Well, I did not see that Jared twist coming. Whoa at the fact that he killed his family. And no to getting Paige involved. Philip and Elizabeth should be in charge of that decision. Glad Philip told that guy they'd be gone if they went back their backs to involve Paige. But no to Elizabeth changing her mind at the end. Don't act like that!
Thought Martha was going to tell "Clark" she was pregnant so thank God that didn't happen.
I never expected that was the Centre's plan, to have a second generation of Illegal agents. Oh damn! Jared being the killer surely no one saw that coming? All the stories with Paige this season make a lot more sense now as they show the kind of person she is. Oh Nina I hope she is OK!
Once again a FX drama bring its to a whole new level in its second season, happened with Justified and SoA as well. Hoping The Bridge takes that jump to greatness...
What an amazing finale. Didn't see that Jared reveal coming and I was gutted.
Cheered madly for Elizabeth when she fought with Larrick with her hands cuffed behind her back. That woman is hardcore and I love it.
Oleg and Nina - my favorites this season. Heartbreaking scene when Nina leaves the Rezidentura.
Don't care for Stan at all. I was hoping he would turn over Echo and fall down much deeper into the pit he has dug for himself.
So, the Centre wants Paige. Great scene between Arkady and Philip.
Seeds of potential conflict between Philip and Elizabeth sown - at the end Elizabeth is seriously considering telling Paige something and Philip is dead set against it.
The creators have said in an interview that Nina's story is not done. I have a feeling that there is some master Arkady plan behind this all. He wants Stan to think that Nina has been sent away. OR come S3 we will be in with a surprise and Stan hijacks the car Nina's in and takes her away.
Fully agree with you on The Bridge. I have high hopes for its S2.
I kind of feel bad for Larrick. After all, he's technically the good guy. He was blackmailed because of his sexuality into helping the Soviets and they end up killing a bunch of his friends. And in the end he tries to do the right thing, handing them over instead of just killing them, which would have been much easier.
I was just reading the post finale interviews with the creators! Phew at Nina, I think Arkady does care for her and Oleg's family has a lot of influence so hopefully she will be ok.
I agree Larrick was almost forced to take the actions he did to try and free himself. To me Elizabeth is one of the most despicable characters on TV and I really keep hoping she dies, although I know that won't happen. I've keep watching because I liked Philip but this year they have let him become almost as bad. Not sure I'll be back next year.
Are you watching this show for good/bad guys? Or is there a patriotic fervor to your viewing (if you're American)? Or is your hate for Elizabeth due to moral grounds? This is not snark/sarcasm. I am genuinely curious.
I am an Indian, so I have got no latent feelings of patriotism for either US or Russia. In this way, all the characters are equal for me. The way I look at it - this is a spy story and the dark nature of the spy business. There is no black and white, only murky shades of grey and there are certainly no good guys and bad guys. As for Philip and Elizabeth - they are no angels but they are hardcore spies balancing a family life and I respect and love them for that.
What are your thoughts on Oleg? When he was first introduced, he came across as a rich kid who got a plum posting but as the season progressed, he became one of my favorite characters. This is what I call excellent writing and character development.
Martha will use that gun on herself. That's my prediction. I was reading post finale interview (with the show's creators) at avclub and they said that in reality there were women like Martha who had been married to KGB illegals for years. There are at least three documented cases of such women. When the law told them the truth of their husbands, one outright refused to believe it , one hung herself and one jumped from a window to her death. So, if the creators want to stick to a version of these cases, then Martha's future doesn't look good.
I found him pretty funny when he first joined the show esp his love of American culture but yeah he has definitely developed into a proper character and I really like his relationship with Nina. Hope we see more of him in S3.
Not watching it for good or bad guys and have no political leaning. I just think she is a nasty cold hearted witch who really doesn't care about her husband, her kids or anyone. I just don't like the way anyone is expendable to her. The character is just so cold that I find here really dislikable. Not crazy about Stan either. He is about as bad as Elizabeth except dumber. Right now the only one on the show I like is Oleg(?) the KGB guy.
The subplot with Martha is the one I find most disturbing (and sad). I shudder to think what will happen when she finds out the truth. I also wonder if she might be the one to turn Phillip in, or at least try to
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.

Great finale and I can't wait for season three.
What a finale! I have a feeling next season Martha is going to find out about "Clark" and that gun is going to be used.
ReplyDeletePhilip: "If she says one more thing about non-violent resistance I'm going to punch her in the face." Funniest thing ever said on this show.

ReplyDeleteEven in Stan's dream, Martha was stealing some documents from to copy machine. :))
ReplyDeleteWhere's my comment ?

ReplyDeleteWhen they showed Phillip handing her the used condom, I kept thinking that she was going to save it and try to get pregnant without him knowing
ReplyDeleteExcellent finale. Didn't see the Jared reveal coming, or that they would try to recruit Paige. This entire finale was so intense.
