It was really good from scene one to the closing moments with Oliver in Honk Kong. Harley Quinn is on the lose with many other villians so it set up a solid season3 foundation the only thing I would wish happened a more ground breaking development for Laurel. Hope the writers won't forget her in s3 again.
Great season finale! The strongest reaction I had was about Thea. Someone should tell her the world doesn't revolve around her and her hurt feelings. Not everything is about her, but she is too busy wallowing in her own self-pity to see it. So now Thea leaves with a man she knows is a murderer than stay with the brother who loves her and would die for her. Good luck Thea because you're going to need it.
I hate to see Sara leave, but if that's the destiny she chooses then so be it. Looks like Laurel will become the Black Canary sooner than later. I really hope Det. Lance survives because he adds a much needed perspective to this show.
Now for Team Arrow. I don't know if Roy will continue with the team or not. I wonder if Diggle will stay as well now that he will become a father. I heard a roaring scream of joy from the Olicity shippers when Oliver told Felicity he loved her. Then we find out it was all part of a plan. Good on Felicity for not only understanding Oliver's plan, but for actually pulling it off. I only hope that sly smile Oliver gave Felicity on the island was another unspoken code. A code that silently says Felicity you don't have to play games to find out the truth of how I, you know I love you. If only ... if only.
It was EXCELLENT. But man did that Oliver/Felicity fakeout leave me dying. Talk about emotional whiplash! No but seriously, this slowburn is killing me.
Amazing episode! So excited to see where Season 3 takes us! I loved that they set up Laurel's storyline on becoming Canary. Liked they didn't have to kill off Sara to do so. Liked Oliver and Felicity's interaction (sorry Olicity shippers, I still think they are more of a Harry and Hermione deal, but the moments were nice)...thought it was really clever how he tricked Slade. I feel so bad for Roy. And Diggle, well, he seems to be doing alright. Finally...AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA QUENTIN...........NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Also, Thea!!! Why?! I can't help but feel awful for her...I mean she believes that everyone she's ever cared about has lied to her...I really don't want her to end up a villain now that she's teamed up with Merlyn...I'm guessing this is where she gets trained to become Speedy...but hopefully she'll join Oliver by this time next year!
- I love the irony of Slade being imprisoned on the island! XD - I'm glad they closed the island flashbacks chapter. We still need the flashbacks since that is how the show is designed, but they covered the island stuff well enough. Time to move on! - I hope Quentin Lance is not dead, the show needs some mature supporting actors on it to anchor scenes and many have been killed off (disappeared, imprisoned etc) this year. - Incredible fight scenes as usual.
THAT WAS MEAN!!! THE WRITERS ARE MEAN!!! But i'm not even mad though, b/c THAT was really good! And then when they talked it over, i felt much better!! It's there. It's totally there, I can wait. Nooo problem. Just 5 more months, it's only a matter of time. Okay......
THAT WAS AMAZING!!! AND DID YOU GUYS SEE THAT FLASH PROMO!?!? Omg! Totally geeked out!! Barry: " YEAHH ALRIGHT WHOOO." Oliver: "SHOW OFF!" AHHH!!!! That was awesome!! AND I CALLED IT!! I TOLD YOU GUYS THEA SHOT HIM AND THAT HE WAS WEARING KEVALAR!!! And whoever called that Thea would go with Malcolm...GOOD CALL!! I felt her note to Roy was forshadowing, with the "I'm no longer Thea Queen" I'm thinking she'll be Mia I think she'll adopt the name, and come back as Speedy!! That would pretty sick! (ya know w/o the prostitution).
That rumble was amazing!! Loved every bit of it!! Hell yeah Roy!!! Remember his training! That's how you do it! Sara, Nyssa, Diggle, LOA!! MIND BLOWN! That whole thing gave me shivers! AND OLIVER KICKED SLADE'S ASS!! And we FINALLY got to see the arrow through his eye! Yess!! That whole sequence with the back and fourth, i loved that. That was very well done!! OMG!! DID YOU SEE THAT PRISON?!?!? That is crazyyyyy!!! What! ARGUS doesn't play. I think that's genius! I'm sorry but for a minute i was thinking, Pleasseeee Arkham Asylum! LOL I know it was a long shot, but that would've been sweet.
I loved Team Arrow tonight...THE MAIN TEAM ARROW!! Those three kill me! I can't get enough of them! CONGRATS TO DIGGLE!!! AWWWW!!! But i fear now, that that'll mean he has to leave at the end of season 3, and someone else will take his spot....temporarily. I hope i'm wrong! FELECITY FREAKING SMOAK!! HELL YEAH!! She was a soldier tonight!! I loved when Nyssa introduced herself to Felicity. "I am Nyssa Al Ghul. Daughter of Ras Al Ghul LOA." "Felicity Smoak. M.I.T. Class of 09." Hahaha that was funny. Loved the advice she gave to Ollie about him out thinking Slade. And i thought it was a good approach. But Fuuuuuuu!!! That's Olicity scene killed me!! Then the last scene killed me. And i was all Olicity'd out by the time it was all over. lol
Sara lives!!! Yes!!! See this is why i DON'T read spoilers, or listen to ANYBODY when it comes to the Season Finale (or certain shows). I go with the program and see for myself, and i am SO HAPPY she is alive! I'll admit that when she went back to the LOA i felt the boat was gonna blow, b/c they concentrated on Laurel and Quentin for too long, and i was getting nervous. But OH NO QUENTIN!! Wth was that??? This fan is NOT happy about that. Damn Slade solider!! Ugh!!
When Diggle went to but out the Deadshot and the others, was anyone else hoping that we'd see Harley again? Hahaha i was staring at the right side of the hall sooo hard, just looking at the door, waiting for them to open her door, and she'd bust out doing cartwheels! Literally!! LOL God they really need to get her back.
Overall this episode was great. Very good season finale. And i can't wait til season 3. I love this show!!!
DUDE I WAS SCREAMING SO HARD!! And then when he looked at her, and i saw it in her hand. I said ARE YOU SERIOUS!! YOU GUYS ARE MEAN!! AND EVEN MEANER B/C SHE THOUGHT OLLIE WAS TELLING THE TRUTH!! Ugh! My heart broke sooo bad. Even worse if they would've kissed...WHICH I AM SO GLAD THEY DIDN'T! But they're talk at the end (swoon, hands on chest) there was chemistry and Ollie didn't address is really, but addressed it sort of, and i thought that was perfect. I love their eye-acting towards one another. It's all in the eyes. Sigh. I think i'm going to go watch those scenes again!! Shannon out!!
WHEN THEY WERE ON THE ISLAND I WAS SCREAMING "KISS KISS KISS!!!!" MY FIANCE THOUGHT I WAS INSANE. No but seriously, that smile he gave her at the end... He totally digs her. ALSO I will go to my grave believing that Oliver is a horrendous liar, so there's some truth to his words.
FELICITY WAS TOTALLY ON BOARD THOUGH. UGH I HATE THIS SHOW. BUT I LOVE IT.
MY MIND IS THE EMBODIMENT OF COGNITIVE DISSONANCE RIGHT NOW. Because while I didn't think it was the right time. God dammit I DON'T WANT TO WAIT ANYMORE.
What an epic conclusion to an epic season 2. Bravo, Arrow writers! I can honestly say you managed to make the second season just as impressive as the first.
The back and forth between the fight scenes with Oliver and Slade in the present and Oliver and Slade's fight on the Amazo in the past was absolutely brilliant. What an elaborately choreographed fight.
Actually relieved to see Slade not die in the finale so he can hopefully join the Suicide Squad (?) at some point. LOL at Oliver locking him up on Lian Yu. Just where he belongs.
Holy shit at Quentin collapsing from that fight with the Mirakuru soldier! He better not die or I will be devastated.
Now for Olicity. Really clever to use that hug between them so that Oliver can give Felicity the cure to weaken Slade. I freaked out when he said "I love you" to her!
Great to see Sara still alive and run off with Nyssa in the end. She needed to make her own decisions and that was a great one. I'll miss her, though.
So Thea went with Malcolm after all. Hopefully he will train her and then she will come back to Starling City a badass hero.
And very interested as to why Oliver is now in Hong Kong with Amanda Waller in the flashbacks.
This finale was pretty damn awesome and a perfect way to end the season. I'm going to miss Arrow so much in the summer.
Blissful sigh. I've been saying season 3 would be their time. somewhere in the mid season, possibly closer to the end. But that scene gave me confirmation, that he is fond of her, but not all the way there yet. But it's there. So i'm good. Seriously i'm gonna go watch them again. Be back later.
"I only hope that sly smile Oliver gave Felicity on the island was another unspoken code. A code that silently says Felicity you don't have to play games to find out the truth of how I, you know I love you. If only ... if only."
On some level i feel he wasn't totally lying. I mean it was all in his eyes. And he did that whole pause thing, and his eyes were watery. I really think there was a tiny bit of truth to that. I mean god, he was ALL up in her personal space. Geez! that killed me. And FTR i was definitely one you heard screaming. lol I couldn't help it. Then i calmed down and said "wait he's not talking friendly? Is he??...nope.!! Ahhhhhhhhhhhh some more" like the whole 4 minute commercial break. Lmao!!
I wouldn't think for a second that Quentin is dead. Leaving someone's life hanging in the balance is typical finale business and they practically always live.
My predictions; Thea is going to be trained up next season and become a semi antagonistic figure, placing her front and centre, while Laurel's transition into Black Canary will be held off until the fourth season.
Quentin will live likely because this is a typical finale with question mark on certain character......other tv show had done something similar that wait a entire summer to learn the result
Damn good episode. Kudos for the 2 Oliver/Slade fight scenes shown together.
-Thea Merlyn... why do I have a feeling she's going off to the same place where Malcolm trained. -If they're going to keep topping each year's finale are they going to have to keep trying to destroy Starling? -Can we officially confirm now that Waller was backing Fyers. -Damn it... keep Det. Lance alive and fighting! -Sooooo... ARGUS has a supermax on The Island. That's just cool. -I admit I was fooled by Oliver telling Felicity he loved her. But when he said "Do you understand" I kinda felt something was off. -So, Laurel about to start training or she sticking to the law? -I still think Faran Tahir needs to be cast right away for the inevitable introduction of Ras al Ghul. -Daddy Diggle. Somehow I think that's going to get him under Waller's thumb. -Oliver in Hong Kong... Kinda had to get him off the island in order to get him to be on equal terms with Waller. Does bring up a few dozen more questions.
I totally fell for the "I love you" scene. I was so happy for a minute, then found out it was faked. I am so sad/angry now. I just want them to kiss... and be in love.... and make little babbies
Great finale, I enjoyed it quite much. Boy, I could hear the Olicity fandom going on a rampage as I watched the final minutes xD. The writers were quite mean to them
That final scene WHAT? Awesome finale it was everything i wanted. Malcom now with Thea, what would be of her i hope she returns being a bad-ass not caring about anyone. Sarah lives and she is with Nyssa, such great scenes with her they had great chemistry. Awkward The Oliver and Felicity moment at the end i was waiting for them to kiss at any moment. I almos bought the "i love you" at the manor and then i remembered Slade had cameras there. That was agreat move from the producers. Now Slade is back in the island he escape the first time wouldnt be awesome he escape again? Diggle is going to be a daddy! Season 3 is going for a great start.
Calm down. We all have our own opinions, doesn't mean we should get burned at the stake for having them. I probably have a different understanding of Oliver/Felicity than you do. So what? I'm not going to wish you any suffering if you don't think they should be together.
Please, show us a modicum of respect, and stop putting your opinion on a pedestal. Your holier than thou attitude is not welcome here.
Nope, i am so tired of shippers basically forcing the showrunners to do what they want no matter if it makes sense or not with no consideriation of how it could affect storytelling. Arrow is the line in the sand for me.
First of all, any showrunner who LETS shippers tell them what to do shouldn't be a show runner at ALL. Do you really think that this is what Oliver/Felicity shippers wanted? I don't think so. What Oliver did made sense. You're just not looking at the bigger picture or you missed the point of his "I love you" completely. The showrunners want to build them up to the point that when they actually get together (I say when because I don't think my heart can take it if I said 'if') it'll be believable.
I for one sort of trust the EPs. They made Laurel more likable. They put in more Quentin. They didn't kill Sara. They listen to the fans but they don't let them dictate their work. That's exactly what they should be doing.
So don't crucify all shippers and wish them suffering. Not only is it childish, it's uncalled for. Just because we have an opinion and actually express it doesn't mean it's our fault the show isn't going the way you want it to. If you want to stop watching, then by all means, stop watching... Just sayin'
The episode was awesome but I'm SO ANGRY right now. That scene killed me I kept gasping and my hands were ice cold and my heart skipped a beat and then was racing and all that was FAKE!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I agree! He could have taken back what he said but he both said we sold it and they had that look! I love those looks it speaks volumes! She truly believes in the good person he has become and never let's him dou t that! She wS the one that said out think slade and he did!
The episode was fantastic, but my only gripe is that I DON'T WANT DETECTIVE LANCE TO DIE!!!!! I am actually a fan of the character, although I wouldn't complain a death bed scene with Lance and Oliver where the two know that Lance knows who Ollie really is without really saying it.
But, anyways….while the episode showed situations where I pretty much predicted, as well as others(Amanda Waller being this mysterious woman, Thea running off with Malcolm), the episode still gave some surprises with Roy contemplating what to do with the red domino mask, Ollie in Hong Kong in the flashbacks and Slade Wilson in prison back on that island. Some great stuff looks to be ahead for season three, and I can't wait!
I do believe Ollie does loves her and they will have something In The future but he can't do that yet , he said so earlier in season after he slept with isobel and felicity said he deserves someone better! That scene on the island between Oliver and felicity conveyed that the words between them held far more weight then he is willing to admit just yet! I'm willing to wait and see what happens cuz there def more story to tell with them and I enjoy watching them together on the show!
I wasn't watching but i was reading some people on twitter and when everyone was talking abou the ILY scene i was jumping up in down in a bowling alley and my friends were like WTF, this chick is cray. LOL. Anyway, it was some very happy ten minutes.
Note on the whole Olicity thing. Of the women Oliver has been in a relationship so far: 1) He saw The Huntress as someone he desperately wanted to share his darkness with. 2) He saw Laurel as salvation from his darkness. 3) He saw Sarah as someone he could step into the light with. Felicity on the other hand may work with him but she's pretty far from being a dark person.
Ok... I admit I'm playing amateur pyschotherapist. But I guess my point is Oliver is still trying to shed the weight of what he's done in his past. Even after not killing Slade and starting to truly become a hero, well he's still got the baggage. Felicity seems like the right person for Oliver to be with but not for a while.
I'm not a fan of Olicity shippers, they're too loud and mostly rude about their opinions and when things don't go their way they start critizising the show as if it were supposed to be The Olicity Show, but I totally agree with you said about the showrunners. It's not the fault of the olicity fans if the showrunners allow themselves to be swayed but what they read in social media and boards. They should have conffidence enough in their view of the show, to see it through. But I do think that they have let themselves be influenced too much by shippers. I'm not an Olicity fan but I was a hardcore Felicity fan until they turned her into a seudo love interest for most of this season. Yeah, sure, in the last episodes we've gotten some of original Felicity back, but still... they almost ruined a perfectly awesome character because a big portion of the fanbase asked for Olicity, and that is something that made me loose great respect for the writters. I remember Reading a GoT article, where one of the writters/showrunner said something along the lines of how you're never going to win if you listen to your fanbase, and that's the honest truth. The thing I'm quite most non-shippers don't oppose Olicity as long as it doesn't mess with thw quality of the characters, and that's exactly what this ship did to Felicity, at least in my eyes. They traded a strong, smart, independent woman and turned her into a lovesick puppy. Hopefully next season they can fix the situation, and if they really want to go the Olicity way, they can find some midleground and give us both, character Independence and the romance you all so fervently desire. One thing shouldn't need to be sacrificed for the other, and if it truly needs to be, I hope they kill the pair and give awesome Felicty back fulltime.
But he was lying. There wasn't any sort of ambivalence there. Olicity shippers are mostly sore (and eternal haha) losers,so I'm not suprised they just can't take it to the face.
First of all, you're allowed to have an opinion, I respect that. But I feel like it's wrong to group ALL Olicity shippers and call them loud and mostly rude. I've come by so many wonderful people. Maybe people are just blinded by the rude ones because they scream the loudest. Again, I just feel like it's wrong to group us. Plus, shippers have a bad name in general, which sorta sucks but whatever.
And I don't think the showrunners 'allowed themselves to be swayed by the olicity fans'. I feel like they're slowly building up a relationship that was clearly working on the show. And I feel like Oliver/Felicity makes SENSE to them, it sure makes sense to the actors (as I've seen in many interviews and twitter posts etc). I think that just because the showrunners believe in something that others don't, doesn't make it the shippers fault. I feel like that's the default setting for a lot of people. When the show doesn't go their way, just blame the shippers! No it shouldn't work that way.
And I completely disagree with you about them turning Felicity into ONLY a pseudo love interest. Have we not been watching the same show? Felicity has done SO MUCH MORE in the back 13 episodes than she has done in the first part of the season. Not only did she defeat the clock king, she interrogated Blood's bodyguard, she hit Isabel with a van, she INJECTED SLADE WITH THE CURE, all while helping Oliver/Digg with all things tech. Felicity has grown so much. She's an asset to the team, so much more than Oliver's love interest. She's irreplaceable because if it wasn't for her, all of them would most likely be dead by now. It was Felicity's faith in Oliver that helped him rise up to become a hero. She made him stick to his morals, his beliefs. She made him outsmart Slade. Felicity is a gorgeous person. She doesn't let the darkness take over her no matter what. And with the crap she goes through, it takes a very strong person to do so. Felicity is more than her feelings for Oliver. She was the silent hero tonight. Sad you don't see it that way :/
And all the Olicity fans sang and shouted joyfully only for the source of their happiness to be snatched harshly away without warning leaving them feeling empty, cold and cheated ... but hopeful
I think you were blinded by my anti-shiping tyrade, and I'm sorry for that, because otherwise you would've realized I said that she was turned into a seudo love interest for MOST of the season, not all. And that bothers me immensely, because when they write her well, as in most of the cases you mentioned, they do such a wonderful job, However, and I don't think we'll ever see eye to eye on this, you being a shipper and me not being one, the writters/showrunners have definitely let themselves be swayed, which is why they diminished Laurel's role this season and gave Sara a more prominent one (since most of the fanbase hates Laurel), and why Felicity was promoted/demoted to love interest instead of letting her be the infatuated sidekick she was when this all started and was so fun to watch. And please let me apologize for throwing all shippers into the same bag, you're right, I've met wonderful shippers who are not rude at all and are very open to exchanging opinions, it's just most let their passion overun them and end up being rude and closeminded and not really open to new any point of view but their own. This is something that I've found a lot of in Olicity fans and Beaties, it seems that if you don't praise them blindly you're completely against them, when I've always thought that it's necesary to see the good and the bad in anything, wether its a ship or character, to actually be able to apreciate them. Then again, I think on this we might agree, and it's that everything depends on the glass you look it through.
Eh It's cool :p And yeah I did catch the 'most' of the season bit. I truly get where you're coming at! I feel like, yes while they did put Felicity to the background for a lot of the season, they sure as hell ended the season on a high note with regards to Felicity. I hope that's where they're heading with her character :) Because she was a BAD*SS the last few episodes!
Also, I'm actually a pretty objective person. I don't let my supporting Oliver/Felicity blind me. Trust me on this one. While I hated Laurel most of the season, I think she's made progress! I just hate how they made Laurel's arc about Oliver (bar last two episodes). I don't think Laurel and Oliver could ever make a solid, believable couple, there's too much baggage. And I hope they don't go this route because no self respecting woman would ever get back with Oliver after all that. So yes, for the time being my opinion about Laurel is tied to her relationship with Oliver because there's not much else to base it on! I thought her scenes with Sara/Quentin were fantastic! But Sara is gone so yeah :/
Shippers are tough to define. Let's just leave it at that :p
I used to be a Laurel fan back in season 1, and eventhough I didn't mind the whole Lauliver angle, I wasn't ok with it, since, you know, he cheated on her with her sister and all. I mean, really, how the hell do you get passed that? and now with the whole Oliver/baby mamma thing, I think I would loose all respect for her if she EVER took him back. Putting the romance angle aside, I've loved how they fixed Laurel's relationship with Sara, and their scene last episode is in my top 5 favourite Arrow scenes, you could finally see the big sister/Little sister bond there... so beautifully done on Katie's part..
Great finale. Not perfect but very entertaining. Pros: - Nyssa. She's always great. I wish Arrow had a plausible reason to keep her around but they don't. I hope she comes back to visit as much as she can. - All the fighting. Really well done and really entertaining. - Lyla's entrance. Blowing up a clock tower is a helluva way to stop by and say 'hi.' - Quentin's snark. He was in top form tonight. - The Olicity ruse. Bravo Arrow writers. It's rare that something that dick-ish can be so entertaining and, as an added bonus, it made Felicity instrumental in taking Slade down. That was nice. - Isabel Rochev is dead and Nyssa took her out. Good stuff. - Setting up Thea to be more involved in the show next season. Honestly, I hate how they're going about this (see: 'cons' section) but if it makes her useful and stops all her melodramatic whining then I'm willing to put up with it if we get a better character in the end. Cons: - Thea's nonsensical motivation for running off with Merlyn. There are so many ways it makes no damn sense that it makes my head spin. If I wasn't fairly certain this would be good for the character in the long term I'd be furious. - Roy's sudden mastery of the compound bow. When the hell did that happen? - Sara's exit. Everyone seemed way too relaxed with the fact that Sara was going off to be an assassin all over again. The whole mood of that scene was confusing to me. - The Digglet. I'm not sure if this is technically a 'con' but I'm very wary of baby storylines. I like Lyla but I'd rather see her in the field beside Diggle than hanging back because of a baby bump. - The impending money/Queen Consolidated issue. It's just a needless distraction and a screen time siphon. Finance issues aren't compelling TV and were the most dull part of Arrow's 2nd season. I don't imagine that will improve in season 3. - I don't really get the point of having Quentin end the season with a health scare. Maybe the writers will surprise me.
All in all, a darn good finale. Can't wait for season three.
That was a good episode and the way Oliver tricked Slade was smart. I'm glad no one died. and I'm really hoping that Quentin will be fine. My main criticism with the episode was that it was a little too anticlimactic and predictable for a season finale. They've had mid-season episodes that were more exciting. I kept expecting some major shocker or twist, but none came, and the flashback "twist" at the end doesn't count (Note to writers: Just because the first 2 seasons had flashbacks, doesn't mean that the third season needs it too!). Ironically, the only part that completely took me by surprise was Oliver's apparent declaration of love to Felicity. I'm not even a strong shipper, but that scene actually made me sigh, which made the writers doubly lame (and mean) for making it fake. Teasers like that are best suited in promos! It does make me wonder if the writers are still trying to push Oliver and Laurel as endgame.
It was also great to see Nyssa again. Her introductory exchange with Felicity, "MIT class of 2009" and the way she stopped Isobel in the midst of her sinister speech was just classic. Roy being back to normal was also great. The only character that continues to piss me off is Thea and unfortunately, it seems like she's going to be an even bigger misguided pain in the ass next season. Running away from your loved ones for not telling you their secrets makes no sense if you're going to run to someone like Malcolm Merlyn, the person who tried to wipe out an entire city. For some reason, she annoys me the way Charlotte annoys me on Revenge.
Minor point: Slade's prison cell seemed kind of isolated. Who runs it? Oliver? I didn't see anyone else around.
If that's all it is then that's a bit weak as far as motivation goes. Quentin is a cop and these things happen. In fact, they've happened before. At least once this season.
isn't Thea going with Malcolm pretty much a secret no one know he is alive...... and maybe Roy probably had some arrow shooting behind the scenes.......
Well Speedy wasn't a killer. So Idt that'll happen regardless of Malcolm's role. If anythingThea could be thinking, hey iI'm gonna let this dude train me for however long it takes, then when I'm ready, I'll take him down.
But very clever, and you know what? I watched it a few times tonight, and I gotta say, I think the first half of that was real. Him wanting to keep her safe, out of danger, he couldn't take that risk, etc etc. I believe on some level he meant it, which he kinda hinted at in the island scene. He may not be IN love with her. But he does love as in he cares for her, but it's more than a friend just less than a girlfriend. As iI've said before. Some time earlier this season, Felicity is Ollie's, right hand.
If the writers were actually listening to Olicity shippers they would have killed Laurel off during this episode. They don't want her to be Canary and they don't want her to be Oliver's love interest. But we can see clearly that writers have a plan here. Even after all the protest they are moving forward with her journey towards Canary. I don't like it but I applaud them for their belief in their story.
You are tired of the shippers and I am tired of people like you trying to blame everything on shippers when the show don't go their way.
Although the keeping-Slade-alive move was beyond stupid, the rest of the episode worked really well. Most importantly, the Writers came up with the same solution I suggested several months ago (No, I'm NOT saying they listen to me!) on how to resolve the Sara/Laurel/Black Canary problem. Having Sara return to the LOAs with Nyssa (her True Love...take that Prop 8!) in return for the League's help in defeating Slade, allows the writers to continue their attempts at making Laurel the Canary in the future--and leaves the door open for Sara to return. And, given that Sara/Caity has the physical chops for Canary that Laurel/Katie doesn't, it's a very good "insurance policy."
Beyond that, I was a little sad to see Isabel die, but (like the alcoholic Laurel arc) the writers never really developed Isabel--or gave the very talented Summer Glau anything real to do. As for Thea, Merlyn, we all know where that's going next season--trying to win her back.
All in all, no real letdowns in this finale--which is a relief given the tendency of most TV series to botch their season enders...yes, I'm talking about you Revolution, Alcatraz, Agents of SHIELD, and more.
I think on some part he did. It was in the way he "acted" before he said those 3 words.(Sigh). Then after the "do u understand?" Even in that moment of giving her the needle. I kinda felt he felt a little bad about it. But anyway, the island Scene, cleared it up for me. He wouldn't stop smiling or staring at her. And iI felt like he was thinking, oh she's rambling, that means she's nervous, iI think it's adorable. And there was a tiny bit of flirtation in there. After she says "let's go home" he shakes his head and smiles, and then she secretly smiles behind his back.
I'm not making this stuff up. Loli've been seeing their relationship grow since and iI think their development is growing beautifully. And it's just the right amount. It's not rushed, it's not too slow. I think b/c Ollie is fond of her, he can't/won't treat her like the others. Which is why he won't make a move any time soon.
They are pushing the Olicity way to hard; And this is not a new thing; the weakest aspect of this show has constantly been the romance. Laurel suffered the most due to this in season one, and it took a whole season to get her out of that scrappy pile.
And now Felicity, my favorite character, just keeps being shoved into Oliver and it's really making the character suffer. Almost all of her screentime is either exposition or something relate to Ollie (but she still gets the best lines!) It's like her whole thing is just pinning after Oliver.
It just seems that Arrow can write a decent romantic relationship for crap, and its really egregious on a show that otherwise is really good.
The "declaration of love" was so sudden that it made the conceit so obvious to me (cause seriously, it would have been bad writing and it's very telling that Olicity shippers saw it as the real deal)
I'm really getting pissed at Felicity's treatment; this is going to make the rest of the Fandom hate her eventually if they keep making the romance so flimsy and shoehorned instead of evolving it organically.
First thing I want to know is who is going to give my Slade some food in that bunker prison. Will Argus send him care packages. Or do I need to pack one now and call Fed Ex?
I loved the episode. I am satisfied with the conclusion of season 2. Pros for me: - Loved the tunnel fight. It was awesome. - Nyssa/Felicity, Nyssa/Oliver and above all Nyssa/Quentin - A Digglet is coming. I am happy for you Digg. - Lyla with a bazooka. - Thea's future. I am looking forward to it - The Olicity fake I love you. Very clever writers. That final scene between them was so cute. - Final battle between Slade and Oliver. The past and present flashing over. It was amazing.
Not many Cons but: - Isabel Rochev. What a waste of character and a brilliant actress with martial arts training. I wish they hadn't made her Ravager. If done well they could have carried her story over to season 3. - Whats up with Laurel and Quentin being happy that Sara is leaving to be an assassin? They were all smiley and happy. - They should have shown us Roy training more earlier this season. By not showing that they made Roy hitting a target unbelievable. They failed Roy spectacularly. - Oliver being broke. Seriously. Please do some work writers to make it a little bit believable. - Did any one see Bronze Tiger. Where was this dude?
I hope Quentin won't die. I love him. Oliver and Amanda story next season. Excited for that. Oliver please don't sleep with her. Wonderful finale for a great season. Looking forward to season 3. 5 months wait. *sigh*
Thea's motivation to go with Malcolm made no sense to me either. First she was all "Oh roy I love you so much" then she found the arrows and just started hating him instantly? That's pretty immature. Roy could've died and she didn't care at all.
I hope they show some Nyssa/Sara flashbacks when they're in the LoA! That would be the coolest thing ever! I also hope that the little Diglet doesn't keep Digg from the field! I need my trio like Felicity needs her computers! I also hope Lyla is here to stay.
Fingers crossed season 3 will be more about the supporting cast (Digg, Felicity, Nyssa, Sara)! I still don't care for Laurel, but I'm rooting for her to become Manhunter (she's DEFINITELY not ready to become BC that's for sure).
I'm curious. You were wary of Oliver not killing. What did you think of his resolve not to kill this episode now that you've seen it?
Oliver's need to not kill didn't put anyone at risk or cost any lives so it didn't bother me.
I have to imagine that all these people that Oliver are putting behind bars will eventually get out and start taking more lives. At some point Oliver is going to have to acknowledge that, while it is noble to try so hard to spare lives, Quentin and Nyssa also have a valid point that taking a life is also sometimes necessary too.
Em, show, I love Quentin and I want him to stay alive. Do you hear me?? Damnit Thea, why do I get the feeling she's going to be a future big bad? I hope Roy will be able to get through to her eventually.. but at least, now she too will be a fighter and I'd rather see Thea learning him to fight than Laurel now. I fell for the scene between Oliver and Felicity but did wonder why he took her to the manor for this. Still didn't get it until they showed that flashback lol. I do think there are real feelings there, but I'm not sure if Oliver is aware of it. I'm glad they kept Sara alive but how can she go away with her father dying? She has to come back or he has to be okay.. Also, keeping Slade alive and planning to bring more big bads to this nice prison.. why do I get the feeling they're all going to break out and return at the final season?
I like this theory. If Thea does that I will be impressed and happy. But can you walk away from Malcolm just like that? I am just happy Willa will get something substantial to do next season.
Yah, because nothing says "better" when the supposed main baddie of the season becomes comedy relief in the end. Can you imagine Slade becoming a joke and dying via alien laser?
Yah, there was no way AoS's finale was better. Not by a long shot.
I have to respectfully disagree. I liked the penultimate episode of AoS much better than the finale. The threat felt more real previous episode. Arrow topped AoS in action and emotion both in the finale.
Overall the action in Arrow was better. I was just disappointed in the Oliver/Slade fights. Slade getting caught under the debris felt(and looked) incredibly cheap and I didn't like the fight scene between them after he got hit with the cure. It made Oliver look incredibly weak.
Emotionally, though, Arrow came nowhere close to AoS. The only attempt at creating emotion in the Arrow finale was the writers dragging out the Oliver/Felicity stuff for another season.
Awesome episode. Too bad for Thea to go with Merlyn but still its nice that she will be save. Also predictable ending for Slade i knew that in the end he would end up back on the island.
Action in Arrow was way better in all ways imho. The thing you are forgetting here is Oliver actually had a ceiling fall on him, got in an accident and fought a lot of mirakuru soldiers in that tunnel and QC before fighting Slade in that final throw down. Where as Slade was chilling and watching the city burn. Even cured Slade is a master fighter and Oliver was tired. So him getting a few punches made that fight authentic. And I personally liked the way they integrated both fight scenes.
Again emotionally I liked Arrow better. Thea and Malcolm, Thea and Roy, Lance family scenes, Oliver/Felicity scenes and moreover dialogues between Slade and Oliver actually raised the emotional quotient. The only serious emotion I felt for AoS finale was Fitz's sacrifice for Jemma. It was well done but for me the conclusion of Ward and Garrett felt flat for me.
I put it as ok. The episode, imo, was a mess, including the ending. The fights were poorly executed (imo), Thea deciding to go evil wasn't good, Slade acting the same just doesn't work (could still be evil, but should be different), and the whole "Oliver was used by Waller" though expected doesn't sit well to me.
I really liked the episode but I tought I was very uncharacteristic (and kind of douchy) for Oliver to put Felicity in harm's way. In love or not, he usually tries to keep her safe. There are sooo many ways that ruse could have gone wrong.
I knew it was fake as it was going on. It was obvious. Right before Oliver was told he has to make a plan. Then he went back to where he had no reason to - except the cams
Well, there is Merlyn who has a plan in the works. And Waller is starting to become a major threat for a different reason. And I expect a third villain to show up.
What really kind of ruined the moment was for me that the writers couldn't resist to throw a "Oliver needs you" line in for Laurel, five minutes before the episode ended...just stop it! It was a nearly perfect episode, and you nearly ruined it with it! Up to this point I thought that the writers were finally ready to let go of the awful "love triangle" and "Laurel is the one true love for Oliver" stuff, but no, they had to remind me.
But otherwise...awesome. I especially love that Thea did shot Merlyn. Well, I called her being kidnapped by him or going with him by the end of the season months ago (time to train Thea up to become Speedy), so this was no surprise at all. But the two played the hell out of their scenes.
Felicity...there can be said not enough about Felicity...when Slade said that Oliver usually goes for stronger women, I was all "you have no idea what true strengths is". I mean let's recap this, Oliver left her there to get kidnapped, and Felicity just went along with the plan...how badasss is that? (Though while I am not really an Olicity shipper - she is too good for him - I felt slightly crushed that the confession wasn't real).
Love family Lance (and yes, in this context I even like Laurel...she works way better as sister or daughter than as love interest for Oliver or as career woman), and I really hope that Quentin will survive. Not just because he is an awesome character, but also because the show needs some "older" characters, and they have already killed off Moira.
At this point I am just glad that Sara survived....for me she is the one and only black canary, and as long as she lives, there is a chance that the show runners will see it too at one point
Could be, but, I think it could also be fans who had high expectations and felt what they wanted to see they didn't get. For example, Slade's "army" just didn't seem to be much of a threat, because the army seemed rather Zombie-like in intellect. Their motivation for what they are doing has not been explained. We know they are crazy from the mirakuru, but why would they listen to Slade after? Why do his dirty work? Why wouldn't they have their own issues?
maybe a rouge element of the LOA will be recruit by Malcolm to set up for frame up job for LOA on someone close to Oliver.......wonder how a LOA vs LOA fight be like
The point was that Roy lied to her...and she is tired of being lied to. Which I can understand...this is a pretty big lie he told her. Plus, she didn't "hate" him...she just decided not to be with him that moment. I guess she wants to become some sort of fighter first, instead of living the existince of a mushroom (you know, living in the dark and getting feed shit).
Dude, that 'Oliver needs you' quip was disgusting. Not only did Sara give Laurel her jacket she sort of gave her Oliver as well like he's some sort of rag doll. Then Laurel smiled and it was just so off-putting. LET THE SISTER SWAPPING END GOD DAMMIT
You don't have to be an Olicity shipper to not want Laruel as the Canary or Oliver's love interest. There are plenty fans who think that way and are not necessarily into Olicity or even think that writing Felicity as potential love interest is compromising an awesome female character.
The weak point of the show is the shipping...but not the shippers, but the insistence of the writers to ignore better storylines in favour of the love triangle of the week.
One thing I don't get. Why hasn't Oliver been training Felicity? I mean, she is going to be constantly under threat. She might never be a top notch fighter but she should be able to get some basic training.
I think in Thea's mind it is mostly her parents who lied. And he is now promising her the truths...thus said, I guess the second she feels betrayed by him in any way, she will be out of there.
Depends what Merlyn's plan, he could include brainwashing to change her thinking around, so she will become a manipulative liar and accepting it from him. I think it is all connected with Merlyn becoming a major bad in S3.
I agree with this point. We were shown by means of Roy and Slade that after being mirakuru'd they can think for themselves and make decisions. Roy only got extra crazy after being used to make mirakuru for all thise guys. So why would those guys after gaining super strength want to do Slade's bidding? Did Slade change the mirakuru formula to make them complacent to his war? If yes then why don't they show us. If not what did Slade guarantee these guys for the service. Even though they are felons some of them might have families. Wouldn't they want to go and see them ?
I see Malcolm training her to a trained archer who kills........but who knows what Malcolm master plan is I doubt he will want to destroy the city again
Right. Some would want to see their families. Others would just say "the battle is not worth it, I'm out of here." I don't see them working together, cooperating like that, either. I see them split apart, all over the city, and many outside. And wouldn't some think "Why did I put on this mask, when I could blend in and do more damage without it, so I won't be a target"?
The fact it is Argus and Waller is shown connected to the Island makes me think it is still being used. So someone is around. And maybe other prisoners in there who might surprise us.
Actually Merlyn didn't know Thea was his daughter till Moira's trial. But Thea doesn't know that. I don't like Thea going away with a murderer. But she has been lied to repeatedly even after her saying that is one thing she can't stand. Oliver should have come out and told her he was the vigilante. I truly thought Malcolm would use that as a motivation to take Thea. But they used Roy's lie. They are going for a big reveal between Thea and Oliver next season I guess.
There is no denying that the writers of this show has no idea how to write romance and to not destroy the female character while doing the bad job. They did it with Laurel, Sara and to some extend Felicity. But if I have to sit through romance in this show I would rather see Oliver/Felicity than any other pairing show has shown till now. That's just me. Even with all the emotional almost romantic moments these past three episodes I think these were Felicity's best episodes this season.
My point above was Olicity shippers demand many things. But I have always felt apart from a few cheesy scenes this season writers were planning for this outcome and were working towards it regarding Oliver and Felicity. To say shippers are the reason for a particular story line just because you don't like it is just as same as those rude shippers who wants Laurel and Sara to die. How do we know that the writers didn't want Oliver/Felicity to have a deeper connection and fellings towards each other earlier itself? Guggenheim in the beginning of the season said Oliver and Felicity is going to be in a different place when they end this season. So this was always the plan. Yes they should stop pulling all chains at same time. They should stick with one female at a time for Oliver.
Loved it!! I knew to expect something WTF at the end of the episode since it was all going way too nicely but I was NOT expecting that. Anyways my Olicity side fangirled during 'that' scene but when the reveal was made I wasn't too disheartened, well played Ollie!! Plus I don't want them to be a romantic pairing ever, despite the way she looked at him all *__*. I'm so irritated that I have to wait until Sept/Oct to see what happens to Det Lance, I love him especially when he had Nyssa back. Other than that, a pretty fantastic episode =D. I don't know how season 3 will top it but I'm sure it will!
The "I love you" wasn´t true, come on... Laurel... come on... Laurel is of long time ago, i hope next season that "I love you" is for real ok. Don´t joke with me.
This episode was really amazing! :) I like Laurel's character, because when you think about her, aside from her relationship with Oliver, she is pretty great, independent, persistent and I like her stubbornness. And I like Felicity, too :)
And my point is that there is no direct corrolation between being an Olicity shipper and not liking Laurel. One can consider Laurel a badly written and badly acted character without being invested in any shipping.
My bad. I agree with you. I should have used Sara as an example and not Laurel who is more universally hated. Sara is mostly hated by Olicity shippers and there was an outroar against her character but the writers did what they wanted to write not what us wanted them to write.
For me its not shipping or romance that ruins the enjoyment of the show. Its the love triangles. Choose one girl at a time for Oliver and let others move on and have something to do outside Oliver's orbit and not make goo goo eyes at him.
I have to agree with you and @JustGotLittUp on "Oliver needs you". I didn't mind the jacket scene even though I detest thinking of Laurel being Black Canary. But "Oliver needs you". Seriously. When are they going to let Oliver go. He is not a parcel to pass around.
But she ended up joining forces with someone even more deceptive and someone who tried to kill off an entire city (a city that she lived in). It just makes all of her sanctimonious talk sound like pure bs.
Sure it was a great plan. Very clever. Probably the only way to go. I just wish it had been Felicity's idea. or at least that they came up with it together. Of course Felicity wouldn't hesitate to risk her life for her friends but I can't shake the feeling that Oliver wouldn't/shoudn't just ambush her with a plan so dangerous without even consulting her. She is not (yet) a good fighter and slade was uber-strong. And fast. and Crazy.
"I still think they are more of a Harry and Hermione deal" - you do know JK Rowling stated that they should have ended up together? (Harry and Hermione, that is; no idea if JK Rowling is an Olicity shipper)
Putting them behind bars in an isolated prison with minimal human security seems like a huge risk to me. At the very least, he could try to rehabilitate some of these prisoners.....like give them professional councelling, LOL....I'm half-serious, but it seems like he's really tempting fat. Too bad Nyssa wasn't around when he caught Slade. She may be a killer, but she's practical.
I almost barfed wall Oliver confessed his love to Felicity, thank god that was a ruse.
All in all a good, but not great finale. There were quite a few things wrong with it: ~Sara going wit the League of Assassins and everyone acting like she's just moving away for a new desk job. ~Thea running off with Merlyn made little to no sense just because she find the bows and arrow's at Roy's place. ~Merlyn being underused. ~Lyla being pregnant, don't know where the plan to go with this. ~Quentin's fate left hanging for no reason at all.
I popped on tv.com, that first commercial after the mansion scene. I posted "I know all of you Olicity shippers just went through the roof." Then when it was revealed as a ploy, i went back and posted: "Now all of you shippers, are marching to the CW studios, to burn them down lol." Still laughing.
Yes, I think you pointed out a lot of the problems I had. Especially Quentin's fate. Seriously, that was out of left field, and really, didn't need to be done.
Merlyn I can understand. He is being developed for S3 so it is a slow burn. But still would have been nice to see a four-way crossfire.
And Sara with the League. Seriously, I don't know how any hero (Oliver) could accept someone they care about becoming a villain.
She didn't even give him a chance to explain the arrows. She knew he had "gone crazy" for a few months, after all. Couldn't she think "that was from when he went crazy"?
She didn't even ask him what the arrows were for. She wouldn't know if he had lied or not at that point. She could have thought, "this was part of the drug in him" and waited to find out first. But then again, in Arrow, people instantly believe and know everything...
Sara going back with league didn't make any sense. Didn't she just in the last episode had a hero moment and now she is back to be an assassin. More than that Quentin was growly like she is just running away with her lover and Laurel was happy and proud like Sara got a better job overseas and is leaving. And the "oliver needs you" comment. The whole scene left me confused. But I am happy Sara is alive.
Amazing finale all up. Definitely best of the lot of finales this week. Covered all basis pretty well and sets up mostly everyone's story for next season.
#oliverandfelicity & #olicity were worldwide trending and that is all I'm going to say on that front.
No, she didn't know, she explained at the final scene with Oliver, she only figured it out when she got the cure given to her. She made it clear, she believed him at first. I was thinking, at first, he should have told her before they went in, but then I figured, this time he was right; he used her, knowing she would have accepted, but had to make it look like she was just as surprised and believable as possible for Slade to believe it.
Yesss she did. She did go there as bait. When Oliver said "Do you understand?" and she said Yes, that was the moment he put the cure in her hand. From that moment on she knew it was a plan and agreed to it.
Yes she later knew. But not initially when Oliver took her to the mansion and began his "I love you." At that point, she didn't know, and believed him.
"He may not be IN love with her. But he does love as in he cares for her, but it's more than a friend just less than a girlfriend." I think it is like family! :) I would love for it to grow into more! :D
Fortunatly she didn't respond something really embarassing like "I love too, I've always loved you" before realizing it was a ruse. Oliver is a douche ^^
Now that I've seen the three finales I wanted to see, I would say:
AoS> Arrow > OUAT.
Agents of Shield was more fun, and more self-consistent. More thought out. It was more comic-bookish, to be sure, but that is the point.
Arrow failed to reach its potential. Too many writing problems this season. They want to have their cake and eat it too in regards to "realism." The quick way people come to believe what is told them, or switch sides, or do things, makes it unrealistic. The army really was poorly executed and silly looking, truth be told (they would all have been better off wearing no masks, and each with different motives and objectives, then it would have been a real threat).
And what they did with Quentin and Thea and Sara and even Waller did not inspire me.
But Arrow was a far clearer shot than OUAT which was a Back to the Future mess which had no business being a finale.
Oh I just went back an watched both scenes again. You guys are right. How did I miss that? Thank you guys for pointing it out. She didn't know until he gave her the cure. It was smart but my poor dear Felicity. To hear Oliver say I love you to her, believe it for a second and then find out immediately that it was a ruse. How bad ass was she to stay there as bait for a plan she even didn't know. And Slade called her weak. Ha.
As an Olicity shipper, I am almost glad that it was fake! When he admitted that he "Loved" her, I was too scared to be delighted. Well, I was delighted for a second until my thoughts of "Oh Crap! Slade is going to kill her for sure!" came through. I ended up anxiously crying instead of being able to enjoy it. When I realized that it was a "trap" for Slade, I felt much better because then I felt safe that Felicity was going to be ok. I know a lot of people would probably so that Felicity was never in any real danger of being killed off, but sometimes I get really anxious and overly worry. I was happy with the island scene, because it gave me some hope for the future. :)
Yes, she showed, once again, that she is one of the tougher people on team Arrow, because she is able to do more, bend more, than Oliver can bend a bow!
Poor Thea, I hope they've finally decided to give her an interesting arc. I wish that Melinda Clarke would star as Malcolm's sister/Thea's aunt, possibly also a member of the LoA, how cool would that be? :D Make her Thea's mentor, that's all I ask for.
Anyway, I wish those Olicity scenes weren't in the episode at all. I love Felicity and I love Oliver as characters in their own right, and I've always loved their interactions. However, in s2 it felt like the writers were constantly baiting Olicity shippers, but stopping short of a romantic relationship. Honestly, all the teasing is getting annoying. What is worse, Felicity is coming off like a lovesick puppy, while Oliver keeps parading his girlfriends in the Arrow cave. I don't mind a slow burn, but right now it's unrequited love. On the other hand, Diggle & Lyla were awesome! I loved his little smirk when she said she had come back for him (though it was a bad call, considering she's pregnant). Their invasion of the ARGUS HQ was great, and yay for baby Diggling! :) I hope this means more screen time for the two of them. The League of Assassins was grossly underused, it felt like they were just tossed into the mix like a bunch of regular extras. Also, "Slade's Army" was what, like 20-30 people in the tunnel?? That scene was just off. :/ The Lance sisters exchange at the docks looked like a setup for a future Laurel arc, but was very clumsily done. "Oliver will need you", wtf?? So what, they're taking shifts being Oliver's girlfriend, or they'll be taking shifts being Oliver's vigilante sidekick?? No. Just no. Overall it was a good episode, but I did not see the Olicity twist coming and felt like the rug was pulled under me after the reveal.
We will not agree about AoS and Arrow so I would leave it at that. But I agree Arrow did fail to reach its potential. They started so many story lines this season that the ending even though satisfying was a bit of a mess. They could have avoided Isabel Rochev, Helena's episode and lot of other small things this season and developed character like Roy and Sara's guilt and her decision for example. Mirakuru army and Oliver being broke definitely needed more thought put into it.
I did not watch OUAT completely this season but I agree the finale was really bad. I liked their mid season finale much better.
Is anyone else getting sick of the flashbacks? In the first season, they were necessary, but now I feel like they just get in the way of the present-day stories. Maybe it's just me that feels like that...
I think Oliver being broke makes little sense, in the scheme of things. He won't really be able to be a crime fighter without money. How can he afford the arrows, all the drugs he needs, etc. Of course, I think they will solve that rather quickly. We will have an episode or two with him without money, then Walter will step in (with Felicity) and a solution will be had.
Now, I know the comics did a stink with a poor Green Arrow. But it was quite a different dynamic than what can be done on screen.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
I have no words...Amazing!!!!
ReplyDeleteCouldn't agree more!
ReplyDeleteMalcolm lives
ReplyDeleteI don't care, everything is perfect
kidding, the episode was GREAT though
- the LOA fight sequence was really well done
- glad they didn't kill off Slade, so he can return one day :D
- Thea's going to become mini Merlyn I guess ?
- Nyssa rocks, had to say it
- RIP Quentin I guess ? They killed off their entire older cast in one season o.O promote Barrowman...NOW
Sara lived(!!!) and this show trampled all over my Olicity shipper heart. A+
ReplyDeletesomehow i got feeling oliver wasn't lying when he said he loved felicity.
ReplyDeleteI think sara is done on show so they can build laurel as black carney. They will say she eventully modeled the uniform after sara.
Amazing this finale.
ReplyDeleteMy favourite moments were Olicity ones and definitely the Past/Present fight I don't think I've seen this before
It was really good from scene one to the closing moments with Oliver in Honk Kong. Harley Quinn is on the lose with many other villians so it set up a solid season3 foundation the only thing I would wish happened a more ground breaking development for Laurel. Hope the writers won't forget her in s3 again.
ReplyDeleteGreat season finale!
ReplyDeleteI hate to see Sara leave, but if that's the destiny she chooses then so be it.
ReplyDeletedon't tell me they kill off Quentin he suppose to be the Gordon of Arrow.....
ReplyDeleteAmazing episode! So excited to see where Season 3 takes us! I loved that they set up Laurel's storyline on becoming Canary. Liked they didn't have to kill off Sara to do so. Liked Oliver and Felicity's interaction (sorry Olicity shippers, I still think they are more of a Harry and Hermione deal, but the moments were nice)...thought it was really clever how he tricked Slade. I feel so bad for Roy. And Diggle, well, he seems to be doing alright. Finally...AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA QUENTIN...........NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteAlso, Thea!!!
Great finale!
ReplyDelete- I love the irony of Slade being imprisoned on the island! XD
- I'm glad they closed the island flashbacks chapter.
Okay......
ReplyDeleteTHAT WAS AMAZING!!!
Amazing loved every minutes of it hopefully Laurel will now prepare to become Black Canary
ReplyDeleteYou always have the most colourful comments :p I LOVE THEM
ReplyDeleteI don't think they kill of Quentin.......he too value to the show as Arrow police contract.....
ReplyDeleteA little Digglet is on the way!
ReplyDeleteLet's hope mom and baby only visit the show occasionally though! XD
ReplyDeleteQuentin is too valuable as he is Gordon of the show........no way they kill him off
ReplyDeleteI could hear the Olicity fans "Awwing" and then screaming over the audio of my TV! XD
ReplyDeleteSara is alive, yes!!!! That was a amazing season finale!!! Really, a wonderful job! wll done writers, well done!
ReplyDeleteWHEN THEY WERE ON THE ISLAND I WAS SCREAMING "KISS KISS KISS!!!!" MY FIANCE THOUGHT I WAS INSANE. No but seriously, that smile he gave her at the end... He totally digs her. ALSO I will go to my grave believing that Oliver is a horrendous liar, so there's some truth to his words.
ReplyDeleteFELICITY WAS TOTALLY ON BOARD THOUGH. UGH I HATE THIS SHOW. BUT I LOVE IT.
MY MIND IS THE EMBODIMENT OF COGNITIVE DISSONANCE RIGHT NOW. Because while I didn't think it was the right time. God dammit I DON'T WANT TO WAIT ANYMORE.
Did you? Did you hear the distant cries of the Olicity fandom? It was so diabolical of the writers I swear :p

and Isabel is dead! Sara almost kill her
ReplyDeleteWhat an epic conclusion to an epic season 2. Bravo, Arrow writers! I can honestly say you managed to make the second season just as impressive as the first.
ReplyDeleteThe back and forth between the fight scenes with Oliver and Slade in the present and Oliver and Slade's fight on the Amazo in the past was absolutely brilliant.
Don't forget Isabel is dead.........now Oliver can retake QC........I think Quentin will not died.....he still a important figure
ReplyDeletedo you think Thea going to turn bad? Malcolm could turn her to be a killer.... I don't think Quentin will died he too valuable
ReplyDeleteBlissful sigh. I've been saying season 3 would be their time. somewhere in the mid season, possibly closer to the end. But that scene gave me confirmation, that he is fond of her, but not all the way there yet. But it's there. So i'm good. Seriously i'm gonna go watch them again. Be back later.
ReplyDeleteI wish Berlanti's last name was actually Macklin so I could say Macklin you sonofab*tch (a la parks and rec).
ReplyDelete"I only hope that sly smile Oliver gave Felicity on the island was another unspoken code. A code that silently says Felicity you don't have to play games to find out the truth of how I, you know I love you. If only ... if only."
ReplyDeleteOn some level i feel he wasn't totally lying. Lmao!!
Sucks he had to find out from Amanda! Ugh! But aww man i'm so happy for him. = )
ReplyDeleteWell you know how slow ambulances can be, so we'll see. smh
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't think for a second that Quentin is dead. Leaving someone's life hanging in the balance is typical finale business and they practically always live.
ReplyDeleteMy predictions; Thea is going to be trained up next season and become a semi antagonistic figure, placing her front and centre, while Laurel's transition into Black Canary will be held off until the fourth season.
ReplyDeleteYep, i was laughing the whole time.
ReplyDeleteQuentin will live likely because this is a typical finale with question mark on certain character......other tv show had done something similar that wait a entire summer to learn the result
ReplyDeleteDamn good episode. Kudos for the 2 Oliver/Slade fight scenes shown together.
ReplyDelete-Thea Merlyn... why do I have a feeling she's going off to the same place where Malcolm trained.
I think that if he didn't mean it at least now he's open to the possibility. I think Olicity is full force next season. That's good TV angst people!
ReplyDeletethey only did the same thing twice now. Last episode it was Malcolm, now it was Quentin.
ReplyDeleteMalcolm lived but what about Quentin ?
We'll know tomorrow when they release the press release for season 3 listing the lead cast for s3
I totally fell for the "I love you" scene. I was so happy for a minute, then found out it was faked. I am so sad/angry now. I just want them to kiss... and be in love.... and make little babbies
ReplyDeleteTotal dishonor
ReplyDeleteWell they still need the island since he was found on it
ReplyDeleteLittle arrow shooting computer hacking babies
ReplyDeleteGreat finale, I enjoyed it quite much. Boy, I could hear the Olicity fandom going on a rampage as I watched the final minutes xD. The writers were quite mean to them
ReplyDeleteThey didn't show him dying so I say he's going to be good for now, it's probably more about progressing Laurel steadily into becoming Black Canary.
ReplyDeletethey going to list the cast tomorrow? where you get this info?
ReplyDeletenyssa crushing on felicity with that stare at the beginning
ReplyDeleteNyssa crushing on felicity at the beginning with them looks
ReplyDeleteThis is what's going through my head right now about the writers... :p
ReplyDeletehttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ti7FB80MHdg
Except for the Olicity-crap this was a great episode.
ReplyDeleteAnyone who supports a romance between Oliver and Felicity deserve all the suffering they can recieve for wanting this show to be ruined
ReplyDeleteThat final scene WHAT?
ReplyDeleteAwesome finale it was everything i wanted.
ReplyDeletePlease, show us a modicum of respect, and stop putting your opinion on a pedestal. Your holier than thou attitude is not welcome here.
but we are going back to the island at some point.. he was found there after all.
ReplyDeleteseriously, BEST GIF!
ReplyDeleteNope, i am so tired of shippers basically forcing the showrunners to do what they want no matter if it makes sense or not with no consideriation of how it could affect storytelling. Arrow is the line in the sand for me.
ReplyDeleteFirst of all, any showrunner who LETS shippers tell them what to do shouldn't be a show runner at ALL.
ReplyDeleteI for one sort of trust the EPs.
Just sayin'
He loves her? right?
ReplyDeleteThe episode was awesome but I'm SO ANGRY right now. That scene killed me I kept gasping and my hands were ice cold and my heart skipped a beat and then was racing and all that was FAKE!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI agree! He could have taken back what he said but he both said we sold it and they had that look! I love those looks it speaks volumes! She truly believes in the good person he has become and never let's him dou t that! She wS the one that said out think slade and he did!
ReplyDeleteI agree he does have feeling just hasn't quite realized the depth of them yet but they r def there
ReplyDeleteAgents of S.H.I.E.L.D. need to take note.
ReplyDeleteThe episode was fantastic, but my only gripe is that I DON'T WANT DETECTIVE LANCE TO DIE!!!!!
I wouldn't call Thea a future "mini Merlyn", but more like an evil version of Speedy.
ReplyDeleteI do believe Ollie does loves her and they will have something In The future but he can't do that yet , he said so earlier in season after he slept with isobel and felicity said he deserves someone better! That scene on the island between Oliver and felicity conveyed that the words between them held far more weight then he is willing to admit just yet! I'm willing to wait and see what happens cuz there def more story to tell with them and I enjoy watching them together on the show!
ReplyDeleteI wasn't watching but i was reading some people on twitter and when everyone was talking abou the ILY scene i was jumping up in down in a bowling alley and my friends were like WTF, this chick is cray. LOL. Anyway, it was some very happy ten minutes.
ReplyDeleteNote on the whole Olicity thing.
ReplyDeleteOk... I admit I'm playing amateur pyschotherapist. But I guess my point is Oliver is still trying to shed the weight of what he's done in his past. Even after not killing Slade and starting to truly become a hero, well he's still got the baggage. Felicity seems like the right person for Oliver to be with but not for a while.
as the EP say a character is not returning.......I guessing it sara not Quentin who leaving
ReplyDeleteI'm not a fan of Olicity shippers, they're too loud and mostly rude about their opinions and when things don't go their way they start critizising the show as if it were supposed to be The Olicity Show, but I totally agree with you said about the showrunners.
ReplyDeleteThe thing I'm quite most non-shippers don't oppose Olicity as long as it doesn't mess with thw quality of the characters, and that's exactly what this ship did to Felicity, at least in my eyes.
ReplyDeleteFirst of all, you're allowed to have an opinion, I respect that.
ReplyDeleteAnd I don't think the showrunners 'allowed themselves to be swayed by the olicity fans'.
Sad you don't see it that way :/
And all the Olicity fans sang and shouted joyfully only for the source of their happiness to be snatched harshly away without warning leaving them feeling empty, cold and cheated ... but hopeful
ReplyDeleteI think you were blinded by my anti-shiping tyrade, and I'm sorry for that, because otherwise you would've realized I said that she was turned into a seudo love interest for MOST of the season, not all. And that bothers me immensely, because when they write her well, as in most of the cases you mentioned, they do such a wonderful job,
ReplyDeleteHowever, and I don't think we'll ever see eye to eye on this, you being a shipper and me not being one, the writters/showrunners have definitely let themselves be swayed, which is why they diminished Laurel's role this season and gave Sara a more prominent one (since most of the fanbase hates Laurel), and why Felicity was promoted/demoted to love interest instead of letting her be the infatuated sidekick she was when this all started and was so fun to watch.
ReplyDeleteAlso, I'm actually a pretty objective person.
ReplyDeletei agree, Thea could become speedy, but i don't think she will become a killer!
ReplyDeleteI hope she joins Oliver too
ReplyDeleteTHEA ROCKS!!!
ReplyDeleteThey did say that someone won't make it to Season 3 so that's either Thea or Quentin.
ReplyDeleteGreat finale. Not perfect but very entertaining.
ReplyDeletePros:
- Nyssa. She's always great. I wish Arrow had a plausible reason to keep her around but they don't. I hope she comes back to visit as much as she can.
- All the fighting. Really well done and really entertaining.
- Lyla's entrance. Blowing up a clock tower is a helluva way to stop by and say 'hi.'
- Quentin's snark.
Cons:
- Thea's nonsensical motivation for running off with Merlyn.
They were both good but SHIELD finale was better, imo. The fight between Ward and May was way more satisfying than the Oliver/Slade fights.
ReplyDeleteThe Quentin scene was all about providing some motivation for Laurel since her dad got hurt trying to save her.
ReplyDeleteThat's not really what he said. This is the actual quote:
ReplyDelete"There’s one character who you will not be seeing at the start of Season 3."
That doesn't say someone isn't returning. it only says they're not around at the beginning of the season.
ReplyDeleteIt was also great to see Nyssa again.
ReplyDeleteisn't Thea going with Malcolm pretty much a secret no one know he is alive...... and maybe Roy probably had some arrow shooting behind the scenes.......
ReplyDeleteso I guess no one is going to die but they won't return right away......it likely thea or Quentin
ReplyDeleteWell Speedy wasn't a killer. So Idt that'll happen regardless of Malcolm's role. If anythingThea could be thinking, hey iI'm gonna let this dude train me for however long it takes, then when I'm ready, I'll take him down.
ReplyDelete"Minor point: Slade's prison cell seemed kind of isolated. Who runs it? Oliver? I didn't see anyone else around."
ReplyDeleteVery good question.
Amanda Waller and Oliver story seems very interesting
ReplyDeleteBut very clever, and you know what? I watched it a few times tonight, and I gotta say, I think the first half of that was real. Him wanting to keep her safe, out of danger, he couldn't take that risk, etc etc. I believe on some level he meant it, which he kinda hinted at in the island scene. He may not be IN love with her. But he does love as in he cares for her, but it's more than a friend just less than a girlfriend. As iI've said before. Some time earlier this season, Felicity is Ollie's, right hand.
ReplyDeleteThat would suck if it were either. But obviously it's Quentin.
ReplyDeleteI Think you just answered your own question. Lol
ReplyDeleteactually no one will die, ep quote
ReplyDelete"There’s one character who you will not be seeing at the start of Season 3."
ReplyDeleteYou are tired of the shippers and I am tired of people like you trying to blame everything on shippers when the show don't go their way.
They delivered the goods!
ReplyDeleteAlthough the keeping-Slade-alive move was beyond stupid, the rest of the episode worked really well.
ReplyDeleteI'm not making this stuff up.
ReplyDeleteAnd now Felicity, my favorite character, just keeps being shoved into Oliver and it's really making the character suffer.
ReplyDeleteI loved the episode. I am satisfied with the conclusion of season 2.
Pros for me:
- Loved the tunnel fight. It was awesome.
- Nyssa/Felicity, Nyssa/Oliver and above all Nyssa/Quentin
- A Digglet is coming. I am happy for you Digg.
- Lyla with a bazooka.
- Thea's future. I am looking forward to it
- The Olicity fake I love you. Very clever writers. That final scene between them was so cute.
- Final battle between Slade and Oliver. The past and present flashing over. It was amazing.
Not many Cons but:
- Isabel Rochev.
ReplyDeleteI hope they show some Nyssa/Sara flashbacks when they're in the LoA!
ReplyDeleteI have to imagine that all these people that Oliver are putting behind bars will eventually get out and start taking more lives. At some point Oliver is going to have to acknowledge that, while it is noble to try so hard to spare lives, Quentin and Nyssa also have a valid point that taking a life is also sometimes necessary too.
Em, show, I love Quentin and I want him to stay alive. Do you hear me??
ReplyDeleteDamnit Thea, why do I get the feeling she's going to be a future big bad?
Thea didn't choose Malcolm though, she chose herself. She is going to use him to train her and then walk away from him too.
ReplyDeleteah but I said "to go with Malcolm". The reasoning was a little flimsy for me :)
ReplyDeleteI like this theory. If Thea does that I will be impressed and happy. But can you walk away from Malcolm just like that? I am just happy Willa will get something substantial to do next season.
ReplyDeleteYah, because nothing says "better" when the supposed main baddie of the season becomes comedy relief in the end. Can you imagine Slade becoming a joke and dying via alien laser?
ReplyDeleteYah, there was no way AoS's finale was better. Not by a long shot.
I have to respectfully disagree. I liked the penultimate episode of AoS much better than the finale. The threat felt more real previous episode.
ReplyDeleteArrow topped AoS in action and emotion both in the finale.
I am imagining Oliver, Felicity and Roy baby sitting little Digging in the new arrow cave.
ReplyDeleteI don't think Quentin will die. Show needs him. He is the only older character left.
ReplyDeleteOverall the action in Arrow was better. I was just disappointed in the Oliver/Slade fights. Slade getting caught under the debris felt(and looked) incredibly cheap and I didn't like the fight scene between them after he got hit with the cure. It made Oliver look incredibly weak.
ReplyDeleteEmotionally, though, Arrow came nowhere close to AoS.
ReplyDeleteI wish people who voted awful would come out and say what they disliked about the episode.
ReplyDeleteAction in Arrow was way better in all ways imho.
ReplyDeleteAgain emotionally I liked Arrow better.
ReplyDeleteI'm thinking they are turning the Island into a mini-Arkham for Oliver. And I think Argus still uses the Island..
ReplyDeleteIt is, but remember, the Island was a prison facility, and I think, Argus still uses it for such. So it's the show's Arkham now
ReplyDeleteprobably a bunch a fake fans just trolling around
ReplyDeleteI really liked the episode but I tought I was very uncharacteristic (and kind of douchy) for Oliver to put Felicity in harm's way. In love or not, he usually tries to keep her safe. There are sooo many ways that ruse could have gone wrong.
ReplyDeleteNo, she chose her father. It's why she basically said Thea Queen is dead...
ReplyDeleteFully agree. AoS was much better. The storyline more coherent. I feel Arrow has misfired, imo.
ReplyDeleteI disliked the action in Arrow. It was all over the place, and reminded me of shaky cam fights with discord.
ReplyDeleteso what now for team arrow do they continuue to fight crime and also help rebuild?
ReplyDeleteI knew it was fake as it was going on. It was obvious. Right before Oliver was told he has to make a plan. Then he went back to where he had no reason to - except the cams
ReplyDeleteI expect the island flashbacks are over and year 3 starts
ReplyDeleteWell, there is Merlyn who has a plan in the works. And Waller is starting to become a major threat for a different reason. And I expect a third villain to show up.
ReplyDeleteThe island isn't over; Waller is who ran the Island as a prison.
ReplyDeleteHIVE should be the next big threat.....a entire organization than one villain would be a change
ReplyDeleteWhat really kind of ruined the moment was for me that the writers
ReplyDeletecouldn't resist to throw a "Oliver needs you" line in for Laurel, five
minutes before the episode ended...just stop it! It was a nearly perfect
episode, and you nearly ruined it with it! Up to this point I thought
that the writers were finally ready to let go of the awful "love
triangle" and "Laurel is the one true love for Oliver" stuff, but no,
they had to remind me.
But otherwise...awesome. I especially
love that Thea did shot Merlyn. Well, I called her being kidnapped by
him or going with him by the end of the season months ago (time to train
Thea up to become Speedy), so this was no surprise at all. But the two
played the hell out of their scenes.
Felicity...there can be
said not enough about Felicity...when Slade said that Oliver usually
goes for stronger women, I was all "you have no idea what true strengths
is". I mean let's recap this, Oliver left her there to get kidnapped,
and Felicity just went along with the plan...how badasss is that?
(Though while I am not really an Olicity shipper - she is too good for
him - I felt slightly crushed that the confession wasn't real).
Love
family Lance (and yes, in this context I even like Laurel...she works
way better as sister or daughter than as love interest for Oliver or as
career woman), and I really hope that Quentin will survive. Not just
because he is an awesome character, but also because the show needs some
"older" characters, and they have already killed off Moira.
At
this point I am just glad that Sara survived....for me she is the one
and only black canary, and as long as she lives, there is a chance that
the show runners will see it too at one point
I think LoA will remain a threat, as well.
ReplyDeleteI thinking HIVE will recruit Slade like in the comics.....
ReplyDeleteNah...I think Thea will pick up some fighting skills, but I don't see her becoming evil.
ReplyDeleteQuentin better survives. He is still needed...what is the cast without Papa Bear.
ReplyDeleteI'm thinking it is more likely Waller will use him in the Suicide Squad.
ReplyDeleteI disagree. She chose Malcolm for now. Which is why she said "Thea Queen" in the past. She now has accepted her father.
ReplyDeletemaybe a rouge element of the LOA will be recruit by Malcolm to set up for frame up job for LOA on someone close to Oliver.......wonder how a LOA vs LOA fight be like
ReplyDeleteand he would likely be closely monitor.......I can't imagine if the SS and team arrow have to work together
ReplyDeleteThe point was that Roy lied to her...and she is tired of being lied to. Which I can understand...this is a pretty big lie he told her. Plus, she didn't "hate" him...she just decided not to be with him that moment. I guess she wants to become some sort of fighter first, instead of living the existince of a mushroom (you know, living in the dark and getting feed shit).
ReplyDeleteAhhh I see now. I didn't really look at it that way. I just figured it was a selfish way out on her part. But now that you explain it, I must concede.
ReplyDeleteDude, that 'Oliver needs you' quip was disgusting. Not only did Sara give Laurel her jacket she sort of gave her Oliver as well like he's some sort of rag doll. Then Laurel smiled and it was just so off-putting. LET THE SISTER SWAPPING END GOD DAMMIT
ReplyDeleteBut Merlyn lied to her, as well. For years.
ReplyDeleteYou could say the finale was... UNTHINKABLE :P
ReplyDeleteYou don't have to be an Olicity shipper to not want Laruel as the Canary or Oliver's love interest. There are plenty fans who think that way and are not necessarily into Olicity or even think that writing Felicity as potential love interest is compromising an awesome female character.
ReplyDeleteThe weak point of the show is the shipping...but not the shippers, but the insistence of the writers to ignore better storylines in favour of the love triangle of the week.
One thing I don't get. Why hasn't Oliver been training Felicity? I mean, she is going to be constantly under threat. She might never be a top notch fighter but she should be able to get some basic training.
ReplyDeleteI think in Thea's mind it is mostly her parents who lied. And he is now promising her the truths...thus said, I guess the second she feels betrayed by him in any way, she will be out of there.
ReplyDeleteI expect she will next season........I think sara did train her for a bit
ReplyDeleteDepends what Merlyn's plan, he could include brainwashing to change her thinking around, so she will become a manipulative liar and accepting it from him. I think it is all connected with Merlyn becoming a major bad in S3.
ReplyDeleteSara was starting until Oliver was like "Why are you doing that?"
ReplyDeleteI agree with this point.
ReplyDeletelet diggle train her........I think Oliver will need to continue to train roy.....
ReplyDeleteI see Malcolm training her to a trained archer who kills........but who knows what Malcolm master plan is I doubt he will want to destroy the city again
ReplyDeleteThat will be fun. But still how is Slade going to survive there with no one around? May be there is a hidden office somewhere in the island.
ReplyDeleteRight.
ReplyDeleteDiggle training her is fine. Just she needs it and Oliver needs to accept she needs it instead of complaining when she gets some.
ReplyDeleteThe fact it is Argus and Waller is shown connected to the Island makes me think it is still being used. So someone is around. And maybe other prisoners in there who might surprise us.
ReplyDeleteI doubt the destruction of the city again as well. But I can see him wanting to create his own little empire, imitating the LoA.
ReplyDeleteActually Merlyn didn't know Thea was his daughter till Moira's trial.
ReplyDeleteEven though he didn't lie about being her father, he still lied to her for years, pretending to be one thing, and was another.
ReplyDeleteThere is no denying that the writers of this show has no idea how to write romance and to not destroy the female character while doing the bad job.
ReplyDeleteMy point above was Olicity shippers demand many things.
ReplyDeleteThe "I love you" wasn´t true, come on... Laurel... come on... Laurel is of long time ago, i hope next season that "I love you" is for real ok. Don´t joke with me.
ReplyDeleteThis episode was really amazing! :) I like Laurel's character, because when you think about her, aside from her relationship with Oliver, she is pretty great, independent, persistent and I like her stubbornness. And I like Felicity, too :)
ReplyDeleteThere are lots of threats: LoA, H.I.V.E, Argus.. Malcolm is a threat and now.. Thea will also be a threat.
ReplyDeleteThat was the only way he could outsmart Slade and he couldn't do that without her.
ReplyDeleteI wonder if Waller has the Huntress now in one of those cells..
ReplyDeleteAnd my point is that there is no direct corrolation between being an Olicity shipper and not liking Laurel. One can consider Laurel a badly written and badly acted character without being invested in any shipping.
ReplyDeleteMy bad. I agree with you. I should have used Sara as an example and not Laurel who is more universally hated. Sara is mostly hated by Olicity shippers and there was an outroar against her character but the writers did what they wanted to write not what us wanted them to write.
ReplyDeleteFor me its not shipping or romance that ruins the enjoyment of the show.
ReplyDeleteDid I miss it or was there Bronze Tiger in this episode? He was there in promo pictures but I didn't see him on the show.
ReplyDeleteBut she ended up joining forces with someone even more deceptive and someone who tried to kill off an entire city (a city that she lived in). It just makes all of her sanctimonious talk sound like pure bs.
ReplyDeleteSure it was a great plan. And fast. and Crazy.
ReplyDelete"I still think they are more of a Harry and Hermione deal" - you do know JK Rowling stated that they should have ended up together? (Harry and Hermione, that is; no idea if JK Rowling is an Olicity shipper)
ReplyDeletePutting them behind bars in an isolated prison with minimal human security seems like a huge risk to me. At the very least, he could try to rehabilitate some of these prisoners.....like give them professional councelling, LOL....I'm half-serious, but it seems like he's really tempting fat. Too bad Nyssa wasn't around when he caught Slade. She may be a killer, but she's practical.
ReplyDeleteI almost barfed wall Oliver confessed his love to Felicity, thank god that was a ruse.
ReplyDeleteAll in all a good, but not great finale. There were quite a few things wrong with it:
~Sara going wit the League of Assassins and everyone acting like she's just moving away for a new desk job.
ReplyDeleteYes, I think you pointed out a lot of the problems I had. Especially Quentin's fate. Seriously, that was out of left field, and really, didn't need to be done.
ReplyDeleteMerlyn I can understand. He is being developed for S3 so it is a slow burn. But still would have been nice to see a four-way crossfire.
And Sara with the League. Seriously, I don't know how any hero (Oliver) could accept someone they care about becoming a villain.
I think the only reason why Oliver didn't tell her before, is it had to look real. She couldn't act good enough to convince Slade.
ReplyDeleteShe didn't even give him a chance to explain the arrows. She knew he had "gone crazy" for a few months, after all. Couldn't she think "that was from when he went crazy"?
ReplyDeleteShe didn't even ask him what the arrows were for. She wouldn't know if he had lied or not at that point. She could have thought, "this was part of the drug in him" and waited to find out first. But then again, in Arrow, people instantly believe and know everything...
ReplyDeleteSara going back with league didn't make any sense.
ReplyDeleteAmazing finale all up. Definitely best of the lot of finales this week. Covered all basis pretty well and sets up mostly everyone's story for next season.
ReplyDelete#oliverandfelicity & #olicity were worldwide trending and that is all I'm going to say on that front.
I thought it was a joint plan between them. Was I mistaken? Didn't Felicity knowingly go there as bait?
ReplyDeleteNo, she didn't know, she explained at the final scene with Oliver, she only figured it out when she got the cure given to her. She made it clear, she believed him at first. I was thinking, at first, he should have told her before they went in, but then I figured, this time he was right; he used her, knowing she would have accepted, but had to make it look like she was just as surprised and believable as possible for Slade to believe it.
ReplyDeleteYesss she did. She did go there as bait. When Oliver said "Do you understand?" and she said Yes, that was the moment he put the cure in her hand. From that moment on she knew it was a plan and agreed to it.
ReplyDeletein that moment. when he gave her the cure, she knew what the plan was, she did willingly go there as bait.
ReplyDeleteYes she later knew. But not initially when Oliver took her to the mansion and began his "I love you." At that point, she didn't know, and believed him.
ReplyDeleteShe did not go as bait. She willingly stayed there as bait ;)
ReplyDelete"He may not be IN love with her. But he does love as in he cares for her, but it's more than a friend just less than a girlfriend."
ReplyDeleteI think it is like family! :) I would love for it to grow into more! :D
Fortunatly she didn't respond something really embarassing like "I love too, I've always loved you" before realizing it was a ruse.
ReplyDeleteOliver is a douche ^^
Now that I've seen the three finales I wanted to see, I would say:
ReplyDeleteAoS> Arrow > OUAT.
I am SO glad they found a way that Sara didn't have to die! I was very anxious about this!
ReplyDeleteOh I just went back an watched both scenes again. Ha.
ReplyDeleteAs an Olicity shipper, I am almost glad that it was fake! When he admitted that he "Loved" her, I was too scared to be delighted. Well, I was delighted for a second until my thoughts of "Oh Crap! Slade is going to kill her for sure!" came through. I ended up anxiously crying instead of being able to enjoy it.
ReplyDeleteWhen I realized that it was a "trap" for Slade, I felt much better because then I felt safe that Felicity was going to be ok.
ReplyDeletePoor Thea, I hope they've finally decided to give her an
ReplyDeleteinteresting arc. I wish that Melinda Clarke would star as Malcolm's
sister/Thea's aunt, possibly also a member of the LoA, how cool would that be?
The Lance sisters exchange at the docks looked like a setup for a future Laurel arc, but was very clumsily done.
ReplyDeleteI did not watch OUAT completely this season but I agree the finale was really bad. I liked their mid season finale much better.
Well that's his wifey. so you could say "family" it's def. not sisterly, he's physically attracted to her. ; )
ReplyDeleteIs anyone else getting sick of the flashbacks? In the first season, they were necessary, but now I feel like they just get in the way of the present-day stories. Maybe it's just me that feels like that...
ReplyDeleteI think Oliver being broke makes little sense, in the scheme of things. He won't really be able to be a crime fighter without money. How can he afford the arrows, all the drugs he needs, etc. Of course, I think they will solve that rather quickly. We will have an episode or two with him without money, then Walter will step in (with Felicity) and a solution will be had.
ReplyDeleteNow, I know the comics did a stink with a poor Green Arrow. But it was quite a different dynamic than what can be done on screen.
I think I wanted it to be real so bad that I ignored logic. :/
ReplyDeleteThank goodness for that. Now I see why shippers are mad about it. I had this impression Felicity was in on it all the way.
ReplyDeleteTo realize Oliver didn't mean that I love you and also is leaving her to be kidnapped by a mad man as bait. Damn. That's harsh.
I didn't realize how much I am an Olicity shipper until this episode. I agree with what you said... I just want them to kiss so bad! haha
ReplyDelete
