NCIS - Episode 11.23 - The Admiral's Daughter - Review: La femme fatale
11 May 2014
DV NCIS ReviewsBonjour! La dernière épisode de NCIS était un épisode très amusante. Dans cet épisode, l'agent DiNozzo est allé en France pour ramasser la fille d'un admiral américain. Malheuresement, la mission ne se passait pas comme prévu.
Okay, let's get back to English already. How did I do? I've had multiple French lessons in secondary school but it's been a year since I left so it might not be my best French ever.
Anyway, back to my NCIS review. As I wrote above in French, it was a really nice episode in which DiNozzo went to France to bring home the daughter of a Navy Admiral. However, things don't go according to plan.
Tony's secret mission starts with Vance telling him everything he needs to know about Amanda, the admiral's daughter. She appears to be a wild party animal who has gotten loose from the grip of her father. Tony's job is very simple: pick her up at the NCIS office in Marseille and get on the first plane back to the US. However, Tony stumbles upon five bodies at the office and is subsequently arrested by French police who just arrived at the crime scene. He is soon released by Officer Gérard and Inspector Isabelle, but the French police see Amanda as a suspect in the case. So when Tony tracks her down to one of the bars she has been frequently visiting, Isabelle and Gérard follow Tony. But in a shocking twist, Isabelle shoots Gérard and gets ready to shoot Amanda as well, but she is hindered by people from the bar who come out after hearing the gunshot.
Meanwhile, in D.C. the team investigates the death of a man found in a tank. Unsurprisingly, the death is connected to the events in France, as the dead guy is someone Amanda went to school with. In France, la femme fatale Isabelle frames Tony for the murders at the NCIS office so Tony and Amanda are now wanted fugutives. Tony decides it is best to get to the NCIS office in Rota (you know, where Tony would have gone to if he'd taken that job offer back in season 4). Though she is reluctant to leave Marseille, Amanda arranges a party bus with several of her friends to get her and Tony to Spain. Midway the journey, the bus starts smoking and Tony and Amanda are forced to run because of the arriving police and firemen. Later, Tony confronts Amanda and tells her he knows that she started the fire. Tony also discovered her friend Amir, who is the reason Amanda did not want to leave Marseille, is in fact a spy and tells her that everywhere she goes, bodies show up (making her la femme fatale). However, Amanda reveals that she is a spy - for the US government!
Turns out Amanda is working for the Defense Clandestine Service (DCS), and her friend Amir in turn worked for her. He copied files from Iranian intelligence which Amanda sent to her handler AKA the dead guy in the tank. The Iranians had him killed and are now after Amanda and Amir. That is the reason Amanda doesn't want to leave France, because it would mean she leaves Amir behind. So Tony calls Gibbs and sets a trap for Isabelle in order to find Amir. Tony and Amanda find him with one of Amanda's friends, but she turns out to be working for the Iranians. As Tony and Amanda are being held at gunpoint by her and Isabelle, marksmen storm in and save Amir, Amanda and Tony. Amanda's friends attempts a last escape attempt but Tony shoots her. They all head back to the US where Amanda is reunited with her father. Also, Palmer gets a cryptic message from Breena, which Tony helps to unsolve: Breena is pregnant!
This was absolutely a great episode. It was definitely one of the best episodes of the season. There was humour, there was action and there were unexpected twists and, of course, there was Tony! This was a great Tony-centric episode. And I'm so happy Palmer is going to be a father! At least I hope he is because you never know with this show. But Palmer deserves to be happy after the events in episode 17, right?
What did you think of this episode? Did you see the twists coming? Do you agree that it was one of the best episodes of the season, or did you not like that much?
Merci pour lire ma recension! Au revior! (Thanks for reading my review! See you!)
Below is the promo for the season finale, airing this Tuesday at 8/7c. Don't forget the tissues, as it seems that it's gonna be an emotional farewell to Daddy Gibbs and his portrayer Ralph Waite.

Ahah not bad for the french part ;)
ReplyDeleteGreat review for a great episode! I loved the Tony-centric and his chemistry with Amanda, she was a great character!
But as a french viewer, I cringed at every french clichés around and there were a few...
Ah, merci! Yeah, there are always a lot of clichés in 'foreign' episodes. And there were various in these episodes indeed. I'm Dutch and I had the same problem with Enemies Domestic which was set in Amsterdam. I think Berlin and Jet Lag also had quite the clichés.
ReplyDeleteBonjour!
Au-revoir !
I am french and I corrected your sentence. What do you think ?
I do agree with you, this was one of the best NCIS episode of season 11.
Thanks for reading and correcting! There were some words (like ramasser) which I literally translated so I might not have used the correct word. But anyway I practiced my French again ;)
ReplyDeleteGlad you liked the episode as much as I did!
Yes indeed. But in a way it's fun to see how the americans see other countries, specially europeans. And I'm sure it's working in both ways, we do have a lot americans clichés too!
ReplyDeleteYeah, I am sure we do!
ReplyDeleteMerci d'avoir lu mon analyse. Au revoir!"
But only if we want to be picky ;)
Oh yes, shame on me, I did some faults. I did not read over myself.
ReplyDelete"Ramasser" is for an object and "Ramener" is for a person.
That's too bad you had to quiet French, even in NCIS you can hear French ! But it is a very complicated language, I give you that.
What about you GreenColine, is French your mother tongue ? (Tu es française ?)
Yep absolutely loved this episode too. From the promo I was worried that it was going to be full of "silly" Tony - but was delighted to be proved completely wrong! Why did they promote it like that in the first place - I'm a huge Tony fan and it almost put me off watching! However, though a bit of a romp it was full of smart, competent Tony - similar to the early Tony that I have missed so much - with the best Tony/Gibbs dynamic I've seen in a long long time. Favourite moments include - and there were many: Gibbs properly calling DiNozzo "Tony" to his face (okay on the phone) for the first time since S7 "Flesh & Blood"; Tony shooting the bad girl "Bond" style in the penultimate scene - most exciting and unexpected twist I've seen in ages; and Jimmy discovering Breena is pregnant - Tony "That's a bun. That's an oven. Do the math". Lovely moment!
ReplyDeleteI've read more positive reviews for this episode and for old style Tony than I have in a very long time. Here's hoping TPTB take notice for once and continue to give the fans more of what they want going forward into season 12!
who the actress who played Amanda since the press release never release her name
ReplyDeleteI have to say, you're French wasn't terrible. It's been about eight or nine years since I studied FreInch in high school, and I was able to understand it!
ReplyDeleteYes I am french! About you Judi?
ReplyDeleteOui je français aussi, breton plus exactement. Tu es d'où ?
ReplyDeleteD'Annecy en Haute-Savoie :)
ReplyDeleteAmanda was played by Meg Chambers Steedle.
ReplyDeleteLol, thanks!
ReplyDeleteSadly promos tend to be misleading but I still hang a lot of weight on it. Same with 250th episode, which I wasn't very interested in but it turned out to be a good episode. Some episodes also turn out worse than the promo make them seem.
ReplyDeleteYou nicely described all the great things about this episode! Let's have more of this episodes in season 12!
You're right - remember the promo for "Revenge" following the spectacular Tiva car crash? A bigger work of fiction than the episode itself! And probably the most disappointing resolution to a cliff-hanger that I have ever seen. Not to mention a waste of an extremely impressive stunt. Never quite forgiven them for a week of chewed fingernails! LOL
ReplyDeleteOk ok :)
ReplyDeleteTu sais s'il y a une sorte de MP ici ? Vu qu'on est un peu hors-sujet ^^
