Channing Tatum is officially set to play Gambit in an upcoming “X-Men” spinoff movie, producer Lauren Shuler Donner confirmed at the “X-Men: Days of Future Past” premiere in London.

In a red carpet interview with Total Film, Donner explained the casting choice: “He’s a rogue, Channing — he’s a rascal, just like Remy LeBeau. And he can handle the action, we all know that. And he’s got a really good heart … I think he’ll be great for Gambit.”

She added, “And he’s a southerner too … he understands that world, and you know Gambit loves New Orleans.”

Not sure how I feel about this.
I like the actor, but don't know if he's a fit for the character. I do like how he's a fan of Gambit though. Hopefully that means he'll at least try to do the role justice.

  2. I like Channing but he doesn't have the right face for Gambit IMO

  3. I was fine with Taylor Kitsch...

  4. Wow that is terrible casting!

Now had they cast Timothy Olyphant I would have been intrigued.

  5. I'll give him a chance, but please recast Rogue and put her in this movie. They are an iconic duo. As much as I like Anna Paquin, she's just not Rogue. Maybe Olivia Wilde/Amber Heard? She's sexy, strong and sassy, let's get it going.

  6. I hate her as Rogue. Always have. She is just wrong for the part.

  8. I would have even preferred Ian Somerhalder if they wanted to tap a hot younger actor.

  9. When it says Storm etc will be introduced in X-Men:A .. does that mean as new actors or are the oldies returning?

    New actors.
I believe DOFP is the last time we'll see the old cast except maybe Hugh Jackman.

X-Men 3 and X-Men Origins to be no longer considered cannon and Ryan Reynolds confirmed as Deadpool made me extremely happy. Cyclops will be back!! (I hope this means Wolverine will no longer be the center of the X-Men universe)
I don't really picture Tatum as Gambit, Taylor Kitsch was a good choice (though the southern accent he used was not).
