BURBANK, CA, May 21, 2014 – Filming is underway on Warner Bros. Pictures’ “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice,” the highly anticipated action adventure from director Zack Snyder, starring Henry Cavill in the role of Clark Kent/Superman, and Ben Affleck as BruceWayne/Batman.
“Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” also stars Gal Gadot as Diana Prince/Wonder Woman, with Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne and Diane Lane returning from “Man of Steel,” Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor, Jeremy Irons as Alfred, and Holly Hunter in a role newly created for the film.
“Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice”is written by Chris Terrio, from a screenplay by David S. Goyer. Charles Roven and Deborah Snyder are producing, with Benjamin Melniker, Michael E. Uslan, Wesley Coller, David S. Goyer and Geoff Johns serving as executive producers.

ReplyDeleteBatfleck isn't my problem, I'm more than happy with that casting choice. But this will be another broody flick that takes itself way too serious given the Nolan/Snyder track record
I saw her in Fast and Furious and her English was fine. The fans wanted Gina Carano who can't even act. I'm just happy the character is finally appearing on the big screen.

ReplyDeleteI'm glad I'm not the only one :) If some people like that style good for them but please not every single superhero movie needs to be like that. Others prefer the more serious style.

ReplyDeleteI wholeheartedly agree. Batman has certainly never been about that in the comics, so I don't see why it should imitate Marvel with their movies. I really enjoy Marvel's output, but they are another beast entirely.

ReplyDeleteTDK, BB, TDKR and MOS have not been 'grounded' gritty like Arrow. They have been uber-gritty. They had the pretentious smell of another 'oh, look at me. I am sooo deep and meaningful' Lars Von Trier stinker. Don't get me wrong, I liked the TDK saga a lot and the heavy uber dramatic tone SURE was a draw. But not with Man of Steel. The issue with that movie was that Superman NEVER was a a heavy hearted, brooding avenger. But a kind hearted always enthusiastic character.
I don't need another marvel fun ride but I sure don't need another flick pretending to carry the same dramatic weight 'The Godfather' did
Depends on the comics. Some comics are more light hearted while the others are heavily dramatic. Also I can't believe you are comparing Lars Von Trier with Nolan. I guess I'm blind because I never saw anything in common with TDK an Melancholia lol.

You can't believe it because ? The tone, the cold style (wich fit the TDK world perfectly) reminds me a lot of Von Trier (altough I dislike most of his stuff).
ReplyDeleteMoS shallow ? Can't agree on the shallow aspect, a movie alone with that backstory can't be shallow (I'll also be the last person to call Daredevil shallow, no matter how much I hated it. It just wasn't). The issue with MoS is (to me) that it's copying a style and trying to cash in on the TDK franchise. Think of my judgement what you will but I jhad a 'well isn't this a bit overly dramatic' in the back of my head all the time.
Supes said his sign stood for hope, a line I agree with. Superman stands for hope, he's a symbol you can look up to. A role model. The character we got served with in MoS was neither a role model or a dramatic hero. He was a guy the director shoved some dramatic lines and 'do some dramatic expressions' on.
MoS wasn't shallow but sure as hell tried to shove a style onto a franchise that didn't fit. I get why people liked it but I just didn't due to that simple fact: it wasn't 'my' Superman. I'm a bit of a Superman fanatic and usually like ALL the crap he's in. I DUG Smallville but for some reason (probably those I listed) MoS didn't connect with me.
If a movie doesen't feel like a dedication to Superman but like a dedication to Nolans Batman it has failed me.
Feel free to disagree with me on that, I'm used to be torn to shreds by Nolan fanboys proclaiming that 'MoS was Nolans doing' tearing me appart :P
A lot, if not almost all. I at least own almost all of them on DVD/BluRay.
My favourite ? Couldn't even tell you because I'm too biased with my childhood memories. The kid in me will always say it's Superman 2 but objectively it's X2. Laugh about that if you want but I have an affection for that flick. It didn't just ready the way for the new wave of superhero flicks but also translated the message X-Men always carried REALLY well.
I also have a weird tendency to Howard the Duck and Ang Lee's Hulk. Both sucked but have some charm.

ReplyDeleteObviously is trying to copy TDK style, not because of Nolan directly but for the success of TDK franchise. Its natural and its not going to be the only one. Its like NCIS (crappy tv show but millions of people watches it, so they made NCIS:LA and NCIS:Red and NCIS:No) just to recreate the same thing dressed in other clothes xD.

ReplyDeleteIdk what it is, but i just can't get on board with this movie. And it's really depressing b/c i've been waiting for this movie since birth!! I swear i think it's b/c of Ben. I even tried to shrug it off, but even doing that, nothing seems to be getting me hyped for this movie. Not the suite, not the batmobile, not the title and definitely not this poster. Not even Henry recurring his role is doing it for me. And the question still remains...umm is this going to actually be a VERSUS movie, or is Bruce and Clark gonna fight, get along, then kick some higher threat's ass??? I wish they'd clear that up. I mean wth, is Kal gonna go flying into Gotham?? Is Bruce gonna travel into Metropolis for some business event?? like i don't get it. And the more i think about it, the more it turns me off, which is very upsetting.

ReplyDeleteLike many the title is a bit iffy/ makes me wonder is it really a Man of Steel Sequel, or just a per Justice League movie not about Superman but about all of them.
They've spent no time building this universe. They completely rebooted Batman going into a Superman sequel, they'll be dropping in multiple other un-established characters, and they've made several casting decisions that could be disastrous on their own.

ReplyDeleteIt's depressing. Something i was so siked about, crumbled within a month. Smmfh. They should've just stuck with an actual MOS sequel, instead of doing the "Dark Knight Returns" approach mixing him in with Superman's story.
ReplyDeleteShe's in both Fast 5 and 6 for the majority of the movies. And she's a good actress. But whatever. What is acting experience to dictate how good an actress is? If directors went for people who had experience all the time, we'd have no new actors or actresses on the big screen.
