I really liked it. How refreshing is it to have such a diverse cast and the lead isn't yet another white guy (score another for racial diversity on Fox). And with the struggle Ryan has with his cop family and his "familia", we can never be quite sure how things will go down. Which is good. I want to believe he has the good heart but this first ep shows the darkness that he's let in, too. I think Ramon Rodriguez really sells it, the playing both sides and not being sure where to land. So I dig it. And yeah yeah yeah I dig his face, too. What of it? Haha. They even let us see a little bit of everyone else in Vanessa, Tae, and Cassius. I hope people will tune in for Terry O'Quinn being involved and stick for the rest of the cast, all very worthy. And it's good to have a show I'm really looking forward to each week while most everything else isn't back until fall. I'll be around for the next 12 eps, for sure.
I like many of the actors so it was cool, there is gonna be the 2 sides drama in this, which is usually not fun, but the characters should make up for it.
I have so many shows I'm gonna be watching over the summer airing new eps it's gonna be hard to catch up with some fall seasons I meant to watch before the fall. :/
I gave it a shot, because of Terry O'Quinn. I liked some of the characters: The Captain, the 4 surviving main cops, the and the Latino crime boss. But much of the dialog was groan worthy. I have an open spot in my watchlist for the next 3 weeks, so i'll give it the 4 episode test.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
A little dry for a first episode, but I will give it a chance, there are not meany shows on in the summer

ReplyDeleteNow FOX just needs a good show with a bunch of hot Middle Eastern-ish and more Latino guys and I'll be set.
ReplyDeleteYeahhhh, something like Showtime's Sleeper Cell.
ReplyDeleteSo basically it's The Departed meets The Shield. At least Jay Karnes gets to play a cooler version of his character.
