not a suprise at all!!
ReplyDeleteOh. I have so many mean things to say, but I won't do it. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteyeah, um, no
ReplyDeleteWhat a surprise
ReplyDelete/sarcasm.
Will give it a screener review.
This was a no brainer, now question is, will many of the viewers from HIMYM watch this? Doubt it but we'll see what the ratings are like in September.
ReplyDeleteI'd be infinitely more excited for this if Eliza Dushku was attatched
ReplyDeleteThanks for taking the bullet for the rest of us, Babar!
ReplyDeleteLmao
ReplyDeleteYou are welcome :)
ReplyDeleteWonder what CBS will order next. They can't be done for the day after ordering just one show.
ReplyDeleteThey might feel that they've worked enough for the day since they gave a renewal to BatB...
ReplyDeleteHaha! I like you.
ReplyDeleteI think maybe Madam Secretary, one of the spin-offs (NCIS: New Orleans or CSI: Cyber), The Odd Couple and maybe Cuz-Bros.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure it will join such hits as AfterMASH and Joey
ReplyDeleteI can cancel it after the first season if you guys want. Although I could by lying, I did just cancel TTP instead of BATB.
ReplyDelete"duh"
ReplyDeleteAnd a lot. Considering 70% of the fanbase hated the finale, I'd say this show is probably going to be cancelled by the time it airs episode 5.
ReplyDeleteIf this season of HIMYM avaraged 3.39 and that were to loss 70% (2,373) then you can expect a rating of 1.07
Considering that some sites report that 70% of the fans hated the finale, I can expect the show to perform at low 1s. CBS should have realized this
ReplyDeleteWhere did you find the exact number of people who did not liked the finale, and why do you assume that not liking the finale will lead to not watching this show?
ReplyDeleteExpected.
ReplyDeleteNow is time to jinx it to become Joey or That 80s Show.
After that finale I'm not gonna spend a second watching this turkey.
Because how can we trust these people after they screwed up so spectacularly? Is "Dad" going to die too? Will Mom go back to her ex-husband?
ReplyDeleteThere are trust issues involved now.
You don't cancel anything, you devour the shows! And usually you're pretty good at your job. A miss almost never, a correct all the time, I forgive you :) (While others will still hate your guts, LOL)
ReplyDeleteEven if it's not official yet I expect it to be ordered, but if they don't that would be the smartest move since this have more chances to bomb rather than success
ReplyDeleteThe finale will be shot since day one and by the time they'll air the series finale it won't make sense, but ey they were brave and stuck to it.
ReplyDeleteSo, no thanks.
There's no common sense in entertainment. It's all about the numbers, and a spin-off from a majorly criticized finale after a 9-year-old series will surely gather some interesting numbers this fall. I am looking forward to seeing what happens!
ReplyDeleteBut those are your personal feelings and you cannot know how the rest of the viewers are going to take it.
ReplyDeleteWTF? I guess one sight posted the news and the others followed suit.
ReplyDeleteMajor plot holes, they undid character development, killed off a beloved character and finished the series by completely changing the course in the very last minute.
ReplyDeleteHere on spoilerTV we had the "What did you think" poll for the finale, and EW made a poll also in which it turned out 69,47% of the fans disliked the finale. Those kind of numbers tend to be repeated. And not liking a finale will probably mean not watching a spin off.
ReplyDeleteThis is all speculation, so I could be wrong, but chances are this show is going to bomb instead of succeed
I don't understand the joke in the tweet, someone help me! "Step away from the window and put the TV back where you found it." What does that mean? Am I the only one who doesn't understand that?
ReplyDeleteI wondered why deadline hadn't posted about the pick, I guess I know why now.
ReplyDeleteI guess I can go to bed, then.
I'm sorry, but that doesn't mean everyone who watched the finale went here on Spoilertv to vote. The finale was watched by 13milions and how many of those thirteen milions voted here on this site?
ReplyDeleteI guess it's something to do with people throwing their tv sets out of the window in frustration that this spinoff had been picked up?
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure, there will be a curiosity factor, I know I wasn't all cool with the HIMYM finale but I will almost definetely watch the pilot.
ReplyDeleteNope, but statics suggest the numbers would be repplicated. There have been multiple sites in which the votes are always nearing 70%, so it's probable that out of those 13 million peoples near 70% hated it, that's how it works.
ReplyDeleteBesides, it should be very obvious, to this day the facebook page is filled with hate comments for the finale, and people who hated it have been waaay more vocal than those who loved it
Maybe, there could be a curiosity factor for the pilot, but I doubt it carries on with the following episodes.
ReplyDeleteI put my money on that it will be cancelled by midseason if not sooner
If that's what it meant, it was quite poorly written. Or I'm an idiot. But thanks! :D
ReplyDeleteBut again, do all of the 13mio go to vote online? I doubt so.
ReplyDeleteIF it gets picked up, I bet they will add it to the fall schedule, give it a full season so it has its time to see ratings stabilize, and probably not make it to a 2nd season. But I guess the ratings for How I Met Your Dad will be close to proof on how many people who liked the finale.
ReplyDeleteI studied statistics, the number of people who have been vocal and voted in these polls is representative, even if it's not the whole population of the 13 million people who watched the finale, it would be expected that these numbers would replicate.
ReplyDeleteThat's how it works. And I use the words "expected" and "probable" because statistics is all about chances: I'm not saying it will be a certain way or another, I'm saying it's likely going to be one way based on the numbers
It will be interesting to see indeed.
ReplyDeleteCBS best chance is that they promote this show not as a spin off, but as a completely new show so that they can catch an audience that has never seen HIMYM. Otherwise, I see it bomb as soon as it airs
I hate the "do ALL those people go to vote?" comments, don't you? :P I could very well say "Does Nielsen count ALL the homes?" No. Should we believe them to be false as well, then? Nope, it's as close as it gets. :)
ReplyDeleteWell, i liked the himym finale, crucify me! :P
ReplyDeleteIt's ok that you liked the finale, I'm just saying there is a lot of people who didn't and that could affect HIMYD pretty badly
ReplyDeleteMeh..
ReplyDeleteI liked How I Met Your Mother and loved the finale of the series unlike many people, but the idea of this reboot/ spin-off/ knock-off does not get me excited honestly.
Expectations from viewers will be high, not to mention many will go in with unwarranted negative biases from the HIMYM finale... Can the premise work as well as the first time with the added pressures?
I will be checking it out to see if the new cast has the magic of the cast of HIMYM, but I'm not too hopeful.
Hahahaha, no no, I just wanted to have my say in the comments! Nothing against you, madam! :)
ReplyDeleteLOL, Deadline has no leg to stand on after that Scandal story yesterday.
ReplyDeleteAh, yeah nope!
ReplyDeletecould CBS have intentionally leaked the news to see how it would be recieved before they make an official decision?
ReplyDeleteNah. Things like this happened last year too (I think. It's all a jumble of so much news in two days).
ReplyDeleteI don't think a show has EVER been so hated without airing a single episode. Truly an accomplishment, if you think about it.
ReplyDeleteHow I met your dad but was secretly still harbouring love for my former friend and boyfriend so I waited till your dad died to run back to my former boyfriends awaiting arms.
ReplyDeleteI don't think that's the best exemple here. Nielsen ratings pretty much sucks now! Some kind of Social Media index would be a much better measurement of a show's popularity, althought that doesn't involve the commercials, so that's why they don't count them.
ReplyDeleteWhich is stupid! I mean, why don't companies just adapt to this new way of watching television instead! Just post your commercials on the official T.V. shows' Facebook pages. Or do twitter feeds that both includes #nameofTVshow and #nameofproduct. Both of those, of course, Under a contractual agreement with the channels that air those shows, or something! Yes, it would annoy people, but let's be honest: Aren't commercials right in the middle of your favorite show already annoy you anyway?
Sorry, anyone mention Nielsen, I have to rant! I mean, I barely watch any T.V. anymore! I go on the CTV website (oh, yeah, I'm Canadian eh! lol) and check most of my shows there!
I have to try and keep my reply short, but there are so many things wrong all over that (no offense to you, but your idea is flawed on all levels, it just wouldn't work and I have 500 reasons for why I say that, but I'm not going to bore you with them here.) It's OK to rant about Nielsen, but at the current state, they're as close as we get. But that's also why piracy is so wild, and the companies are trying to do something about it. We've gotten HBO, Netflix and those kinds of services will continue to grow in addition to the networks establishing ways for the entire world to get the media at the same time, not just the United States. Change is happening, but it doesn't happen in one day. Or one year. But it will happen eventually, and it will completely revolutionize the TV industry.
ReplyDeleteI'm not saying my particular solution would work! Just saying it's still better than what currently happens. Nielsen ratings currently are way off what people are watching, if you check things like popularity index on this website, and compare those to the ratings those same shows make. Popularity indexes shows what people really watch, while Nielsen ratings shows which commercials people watch. While before the Internet became as big as it is today, those two datas were one and the same, it's just isn't the case anymore. And fighting pirates is fighting a losing battle; channels should focus on providing better Internet services and take Internet viewings into account. For starters, stop blocking their videos for ''outside the country'' viewers. And stop removing them after a week (that's what CTV does at least). And count number of views, as part of ''Internet ratings''.
ReplyDeleteThe ideal solution? I can't tell what it is, but one thing is certain: Channels HAVE to adapt to Internet viewership instead of fighting it! I'm sure it can be done.
No no no. Be original and think of something else.
ReplyDeleteThis will get the Joey treatment with even fewer episodes.
