy cop pairing. I also loved the Gadreel/Castiel partnership. Im really sad that Gadreel died and I'm pissed that Dean didn't get to kill Metatron but I'm ok with how everything went down.
ReplyDeleteI yelled at my TV twice tonight, once when Sam came running in during the Dean/ Metatron fight because I worried Sam was going to gank Metratron and the second time when Dean came back as a Demon.
ReplyDeleteMaybe you should stop watching the show if you don't enjoy it anymore.
ReplyDeleteHere's an audio recording if you're interested.
ReplyDeletehttp://blackblossom642.tumblr.com/post/86400279700/i-had-to-make-an-audio-from-it-its-bloody
Don't think your one of the odd ones out. Think lots of people loved it but it always seems to be the ones who don't like things that actually bother commenting on the episodes. The ones who like it don't appear to feel the need to let everyone else know that they loved it.
ReplyDeleteHOLLY CRAP!! Amazing! I can't wait to see Crowley Dean as demon buddies! Best finale of the season.
ReplyDeleteEven though this is an interesting way to see it, I wouldn't agree. I don't think they ever thought about making him a demon (in S9). At this time, Dean was about to get dragged to hell where he would eventually have become a demon. I think his hallucination back then was a manifestation of his fears during Season 3, unconnected to Season 9.
ReplyDeleteI would not rule it out, though.
ReplyDeleteOtherwise, it was ok.
ReplyDeleteCarver said he was changing the landscape, and he certainly has to the point that if I pick up the show next season, it will be the premiere and the finale and maybe read blogs in-between to see if anything out of the predictable happens.
ReplyDeleteWhat the episode did for me was to have it finally sink into my thick head that the long-time viewers are no longer of importance.
Yeh I agree if they play the demon thing out its good otherwise what's the point
ReplyDeleteI LOVED IT MUCH BETTER THAN S6 S7 S8
ReplyDeleteI think Dean is gone. He's a different type of demon yo so doudt it will be an easy fix
ReplyDeleteIm a loyal supernatural fan. I enjoy it and will always enjoy watching it (even the stale boring episodes.) To me this wasn't a fitting season finale but I personally and all I can hope is they make a better kick ass season next season with this new dean.
ReplyDeleteWhat did I think well WHY came to mind .
ReplyDeleteThe brother scene at the end was good and Jared can cry like nobody's business but Demon Dean really ?.
Everyone has their own tastes. I just haven't liked all the changes.
ReplyDeleteThat's b/c they're too busy with this show they're committed to this show.
ReplyDeleteIt's great that as actors they wanna keep with the network that started them off.
ReplyDeleteWill it be the budding bromance between Crowley and Dean, while Sam vies for Dean's attention, while we have a B-plot of Cas trying to get his grace and his budding soon-to-be-love interest with the flip-flopping Hannah?
ReplyDeleteNice for you to decide for them when to move on from Supernatural. Just because you want it to finish next season doesn't mean it will or that everyone feels that way.
ReplyDeleteIt's not b/c i want anything. it's b/c it's necessary. And you'd be surprised how many people actually feel the same say. And if/when it is time for them to end the series. i will be saying good for them, they had a good run. But good for them, now they can move on with their careers. Duh that's the whole purpose of it all.
ReplyDeleteBesides they are lucky to end the show on their terms and stuff. Not many shows in history are lucky enough to end on their terms.
ReplyDeleteExactly.
ReplyDeleteI agree there were several very good eps in S8, but I just could not get past what they did to Sam, that left a very bad taste and I can not get over it, so that whole season is one I don't want to watch again.
ReplyDeleteI hear ya! I wouldn't watch either of these seasons again!
ReplyDeleteOther than the fact that Jared, Jensen, Misha and Mark all broke my heart and made me cry for hours....
ReplyDeletewhy was my comment deleted? people couldn't handle the truth about the finale? smh
ReplyDeleteyou forget that Sam is very forgiving so the Gadreel thing got me too but that's Sam he forgives.
ReplyDeletetrue there are no great Ep this season and some good ones in season 8 the last part of the season not the 1st part that suck.
ReplyDeleteWell, Well, lol....what a funny Q is this and I think its ans is also funny.....Supernatural is natural because it is made by or gifted by Jesus or God whereas Miracles are beyond my knowledge and my thinking boundaries. I always puzzled while reading this article http://bit.ly/newsprob and couldn't understand yet.
ReplyDeleteDemon Dean = Deam.
ReplyDeleteDemon Dean = a hunters worst nightmare. I pity the fool that tries to hunt dean.
ReplyDeletecatch the former angel vessels and extract their left over grace and there's the short solution.
ReplyDeleteCas extracted it, I would say they will use that method to keep Cas topped up on grace.
ReplyDeleteDean and Crowley will be BFF's.
ReplyDeleteCertain changes are needed to keep the show from going stale but i agree some of the chances haven't worked.
ReplyDeleteThey also still have plans for a spin off, they are taking it back to storyboard after the bloodlines debacle.
ReplyDeleteI remember when season 5 was confirmed as the final season, 4 years on and they are still the CW's strongest show.
ReplyDeleteActually it was season 4, not 5...Terrible isn't it. I wouldn't say "strong", but it's still going on. But every series has its' limits.
ReplyDeleteWhat we got was an "Oh, wow!" moment, just as we have had several of this season and they all went nowhere (i.e., the MoC).
ReplyDeleteThe MoC led to Dean losing his self-control and dying and becoming a demon.
We'll see.
well, how could one expect a supernatural season finale without a dead winchester?
ReplyDeleteIdk, that's how I'm rationalising this to myself, which isn't all that difficult tbh as I WOULD have said that. If I was desperately trying to get my crazed brother's attention back to the task we've set for ourselves, I'd have classified anyone helping us as a 'friend'. :D
ReplyDeleteHow do you get those italics on here? I'll just have to answer point-by-point.
ReplyDeleteDean did not lose control. What he did was chose to die to keep from
becoming a demon.
There was not one this year, based on what I
watched.
Going after that target audience, which only requires teen angst, hand-wringing, lots of tears, endless exposition to tell the viewers what is going on, and big "Oh, wow!" moments means that they are making Supernatural "a
brand," with years and years of money to be made.
Meg was good after she met Cas
ReplyDeleteIts still strong for the CW, I think only TVD gets higher numbers but Supernatural brings in more green. they sell boot loads of Supernatural gear at shows.
ReplyDeleteI think that it was a great episode, the only thing that's bothering me is that Dean was and is always the good brother to me, and becoming a demon is hindering that. I mean we all know that Sam and Cas has flaws and sometimes evil, but Dean was the one who saved them. Now he needs to be saved, only he he wants to be.
ReplyDeleteI don't know, maybe I'm overthinking it, but I'm not sure that I'm gonna like where next season is going.
ReplyDeleteYou put the < bracket, then i, then the > bracket, then your text, then < and / and i and > .
When I say the landscape has changed, what I mean is that TPTB have made a strategic business decision to to after those 15-16 year olds that Misha talked about in his EW (I think it was) interview.
Going after that target audience, which only requires teen angst, hand-wringing, lots of tears, endless exposition to tell the viewers what is going on, and big "Oh, wow!" moments means that they are making Supernatural "a
brand," with years and years of money to be made.
That's great.
ReplyDeleteDean's not possessed, because of the anti-possession tattoo. His soul is still in him and he didn't spend centuries in Hell for it to be corrupted. He also can't be cured, because the one being cured has to express remorse, regret, guilt to become fully human again. Dean's has felt all of those things since he was four years old.
ReplyDeleteNobody knows what is going on with Dean, because the writers have not explained how the Mark works or it's relationship to the First Blade. This all means the writers can come up with anything, depending on what story they decide to tell.
<[i] He was no longer able to stop himself from bloodlust and wanting to kill, which he told Crowley
ReplyDeleteBut Dean did not do anything to satisfy the bloodlust.
ReplyDeleteI hate how toothless the dialog is whenever a character is arguing with Metatron.
ReplyDeleteor Deanmon
ReplyDelete
