This was an elegantly crafted season finale. While there was no real cliffhanger, this series proves that you don't need one to post some really intriguing questions for the season 3 premiere
yep will Sherlock go back to use heroin? Will Joan return to live with Sherlock again? Is his job with Mi6 permanent? or temporary? will mycroft be back?
The only thing I hate about this show is the drugs aspects, and the thought that A smart guy like Sherlock would know better, see all the outcomes of its use. But anyway that's that, I'm a little worried he will use again.
However besides that, another good episode, the finale not as cool as last one, because well last one had awesome Irene/Moriarty, but the last 4 episode make up for it with its slight serial aspect of the show, it was kind of nice seeing less of the police stuff, less of the interrogation room and all that. So I hope next season we get some more of that mid season or end season or even full season.
Mycroft had to leave their life somehow, so him leave the way he did, was expected. I wasn't to attached to the idea of him and Watson anyways, they can end up together if they want, but at this time just solve some cases. Oh and maybe after she moves out, I wonder if this Sherlock would practice disguises, like in the movies, those were always fun.
And finally it seems Sherlock will be working with MI6 some way next season, either by weekly case bases, or a growing arc for the season. I hope he sticks around and its not like most other shows, where he hangs with them for first few ep and then says bye bye. I guess the best option is working with them on the l long run on a bigger case while still solving cases NYPD cases.
Oh and hope to see Irene/Moriarty next season, she did see would be out soon. I admit I kind of expected her to appear in each of the last 3 episode, because of the titles, "Paint"-she paints "Art"- she paints art "Experiment"- she and Sherlock were experimenting about love. anyway next season come back.
Loved the entire episode until he grabbed the heroin :( well, grabbed it and didn't immediately flush it. I understand though that this is his way of 'dealing' and the struggle with his demons and personal growth and character are what makes this show so amazing. I just hope if he falls again it's doesn't take too long to pick himself back up. I also hope Joan stands her ground and tells him to stop using her as a crutch. He needs to find his own strength. That's when he will really be free.
The show's done a pretty good job of showing that it's not a matter of being intelligent or 'rising above it all' in order to beat addiction though? It makes sense; when you become addicted to something, it causes pain when you stop. I imagine it's like trying not to eat something when you've been without food for a while, your stomach acid physically causing you pain etc. Only it's worse I guess, 'cos addiction affects the brain and that's not really something you can ignore in quite teh same manner as a growling stomach?
I can understand why you don't want Sherlock to do drugs, I do. But I guess, I don't understand, why, after all this show's done regarding the subject, you think it's a matter of just being smart enough to 'know' better?
If I've misinterpreted what you're trying to say, then I apologise. I guess the way you phrased things kinda rubbed me the wrong way.
Yes the show has done a great job on that, because of it I was able to watch it with great joy each week. I was just trying to say I guess, when shows deals with drugs addictions of characters it one of those things I don't like to see, but I guess it makes them real.
When he went and took out the drugs, I thought for sure he's going to use it to blackmail Joan into staying. I wouldn't put it past him in doing something like that.
I don't like the idea of him working with the MI6. It's not Sherlock so I'm wondering if there's an ulterior motive. And how does him pocketing the drugs tie into this (if it does at all).
Really glad that Joan moved out. I thought after what Mycroft did, she'll change her mind and stay for Sherlock (to make sure he's ok, etc). So glad she didn't back out of it. Her speech about her orbiting Sherlock was spot on. I hope this would make the writers write some proper back/story for her next season. Maybe a JoanBell romance in the cards? Hehe.
I'm finally caught up with this show, after a marathon of seasons 1 and 2. I like it. My favorite part of the show is the deductive reasoning aspects of each case. I like that I get to learn new, interesting facts from several of the episodes I've seen.
The characters are pretty good as well. I sometimes think they lay it on thick in regards to Sherlock and Joan's relationship, but aside of the cheese factor, I generally like their friendship. I also really enjoy each of their friendships with Gregson, and sometimes Bell. I really enjoyed the Irene/Moriarty episodes. Moriarty is my favorite guest/recurring star. I love her relationship with Sherlock.
I thought this season's finale wasn't as good as season one's finale, but that could be just because I like Moriarty so much. The MI-6 storyline, involving Mycroft, was interesting and well done though. This season finale was entertaining. I'm also glad that Mycroft isn't a bad guy, but ultimately a good brother to Sherlock. I'm still wondering what will become of that scene at the end with Sherlock grabbing that piece of heroin. Sherlock can be such a petulant child oftentimes. It seems like he is joining MI-6 and presumably goes off to London, and may take up drugs again, just because Joan moving is out. Although, knowing that Mycroft was with MI-6 because of Sherlock, and add that knowledge to Joan moving out, then I guess I can see why Sherlock's fragile state could lead him to his season-ending decisions. Still, after the marathon of both seasons, I've left liking this show, and being entertained by it. I'm looking forward to next season.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
It appears Holmes will no longer be working with Joan and might be using heroin again. Will this MI-6 employment stick during Season 3?

You'd be amazed at how many "Smart" people are addicted to drugs.
